Cat's at the end of week 34 of her pregnancy
"Cat we need help catching Lucy, she snapped when I hugged her this morning" says Dustin
"where is she, I don't have the energy to run around, what is she saying" says Cat
"she's hiding, I don't know where, since the diagnosis of paranoia she's been off, she thinks it's some conspiracy to take me and Sofie away from her" says Dustin
"did she have anything sharp with her before you lost sight of her" asks Izzy
"no but I don't know if she grabbed something, I'm losing hope, she's not the lucy I fell in love with anymore, she's changed" says Dustin
"Dustin, this IS who she is, with you by her side she got bold, she stopped asking my permission to talk to spirits that I did not send her way, you have to understand she's never had a spirit lie to her before, that's what caused this, a spirit at the hospital gave her massive fear of the doctors there a big boost, I didn't react fast enough, she's not strong enough to resist the will of Malevolent spirits, they put ideas in her head, Cat think of Lucy's soft hair, what do you see in front of you" says Izzy as Cat closes her eyes
"a queen bed with navy blue satin sheets…., which room is that" says Cat opening her eyes again
"Zoey's room for when they visit, Jade keep an eye on the security cameras, Violet, Ariel come with me, we have some hunting to do" says Izzy as Violet and Ariel follow her
"what do they mean by hunting" asks Sofie scared
"a spirit attached themselves to her, they're feeding images to her, Lucy doesn't realize she's still in the house, the spirit bad intentions or not is confusing her, she didn't snap because you hugged her, she snapped because when you hugged her the spirit 'transported' her to wherever they wanted to show her, it could be as simple as the hospital or as bad as the place they died" says Cat as the floor shakes a little, as if being tuned to a frequency by a tuning fork
"what's happening" asks Dustin as the shaking abruptly stops and the security system freaks out
"jade shut them off, it will only make Lucy worse, they've pulled the spirit to them and are getting answers, the spirit is angry and is messing with electrical stuff as they can do if the spirit is strong enough, it's possible that Lucy offered to help the spirit cross over, Izzy said that spirits can mess with your reality to give you information if you offer to help and they can't explain it" says Cat as Jade silences the security system
"will this kind of thing keep happening to her or will it get better" asks Sofie
"Izzy and Ariel were hoping to ease her into the helping spirits thing, if she offered to help a spirit before she was ready it can have a jarring effect, especially if the spirit had malicious intent, not every spirit can be helped, once spirits realize you can see them…. well let me just say they can get pushy, Lucy has a big heart" says Cat
"will it keep happening to her" asks Dustin
"that depends, with training she can get better at pulling away when they get manipulative, depending on how she responds coming out of this she might ask to have her gift taken from her" says Cat
"you can do that" asks Jade
"it's a big decision but yes we can, except for a few situations once you give it away there is no asking for it back" says Cat as the floor again shakes as if being tuned by a tuning fork
"what kind of situations" asks Jade
"trauma usually, big surgeries or when you're recovering from an accident, for example when I went into the operating room my vision went black as if someone had put a perfect black blindfold over my eyes, when I finally came out of the operating room I couldn't see any connections, it was an odd feeling, as if someone took a part of my life away, three weeks later it returned, I almost wanted to have it taken away permanently because for the first time in my life I felt normal, I didn't see how one person was connected to another person, I was almost happy about losing it for the three weeks, but that's just me" says Cat as Ariel, Violet, Izzy and Lucy walk down the stairs
"how bad was it" asks Valerie
"bad enough, the spirit was an attempted murder victim who died in the hospital" says Ariel
"wouldn't that be murder not attempted murder, what did they want with Lucy" asks Jade
"the two incidents aren't connected, she didn't die of her wounds, she died because the doctors were racist and didn't treat her as an equal, they constantly delayed her meals so she would suffer, she choked to death" says Izzy
"did Lucy offer to help her cross over" asks Cat
"yes, Lucy's intentions were pure but she didn't understand the situation, the woman died saving her daughter, the man that tried to kill her wanted her daughter, offered to buy her daughter and the woman refused to sell her only child, Lucy said she'd find her daughter for her, it's been a week, the spirit got upset, I told the woman I'd find her child" says Izzy
"did the spirit cross over" asks Valerie
"not until she knows her daughter is safe but I told her to follow me and to stop expecting a child to help her, I have a name" says Izzy
"what's the girls name" asks Valerie
"Lucille Francis-Brock, she's five, the mother trusted Lucy because her daughter also went by Lucy" says Izzy as Cat closes her eyes
"where does she think her daughter is" asks Valerie
"she doesn't know, the ordeal happened at whole foods market in Burbank a couple months ago, her daughter is mute, the guy wanted her to groom for the sex trade because she's Asian and can't speak" says Izzy as Cat opens her eyes
"mom she's starving, she's on the side of the Ventura freeway between North Hollywood way and West Olive Avenue, she didn't go far" says Cat
"how do we get her to trust us, I'll send David right away" says Valerie
"animal ears, they shared a love of animals, she said she would tell her that if they ever got separated that she'd send someone with dog ears to find her, and that she could trust that person" says Lucy hugging Dustin and Sofie
"David will feel pretty silly wearing dog ears" says Valerie
"then go and meet up with him and take Bella, she's a friendly dog" says Jade
"will that work Isabella" asks Valerie
"more or less, also call me Izzy not Isabella, my time as cute little innocent Isabella is over, I'm in a relationship that could get me killed if the greater Valentine family finds out" says Izzy as Bella runs over to Jade
"is Bella safe to take out for this kind of thing" asks Valerie
"oh absolutely, she loves little kids, she'll protect this Lucille with her life, just don't pick her up, use this blanket" says Jade handing Valerie a blanket
"why" asks Valerie
"she just had puppies last week, she's a little sensitive by her back end, the last puppy almost didn't make it, the puppy got stuck, I had to rush her to the vet that lives in this area, Bella's fine otherwise, she's very friendly" says Jade expertly picking Bella up
"but you just picked her up, why can't I" asks Valerie
"because she's in a biting mood, I picked her up very carefully, as long as nobody else picks her up she won't bite, she even has trouble with me picking her up sometimes, when I say biting I mean nipping, it's more playful than anything but she uses it as a warning, please just hurry" says Jade walking with Valerie to the car
4 hours later as Valerie returns with Lucille and Bella
"well she has no family left, the local judge said keep her in a safe location until a determination can be made, David arrested the man that killed her mom, he was very angry that we found his 'prize' before he did, would you keep her safe" says Valerie as Lucille signs to Izzy
"what's she saying" asks Lucy
"she's saying thank you, she's saying that 'Lucille' Lucy's always have each other's backs, no matter the ethnicity…. Ok I maybe added a few words there, she's five Lucy, she's just happy to be alive, just as we were back then, you remember the fear, that's why you helped her mom find her so that she could move on, you didn't want a fellow Lucy living in fear" says Cat
"but I failed, Izzy had to help me, I'm not fit to help spirits, I panic, I can't do it" says Lucy as Lucille signs back
"you didn't fail Lucy, you didn't know how to ask for help, there's a difference, when I was your age I was absolutely terrified, I thought I was absolutely nuts, I could see things nobody else could, I didn't ask for help because I didn't believe what I was seeing was real, you have a paranoia disorder, it makes things harder but not impossible" says Valerie as Lucille hugs her
"mom, Lucille there wants to stay with you, she doesn't want to stay here, as for Lucy, I guess I wasn't a great role model after all, Vera's influence on me taught me to be staunchly independent, I guess that doesn't work that well when it comes to being a parent" says Cat sort of ashamed
"mommy disagrees, she says you raised me better than she'd ever have been able to, that she'd have gotten angry about me being a lot early on puberty, that she might have even hit me" says Lucy
"I never said that" says Valerie
"Valerie she means mommy mommy, as in spirit mom, our original mom, she's here" says Ariel
"ugh I miss her so much she warned me about my ex being a creep, I should have listened to her, I almost lost custody of my kids because I didn't realize she was using her gift when she said that, all those years of hating her for judging my ex only for her to be right, she hates me for not realizing Cat and Lucy were on the streets doesn't she, I'm a terrible mother and an even worse aunt" says Valerie as tears run down her face
"mom, mommy hid us from you, she said Kitty needed to learn how to raise a baby because she'd have kids before she was twenty, that me being a problem baby was important" says Lucy
"ugh… does she hate that Andre's black too, Florida outright banned my clothing line, as did Alabama and Georgia, that's a lot of money lost, I'm under so much pressure, I feel like I should just close Soft Samantha down, it's a costly business, it's not worth the threats on my life" says Cat
"don't you dare, you opened that company to honor your mother, don't you dare shut it down Catarina Melanie Valentine, you can't get up on stage and sing your heart out because of your anxiety and fear, Ari Granduer stuck her neck out for you releasing your music with her voice, oh and she's on her way, she got the ok from her mom, she has an interview with a label the day after she gets here" says Valerie as Jade glares at Cat as Cat slinks away, embarrassed that she forgot that Ari was coming
"CAAAT, did you make a promise to your cousin without asking me first, you know this neighborhood is a closed loop, everybody knows everybody, an outsider from another city is generally closely monitored, someone from another state will be absolutely monitored, possibly even strip searched for drugs or guns" says Jade upset
"it's not Cat's fault, Ari was coming for the big day anyway, the label jumped the gun, sent a plane to pick Ari up without asking her first, it was a rushed affair and without Cat's edibles she can't be held accountable for not remembering Ari was even coming, with the hormones raging along with her instability she's lucky to remember she sleeps on the second floor of this house, besides Ari's from Florida, she's heard all this great stuff about Cat's clothing brand but because of the idiotic ban she can't get her hands on any, the one time she tried the Florida state police nearly shot her to get the package from her, they're treating Cat's clothing like a deadly drug, now apologize to Catarina before she starts bawling her eyes out" says Izzy in a very firm condescending tone
"Cat I'm….." says Jade as Andre cuts her off
"stop right there, you know you don't mean it Jade, we ALL know you don't mean it, there are days where you treat Cat like crap because she can't tell left from right or spills drinks on the floor, you don't know what it's like for her, yesterday her prosthetic feet came loose at the top of the stairs, she took a step and fell down the stairs and managed to grab one of the posts stopping her fall and breaking one in the process, you came out of your room fuming and yelled at her for twenty minutes, ever since she's been here you've been harping on her, if you have an issue with her being here let us know, Cat has enough money to buy her own house" says Andre as Cat looks down as she speaks
"no Andre, I deserve it, she invited us here for security, I'm clumsy, I know better than to leave the room by myself, I zone out a lot and at the worst times, I've ruined rugs, blankets, I've broken cups and bowls, yes we could move to our own house, I've had my eye on a house in Malibu for awhile but with all the expenses Soft Samantha has incurred with shipping, acquiring the fabric, paying the workers a livable wage and the construction projects for new manufacturing and storage facilities in new York and Oregon and with twins coming buying the house would cost me almost every penny I have, until the constructions are finished I simply do not have the cash, my stupidity in desiring the highest quality product has strained the amount of cash I have available" says Cat continuing to avoid Jade's glance
"in all honesty Cat I'm jealous of what you have, incredibly jealous actually, my childhood doesn't even remotely compare to what you went through but I can count on one hand how many times my parents ever told me they loved me, they were never proud of me, I'm the youngest of three and my siblings hate me, not only are you starting a family but your siblings actually care about you, they support you in everything, nobody in my family would have been this supportive of me if I were in your situation, they'd have made me have abortions until I was at least thirty, any boys I'd date would be threatened with death if they so much as thought about me in a sexual way, in fact that's exactly what my dad did to several boys I tried to date, not only did my dad ask for Tori's incredibly personal medical records but he said even if he got them if he ever saw her he'd hold her at gunpoint until she proved she loved me, any pictures Tori sent me were immediately confiscated by him, you have a family that loves you with every fiber of their being, I had a family that would have killed me and anyone I had feelings for at a moments notice, I've known nothing but fear and anger my entire life, the only time I was ever remotely playful was at school, it was the only time I could be myself, when I yelled at you for breaking that post on the stairs it wasn't because you broke it, it's because I WANTED to, I felt cheated, when my dad took over ownership of the house when my granddad died he remodeled it, he made it a man's dream home, I was the only girl in this house besides servants and my mom, seeing you ruin things I wanted to ruin so I could make this a sanctuary for girls, it angered me, even though the ruining was by mistake a fire burns in me, a fire that is often directed at others when I get upset, it's not my intention to make you feel unwelcome, I just can't control myself when others break or ruin things I've wanted to break or ruin my entire life, if you want to remodel something please don't be afraid to ask, if it was up to me I'd burn this whole house down and start from scratch" says Jade as tears roll down her face
"if you're really asking us to stay Jade, could Violet and Katie be moved to the room next to ours and the wall in between be taken out so it's one big room, we need space for the cribs and Katie and Violet having direct access would make it easier to 'co-parent' as Cat's decided to call it" says Paige hugging Cat and Andre as Jade nods in agreement
"Lucy would like a dancers pole, like the one at Tori's old house" says Dustin
"I'm not saying no but I need to know why" says Jade wiping the tears from her face
"she's put in a few pounds and the new rules are hard for her to follow, she's come close to breaking them four times since they were put in place and twice since her diagnosis, she feels that the cardio and resistance training involved will burn off excess… sex drive… and make the rules easier for her to follow and she says that when she'd practice with Quinn supervising she felt less paranoid though she didn't realize the paranoia was an important thing to tell her doctor" says Dustin cringing at the word sex
"Valerie what do you think, is it a good idea" asks Jade open to the idea
"with proper floor padding and as long as she remains in underwear and a bra and not naked while using it I have no problem with it, Cat what do you think" says Valerie
"it did help her last time, not just lessening her paranoia but Improving her mood overall, her dream was to be a gymnast after all, pole dancing is a full body sport, if it helps lessen her paranoia and helps her mood without medication technically she could compete" says Cat
"that's good but if Lucy's the only one using it, it might be too expensive to install" says Tori
"oh once these babies are out of me if I have the energy I'll be using it too" says Cat
"all of us Valentine's might as well give it a try too, maybe Lucy can teach us a thing or two about flexibility and youth, might give her something to look forward to" says Izzy
"you're insinuating that she might enjoy seeing us in spandex, I'm not sure I like that" says Cat
"what are you worried about Cat, you've been in maternity lingerie that you had made for yourself for the past month while aceing school work" says Ariel
"I don't want her seeing parts of us that she shouldn't see, we are not Sofie or Dustin, as for what I've been wearing it's because I'm pregnant and autistic, lately regular clothes have been bothering me, they don't fit the same, that kind of thing bothers me, besides I told Lucy that I do not and will never see her in a light other than as my little sister, Violet is different, she's my twin and her gift is a direct compliment of mine, its different but it works in the same way" says Cat as Violet tilts her head in confusion
"how is my gift a direct compliment to yours, I hate my gift, it's torture for me" asks Violet
"because you've let it run your life VV, which with some gifts is unavoidable but ours are directly linked, to the great power that Christians call God we aren't two people, we are one person, you have to understand Violet that we have a connection to the spirit realm, it's one of the things our family was known for in the old times in Italy, we were Oracle's and prophets and people who speak to the dead and give messages, back then one person had all the gifts, imagine how overwhelming that would be, imagine how exhausting that would be, you weren't given a gift you couldn't handle, it was your kidnapping and years long disconnect from me that caused it to be so overwhelming, Ariel noticed the same thing being away from Izzy, them crashing together with Lissa may be wrong but they follow the rules, nothing sexual can happen between them, just like us, sure we talk about fantasies but you and I established the difference between fantasy and reality and we enact said fantasies on Katie" says Cat
"switching back to company talk why don't you ship to Canada, I know many people in Canada that would absolutely buy your products" says Violet
"I don't have enough brand recognition, my pr rep has talked to company officials in Canada, they won't send truckers down to pick up anything unless I have brand recognition, being a small company is tough, even if my profits are high, Soft Samantha exploded in popularity very quickly, we don't have enough spare cash at the moment to make ads in Canada, as it stands Soft Samantha is a word of mouth company, we went from LA only to all California in a matter of months, from there other states were begging for supply to meet the demand, unless that changes in Canada I can't afford to pay for shipment to Canada if nobody buys them or not enough people seem interested in it, that's why companies won't play ball with my clothing line" says Cat as Violet brightens with an idea
"I know somebody in Vancouver that can help" says Violet
"and I have a plan, Cat I won't ask you again but please trust us, I have an ad idea that will show Canadians why giving your brand a chance is a good idea" says Ariel
"I trust you guys every day, you've stopped me falling down the stairs hundreds of times, more even than that recently, is this ad idea a one time thing or do you have more because I don't have an ad person, if you want the job its yours" says Cat
"Lissa's the idea person, I'm the reality person, as in I can tell if an idea is feasible, ad ideas do not come to me very often, Lissa has tons of ideas, she'll wake up in the middle of the night with an amazing idea then get bummed out because you don't like doing ads because Soft Samantha is already bigger than you expected" says Ariel
"ok how about this, as the people person you talk to ad companies but Lissa is on as your advisor, you'd get twenty dollars an hour or lump sum from ads and she'd get eighteen fifty an hour or also lump sum from ads" says Paige
"we'll take the lump sum but not until after we see how it goes in Canada, Lissa won't feel comfortable taking money from you for ads that fail, while this ad idea was mostly my idea she's the one that made my idea possible, she's gotten video reviews from some of your customers, she's compiled a list of common pros of your products from these videos and asked for permission from these people for possible use in an ad if it ever came to that" says Ariel
"Violet, who's this person in Vancouver that you know that can help" asks Cat
"the family that took me in after my kidnapper was arrested at the border, they run a very successful ad company, it's the top advertising company in British Columbia, they grew just like you grew Soft Samantha, it's not the biggest company mind you but it is the one that a ton of people in Canada have seen ads from, politicians use them for their political ads in Washington state they just expanded to Alberta, I sent their youngest some in hopes they'd love it and beg you for an ad contract, the youngest absolutely loves them, her mom says she's never been so calm" says Violet
"did you pay for the clothes before sending them" asks Cat
"I'm not dumb Cat, obviously they were paid for, I sent them because I was paid, in my mind they paid twice as much as they should have but the exchange rate makes it impossible to pay dollar for dollar, Jade paid for overnight shipping" says Violet
"send another to them free of charge and email them about a possible ad spot, Jade is there any chance you could spot me for an ad spot in Canada" says Cat as Violet nods and heads to send the email and order the clothes
"that depends on the cost, I'm not sure how the IRS would see me spending more than half a million dollars, I just paid four million in taxes for the various properties" says Jade
"I paid one and a half million dollars they encouraged me to spend more, I didn't know someone could pay so much in taxes" says Cat
"that's the company tax, most big companies wiggle their way around paying out big for taxes, you should get a nice rebate soon for that, I donate about a million a year but I can only do so because the companies that got transferred to me make millions of dollars every year, unlike my father I actually paid my taxes fairly, I owe more later this year to compensate for back taxes he owed, once I'm square with them I'll owe about half of what I paid this year but I'll be in my mid twenties by then, but at least West Corp will be square, ask Violet to get a quote and I'll talk to my lawyers about it, more than likely they'll want my investment to be insured in some way, like shares in your company or stocks or something in return for the investment" says Jade
"if I know VV she's already made that as part of the email, she's smart like that" says Cat
"I don't know how you manage to keep your hands to yourself with her, even though she's your sister, smarts and being hot that's a hell of a combination, if I were in your place I'd be all over her" says Tori
"we focus those feelings onto Katie, her and I kiss sure but everything else is focused on Katie, she knows the rules, I know the rules, Katie loves the attention" says Cat
"have you eaten recently, I know I need to eat" says Tori
"I need to know, did you actually get pregnant so I wouldn't be alone having kids" asks Cat as her and Tori take food out of the fridge
"more or less, I was more jealous than anything, I'm due in November, November fifteenth to be exact, I love the idea of being a mom with Jade and Rosie, I just hate waiting" says Tori
"I assume Trina and Kei are moving here to help raise your kid, Kei was talking to me this morning, she said you'd talked to Jade about it" says Andre
"Jade needs to remodel first but yes that is the idea, Kei sold the mansion that was given to her when her dad went to jail, it sold for fifteen million dollars, she said she'd fund an extension to the house, my dad owned about half of the bell air crest hill this house is built into, we just need a permit" says Jade
"is it really that easy, why did he own half of Bell Air Crest hill" asks Cat
"it's technically all of Bel air crest hill and everything from the highway to Hollywood hills, it was an attempt to make it harder to develop the land, to keep nature a part of Los Angeles, it was an attempt to calm me down because I hate the exhaust smell big cities have, this house was here before Bel Air Crest got as densely populated as it is" says Jade
"how easy is it to get a permit" asks Andre
"the permit is only required for building new buildings or amenities, demoing walls don't require permits as long as we keep all load bearing walls in place, at worst we might only have areas of entrance instead of wide open areas between your rooms, though Lucy, Dustin and Sofie would be on the other side of Katie and Violet, would you like that wall down as well" says Jade
"if possible I'd like a door between them but no I don't want that wall down" says Cat as Lucy looks at Cat in confusion
"why, do you not trust me" asks Lucy
"we're a family Lucy, like it or not you're very attached to Violet and Katie, our friends from PCA will be back this summer, Carly and Dana tend to jump to conclusions, you're not like girls your age, you're more sexually mature, with that comes extra responsibility, Violet is going to teach you about girl stuff, it's important you learn this stuff before things get too serious between you, Dustin and Sofie, we don't want you falling prey to your sexual desire Lucy just yet, I had to learn this stuff myself and some of it was hard to take in, I'm going to have twins in a few weeks Lucy, even with all my research things still took me by surprise, there were things I just wasn't ready for, some of the information is Valentine family specific, the door isn't for us to spy on you guys, it's a no judgement door, if you have questions all you'd have to do is open the door, no having to use the hallway, believe it or not Dana has on a few occasions already assumed you barge into my room to try and catch Andre with his pants down, it's easier this way, no judgement, I don't want you to be afraid to ask questions like I was, I have ten email accounts so I couldn't be tracked when I asked the internet certain questions about sex, I was too afraid to ask people, it made me very scared, I was afraid of being judged, my gift allows me to see your fears Lucy, I don't ever want you to be afraid to ask questions" says Cat
"what's cousin Ari like, is she going to hate me" asks Lucy
"She's a lot like you, she started puberty at just before seven years old, people called her names, usually calling her a freak, guys got icky around her, expecting her to be easy to win over sex wise, it only got worse when she started buying my songs and recording them, people got insanely creepy, camping outside her house where she lived with her family, usually looking for autographs but there was always that one creepy guy looking to get in bed with her, she's bi like you and me but she trends to the girl side, she met this girl online a few years ago who actually lives nearby, I say nearby but what I mean is Beverly hills, it's one of the reasons she's so eager to come out to LA" says Cat
"what's the girls name" asks Tori, knowing almost all the girls in Beverly hills around her age
"I don't know her first name, Ari wants to keep it a surprise, her last name is Verni" says Cat as Tori sighs in relief
"Felicia Brenda Verni, dad used to patrol Beverly hills a few years ago, Felicia is the only Verni in Beverly hills, Felicia has been sleeping with her friends there for a few years, before that she slept in the park or on the street, her family disowned her because her ears are small" says Tori
"what's Felicia like" asks Cat
"you really want to know" asks Tori
"yes, I want to know what Ari's girlfriend is like" says Cat
"when I knew her she was stable, her friends parents were covering her anti-psychotics but the price kept going up and they had to stop last year, she has to be tied up so she doesn't hurt herself or others, her phone is completely locked down, texting only" says Tori
"is she aggressive" asks Cat
"not on purpose, she tried this weight loss medication and it completely screwed her over, she nearly died, she was allergic to it but nobody realized, nobody thought to check the ingredients, to save her life the doctor had to put her on risky medication, the normal stuff wasn't working, it altered her perception of reality but it saved her life" says Tori
"will she attack Ari" asks Cat
"I doubt it, all she does is listen to Ari's music, it seems to cool her out, calming her down almost better than the medication did, her psychosis isn't one of anger, it's one of fear, she looks herself in the mirror and can't believe she's alive, she asks people why she's still alive and when they don't answer is when she gets aggressive, her and Ari created a bond of love, one that with every passing day Felicia believes is long distance only, her and I talk sometimes, she wavers, sometimes believing what her and Ari have is real love, other times feeling that Ari was dared to ask her out, she doesn't feel that people can actually care about someone who took something they're allergic to by accident and almost killing themselves, she thinks that because she caused her psychosis by taking that weight loss medication, that nobody can love her" says Tori
"was she ever actually fat" asks Lucy
