A Rocket Adventure

Disclaimer: I don't own Pokémon

Chapter 1

The sun rose over the small town of Pallet, pidges flew over a small cottage house not too far from Professor Oak's lab. The occupants of the house were a ten-year-old girl and her mother, who'd lived there most of they're lives.

The girl's mother named Debbie was a tall woman, with short bobbed blonde hair and blue eyes, she also wore a beautiful blue flowery dress with flowers coloured pink, and a pink cardigan.

She smiled as she opened the windows of the small cottage open, "Ah, what a beautiful morning. I can't believe my little girl is finally ready to go on a journey." She giggled in excitement. She then looked upwards towards the stairs, "speaking of which, she'll be late if she doesn't get up." She mumbled with a sigh shaking her head, as she started on her to stairs and upwards.

The ten-year-old girl was sleeping away in her single bed, her name was Halley, she was quite a shy girl who was slightly afraid of Pokémon. "Honey, are you up? If you don't get up, you'll miss you're chance to pick a Pokémon at Professor Oaks lab!" Debbie called through the door.

Halley jumped up in fright, "whoa…Huh?" Halley sighed when she realised her mother was calling her, "oh, that's right. That's today? I'm never going to make it out on a journey when I don't' like Pokémon…But I guess it might be the only way for me to travel," Halley muttered let out a sigh as she rubbed her eyes.

"Honey!" Debbie called again.

"I'm up mum, I'm up!" Halley called letting out a groan, as she started to get dressed. She decided on a pair of pink shorts and a pink and purple stripe tank top. She tied her long brown hair into a ponytail and she grabbed her purple sunglasses and placed them on her head, she smiled slightly in satisfaction at her appearance.

Halley then tiredly made her way down stairs she let out a yawn, "You better hurry honey, I think all the other trainers may have already claimed their Pokémon. Head on out to Oak's lab and I'll catch up with you." Halley's mother said as she was preparing a purple bag full of things that her daughter would need on her journey.

Halley eyes widened "right on my way!" she called and started running on to Professor Oak's lab.

Halley finally paused in her tracks at the front door of the lab, as the professor was currently watering plants outside, he turned behind himself, when he heard heavy breathing. "Ah…. Halley, I didn't think you'd be coming today. After all, you did explain, that you're not very keen on Pokémon." Professor Oka smiled at the girl as he sat the watering can down.

Halley finally composed herself and stood straight as she rubbed her head sheepishly, "yeaahhhh I know I did say that. But I really want the chance to travel, this maybe the only way I can do it I suppose, and at least I'll have company. I may even get to like Pokemon better."

Oak nodded in understanding, "very well then. There is only one problem, all of the Pokémon have been taken already by other trainers."

Halley's eyes widened, "what even that kinda cute Pikachu?"

Oak nodded sympathetically scratching his chin, "I'm afraid so, that trainer was also late just like yourself."

Halley sighed sadly hanging her head," aw man, guess I'll have to travel alone. I can do that." She said determinedly.

Oak seemed to think, "hmmmm, oh I've just remembered. I wasn't going to give this one out as I wanted to study it more but, I think It'll be perfect for you."

Halley looked up at the professor curiously, "really….what is it?"

"Come this way," Oak said signalling for her to follow.

Heading into the room filled with poke balls sitting on a shelf, the professor pick up a ball sitting on its own and let the Pokémon out. Halley's eyes widened, "an eevee? Wow, I've never seen one in person before. Someone told me they have more than one evolution. Is that true?"

"Eeeee!" The pokemon called in excitement looking up at the human girl.

"Yes, that is right and think this eevee will be a perfect partner for you Halley. He's very friendly." The professor explained.

Halley smiled at the Pokémon, but she was still feeling nervous about having one, "uhhhhhh hi eevee."

"Eeeevvee." Eeevee chirped happily.

"So, would like to take eevee along with you?" Oak questioned with a smile as he watched Halley nervously reach out her hand to clap eevee but she pulled it back, with a sigh.

"I guess I would." Halley said looking down at the normal type Pokémon.

"Excellent, now here is the pokedex and some pokeballs, this'll get you started on your adventure." Oak said handing over a small rectangle red box with a blue light on it and ten small red and white balls.

"Thank you, professor." Halley said smiling gratefully.

"Honnnnnnnney…good morning professor!"

"Ah, Debbie nice to see you again!" Oak greeted.

"Hm…..Hi Mum?" Halley said as she looked up to see her mother walking in holding a backpack.

"Oh, is that your pokemon? Oh, I just adore eevee's, hi little one." Debbie beamed as she bent down to pet eevee.

"Eeeee." Eevee replied enjoying the attention.

Debbie turned her attention to Halley, "now honey, I packed just the essentials like spare clothes, food a washing line, some camping equipment."

Halley eyes widened at all the stuff her mother was shoving into her hands and she almost dropped it all, "mum you didn't have to do all this. I could have gotten this along the way."

"Oh, Halley I had to. I'm your mother, I'm supposed to do this. Now, please remember and call me every time you reach a Pokémon centre and tell me how you're getting on. Remember there's no shame in calling it quits, if you don't think you're able to do this, but remember I believe in you. I'm also just so proud of you." Debbie gushed tearing up a little as she pulled her daughter in for a hug.

"UUHHHHHH, mother your kinda crushing me here. I can't breathe…." Halley said a bit muffled.

"Ooops sorry dear I can't control myself sometimes. I'm just going to miss you so much." Debbie said softly as she wiped a tear. Oak chuckled a little at the familiar scene.

"It's okay mum, and don't worry I'll try and call every time I get to the Pokémon centre." Halley said adjusting her sunglasses.

"Okay Halley, remember I love you." Debbie said as she stepped back a bit.

"I know mum, I love you too." Halley smiled.

Soon professor Oak and Debbie were outside the lab watching as Halley made her way up the pathway heading out of Pallet that would lead to the next town. Halley gulped as she started on her way, after having returned eevee to his pokeball. "Okaaaayyyyy, I can do this….Time to start my adventure." Halley mumbled as she gripped her backpack.

"Bye Halley, good luck on your adventure sweetie!" Debbie called waving to her daughter.

"Yes, good luck Halley!" Professor Oak added.

Halley smiled turning her head and waving back, "Bye guys and thank you!" Halley yelled back and waved until she was out of their sight.

Debbie sighed as soon as her daughter was gone, "I can't believe my baby girl is out on her very own Pokémon adventure, even after what happened when she was so young I didn't think it was going to ever happen. I hope she'll be alright."

Oak placed a hand on her shoulder, "don't worry Debbie, she'll be fine, she has eevee by her side."

Debbie smiled at the professor and nodded, "yeaaaaaahhhh.
