Roaming down the streets, the metal faced woman from a while ago is named Cessily Kincaid, a mutant who has the ability to transform her entire body into liquid metal, more specifically mercury. Disgraced by her family for her powers, she ran away and was hoping to find a new life somewhere else. Where she could be accepted.
She was walking through the streets looking for somewhere she can find refuge when she heard something in an alley.
"Wait, Angel, are you a lesbian?"
Anjelica stopped her talk and looked from enthusiastic to very confused. "No!"
"Hey, no offense. I wouldn't mind." Roberta assured her and patted Anjelica's shoulder. "Even though it'd make things a bit awkward between us if you were into me."
"Rob, I'm not gay." Anjelica sighed and rubbed her head. "You really think my gay aunt would tell me to hide that?"
"Good point." Roberta suddenly remembered that her Aunt Alex was lesbian. "Apologies. Please, continue with your point."
Anjelica sighed and saw it was time to finally reveal it. "Watch this." She said to Roberta before she flew into the air, doing a flip and landing on the other end of the ally.
"Oh my god!" Roberta cried in shock before she then laughed at what she saw. "Oh my god! You're her!"
"Super-Arachnid." Anjelica confirmed with a smile.
Roberta laughed when a thought struck her. "Oh, my god. Your parents are superheroes!"
Anjelica then looked disappointed but supposed she should've seen that coming with her connecting the dots together. But still, she didn't have to go off of that.
"Really?" Anjelica sighed, happy her best friend was at least excited for her.
Meanwhile, Cessily watched everything and was shocked at what she witnessed and saw that she wasn't the only one.
But what she didn't notice, what all of them didn't notice, was the fact that they were being watched by a woman wearing a blood red suit, long black hair, and had a shield.
But this shield, as well as her outfit, is holding a skull with tentacles spreading off of it.
A HYDRA.
She reached and tapped the side of her ear. "Nightmare, Arachnid, I found our target."
"I can't believe this!" Kara cried as she marched around the office at the DEO. "Anjelica's trying to put her life in danger, and Peter's supporting her!"
"You're surprised that the same person that supported you when you wanted to become a crime fighter is supporting his daughter?" Alex asked, surprised that her sister never saw this coming. "The same father who was supportive of his daughter through the most part of her life? He supported her when she went to join basketball team but talked her down when her powers manifested."
Kara sighed and was sorry that her daughter had to go through that. "Yeah, that wasn't the best moment for us."
"What I'm saying is Anjelica has you and Peter watching after her, maybe she doesn't need you to protect you, maybe she needs you to help and support her." Alex offered her ten dollars to the conversation.
Kara sat down and sighed, hearing that she knew that she was right, but that's not what's really bothering her, and it seemed Alex could see that.
"What's this really about?" Alex wondered.
Kara started to tear up a little and took her glasses off, wiping the tears away. "It's...Anjelica's growing up, and I guess I'm not ready for it." Alex started to see what it was about and understood where she was coming from. "And I guess after she believed she's old enough to fight crime, it's almost like admitting that she doesn't need me."
"Kara, of course she still needs you." Alex said as she walked over and hugged her sister. "She just doesn't need you to protect her anymore. But she still needs you to teach her how to fight and use her powers properly."
The Dream Team were still in the Watchtower when Peter came flying in and retracted his mask.
"Hey, guys." Peter greeted them with a shrug.
"Everything okay, Peter?" Nia wondered. "You look a little down."
"Uh, Angel and Kara had a fight...or what they consider a fight." Peter supposed. "Anjelica went out as a superhero today, how did none of you notice?"
"We noticed." Morg'Ann defended. "We just thought she was out there on your approval."
"Well, she wasn't." Peter stated as he dropped on a chair. "Just looking to talk with J'onn." He then looked around and saw someone's missing. "Where's Brainy?"
"No idea." Gwen confessed.
"Not to worry." Brainy called, right when they saw Brainy come off the elevator. "I have arrived."
"Where were you?" Nia wondered.
"Apologize, but I seem to have had some...almost like a migraine." Brainy said as he was rubbing his head, which confused them.
"You guys get those?" Gwen was surprised to hear.
"Uh...close, it's like something is messing with my mind." Brainy explained to her.
"Should we be worried?" Peter asked, having a day.
"No, of course not." Brainy assured them. "J'onn should be here shortly. I have news of my intellect I've gathered off of Trapster."
"Good, what you got?" Gwen wondered.
"It seems that it appears Trapster was working for a team of sorts." Brainy explains the best he could. "They are a group of individuals who go by the name of...and these are his exact words...the Nightmare Crew."
"Nightmare Crew?" Nia repeated with a chuckle. "Sounds like someone's a fan."
"Of what? Us?" Gwen asked. "Does this mean we're dealing with some sort of copycats?"
"How can that be?" Morg'Ann asked. "The only way for that to happen is if they had people with powers and abilities similar to us."
"That's what I'm going to deduce for Alex when I return to the DEO." Brainy promises them. "I will inform you on more when I have more."
"Keep me and Kara informed on that, too." Peter asked of him.
J'onn then flew in to the window and saw them. "Hello, team. What's Peter doing here?" He wondered, Peter not really one for hanging out in the Watchtower.
"Angel and Kara had a fight." Peter sighed. "I was hoping that we could talk."
"Of course." J'onn assured him.
In Central City, Yuri was looking out the window of P.A.R.K.E.R. Industries that was cut open by the Black Cat and sighed.
"I love how we live in a city where villains get rebooted." Yuri sighed as this was not how she wanted her morning to go.
"Yeah, we should make sure not to put that on the welcome sign." Patty warned her as they look around. "What was stolen?"
"According to the systems, she broke in, downloaded everything from their servers to a drive, and escaped." Barry informed them after having a talk with Harold Hogan.
"Well, all of their projects here are public, and you can't use any of the projects without the specifics you can only find here, so we can rule our mad scientist." Yuri commented as she took a sip of coffee.
"What about banking accounts? Trying to run them out of business?" Patty offered her guess.
"Caitlin said they don't keep that type of thing on the servers, only the documents." Barry assured them that won't be the case.
"Well, what would someone like the Black Cat want with a bunch of documents?" Yuri asked, trying to figure out why anyone would want to impersonate the Black Cat. Then she looked down and saw some blueprints for some type of armor and saw there's a signature for Ollie Osnick.
"Oh, those are mine." Ollie said as he gestured to the blueprints. "I got the go ahead to start working on a prototype of it, starting it later."
"What is it?" Yuri wondered.
"A new type of armor for police. A suit that can copy the powers of Spider-Man. An early warning system, the ability to enhance strength, even these." Ollie listed as he showed that the suit comes with four extra arms coming from the back, similar to Iron-Spider's legs. "Got the idea from the Spider-Man in National City. I call it the Steel Spider."
Meanwhile, across town, Cecile was put in on a case for someone named Allegra Garcia. Said to have killed a man with her power to control radio waves, and she's been in and out of prison since she was 13.
"Your Honor, due to a preponderance of the evidence, the State intends to seek the maximum penalty against the defendant, Allegra Garcia."
"Which is why the defense would like to plead out." Allegra's lawyer said. "My client is aware that a jury would put her away for life and is willing to settle for, say 15 years?"
"Is that true, Ms. Garcia?" The honor asked.
Allegra sighed and sighed. "I suppose."
Cecile then ended up using her powers by accident and ended up noticing something wasn't right here.
"Ms. Horton?"
"Uh, actually, the prosecution requests bail for Ms. Garcia." Cecile asked, seeing she needed to look into this a little further. "I know this is a bit unorthodox, but...new evidence has come to light."
"My office doesn't have the resources to find anything." Allegra's lawyer said.
"We just need a little of more time if the state wants to pursue a lighter sentence." Cecile explained. "In the meantime. we request metahuman dampeners be placed on Ms. Garcia while we continue."
Patty was later on in a parking lot, waiting for someone to arrive as someone came up to her.
"I spent 20 years working for McCulloch Technologies. R department, classified division. Secret projects. The Robotism Heuristic Intelligence Navigable Operative. Super soldiers. Things you couldn't imagine. Then this guy comes in, saying his name was Malcom Stromboard. He'd been promoted into our group, but he had no technical know-how. But last fall, I came in one night, and I found him with the infrared photon rifle we'd been developing for years. The next day, he and the prototype were gone, and Malcom doesn't officially exist. Of course, nobody at McCulloch believed me and they fired me."
"I've been following them for a while, and I promise we will protect you, and nobody will know we met." Patty promised.
"These people, they won't be brought out of the light so easily. They live in the darkness. In the absence of light." He informed Patty. "They call themselves...Black Hole."
"Not ominous at all." Patty commented in a mutter.
Back in National City, Peter and J'onn were sitting outside and just watching the people on the steps of his home with some drinks.
"And that's been my day." Peter said as he took a sip of his drink.
"Anjelica is quite the girl. She has the mind of her father, and the strength and determination of her mother." J'onn complimented him and his family. "And that power set of hers is complicated."
"Tell me about it. She has the strength of her mother, but the bone density of me." Peter sighed, meaning that even though Anjelica could survive punching a truck, she could never survive a fall from space like her mother. "I think Kara's just afraid of Anjelica being ready to leave. Honestly, I feel the same." He sighed and looked down at his phone that had a photo of him, Kara, and Anjelica when she was five and won her first basketball game. "She's been helping me fight on for years, if she doesn't need us, then what are we gonna do?"
"Ever thought of having another?" J'onn asked with a chuckle.
"Oh, god, no! Don't put that idea in Kara's head." Peter begged of J'onn. "Did you forget the circumstances that had to occur for this one? Symbiote invasion, the end of the world, and then she came five months early."
"I think that you guys would be amazing with a second child." J'onn encouraged. "Remember when the Snow-Parker's had their third child?"
"Aster? Yeah, his circumstances were weirder." Peter supposed. "Ald they are happy. But still, I don't know how Kara would feel on a second kid. I don't know how I feel on a second kid."
"Something maybe worth thinking about." J'onn supposed and gave him a pat on the shoulder.
In the skies, heading for New York, Peter was on the Orphan One, which is the name of his plane for P.A.R.K.E.R. Industries. He was currently having a Face Talk with Caitlin about recent events that occurred in the city.
"I chose the wrong time to leave the city, Huh?" Peter took a guess after being told of Violet, Electro 2.0, Black Cat 2.0, and Ralph's return.
"Hey, you're going to help a friend. I can handle things here in the meantime while you help him out." Caitlin promised him.
"I hope you're right." Peter sighed, feeling he should be back in the city, helping his friends and family. "We're about to land. Talk to you later, love you."
"Love you, too." Caitlin said her farewell and hung up.
Peter sighed as he laid back in his seat when Vicki, the flight attendant, walked past and noticed him. "Rough week?"
"Rough life." Peter corrected with a chuckle. "Kids are growing up, and they might be growing up a little too fast."
"It's their birthday soon, right?" Vicki asked, smiling at the reminder of his kids as she's met them a few times.
"Sixteen. God, I'm old." Peter realized as Vicki laughed at that. "How'd your kids like those signed comics from Spider-Man?"
"Oh, they loved them." Vicki laughed as they saw the seatbelt sign turn on. "I find it amazing how you're going this far just to help a friend, sir. At these times, it makes me glad to be working for someone like you."
"Thanks, Vicki." Peter said with a smile as she went to sit down and Peter placed his laptop away and buckled up. "Now I just have to find Wade."
Anjelica walked home and opened the door when she saw Peter and Kara were there waiting for her to arrive.
"Oh, hey. Am I in trouble still?" Anjelica wondered.
"No, the opposite." Kara admitted with a sigh. "I wanna apologize."
Anjelica was surprised to hear so and looked over to Peter, who was just as surprised as she was. "Don't look at me, kid, I found her this way."
"Okay." Anjelica supposed she would like to hear this and walked to the couch before she sat down.
Kara crossed her arms, not really used to be proven wrong. "I'm sorry for my outburst. But I was just worried about you, and seeing you on the news, just out other worried me. And...your father and I have come to an agreement."
"More I talked on your behalf." Peter whispered to Anjelica, who slightly giggled at that.
Kara gave him a quick look of anger before turning back to her. "We will allow you to go out and help others like us."
"Yes!" Anjelica was happy to see her parents were on board.
"But!" Kara broke her from doing her happy dance just yet. "We need to at least be told when and for how long you'll be out, you want extra time, just call or message us."
"Deal." Anjelica agreed to that.
"And...you need someone at least close by to help out." Kara continued the list of demands.
"What does that imply?" Anjelica asked for specifics as she raised her breach watch. "I mean, we all have these watches. We can all be nearby in a second."
"Backup." Peter explained for her. "In case you go against something you can't handle alone. And, yes, the watches do count as long as you have someone on standby."
"Okay." Anjelica supposed. "Is that it?"
"Yeah, that's all." Kara promised. "No strings attached."
"There are a few." Peter interjected. "School comes first, and don't abandon any social life for this."
"Agreed." Anjelica supposed that made sense but saw she might need to tell them about Roberta. "And...also...I might've...told Roberta..."
That caused both parents to freeze, wondering exactly what that implied. "What?"
"I...told her...everything." Anjelica confessed.
But, as a saving Grace, before the parents could explode, they heard a knock at the door, and they had no idea who that was.
"Were we expecting anyone?" Peter asked them.
"Nope." Kara said and decided to go see who it is.
Kara also did a quick scan, and all she saw was someone around Angel's height that was wearing a hood. Opening the door, they looked to see a young girl with a half normal face, and a half face made of metal.
"Uh...can...can we help you?" Kara asked the girl.
"I hope so." Cessily said as she raised her hand and showed off her metal hand that started dripping on the floor. "Please."
The family were shocked to see this girl had some sort of power, and she came to them looking for help. And they weren't going to just throw her out on the street after seeing that.
"Come in." Kara gestured for her to enter their home, and she did just that.
In space, a few light years from Earth, a plant began to rot and corrode in seconds, followed by it dying and exploding. The core of the very planet cracking and dying off before it gets absorbed and sends debris flying.
But as the planet's debris was floating around in the distance, a beam of light escaped the destruction and was flying off into space, being followed by something. Something big, something terrified, something as big as the moon itself.
Something terrible was following the beam of light.
And they were both heading for Earth.
