Gathering the Families, Part 1

Sebastian and I walked out of the institution super confused; how were we going to find all the pure blood families and how would we convince them to give us their books? How did we even know if their ancestors were alive? The car ride home was very quiet; Sebastian was never this quiet and it really concerned me, but I respected his decision and stayed quiet. So many questions were rushing through my head and so many more questions I had for his grandfather. We pulled up to the mansion and Sebastian got out of the car, slammed the door, and walked inside without me; clearly he was upset, angry, confused, and every other emotion under the sun. I walked in after him and everyone met my gaze with confusion.

"Where were you guys?" Harry asked me as I sat down at a table in the main library and rubbed my temples.

"We went to see his grandfather," I said as Hermione got me a glass and filled it with a shot of Scotch.

"You went to see Draco?" Hermione asked in astonishment as I downed my shot of liquor. I shook my head and then put the book on the table.

"He gave us this book," I told them, "apparently it tells of a man who will absorb all the power from all the pure blood books to become this superhuman and defeat the greatest evil."

"What happens to the ancestors when the greatest evil is dead?" Dach asked folding his arms.

"We die," Hermione said pacing the floor. "So Sebastian thinks he is this superhuman?"

"I guess," I told them, "when he touched his family's book, he absorbed all the magic. His book is blank now. And he is freaking out."

"Rightly so," Harry said, "this superhuman person is the stuff of legend. It doesn't exist."

"You were a legend at one point until someone realized who you were," Hermione said, "maybe this is his destiny."

"A destiny he doesn't want," I said leaning back in my chair.

"No one wants to have a destiny," Dach said, "it happens to them. If this is his destiny, he is going to need those other books."

"There are so many pureblood families," I mentioned, "how would we find them all?"

"We might be able to scry for the remaining families," Hermione said, but then her look turned to concern, "I know that one family has been wiped out and I'm not sure where their book would be."

"Before we get ahead of ourselves, let me talk to Sebastian and talk him off a ledge," I said as I got up, grabbed the book and walked to his room. On my way I thought about what Hermione said; if one family was wiped off the face of the earth, who the hell would we get their book and where would it even be? I would think that all the ancestors would be alive, but I guess not. I walked up to Sebastian's doorframe and saw him peering out the window in just sweatpants. I knocked on the doorframe and he spun around; his washboard abs on his olive skin made my whole body quiver. I had to get my mind out of my horny place and focus on what I had to talk to him about. "How are you doing?"

"I have no clue," Sebastian said folding his arms and leaving against the window. "I went to visit my grandfather and like usual he throws some destiny crap at me and expects me to fulfill it."

"No one is expecting you to fulfill anything," I said walking in, "we don't even know if this destiny superhuman bullshit is real yet. Have you opened the book yet?"

"No," he said, "I've been afraid to open it since we received it."

"Well I have it so I can sit with you and open it," I said putting it on a table in the corner. "Maybe it will give us some insight." He shook his head and walked over to the table; he took a deep breath and held me hand. I kissed his hand and opened the book. At first we started to read it, but then it started glowing and shaking violently; suddenly we were transported to another world. We were back at Hogwarts during the final battle and Harry's victory over Voldemort, which was fascinating to watch. Then the images melted away and revealed Sebastian's grandfather as a teenager with his parents.

"We need to leave," Lucius said to his family. "Far away from this place."

"We can't run away," Draco mentioned as his father slapped him across the face. Draco held his face and wiped his bloody lip.

"We are doing what's right," Lucius said as Draco's mother sat in a corner as cried.

"Running is not the solution," Draco said walking over to the bookcase and grabbing a book from the shelf. He slammed it open on the table to reveal a man who had god-like abilities, "Why can't you be more like him? Someone who isn't going to run from a fight."

"We have no place here," Narcissa said to her son, "We must leave."

"The only reason we have no place is because you and father decided to become Death Eaters," Draco said.

"You're one now too," Lucius said pointing to Draco's arm.

"That's only because you tricked me into joining your weird cult," Draco said becoming frustrated, "You are so selfish. Grow up!" Lucius took a fire poker and started to beat Draco mercilessly; Sebastian and I watched in horror and tears started to flow from our eyes. This was painful to watch, but I knew it was relevant. After Lucius was done, he walked out of the room and Narcissa got up to tend to her son. Draco was beaten so badly he couldn't stand or even open his eyes; he struggled his feet and his mother took him into the kitchen to wash his wounds. We walked in after her to watch the conversation take place.

"Why do you stay with him?" Draco asked as his mother wiped blood from his eyes. "He'll eventually kill you."

"I died a long time ago," Narcissa said patching cuts above his right eye. "You need to get out of here. Far away from your father and live your life. Let go of what your father has done and make a name for yourself." Draco hugged his mother, but then the room shifted and we were transported to sometime in the future where we saw a family that looked really familiar and a book of the same variety; the family was sitting around a table, but there was only one young man, a woman, and two other gentleman and they seemed as though they were having an intense discussion.

"There is no changing your fate," said the gentleman with white hair. He seemed to be a close friend or family member and my suspicions were confirmed when Sebastian said, "That's my Uncle Rob."

"Your uncle? What is he doing here?" I asked.

"This is a memory," Sebastian said, "but this isn't my memory." We both looked onward to what was happening; now the younger man was pacing back and forth looking worried and bothered.

"Why am I the chosen one?" he asked, "why can't Sebastian have this gift or whatever this thing is?"

"You will lead this family to greatness," the gentleman said which only bothered the young man more. "You will have absolute power." Upon that statement, the demeaner of the young man changed and he turned toward the woman sitting in the chair; he had a sinister look in his eyes, but but before we could see what he did to her, the memory went blank and the book ejected us out.

"What the fuck was that about?" Sebastian asked holding his head to quell his growing headache.

"This is good news," I said as Sebastian paced the room nervously, "this is good news right?"

"No it isn't," he responded as he started to rummage through his drawers, "you'd be lucky if I was this so called 'superhuman'."

"Who was that younger man? I didn't recognize him," I said as Sebastian gave me a knife.

"You wouldn't. You didn't know Jared that well," Sebastian said.

I gasped, "That was Jared?!"

"Yes and more than likely he will be on his way," Sebastian said, but turned around quickly as he heard something at the door. I turned around and got up swiftly from my seat to stand near Sebastian, knife at the ready.

"I'm not on my way little brother," Jared proclaimed, "I'm already here."
