Author Note: The Twilight Saga is a franchise owned by one, Stephanie Meyer. This is a fanfiction based on that franchise. I do not own Twilight or any of it's characters. I only own Becca Swan and this story.

Don't be difficult. Becca thought to herself as she struggled to open the rusted latch of her hood. She was grateful that the weekend came sooner than she imagined. She had been living in Forks now for about three months and she was surprisingly able to keep her relationship with Edward a secret. At least from the Vigil. She runs her fingers through her dark hair before latching the rod to the hood. She stared into the engine, grabbing the dipstick for her oil and checking it. "Low and like chocolate syrup, definitely needs a change." She wiped the oil on her white t-shirt, grabbing the old bathroom towel and laying it on the ground under her truck. Becca grabbed the wrench and slid under the truck with ease until a thud in the bed of the truck made her freeze. She was grateful that there was enough room to change the oil without needing to use the ramps in the shed. Otherwise this thing would have rolled on her. She shakes her head as she can smell the frosted glass and see the wore out black high top sneakers walk around her truck. It was a bit warmer this weekend in Forks. Earlier that Friday morning had reached mid sixties, another reason why her shirt was filthy. It was a National holiday and she had just finished the yard work.

A pale, ice cold hand reaches under her truck, taking the oil pan from her before she wrenches the plug back into place. "A guest appearance from Mr. Freeze." Rolling out from underneath, Becca places a cigarette between her lips. Once finishing adding the new oil, Edward takes a step forward and lights it,

"I'm gonna take you to my place tomorrow." he says, stepping back as she closes the hood.

"Ah, shucks," she remarks, walking around the truck to dump the old oil in the metal drum next to the house, "There goes my afternoon of Buffy reruns."

"Seriously?" Edward asks as she rolls her eyes at him.

"You want me to meet your family? I'm not so sure about that one." Actually, she was positive a few members of the clan wouldn't like it one bit. She couldn't imagine any clan being okay with having a vampire hunter in their home. "Yeah, they're not going to like me."

"So, you're nervous. Not because you'll be in a house full of vampires but because you think they won't like you?" He leaned up against her truck. Becca took the opportunity to look at him. Beneath his brown leather jacket was a clean white t-shirt, black jeans with the pants cuffs slightly rolled up exposing white socks and black high tops sneakers. It gave him almost a James Dean vibe.

"Glad is amuses you," she huffed as she took a drag and stopped for a moment to kiss his cheek. "They aren't going to appreciate a hunter in their home." She smiles at Edward as his face goes dark. He stares at the bare hood of her truck for a moment. Becca glances out of the corner of her eye at him. "Problem?"

"Minor complication. Don't worry about it." forcing a smile to his face, Edward pulls Becca in for a kiss on the cheek. "I'll pick you up tomorrow." Standing back, Becca watches him get in his Volvo and drive away as a truck comes up the road towards her house. As it gets closer she recognizes it as Billy Black's.

"Hey! Come to visit?" she asks, putting the towel in the back of her truck behind the driver's seat.

"Actually," Billy says as Jacob helps him into his wheelchair, "we've come to visit your flat screen. First Mariners game of the season. Plus, Jacob here keeps bugging me about seeing you again." Becca eyes Jacob who shyly looks away.

"Did he now? Well come out back when you're ready. I got something to show you." Becca made her way back into the house and proceeded to clean herself up for dinner and for her guests. In the laundry room downstairs, Becca pulled off her white t-shirt and settled for a dark maroon long sleeve. She rolled the sleeves up to her elbows and ran her fingers through her hair before she headed up stairs and then out to the backyard.

Jacob Black leaned back against the maple tree in the back yard in a black hoodie, his hair was pulled back into a long ponytail. He smiled as Becca approached him with a black velvet bag in her hand. "So what's this secret you got to show me?" He smiled at her as she point into the woods.

"Follow me." Becca walked back to the obstacle course she had set up. She pulled out two throwing knives from the black velvet bag. "Ever thrown a knife before?"

"Once or twice but I didn't know I was competing with a Charlie's Angel." Jacob looked at the obstacle course. It was certain set up for military style. Was Becca thinking of enlisting after high school? "This is insane."

"This is the basic version. You should have seen the one in Arizona," Becca stepped forward, holding the blade of the knife in her right hand, she handed him one of the knives. "You first." Taking the knife by the handle, Jacob noticed the unique crescent moon designs. Yet, thinking nothing of it, he grasped the tip of the blade. Arcing his arm back he threw the knife, missing the tree about fifteen feet in front of them and landing in the stump about three feet to the left of it.

"Shit," he cursed through clenched teeth only to hear Becca smirk to the side of him, "Hey, I never claimed to be pro." Becca stepped up to where Jacob stood for his throw.

"Nothing a little practice won't fix." She teased, noticing Jacob's displeasure for the competitive comment. And still, he took the bait. Same old story, just new horizons.

"Why don't you show me how it's done then?" He leaned back against a tree as she only smirked in return. If Becca had fangs, she would have shown them in her wicked grin.

"Don't mind if I do." She held the tip of the blade in her right hand, cocking an eyebrow at her childhood friend before she turned, quick as a whip. The knife sailed through the air with calculated ease. THUNK! It nestled its sharp blade in the center of the tree, fifteen feet from them.

"Jesus, are you sure you aren't a Charlie's Angel?" Jacob stared at the tree in disbelief before high-fiving her.

"Definitely not. It's just a hobby." How she wished that statement to be true. That it were only a hobby. "Come on," she continued as she proceed to retrieve the blades, "practice makes perfect."

Saturday afternoon came sooner than Becca had wished. She had spent most of her morning writing and practicing a her piece of music for her violin. Her mild obsession to find the perfect melody had resulted in cracked fingertips that would form into new callouses with time. It wasn't until Edward reached out to hold her hand did she break her concentration of the memory. She had completely let her guard down and allowed herself to forget that she was in his car with him. She allowed herself to forget that they had gone out to lunch, she allowed herself to forget that they now drove the windy road along the coast to the Cullen household. This was dangerous for her. She had forgotten that she was a hunter and her guard was never to be down around their kind. And yet she basked in it. The normalcy illusion was a lovely one. No matter how dangerous it was for her. The drive to his home was longer than she expected as they pulled up to it. The modern three floor, four bedroom, three bathroom home looked almost like a mini mansion. It had large windows and beautiful stained glass doors. As they entered, Edward paused by the entry closet. Becca handed him her red zip up hoodie, now she was just in her white t-shirt, black cargo pants and black hiking boots. She had gone for a small hike with him along the coast after lunch. Had she completely forgot about that too? "Wow, this place is incredible. It's surprisingly bright and open."

"What did you expect?" he chuckled behind her, as he removed his black jacket, now standing in a tight black t-shirt, dark blue jeans with the cuffs rolled up and black high top sneakers. "Coffins, dungeons and motes?"

"No, but those would be pretty badass." She leans in and kisses his cheek causing his aura to reach out, tendrils of warmth enveloping her. The low, soft sound of classical music caught her attention as her body began to naturally sway. Edward wrapped an arm around her waist, tempted to move along with her. But he paused and moved his hand to hers as he ascended the stairs with her not far behind. The second floor was lovely, the hallway that lead to an office room, a library and a dining room all seemed to amaze her. The Cullen's certainly were not like other vampire covens she encountered before. They didn't hide away in the dark, lurking in alley ways. They embraced the beauty of light and life.

"I told them not to do this," Edward grunted as they came around the corner.

"Is she even Italian?" Becca recognized the voice of Edward's sibling, Rosalie. She was taunt. A few inches taller than Becca, her long platinum blonde hair fell down to her lower back where as Becca's dark brown hair fell to her mid shoulders. Rosalie was well tone more so defined than Becca. She stood in a dark blue blouse that ruffled just below her breast.

"Her name is Becca." Emmett commented. The dark auburn hair brute was in a cotton long sleeve that pulled across the his muscular chest. His hands were deep in a mixing bowl as he hand rolled meatballs before tossing them into the frying pan Carlisle had.

"I'm sure she'll love it no matter what." Carlisle commented as a woman with chestnut brown hair and a pretty eggplant dress on turned to Edward and Becca. "Becca!," she exclaimed wasting no time to wrap her arms around Becca, enveloping her in a welcoming hug. Becca returned the hug as Edward gently tugged her back. "We're making italiano for you."

"It smells fantastic." Becca commented as Edward smiled warmly at the woman.

"Becca, this is Esme. My mother for all attentive purposes." Esme was extremely warm and welcoming to Becca. For a moment she wished, Esme was her mother. She had the kind of hug that could make all your worries disappear.

"Nice to meet you." Becca said as she looked around the kitchen, assessing all the hard work they put in just to please her. Vampires could eat, but preferred not to. Most of the time, they ended up throwing up the food later if it was a lot. Drinks still managed to be absorbed over time but took a very long time.

"I hope you're hungry." Carlisle said, holding up the pan with fresh meatballs inside, "I mean, you've given us a reason to use the kitchen." Edward looked at Carlisle sheepishly and rubbed the back of his neck.

It came out lower than a whisper but was loud enough for everyone including Becca to hear, "She already ate." The sound of shattering glass took command of everyone's attention as Rosalie stood. Her hands still shaking with frustration from shattering the salad bowl. Becca elbows Edward in the ribs as he winces slightly. Surprised still by her strength.

"Perfect." Rose comments matter-of-factly.

"Edward bought me a late lunch. But you know what, I'll eat anyways." Becca steps around the glass and gives Rose a reassuring smile that is only met with disdain as Rose glares at Edward. "Can I help you clean this up?" Becca asks as Esme grabs a dustpan from under the sink. Emmett moves to Rosalie's side.

"How considerate of you." Rose remarks, still glaring at Edward.

"Just ignore Rosalie." Edward comments, the words sharp and tight. His fangs flashing slightly, "I do." he smiles at Becca, revealing some sibling angst.

"Yes let's just pretend how this isn't dangerous for all of us!" Rose barks at her brother as Becca crosses the table in front of her.

"No one is questioning that." her response cool, and collected. Becca's hazel eyes leveling with the void of honey gold. Turning to Edward, Becca fetches a cigarette from her back pocket. "I'll be outside if you need me." Placing the cigarette between her teeth, she heads out to the balcony just outside of the dining room. She can still hear the argument behind her.

"The entire family could be implemented if this ends badly." Rose barks.

"She knows that," Edward hisses back at her, venom in his voice, "she could also be killed for this as well."
