Author's Note: Let us all pour one out for the missing. Not just Allen, Lavi, and the angels trapped in the Fallen City. I can't wait to see how the Komui mystery will unfold. What happened to him? Did he get spirited away? Is he "dead"? Or did he go into hiding? You are going to have to stick around and find out. I don't know just yet what will happen next week. I have to look through all of my old ideas to see what I come up with. For now, enjoy this week's key.
Key One: Missing:
More angels have been going missing lately. Not just on the endless battlefield. Some angels have started to disappear around in Heaven. No one can figure out why. They didn't notice until Komui went missing.
There were several missing posters around Heaven. Young and old. Male, female, and other.
Case 1: Allen Walker
Missing for two years. He was last seen during the Great Crash. There are still several angels missing from the Great Crash. The paperwork is still a nightmare. Some of it has been cleaned up. However, there is still work to be done. Allen was a high-priority case. Searching for him has yielded no results. The higher-ups feared the worst. Once an angel is in the Fallen City, they might as well be dead. However, there are a few who won't give up. This is Allen after all.
Lenalee is the main one leading the search. She knows that Allen is still out there. She didn't give up looking for him. The angel of death wondered how to go down the Fallen City.
"No! Don't do this!" Komui shouted.
"I have to try!" his sister said. "We haven't looked there yet."
"Even if he was there, how are you going to get him out? How will you get him out without getting trapped down there yourself?" Lenalee went quiet. She hated how he had a point.
"I… I…" she said. The angel of death dropped her head. Komui put his hand on her shoulder.
"I know how you feel," he said. "I want to find him too." Lenalee pulled away from him.
"Then why isn't he home?" she asked. Komui didn't have an answer. His sister turned and walked out of the office disappointed. He hated to stall her like this. But he didn't have anything to give her.
She isn't the only one to ask questions.
There are still questions about where Allen went. Komui has kept his ear to the ground. He already knows that the angel is in the Fallen City. That puts him in a difficult position. Heaven is already stretched thin in an endless war. They don't have the supplies or manpower to look around in the Fallen City. Still, Komui has to do something.
In truth, there is another motive to look for Allen.
This war has been getting worse. Things were bad enough as it is. Now, there is a change that happened in the living world. You guessed it! A certain baby has made things worse. This is why they need Allen back. He might be the key to fixing everything.
If only the could see him now…
Case 2: Lavi
Missing for two years. Lavi was also on the battlefield. Only he didn't end up in the Fallen City. They found out what happened to him. However, they don't know where he went now.
You see, Lavi is on the run. You already know why. The question is how long can he keep this up before he gets caught? He knows what will happen it if does. In fact, there is a bounty on his head. The angels are out looking for him. They last tracked him somewhere near Hong Kong. Since then, he was gone. But angels aren't the only things after him.
The boy has demons on his tail. They have different business with him. They want to know where his son is. He refuses to talk. They would have to kill him first. But he can't die so…
How long can Lavi keep this up? He doesn't know. But he is going to try. Oh and he's on his own with this. Not even Stacy can help him right now.
Case 3: Komui Lee
Missing for three weeks. This one caught everyone's attention. No one has been in the office. There isn't even a mess inside. It's like he just simply got up one day and vanished. Not trace. But something isn't right. Komui didn't show any hints of fear or panic. Everything seemed fine. People don't just disappear when things are fine.
His employees are trying to solve this quietly. One angel suggests that this reeks of a cover-up. All eyes fell on him.
"What? It could be true!" he said. No one could argue with that angel. Something wasn't right. They couldn't quite piece it together.
They decided to look at the evidence.
Komui was looking into something before he disappeared. One angel saw him leaving the archive closet. What was he doing there? There were two boxes of files marked as checked out. But they were nowhere to be found. There has no record of them being destroyed either. So where did they go? Did Komui take them away?
Komui didn't pick up the phone in his home either. They checked his apartment. He hadn't been there in days either. The whole place looked clean. If someone was looking for something in here, they did a good job of putting everything back. Nothing looked out of place. His mail and paperwork started piling up. It was the landlord who had to unlock the door. The angels slowly walked around inside.
"Do you see anything out of place yet?" one of them asked.
"No," another one said. They checked all of the rooms. Nothing. There was no one in sight and nothing out of the ordinary. The neighbors haven't seen him either.
"Is he okay?" one of them asked. The angels didn't have an answer.
This is where things get weird.
Two days ago, his keycard pinged the system. Someone was trying to access the database. Surveillance wasn't of any use. There were ten seconds of footage missing and the angel's face was distorted. The receptionist doesn't remember who was at the desk.
"Did you see their face?" one of the higher-ups asked. The receptionist shook her head.
"No," she said. "I'm sorry." A hand rested on her shoulder. The angel looked up. A smile lit up in the dimness.
"It's okay," a voice said. "It wasn't your fault." The receptionist nodded. More clues were to follow in this grim and confusing puzzle.
Meanwhile, Lenalee has no idea what is going on back in the Japanese office. The higher-ups are struggling to keep her out of the loop while she takes her mind off of Allen. They already know that isn't going to work. But it's going to have to do until they can fix the Komui problem. How long that will last? Even they don't have any idea.
It just keeps getting worse, doesn't it?
Case 4: Ophelia
Missing for eight years. Even some older angels were listed as missing. She is one of those cases.
Is anyone still looking for Ophelia? There had to be somebody who missed her. There had to be. Why else would her poster be on the wall?
She isn't the only one.
But who is still looking for Ophelia? There might be one person. But what about the others? Do they have someone looking for them? How back do these missing angels go? Did they still have people looking for them? When is it time to give up? Are those angels just forgotten over time?
That can't be. Somebody has to be looking for them. There has to be. Well, there is.
Every morning, an old woman walks up to the shrine out in the garden. Nobody knows who she is or where she came from. They just let her be. She isn't hurting anyone. She just comes by and leaves flowers as the shrine of the missing. They are always poppies for some reason. There are so many that anyone can't figure out about her. None of them tried to approach her. She just leaves the poppies, seems to say a prayer to herself, and leaves. The old woman always comes in the morning. They still couldn't figure it out. However, such a mystery took a backseat to their current problems.
There are more posters appearing on the wall each day. The paperwork keeps piling up. Angels keep disappearing each day. Everyone was looking for the answers. But no one knows where to look. However, there might be a clue in their near future.
They just need to look all the way in England.
