A Rocket Adventure

Chapter 2

Halley had made it half way outside of Pallet town, she turned around, and gazed at the pathway in uncertainty, "wow, this is really happening. I'm on an adventure. So, do I just travel, or do I even try and beat the gyms? Hmmmmm." Halley sighed as she lowered her head, "should of thought about this more, how can I be a Pokémon trainer? When I can't even touch them, or be too close to them."

Halley rubbed her arms as she started walking again, her eyes opened wide in surprise when the pokeball that eevee was in opened and the Pokémon popped out. "Eeeeeevvveee." Eevee chimed as he shook his fur and turned to face its trainer.

"Eevee…I didn't call you out….Do you not like being in there?" Halley questioned as she bent down to her knees, the pokemon shook its furiously.

"Eeee." The pokemon chirped.

"Ohhhhh, would you like to walk with me?" The trainer asked.

Eevee nodded and walked up the her and tried to rub against her leg, Halley's eyes widened in fear as she backed away quite which startled eevee, who stared on in worry. "Noooooo!" Halley yelped. She started to shake a little, she calmed down a little when eevee lowered his ears.

"I'm sorrrrry…Eeveeeee, I'm just a little nervous around Pokémon, don't you worry I'm trying to get better," Halley sighed sadly as she held her arms together in shame.

Eevee eyes opened wide but he nodded in understanding, he slowly walked up to his trainer and sat down in front of her. Halley looked up at the Pokémon, "huuuuh…" She smiled when eevee nodded at her. "Thank you…Eevee f-for understanding…" Halley said as she stood up again.

"Well now, shall we continue? I know we need to make it through that forest to reach Viridian city." Halley said with her hand on her chin. "and I know there is a gym, but I'm sure I heard that that's the very last gym. I guess we could ask Nurse Joy…Huh, Eevee?" Halley said looking at her pokemon.

"Eevee!" Eevee nodded as he walked beside her.

As Halley and eevee walked through the forest eevee could tell she was a little frightened and stuck close back but not too close. She heard whooshing noises which slightly unnerved her, "huuuh…did you hear that eevee?" Halley nervously asked.

"Eeee." Eevee nodded.

Halley then heard a buzzing noise and a beedrill buzzed by her startled her bad, "ahhhhhh!" She yelped.

"Eeeeevvvee!" Yelled the small pokemon as the beedrill flew off.

Calming herself down and patting her chest she let out a sigh "gee, I hope that doesn't happen very often." Halley said and let out a breath. As she composed herself another shuffle in the bushes caught her attention, suddenly a young boy wearing catching gear jumped out.

Halley yelled as he tried in snare her in his neat, "haha, beedrill I gottcha!" He cheered not realised he'd caught a person.

Halley squirmed about, and she frowned at the boy, "excuse me, I am not a beedrill!" She exclaimed in annoyance.

He finally looked up "huh…" He grinned sheepishly as he lifted the net off, "oh, uh sorry miss. If you happened to see a beedrill fly by I was trying to catch it, but it's so fast one of the strongest I've seen. I guess I thought you were one."

Halley sighed as she was out the net, "oh, I did see one, and no I'm not as you can see."

"My apologises. Say are you a new trainer by chance?" The bug catcher asked in curiosity.

"Um, yeah how'd you know, and I'm just starting out with eevee here," Halley said as she signalled to her partner.

"Awesome, well how about a battle? It's easy to tell when a trainer is new," The boy said in excitement.

Hally gasped at the question, and she nervously shook her head shuffling her feet as she stared down at eevee, "I'm sorry but I haven't had much experience in battle yet."

"You gotta start somewhere right, how about with me?!" The trainer urged.

Hallley let out a breath this trainer wasn't for giving up was he, eevee nodded at her in determination "eevee!"

"You want too eevee?" Halley asked scratching her chin. "Okkkkkkaaayyyy," She said with a nervous nod.

"Alright, come on out caterpie!" The bug catcher yelled. "Piee!" His caterpie chirped.

"Go, eevee." Halley yelled softly.

"Eeee!"

"Caterpie use tackle!" The bug catcher yelled.

Caterpie aimed for eevee but the furry pokemon was able to dodge it, he turned to his trainer asking for guidance, "uhhh, what's eevee attacks…..I'm sure I've read it somewhere, um eevee tackle!" Halley yelled.

Eevee nodded and aimed back for caterpie, the two kept going like that for a while until both were running of energy. Eevee huffed and huffed as caterpie did the same, both pokemon tried one last time to attack but both fainted. "Eeveee!" Halley exclaimed in a panic as she ran to her pokemon.

"Return caterpie, thank you pal, rest up." The boy said as he called his pokemon back to its ball and he walked up to Halley. "Here give eevee this, it should be good once ya do, but still let nurse Joy give it a check over, when you get to the pokemon centre." The boy suggested as he handed Halley a small bottle.

"What is this?" She asked curiously examining it.

"It's a potion, helps pokemon after their battles, it's good to stock up on them regularly." He explained.

Halley nodded with a smile, "thank you for the advice and the battle."

"No problem, keep it up, and you'll gain more experience, now I gotta go, that beedrill can't be too far away, see ya!" The boy cried as he ran off in the direction behind Halley, she turned and looked on as he ran away.
