Growing Up
(Percy and Ron)
Ron was having a hard time learning from Percy and he used to remember how easy it was to learn from Percy. It confused him and Percy was getting frustrated. How could his little brother be so stupid? He wasn't like this before. His biggest problem used to be pronunciation and some wand movements.
"I don't understand how you aren't getting this Ron." Ron looked away from his brother. "It isn't that hard. I know that transfiguration itself is hard but the theory is easy."
He grabbed the book and pointed to a paragraph. Ron read it and began to understand what he was learning a little better.
"I get it. Transfiguration is hard because it needs to be visualized, needs a lot of magic, and needs the proper wand movement to work. The reason it is hard is because people tend not to balance the three out and are unbalanced."
"Correct."
"So the reason why I couldn't transfigure my match into a needle was because I didn't visualize it in my head."
"Yes. Now write the essay." Ron nodded.
"Hey Percy?"
"Yes Ron?"
"When I met Godric his mum said something and I was wondering if she was wrong." He told his older brother.
"What did she say?" He asked, giving him his full attention.
"She said that since Godric was the boy-who-lived he was very special and nobody could punish him or anyone he was friends with. She also said that we would get the best grades because no one would dare fail us." Ron told him.
Percy was shocked. No wonder his brother changed so much. She told him that by being friends with her son everything would be handed to them on a silver platter. That was wrong. It also explained why Godric was the way he was. Time to give his brother the truth about the world.
"She was wrong. Listen Ron and listen carefully. No matter who you are, you can still get into trouble and people can still fail you."
"So what we did to Reese was wrong." He realized.
"Yes."
"I won't apologize in a letter. I'm going to apologize to him in person tomorrow during breakfast." He announced.
Percy smiled at his brother proudly. "Good."
They continued until Ron had three essays done. They would finish the rest the next day.
(The next day)
Harry was the first one to wake up once again. His grandfather wanted to eat in the Great Hall to show people that Harry wasn't dangerous. He also needed to change the schedule. After breakfast they had a meeting with Professor Snape then they needed to continue Harry's training. After that Harry was to go to lunch then go help out in the greenhouse.
Allen didn't want to overwhelm Harry with training so letting him help in the greenhouse was a great idea. Harry would be relaxed and his magic would then be at rest.
Harry took a shower and got dressed. His grandfather told him to meditate in the mornings so that was exactly what he did as he waited for his aunt and grandfather to wake up.
When they did wake up they smirked at Harry's choice of clothing. He was dressed in a black t-shirt that said in white letters "Warning: I am cute and dangerous!" He then wore dark gray sweatpants that were covered in warning signs.
"Only you, my dear nephew, would dare to wear that." Minerva said to Harry.
"Thanks aunt Minnie."
They left for the Great Hall. Once they arrived a lot of eyebrows went up when they saw Harry's clothing. Not even muggleborns and muggle raised witches and wizards would have worn such clothing. Harry took one look at their faces and started to giggle.
Once again the tables were devoid of silverware, plates, goblets, and food. The headmaster stood up once the last person entered the hall.
"My dear students It has been brought to my attention that some of you sent letters to your parents complaining that professor Mcgonagall plays favorites with her nephew. I am very disappointed in those who did. To solve this problem I will take over as mr. Reese's transfigurations teacher." He informed them with a smile.
The entire student body, including Harry, stared at the headmaster in shock. Even the teachers were shocked by Dumbledore's announcement. This was the first time he would teach transfigurations since he became headmaster.
"Mr. Reese, you will come to my office when you have transfigurations instead of going to class." Harry nodded as he came out of shock.
The headmaster sat down and the table was filled. The students began eating and gossiping. Harry and his grandfather grabbed food and began discussing potions.
They were interrupted when Ronald Weasley made his way over to them. "Mr Reese, I apologize for what I said to you yesterday. I was jealous and misguided but most of all I was wrong."
Harry searched Ron's face before determining that he was sincere. "Apology accepted." Ron nodded and left to deal with Godric.
When they finished eating they made their way to the dungeons. As they were about to enter professor Snape's office Brandon came into view.
"Daddy!" Harry ran and jumped on his father.
"Why hello my beautiful son." Brandon said as he hugged Harry before placing him back down. "Hello dad."
"Brandon."
The three entered and waited for Minerva and professor Snape to arrive. Harry snuggled into his father and began telling him about his training.
"Ah good you three are already here." Minerva said as her and Professor Snape entered the room. "Now Severus, why did you want to talk to us about?"
"Mr. Reese has shown great promise in potions and I was hoping that he would become my apprentice." He told them.
They four looked at the potion master in shock. Never before has he taken in an apprentice and never before has one been so young.
"Are you sure professor?" Harry asked.
"Yes I am. You were the only first year to have read the book and do the steps carefully and thoroughly. I am deeply impressed." He admitted.
"What about Granger?" Harry heard about the first year Gryffindor girl who was just as smart as him. "What about Malfoy?" He knew about their relationship. "Surely you want someone older than me."
"While Miss Granger is smart, she is also too annoying and a perfectionist. If I was to criticize her she would most likely burst into tears." He sneered as he thought about it. "Since Mr Malfoy is my godson it is illegal for him to be my apprentice. At this moment no student besides yourself and Mr Malfoy are interested in this line of work."
"Dad?"
"Go for it." Brandon told his son. "You told me you wanted to be a potion master and this is a chance of a lifetime to make your dream come through."
"I agree with my son Harry. You are talented and will do well under his guidance." His grandfather.
"Do it." His aunt said.
"I will become your apprentice then." Severus nodded and handed them the apprentice contract.
Once they were signed Severus left to go file them with the ministry and potion guild. Meanwhile Minerva left to go grade more papers. The remaining three walked to the seventh floor. Brandon just watched as his father trained Harry.
(Ron and Godric)
Godric frowned as Ron returned to the table. He couldn't believe that his friend would actually apologize to that freak.
"What?" Ron asked when he noticed Godric's frown.
"Why did you apologize to that freak?" He asked.
"He isn't a freak Godric and I apologized because what we said to him was wrong." He told his friend.
"No it wasn't."
"Yeah it was. We were wrong and that is why I apologized to Reese."
Godric sneered and went back to eating. Ron frowned before he too began to eat. He wanted to get to his tutoring session with Percy early. He had a lot to make up for. When he was finished, he went to the library and began his next essay.
(Potter residence)
James was at the end of his rope. Ever since yesterday when he punished Godric, Lily had been nagging at him to drop it. Kept telling him how unfair he was being and Godric didn't deserve to be punished. James finally escaped to a secret room in the house that only he knew about.
In the room was a fireplace that he had used to floo-call Sirius. "What am I going to do?" He asked after explaining what happened.
"I don't know. Lily's behavior is shocking. I know that almost losing Godric made you both more lenient but this is ridiculous." He said.
"I know. I think that the fame has gone to her head and I don't like it." James sighed. "She isn't the woman I married."
"I have no idea what you should do. Ask Remus, maybe he will know." He suggested.
"I will. Have fun with your date Siri." He said.
"Oh I will." Sirius said with a perverted grin and the call ended.
James decided to floo over to Remus' since he could hear Lily calling for him. Remus was surprised to see him. They had a fight about Lily and James was starting to see that he was right about her.
"James?"
"Hey Remus. I'm sorry for how I acted. You were right about Lily." He said.
James proceeded to explain what happened. Remus put a hand on his shoulder.
"I forgive you. If it was my wife I would have been angry too."
"I can't believe that she has changed into a fame seeking whore. I don't know what to do."
"Don't give in to her anymore. Let her know that Godric is to be treated like every other normal child. Stop her from giving him special treatment." He told his friend.
"Okay. Thank you Remy."
"You're welcome."
James flooed back home. He wasn't going to hide in his own house anymore. He left the room and followed Lily's screams.
"Lily."
"James, where have you been?"
"Here and there. Lily, I know that you think that I am being harsh but I'm not. Our son needs to learn that he can't have everything on a silver platter." He told her.
"Oh Jam-" She tried to interrupt but her husband wasn't having it.
"I wasn't finished. He has to learn to work for what he wants. Just because there are people out there that worship him doesn't mean that we do nor does it mean that he can act like a spoiled brat." He told his wife sternly. "We have been spoiling him and making him believe that he can have everything he wants. He needs to learn what everyone else is learning. No more special treatment."
Lily looked at her husband before she began to cry. "James, how dare you insinuate that our son isn't special." With that she left the room crying.
James shook his head and began thinking of the chores he used to do as a child. He went to his study to make a list. He wasn't going to let his son turn out rotten. He wanted him to grow up to be a respectable gentleman.
Next James contacted the bank to make sure that Lily couldn't purchase anything expensive. He knew that she would try to sneak him presents and he wasn't going to allow it. Those two were in for a rude awakening.
James then flooed back over to Remus'. "Back again?"
"What can I say, old friend, I love you way too much." Remus rolled his eyes.
"What do you want?" He asked.
"To catch up. I talked to you briefly earlier and that was about me. I want to know how you are doing." He answered.
"I write defense textbooks. I also work with the head of the Magical Creature division of the ministry to gain rights for us werewolves and other magical creatures." He informed him.
"Wow. How did this opportunity come about?" He asked.
"The head of the department is Brandon Reese. He gained that job a year after our fight. He hates the bills in place right now and is interviewing and studying magical creatures so that he can reverse more bills as well as get others approved." He answered.
"Reese? Does he have a son?" He asked.
"Yeah. His son is Harrison Reese." He answered, wondering why his friend asked.
"That is the boy Godric and his friend harrast." He informed him.
"They will learn their lesson." He said.
"I hope so." They then continued to talk.
