Jason's POV
Three weeks later, Chiron said, "Percy, Jason, Leo, Calypso, Will, Nico, Annabeth and Piper," please assemble in the big house."
We all went to the big house.
We sat down around the ping pong table, and Chiron said, "You know how Greek mythology is real?"
I did not like the sound of this. The fact that Greek mythology is real nearly got me killed dozens of times.
"Well," continued Chiron, ``Harry Potter is real too. Dumbledore is an old friend of mine.
It turns out when you realize one "Fiction" world is real, accepting that another one is real is much easier.
"So what?" Will asked.
And, you will be going to Hogwarts this year."
Now, that was surprising
.
"Why?" asked Annabeth.
Well, said Chiron, they have this thing called the triwizard tournament, where three schools compete against each other for a prize. Only this time, professor Dumbledore has invited us to compete.
He understands that we need to train how to fight monsters, but he insists that you at least take DADA and potions. The rest is optional.
I really did not like the sound of that. Snape was mean.
I will take you all to Diagon Alley to get your stuff. We will be going by Floo powder.
Annabeth started talking. "Is it safe? Because Harry ended up in Knockturn Alley when he did it. We have to say 'Diagon Alley"' clearly. otherwise, bad things will happen. Also…"
While she was talking, Leo grabbed a bag labeled floo powder from the shelf, threw some powder in the fireplace, and said Diagon Alley, before jumping into the fireplace. Annabeth kept talking. "Also, we should…"
Leo POV
After I jumped into the fireplace, I did what it said in the book: I said the location clearly, I kept my elbows tucked in, I kept my eyes shut, and I didn't fidget. somehow, I did it wrong. Well, you can't expect a double ADHD kid to not fidget. I found myself choking and spluttering in the fireplace. I just hoped I said Diagon Alley clearly. If I ended up in the wrong spot, well, It would be the end of the McShizzle. I felt like it was the end now. I was choking and spluttering like I never had before. Suddenly, I got pushed out of the fireplace, and into…where was this place?
The first thing I did was inhale air. My throat had gotten really clogged up with all that dust and soot. I wished I had brought a water bottle.
Then, I scanned my surroundings. It looked like I was in a train station. I looked behind me and saw a row of fireplaces, and a sign that said "Diagon Alley Floo powder transportation center " Well, it wasn't a train station, then.
Calypso POV
Leo really worried me sometimes. He was so stupid to just jump into that fireplace! He didn't listen to Chiron's security lecture. I hoped he was not dead.
After Chiron had talked us through floo powder, we all jumped into the fireplace and ended up in Diagon Alley. Leo was already there. He looked at me and asked, "Did you bring a water bottle?"
Will POV
When we got to Diagon Alley, Annabeth and Calypso told Chiron they wanted to take all of the subjects. I was a bit surprised by Calypso, but I guess it made sense because Calypso's power was magic.
First, we went to buy wands. We wandered through Diagon Alley, buying Leo some water, and then heading to the wand shop. It was narrow and shabby, and the window was coated in a fine layer of dust. There was one spindly light bulb that hardly illuminated the room. Being a son of Apollo, I was scared of the dark. Trying not to hyperventilate, I cautiously stepped into the shop.
There must have been a motion sensor or something, because as soon as I stepped into the shop, a bell rang. However, being scared of the dark, I naturally jumped back, crashing into Jason, who fell on to Leo, who in turn fell onto Percy.
I looked back at the shop, and saw an old man with eyes that shone like moons staring at us. Upon noticing me, he said, "These must be the demigods. Come in, come in."
I stepped into the shop. It was lighter than it looked.
After we stepped into the shop, the man, who was the wand seller, Mr. Ollivander, started sizing us up. Then, he pointed at Percy. "You, which is your writing hand?"
"Right. Or is it left? Which one is right again? I forgot…"
"Percy, you use your right hand," said Annabeth, exasperated.
"Right," said Percy, embarrassed.
Ollivander gave him a wand and said, "Try this. Unicorn hair and poplar. Thirteen and a half inches. Try swinging it in your right hand." Percy swung it in his left hand.
"Wrong hand," Ollivander sighed.
"Oops," Percy said, swinging it on his right now. The wand sent out a shower of stars. "Bravo," Leo said in a baby voice. Chiron glared at him.
One by one, everyone got their wands. Some took longer than others, but in the end, I was the only one without a wand.
"Try this. Ollivander handed me a short wand,"
I swung it. No luck.
Ollivander handed me a long wand. No luck.
It tried wand after wand. It seemed like I had tried the whole shop. I was afraid I would be told that no wand wanted me, and that I couldn't go to Hogwarts.
"Unicorn Hair and Rowan." Ollivander said, handing yet another wand to me.
I swung it. Immediately, my whole body felt warm, like I was eating ambrosia. I could feel power surging through my arm and into my brain. I looked at my wand, and saw what felt like the entire night sky coming out of my wand.
Chiron paid fifty-six galleons and we left the shop. I was glad to be in broad daylight again.
The rest of the shopping passed quickly. We bought some books. We bought some potion supplies. I really wanted the solid gold cauldron, and I was sure it would have pleased dad.
However, Chiron didn't want to waste his money.
After buying, we went to see the owls. We had a look at the broomsticks too. Whenever Jason looked at one, the broom would levitate and start banging on the glass, and in the end the shopkeeper kicked us out of the shop. We bought ice cream before heading back to Camp Half-Blood.
