Author's Note: This key became easier to write once I got on it. Miranda keeps popping up this season. I don't know how or why that keeps happening but I want to see where this plotline goes next. I think I have an idea of what I am doing next week. Meanwhile, the Christmas special coming along. I was stuck but I am moving along thanks to some Reddit posts and pics I saved. I can't wait to see where it goes. For now, enjoy this week's key.
Key Fifteen: Heaven:
Something is going on in Heaven. More and more angels are acting with no motive or memory. It started to spread out to the East.
Meanwhile, Lenalee didn't know what was going on. Everyone hoped to keep it that way. But that can only go so far. We will get into that later. For now, let's get back to the problem at hand.
Linda rubbed her forehead.
"Are you okay?" someone asked next to her. She didn't even look up to address them.
"No," Linda said. She lifted her chin and took a breath. The angel turned to see another angel with curly red hair staring at her.
"Oh, it's you," she said. "What were you saying again?"
"Oh," he said. "I was just handing in the report from last night's tests."
"Thank you," Linda said. She cleared her throat and looked through the papers. The angel stared at her for a moment.
"Are you sure you're okay?" he asked. She glanced up at him.
"Of course I am," Linda said. "I said that I was." The other angel said nothing. She narrowed her eyes at him.
"What are you saying?" she asked. The skinnier angel shrugged.
"Nothing, it's just…" he said. Linda folded her arms across her chest.
"What?" she asked. The angel froze as he tried to think of the right answer. He finally closed his mouth.
"Thank you," Linda said. She turned back to her reports. She couldn't tell him what was really going on. Not just yet.
"If you don't have anything else for me, go find something else to do," Linda said with her back to her assistant. The angel dropped his shoulders and sighed. How was he going to tell her?
There have been more angels wandering around at night. Not just around Heaven either. The first angel sighting was reported in Wales. This is the following account of what happened.
Two men were stumbling home after a long night at the pub. This took place around three in the morning. The sun hadn't even come out yet. These men were acting like typical drunks. One of the men had to stop and take a piss for some reason. His friend paced around before he paused.
"Hey look," he said. He shook his friend on the arm.
"Hey. Hey! Hey!" he shouted. He smacked his friend hard on the back. The other man growled.
"What?!" he snapped.
"Look," his friend said, pointing down the road. He pointed down the road. His friend took a look for himself.
"What the hell?" he asked. A tall, skinny figure stood in the middle of the road. They looked so pale that they seemed to be glowing in the darkness. The figure looked like it was staring up at the sky. The men couldn't make out what they were seeing. Were they seeing things because they were drunk? The figure just stood there in the road.
"Who is that?" one of the men whispered. The other shrugged and shook his head. Neither man dared to move.
Suddenly, the figure turned their head. The men froze. Was it going to charge toward them? Was it going to attack? Suddenly, the figure vanished into thin air. The men were left dumbfounded. What just happened? Did they just hallucinate the whole thing? Did everything really happen? What exactly were they looking at?
This wasn't the only incident to happen.
Miranda wasn't a fan of technology. She even struggled with using a typewriter. (Yes, Heaven still used those.) Here she was. The laptop asked to be used. The angel held the flash drive in her hand. Did Komui leave this behind for her? What did he want her to see? If he didn't send this to her then who did?
She looked down at her palm. Was she really going to do this?
Miranda plugged up the flash drive into the laptop. A window popped up on the screen. There was only one folder in the top left corner.
"The Fall" was the label.
The angel narrowed her eyes. She moved the cursor to the folder and clicked on it. The prompt for the password popped up. Miranda frowned.
"Password?" she asked. "Password?" Miranda tried to dig in her head. She never got one. The angel stared at the screen. She was going to have to guess.
"Heaven." No.
"Angels." No.
"God." No.
"Kami." No.
"Kami-sama." No.
"Eden." No.
Miranda sat back and frowned. What was she missing here? Getting help was out of the question. Something told her that she was on her own for this. The German angel looked at the screen.
"What are you trying to tell me?" she asked. Suddenly, there was a knock on her door. Miranda turned her head.
"Yeah?" she asked.
"The higher-ups want to talk to you," a voice said outside her door. "You got assigned another mission. They think another angel got loose." Miranda sat up and closed the laptop.
"Sure!" she said. "Be right there." The angel hid the laptop under her bed and straightened up her clothes.
Heaven has been acting strange. And things are about to get stranger.
