The Truth

The car ride home was so awkward; all I wanted to do was tell Sebastian that he was my true love, not my boyfriend, but if the love was not reciprocated I would feel like the biggest asshole in the history of assholes.

"You need to tell him," Ben said to me in a hushed whisper as Sebastian stared out the window of the car.

"Shut up," I said as Sebastian looked at me through the mirror; maybe it was reciprocated, but I was so afraid to ask. Ben kept quiet for the rest of the car ride and I drove in silence, thanking a higher power that the conversation stopped. I sped toward the mansion at top speed and arrived just in time for me to hop out and almost bolt for the door. I wanted out of this situation as fast as possible, but one thing still bothered me: he was going to come after me if I didn't tell him where my mother was. He was going to kill Sebastian and everyone I loved in order to retrieve that information. I had to stop that from happening, but I did not know how. I burst into the library where Ben and Sebastian finally caught up with me and Ben started his shit again.

"Why won't you tell him?" Ben asked with Sebastian hot on his tail.

"Can we please stop talking about this?" I asked.

"What is going on?" Sebastian asked, confused. "Is this about what that possessed girl said?"

"Yes," I said looking at Sebastian, tears welling in my eyes. "I really do not want to talk about it."

"No, you're going to tell him!" Ben said grabbing my arm. Without hesitation, I blasted him back with a beam of blue light and he flew across the room and landed by the arched doorway. I stared at my hands in fear and ran off to another part of the mansion. What the fuck was that? I blasted my brother with a weird blue beam and I had no idea where it came from.

"Your powers are growing," Dach said from the shadows. I jumped as I looked at him.

"Can you not sneak up on someone like that?"

"Sorry," he said bowing as I rolled my eyes. "I know I am not your favorite person, but can I offer help with informing you about your powers?"

I looked at him curiously, "Do you know about this one?" I showed him my hands which were still glowing blue.

"Yes, it is an ancient power that one person in each generation of your family possesses," Dach said taking a hold my of blue hands until they went back to normal. "Hermione had it, your mother, and now you."

"What does it represent?" I asked. We started walking down the hallway as he continued his talk.

"It represents absolute power," he explained, "the power is also accompanied by a staff. Each powerful pure blood family has their own staff and their own magical being that possesses it. Only someone with the absolute power can wield the staff and contain the power without overloading themselves."

"So does each family have their own color?" I asked as Dach laughed slightly.

"Technically no," he said, "the color comes from the person wielding the power. The power picks up the energy and transmits the color based on what it senses. In your case, blue is the most powerful; like a flame. A blue flame burns hotter and longer than other color flames."

"What other families have this power?" I asked.

"All the inner circle families of pure blooded wizards: the Malfoys, the Longbottoms, the Lovegoods, and the Weasleys," Dach said as we stopped in front of my room. "As a sight note, if a member of the families want to be together, their colors have to mix. If they don't it's not meant to be."

"Why are you telling me this?" I asked suspiciously.

"Just for future reference," Dach said bowing and then turning and walking away. I walked into my bedroom and shut the door behind me; I went to my closet to change into something more comfortable (a sports bra and sweatpants) and sat on my bed to read my book. I needed a break from all this drama, but every time I opened the book I saw Mark's face; I saw him lying there on the floor, dead with his neck cracked. I never really like Mark, but I would never want him dead; he was a great guy and very protective of his pack. Now the territory was in danger of being overtaken and in turn, so was mine. I walked over to my large window and sat on the bench in front of it when there was knock on my door.

"Come in," I said still sitting on my bench.

"Penny for your thoughts?" Sebastian asked as my head snapped toward the door.

"I'm sorry I ran off," I apologized.

"It's alright," he said walking over to me and sitting in front of me, staring at me with his handsome, seductive eyes. "Can you tell me what is actually bothering you? We are still close friends aren't we?"

"Of course we are," I said.

"Then tell me what's going on."

I took a deep breath, "It's about this whole true love bullshit."

"Well don't you have a boyfriend? We can keep him safe," Sebastian said as I shook my head.

"He isn't my true love," I said as Sebastian looked at me in shock.

"What? Who is?"

I didn't answer and then a lightbulb went off in his head; his hands rubbed his forehead as with frustration and said, "Why didn't you tell me?"

"Many reasons," I said simply. "I need to keep you safe."

"You need to not hide your feelings around me," Sebastian said calmly, "I have something to confess as well." I remained quiet as he gathered the strength to tell me his secret, "I-" but before he could tell me, there was a voice coming from the door.

"Glad to know I was your second choice," Jon said angrily.

"Jon, I can explain," I said as he shook his head and smiling; something wasn't right.

"I don't need you to explain," he said pulling out a large knife from behind his back and walking towards me and Sebastian. "I sort of knew we weren't meant to be, but to hear it come out of your mouth just hurts a bit more than I originally anticipated. Now I am going to keep your mouth shut forever."

Sebastian stepped in front of me, "You need to back away from her."

"Or what lover boy?" Jon asked smiling, "You're gonna hurt me? Very doubtful since I am more powerful than you could ever imagine." He grabbed Sebastian around the throat and threw him out of the room and into the hallway. Jon slammed the door shut and locked it from standing in the middle of the room.

"How did you acquire these powers?" I asked stepping back as he kept walking towards me with the knife.

"That is not your concern," Jon said, "Where is she?"

"Are you fucking kidding me?" I yelled, "I am not telling you where she is. I am sorry you did not get your way, but Sebastian has nothing to do with this world."

"He is a wizard," Jon said chuckling, "he belongs to the Malfoy family. He is more powerful than you. He will betray you."

From the other side of the door, Sebastian yelled, "I would never betray you!"

"YOU CAN SHUT THE FUCK UP!" Jon yelled at the door as I backed up as far as I could until I backed into the bench by the window. Shit, I was done for. Jon walked up to me with the knife outstretched and took me by the neck. He raised me up as high as his arm could go and I kept going up, this time with the sheer force of his powers. I grabbed my neck trying to pry what ever was holding me, hoping that thing would let me go. I gasped and gasped for air as I felt the magic get tighter and tighter.

"You...don't have...to kill me," I managed to say through a haze. I could feel myself get dizzier and dizzier, but I forced myself to stay awake.

"No I don't have to," Jon said lowering me to his eye level. "But I am going to enjoy torturing you." Suddenly I felt a sharp pain go through my entire body; every organ felt as if they were on fire, my blood boiled and it was so intense it vibrated all the way to my fingertips and toes. I looked down as I saw Jon withdraw the knife from my abdomen and he dropped me where I proceded to put my hand over my wound. I withdrew my hand to find it covered in my blood; this pain was so intense it made me want to pass out, but I needed to stay awake. I grimaced over the pain as tears flowed down my face. "Bye." Jon disappeared and Sebastian burst through the door; his face twisted in pain upon seeing me hurt and he rushed to my side.

"Please stay with me," he said through tears.

"I'm tired," I said trying to close my eyes, but he kept waking me up.

"Stay awake I can heal you," he said as he put his hand over my wound, but I did not feel any different. I closed my eyes, hoping to feel his healing magic but nothing happened.

"I love you," I said to him as I closed my eyes and drifted off the sleep. The last thing I heard Sebastian say was, "Don't go, I love you."
