Author Note: The Twilight Saga is a franchise owned by one, Stephanie Meyer. This is a fanfiction based on that franchise. I do not own Twilight or any of it's characters. I only own Becca Swan and this story.
The morning rain falls gently down over a cloud of fog as Becca lights a cigarette on her way to school. She slept great considering it was her first night in a new place. Not new, she had to keep reminded herself of that. It was just, newer for her. She hadn't been back to Forks in four years. Considering the path her life has lead down, four years felt like forever. She rounded the corner towards the high school, rolling down her window, tossing the smoke out into the rain before entering the parking lot. Her truck brought plenty of attention as groups of students turned to the roar of the engine. This wasn't exactly surprising, considering that she just moved back the first week of March which happened to be right after February vacation. For a small town, it was only natural and completely unavoidable for everyone to know she was coming. "Forks High School. Go Spartans." Taking a quick once over of herself, Becca approved of her outfit. A black hoodie that hid a green tshirt underneath, dark blue jeans, black boots and an Offspring baseball cap that she pulled her pony tail through.
"Nice ride." a student comments as Becca exits her truck.
"Thanks," she responds before walking up stairs. Staring at her schedule, she smiles at her music theory class. Another violin skill class. Another chance to blow the students of Forks High away with her musical talent. Just as she had down in Kagniz. She loved playing violin though she was still waiting for it to arrive in the mail.
"Hey, you're the new student Rebecca Swan!" Becca looked up as an Asian American student approached when she paused by her locker. "Hi, I'm Eric. Vice President of the school paper. Anything, you need; tour guide, lunch date, a shoulder to cry on?"
"I'm more the independent lone wolf type." she responded.
"Excellent title for your feature. Can you tell me a little bit more about yourself?" he sure was fishing for answers. And what was she to say? I hunt vampires wasn't exactly something she wanted the world to know. But she had to give him something.
"Great! I play violin and ride dirt bikes in my spare time."
"Awesome! This is really great stuff."
The first five hours of school weren't so bad. So far Becca had managed to impress her Language Arts teacher with her recanted of details from Of Mice and Men, stun her Music Theory teacher with her ability to play violin at a college professor level, and her gym teacher thought she was incredibly well built for a high schooler. Of course they didn't know the truth behind her mask. Finally lunchtime strikes, as Becca sits at a table with friends Jessica and Angela. As the side door opens, a breeze rolls in. Here? There's one here? She can smell it in the air and boy, is it strong. The smell of cold, frozen glass fills the room. As if she is inhaling tiny frozen particles, Becca glances in the direction of the breeze. There isn't just one, but five. They are pale. the color of fresh pressed porcelain. To the room full of humans, they could pass for ivory skinned. But Becca knew better. "What's with them?" Becca chimes up, catching Jessica's attention. Surely, the popular girl had to know something. Five vampires in one school was an awful lot just for one place. Five in all of Forks, easy but five in one room? That was almost suicide.
"Them?" Jessica points her fork in there direction, nonchalantly. Internally though, Becca rolled her eyes. The gesture was more than obvious. "That's the Cullens. They moved down here from Alaska earlier this year. Doctor Cullen and his wife adopted all of them. And, get this, they are together together."
"What do you mean? Like they're dating each other?" Becca slowed her mouth movements. It would be easy for Jessica to hear her but it made it harder for someone across the room to hear what she was saying.
"Well yeah. The beautiful blonde; that's Rosalie. She's with the big brute, Emmett. And the short punky one is Alice and she's with the stiff, Jasper. And the lonely is Edward." Jessica blushed uncontrollably as he smirked at the sound of his name. If he weren't a vampire, Becca would definitely find him attractive. He was tall, about eight inches taller than her, so about six-foot-two. He was lean but muscular. His dark amber hair was combed back, giving him a regal look. Becca looked back at her sandwich. Was the cafeteria tuna salad even really tuna? "Hey, Edward Cullen is looking at you." Jessica chimed up. Becca of course knew this. She could feel him looking at her. His aura was pulsing with heat. It reminded her of a cold burn. She looked over her shoulder and locked eyes with the black eyed boy. He was hungry, and definitely dangerous until he fed. The rest of the group has honey gold eyes. They had fed recently. Edward seemed annoyed as he quickly got up and left the cafeteria. Becca followed suit, her last class of the day, Biology would be coming soon. Purposely, she walked right passed their table. She would not be intimated.
As the rest of the day droned on, Becca was dying for a cigarette. Last class, Biology. She told herself. Becca walked into the full classroom to see Edward Cullen glaring at her. Great, just what she needed. And on top of it, the only seat left available was right next to Edward Cullen. As she sat down, she could heard the gurgle of disgust in his throat. No worries, fangboy. Feeling is mutual. She wondered if he could smell the difference in her blood. She wondered if she smelled sickly sweet to him. If the scent of her made his mouth water. It wasn't exactly her fault, the branding of the tattoo did that. She was designed to be a vampires biggest weakness. It threw them off their guard, made them vulnerable. One more advantage on her side. She would have to let the Vigil know. They would want to know about this.
BZZZ. Becca's phone vibrates in her pocket with a text that her violin has arrived at Fork High. The bell rings, and Becca slips herself through the throng of students towards the school office. Opening the door, she pauses. Edward Cullen got there just before her. How fitting. "It's fine, I'll just have to endure it." He hisses and moves passed her out the door. Clearly, she caught him trying to switch classes. A smile of victory creeps across her face.
