"Where do I begin? Good question, right? I hate beginnings: the cheesy music swelling, the deep man voice saying, "This is the story of Kara Jor-El, who's from Krypton." I don't know. I guess you need a beginning to make sense of the rest of the story...to know who I am."
KRYPTON: EARTH-99771: BEFORE "CRISIS"
The entire planet was currently under attack, people were running scared as a meteor shower was also taking place at the same time. But it wasn't meteors they were debris being flown from orbit onto the planet. And the debris was carrying soldiers.
Robot soldiers.
On the planet itself, one blonde girl was hiding from the attack currently going on between an army of robots and the soldiers of Krypton. She ran when she saw an opening to escape but was cornered.
The soldiers came and helped out the girl and shot them, only getting taken down and killed by the robots. The scared girl then ran off to find somewhere to go when she looked and saw a gigantic ship that looked to be the same shape as the skulls for the robots.
The sentries made quick work of the soldiers and took their attention towards the girl. She then ran and tripped over some rubble before crawling over to a pipe that she was small enough to crawl through and escape the robots at the same time.
Being in a safer part of the city, she took off running to an observatory where she knew she'd be safe. Because that's her father's place of work. When she reached it, she saw the giant ship was lowering itself down to the point its engine was destroying buildings. That was immediately followed by the ship releasing a beam that started to absorb the entire city leaving a giant scorched mark in its place.
But she missed that there was another sentry coming up behind her, then was immediately shot by a beam that got her attention. The woman holding the gun that shot the sentry was her mother.
"Mom?" She asked.
"Kara!" She cried to her daughter. "Come quickly!"
Kara then ran and entered the observatory as her mother closed and barricaded the doors, which was met with the pounding of the robots.
"Mother the-the ship! Argo City's gone." Kara cried.
"That's only the beginning." Her mother warned her. "Brainiac's destabilized the planet's core. Krypton won't hold together long." She then led Kara into a large room of the observatory where a pod was waiting inside.
"But all your research on him...isn't there anything you can do?" Kara asked.
"That's why we're here." She said and placed an orange crystal into the helm of the ship.
"A spaceship?" Kara asked. "That's what you've been working on?"
"Your Uncle Zor-El discovered a planet that can sustain Kryptonians, far away from Brainiac." She informed Kara as the ship came down and showed the seat, revealing to only be for one person. "He's built a ship just like this for your cousin, Kara."
That got Kara confused as she turned to face her mom. "Kara? She's a baby, she won't survive on her own."
"Which is why you will be going with her." She said as she walked up and held her daughter, who immediately understood what her mother was saying but wasn't ready to accept it.
"No, no, I am not leaving you." Kara promised before immediately pleading. "Please don't make me leave you!"
"Kara. I will always be with you." She promised and took a necklace off with their symbol. "You belong to the House of El. A House of Hope." She then pulled her into a hug and handed her the necklace. "Never forget that."
Sadly, their final moments were interrupted by the banging of the second security doors. Separating, her mother pulled Kara into the rocket, immediately getting ready for off. As it was happening, Kara had to watch as the robots broke the door down and made their way to her mother.
"Mom!" Kara cried out as she stood and waited for the inedibility of the blade that pierced her chest.
As she then took off, Kara Jor-El cried at the fact she lost everything. Her home. Her family. Everyone is gone. But then she looked out and saw her baby cousin, Kara Zor-El, was in her pod alongside her.
But that's when the planet exploded, and several giant pieces of debris went flying off and crushed her ship.
"No!" Kara cried when there was a giant wave heading in her direction. "What?"
The wave of antimatter then consumed her and the pod along with her and dragged her across the stars...until she reached Earth-Prime.
Kara Jor-El escaped and lived again on Earth-Prime
Kara Zoe-El however...didn't make it out of her world and swallowed by a antimatter wave.
PRESENT DAY:
Cisco, Clark, and Armando were listening to Karen as she told her story about when she was stolen from her universe and sent here.
"Uh..." Armando was trying to find the words for what to say next, but just had nothing. "Wow."
"But what did you do when you arrived on Earth?" Cisco asked her.
"Well, a few weeks ago, I woke up here." Karen was staring off when Cisco interrupted.
"Weeks? Crisis was years ago." Clark informed her. "There's no way that you could've just arrived."
"Actually, there is." Cisco said as he also interrupted, and he pulled up a film of her pod that's now sitting in an ARGUS facility. "We've scanned the residue left on your pod, and we discovered that they were solar flares. Her pod's always been here, it's just been orbiting the sun's atmosphere. Her pod's stasis kept her in a sleep like state as she traveled dimensions, also allowing her to absorb massive amounts of solar energy."
"I grew up with the solar radiation, how's she stronger than me?" Clark wondered.
"Because the solar ray you were exposed to come through the atmosphere." Cisco explained and gestured to Karen. "She was directly exposed to the sun's rays."
"But what broke her cycle?" Armando wondered. "What got her pod sent to earth? And what are the odds her pod landed here on the millions of other planets?"
"Those I can't answer." Cisco confessed. "There's a million of things that could've sent her pod to earth, and I don't know how she broke free of her cycle."
"Well, for now, let's try and get her settled here on earth, the right way." Clark said as he eyed Karen. "And maybe get her some clothes."
"Already on it." Cisco assured him.
"Great. I'll check back in once I've dealt with getting the boys moved in to Smallville." Clark said as he started to make his way out.
"Good luck with that." Cisco said to him and followed him out.
Armando and Karen were then left alone, and he tried to strike up a conversation. "So...you a Fortnite fan?"
Karen looked confused, no idea what that is or what he's talking about. "Huh?"
That night in National City, the NCBB (National City Blood Bank) was under attack by a figure that was agile, moved fast, and had a thirst for blood.
Yep, they were dealing with a vampire.
He made his way into the blood bank but was immediately met with Brainy. "This is going to suck for you. No pun intended."
The vampire then snarled and went to punch Brainy several times, but he ended up dodging all of the attacks and Brainy was able to get a hit in that sent him flying.
Before the vampire could get back up, his arms were shot by webbing, keeping him stuck to the ground. That was followed by Peter and Gwen revealing themselves as the ones who shot him.
"Hi, Dracula." Peter greeted him as Morgan, Alex, J'onn, and Nia also come out of hiding to surround him.
But the vampire snarled and engulfed inside a puff of smoke and emerging as a bat.
"What? No! Stop him!" Everyone cried as the bat started to make its way out.
But before it could make it out, Kara flew in and smacked him, causing him to fall and turn back to his human form. Cessily also made it but was a little late to the party for the fight.
"You're not going anywhere." Kara stated, infuriated at herself for her mistake.
"Nice catch, babe." Peter said as he walked over and was followed by everyone else.
"I'm sorry." The vampire said as Peter grabbed him and pulled him to his feet. "Please! I'm sorry. I wasn't going to hurt anyone. I'm not really a vampire."
"We know." Morg'Ann assured him. "Your name is Silas. An alien from Transilvane."
"Which is a real planet apparently." Cessily muttered to herself.
"You're where vampire stories come from." Nia added on.
"Great." Silas sighed. "Glad to see you've done your homework. But you're under-emphasizing one tiny, important detail. They're just stories. I don't hurt people, just rob blood banks."
"We're not interested in the robbery." Kara informed him. "We'll let you go...if you help us."
"Help you with what?" Silas asked them.
"We want you to help us break into the Phantom Zone." Alex finished explaining.
"Why the hell do you wanna do that?" Silas asked them.
"Because we need to save our daughter." Kara stated, looking over to Peter who nodded and crossed his arms.
Back in Central City, Maggie was left on her own, no idea where to go, who she can trust, or what's happening to her.
Wandering through the city, Maggie needed up in the park and decided to try out some of her skills while she was alone. Looking down, she saw a small rock she couldn't hope to lift.
So, she decided to give it a try and went over to pick it up, which she did with ease. Passing it back and forth. She decided to test out more of her strength as she dropped the rock and move on to an even bigger rock. Picking that one up was a little trickier, but that was due to the fact she couldn't get a good grip on it.
Deciding to take a closer look at this shape shifting ability of hers and went to the only place she knew she would see a lot of different people.
The zoo.
As soon as she stepped footing in the zoo, her eyes were immediately seeing the DNA of everyone that passed her.
She also saw she could tell the DNA of family members and how close the DNA actually look the same. Already knowing she can already take the form of people; she went to one of the exhibits and saw the closest was a gorilla.
Looking closer to it, she immediately saw the DNA, and was shocked at how close they're related to human DNA.
"Wow, never knew a gorilla was a couple of DNA strands different." Maggie muttered to herself. "But I'm glad of that, I know I'd never be able to get that hair off me." Looking around, she saw a few Jaguars and almost instantly saw their DNA strands. "Wow, with this power...I could do so much. I could be anyone. I could do anything."
She wasn't really paying attention to her footing and accidentally ended up bumping into someone who was in a bit of a hurry.
"Whoops. Sorry." Maggie apologizes as she watched as two guys were following the girl to the bathroom.
"Hey, sweetie, where are you going?" One the guys asked.
"Yeah. Wanna party?" The second guy asked.
Maggie became angry at this and followed them as they cornered the girl in the bathroom. Turning herself invisible, getting the hang of it quite well, she sneaked into the bathroom.
Making it inside, Maggie saw the girl was stuck cornered in the restroom. She was terrified of what was going to happen to her, but lucky for her, she has a savior.
Maggie took the time while she was still invisible to take her DNA and morphed herself to become a Jaguar. Becoming visible, she scared off the two guys as they shrieked and ran out of the bathroom.
Chasing them out for good measure, she was immediately spotted by people, and she calmed down and turned invisible. Sneaking herself behind a tree, she morphed back into a human whilst the girl was approached by a guard.
Maggie sighed and saw she wasn't spotted, but the two would-be attackers seem to have gotten away. That is until she seems to have spotted where they were hiding using her ability to see using her thermal vision.
Seeing them, she decided to relay the information to the security guard. "The two guys are hiding behind those bushes.'
The guard then checked it out and immediately took the two of them in once they were spotted.
"Okay. So, what have we learned today?" Maggie asked as she walked through the zoo, keeping herself away from others. "I'm able to see the DNA of anyone, animal or human, and once I see it, I can become it. And I also seem to have the ability to blend into the area. How and or why is this happening to me?" She sat down on the bench and started to think back when things started to change. "Could it be because I was holding Mr. Mix when I was struck? Maybe some of his powers got zapped into me?" She then scoffed and laughed it off. "Nah, there's no way. Nobody can get superpowers from an animal."
Back with the National City team, they had gotten Silas back to the Watchtower in order to talk with him about getting into the Phantom Zone.
"My husband was falsely accused of theft and sentenced to six months in the Phantom Zone." Silas told them the reason he tried breaking into the Phantom Zone. "They took Owen from me. It was so unfair, I had to get him back."
"But they caught you attempting to break him out." Morgan guessed.
"How do you all know about this?" Silas wondered; lost how they know so much.
"My mother ran the Phantom Zone." Kara explained to him. "You stood out to her, and she really wanted her Granddaughter back."
"You're the only person who's ever broken into the Phantom Zone." Nia added. "We need you to teach us how."
"You must understand, I failed." Silas informed them. "And you will fail, too."
"Silas, no offense, but we've got a few of the smartest people on Earth in this room. I think we can learn from your mistakes and see where you went wrong." Peter assured him.
"I'm sure I can replicate the technology that you used to break in." Brainy agreed with Peter.
"The tech is the easy part." Silas informs the team. "It's the Phantoms you have to face. People talk about the Zone as a place where time doesn't pass, but that isn't what makes it terrible." He then stood up and walked away from the group to then face away. "It's the creatures that give it its name. They feed on your fear by making you live it." He then turned to face them all again. "They're like shadow spores that creep inside you and infect everything good and right and then turn it against the host. Eventually, you forget that the Phantoms are doing it to you. Your nightmare becomes your reality. That's when you go insane. Just like my husband."
The team were shocked about the story of the Phantom Zone, as they've never imagined it being that bad when they got Morbius out of it and sent him back.
"Well, that was depressing." Cessily muttered to herself.
"We're sorry for what happened to your husband." Peter apologized, wishing he could do something about it. "But right now, you have the chance to help us save someone we love."
"Super-Arachnid, their daughter, is in there." J'onn explained to Silas. "We're trusting you with this information because you're the only one who can help. And we think you're the kind of guy that would. Please, help us."
Silas looked around the room and saw they were desperate for help. "Okay, I need a pen."
"Good man." J'onn patted his shoulder and led him where he can find this.
A text alert came off from Alex's phone and she saw her mother was in the city. "I gotta go pick mom up from the airport, I'll be back."
"Right, yeah, go." Kara assured her as Alex went to pick her up.
Dawn sped into STAR Labs with Patty close behind and both let out a sigh of relief when Barry sped inside the labs.
"What happened? Are you two okay?" Barry asked as he pulled the two people he loves close.
"Black Hole tried to assassinate me in the CCPD." Patty explained and looked over to Dawn. "Dawn sped in and took care of the assassin before they could get a hit in."
"Yeah, you wouldn't believe who was there." Dawn stated as she gestured to her body as an example. "She was like a full-on Terminator. Half a robot face, cannon for an arm, and I'm sure she even had a robot foot."
"Oh, god." Barry sighed; at least happy they were alright. "At least you guys were able to make it out."
"Where's everyone else?" Patty wondered, looking around the labs.
"Peter's in the middle of an interview, Caitlin's in her class, Tina and Tommy are who knows where, and Ralph and Daniel are doing a bit of shopping with Frost and Violet to get her settled in." Barry listed out everyone's location. "But I'm not sure where our Atlantis Princess is."
"I'm here." Tula called, getting their attention.
"How long have you been here?" Dawn asked, shocked she missed her speeding through.
"Oh, I'm here to pick up this." Tula said, lifting a device that looked too familiar for most of them.
"Why do you need Captain Cold's gun?" Barry asked, getting worried.
"Tommy sent me for it, said he got a lead on where Sandgirl was gonna hit and needed this and me there fast." Tula said and looked over to Dawn and gave her a smile. "What do you say?"
Groaning after just running around the city to save her mom, Dawn walked over and grabbed Tula before speeding off.
Karl was walking down an alley to get home when suddenly someone dropped down from above behind him.
"Hey!" She cried out, immediately getting Karl's attention to notice it was Tina with snow-white hair.
"What?" Karl asked, acting casually.
"You like beating on defenseless kids?" Tina asked as she marched over and pushed Karl. "Huh? What? Don't wanna fight when they can fight back?"
"What the hell are you talking about?" Karl asked, getting confused.
"I watched you. You beat on that defenseless kid." Tina stated.
"I think you got the wrong guy." Karl stated, playing dumb.
"I don't have the wrong guy. You just picked the wrong day." Tina stated as she grabbed his arm as Karl went to punch her and Tina twisted his arm backwards. "What? I thought you liked fighting."
She then punched him in the face, sending him flying into some garbage cans. That created a noise that got the attention of a nearby officer who watched the fight.
"Hey!" She cried and ran down the alley, scaring Tina off as she ran down the alley only to see it's a dead end. "Hands up!" She demanded, revealing her face to the officer.
But before the officer could arrest Tina, she leaped and started to climb up the side of the wall, shocking the officer.
"Tina Snow-Parker?" She asked in shock.
Even weirder than that?
Tina was currently finishing up the upper half of the Steel Spider suit. The mask, chest plate, and the exoskeleton of the suit was done and ready to go.
"That chip worked like a charm." Ollie informed Tina as he was wearing the suit and showed off the four metallic arms coming off from the chest plate of his suit. "Four metallic arms, ready to be used, the web shooters work like a charm. All that's really missing is the footing and early warning system."
"And, you know, the entire outer shell of the suit, the steel plating, there's a lot of work that still needs to be done." Tina stated as she was working on the code to get on the early alert system.
Luckily, she and Tommy understand the science behind their Spider-Senses and knew there actually was a way to make a code for it. But she also needed to make it look like she knows nothing about what she's doing to protect her identity.
"I know. It's just...I can't believe this is almost a reality." Ollie stated as he was placing the outer shell of the suit up on the manikin that they had made for it.
"Can I ask you something?" Tina wondered, taking a break as the computer calculated the code.
"Sure." Ollie supposed as he finished taking the suit off.
"Why does this suit thing matter to you so much?" Tina asks.
Ollie stopped and looked over to her to answer. "When I was five, Spider-Man saved my science fair project from a group of bullies."
Tina recognized that memory as her dad talked about that being how he already knew Ollie a little.
"And then a few years later, I was taking a trip with my parents. It was during the holidays, went out to visit relatives. Then Doctor Octopus came and attacked the bridge we were on, fighting Spider-Man."
Tina also recognized that memory as that was the first time the public caught wind of Timmy and her in their suits. "Must've been scary."
"It was. But then I saw Winter-Spider and Spinneret." Ollie continued his story. "Fighting alongside Spider-Man and Flash, as if it was a casual thing to them. It got me thinking...being a hero didn't just have to be for the older people. Being a hero means more than just being a certain age or having some power."
"Powers sorta help." Tina muttered, considering she does indeed have powers.
"It's about having the courage to do what's right, no matter the cost." Ollie continued to explain why he's trying to create this suit. "And, well, thought that maybe creating this suit would help me help others like he helped me. Inspire others to believe that they can also do things they never thought imaginable."
Tina was surprised to hear it wasn't because he wanted the glory of being a hero, to feel the adrenaline of the hero. It was because he wanted to have others feel inspired. But then her senses went off, causing her to look to the door and saw as Yuri Watanabe came inside.
"Captain." Tina greeted as she saw the screen got a coding for an early warning. "Is this about the break in and the Black Cat?"
"Actually...no." Yuri admitted as she pulled out a tablet and showed footage coming from the officer camera. "Officer Greer Grant took this footage off a fight with a kid named Karl Moffet. We were hoping that you could explain this."
Tina looked and watched as she saw herself beating the defenseless kid and then running away, revealing her powers and was completely shocked.
"Well?" Yuri asks.
Tina looked up and down from the tablet and the Captain, no idea what to say or even think as he watched her white-haired counterpart beat up Karl.
"There is a logical explanation for this..." Tina promised, taking a minute to think of it as Ollie wasn't believing the footage, considering that she was with him the majority of the day. "I've got nothing."
