CH. 10 THE BONDS
13 Sunday September,Morning/Rainy
Step
Today for breakfast you decide to pick something else from the usual.
Since so many good things were being baked in the cafeteria, and you didn't want to waste all your money on eating, you had decided every day to buy a different snack among the things you liked, so that you could enjoy each of them without wasting too much money.
Normally you will pick the nugget sandwich or the cheese pretzel, but this time around you decided to go for something sweet instead, thus ending up picking the choco croissant together with your standard bottle of orange juice, and you headed toward the bench you and the others usually seat to eat your meals.
Gloria was the only one already there, Hop and Aion were still yet to come.
"Hey! Good Morning!" the girl greeted you with a smile.
"Hey! Slept well?" you asked her.
"Oh yeah, yesterday I just fell asleep right after lying on my bed," she answered.
"I guess I was that tired, a lot happened, after all." ended Gloria.
You notice that the girl's cheerful attitude that has come to miss during this last day, seemed to have returned, realizing that was enough to make you smile.
After that, you sat down and waited for the others together with Gloria, with which you started talking about the homework you receive for that weekend and other things school-related.
Not so long after, you were joined by Hop, that greeted both of you with his enthusiasm.
"Gooooooood Morning, Galar!" the boy greeted, referencing a movie that you knew well.
The conversation quickly shifts toward the said movie that Gloria watched too.
In the end, even Aion joined you.
"Hello." the boy saluted with his inflexible expression and adamant tone.
The group was finally complete and after breakfast, you planned on talking about yesterday's events.
Later, after breakfast, the group decides to talk about the Darkest Den events in your room.
Gloria and Hop sat on your bed, Aion sat down on your chair, and you sat down on the floor.
Hop decides to begin the talking.
"So about what happened yester-"
"Ehm before you guys begin, I wanted to say some few things…" Gloria interrupted him as soon as he began his speech, something that Hop didn't take too well, as the boy darted his childhood friend with an emotionless stare.
"I-I wan-want to apologize to you guys." the girl said apologetically as she slightly bows her head.
"Even after all the trouble that I gave you, you guys never left me, and you assisted me in the Darkest Den regardless of my hypocrisy… i- I'm truly grateful for that." she finished her apology.
"Glad you understood that." Hop declared with a smile.
"You have been a pain in the ass, lately." Hop added, Gloria said nothing, but it was clear that she was too embarrassed with herself because of the guilt.
"Well… I… *sigh* nothing, I'm just really sorry…" Gloria said with a defeated tone.
"Really, don't worry about it, you did it for a reason after all, plus we got to discover some new pieces of information on the Darkest Den." you told her calmly.
"First, it seems that the scientists and the people that built the facility have abandoned that world since way long ago, so they should be much of an issue regarding them…"
Reasoning (P4D ver.)
"Somehow these people learned about the existence of the Darkest Den, and they decided to research it, but it didn't end well apparently." said Hop.
"And what even more crazy it seems that my mother was involved in this research too, and now she is suffering from something that she contracted either physically or mentally in the Darkest Den…" added Gloria stoically,
"Plus, there is that weather issue too." you added up to the discussion.
"The Darkest Den seemed to be somehow related to our world, and even more to our collective unconscious…" you continued.
"I meant to ask this since yesterday but what actually is, this "collective unconscious thing"?" asked Gloria with a confused expression.
"Well to put it short during the 20th century a psychologist named Carl Gustav Juglans, came up with a certain concept," you began explaining.
"The collective unconscious, according to Juglans, represents a universal psychic container, a part of the human mind that was shared by the entire humanity,
"Juglans hypothesized that the collective unconscious contained archetypes, types of characters often mythological and symbolic, that manifest themselves in cultures all over the world."
"And the report that we found, said that the Darkest Den is the collective unconscious of the population of Wyndon…" intervenes Hop.
"Does that mean that the mind of everybody in Wyndon is in that place? Even ours?" as Hop raised the question, the three of you instantaneously looked at Aion.
The alien made it quickly clear to you that he had no knowledge of such a thing, by shaking his head and replying with a few words.
"I'm an outsider, I don't have any answers for you." he declared without hesitation.
"The dossier is still with you, right?" Hop asked you suddenly.
"Sure." you replied, getting up to get hold of the dossier, and then hand it to the boy.
"If I remember correctly, there was a mention of the public somehow manipulating the weather in that world, correct?" asked the boy as he was going through the sporadic pages of the dossier.
"That was what the collective unconscious thing was about, right?" Hop asked another question.
"Yeah, apparently rain meant that the public opinion was sad on that day, while cloudy weather meant to symbolize the disgusts of the public opinion, and storm was to symbolize the anger of the public opinion." you summarized what was written on the document.
"That's some pretty peculiar phenomena… wait, isn't there a way for us to prove this statement?" asked Gloria.
"Easy, yesterday it was raining in the Darkest Den… that means that the people of Wyndon were sad for some reason?" said Hop quiet quizzical.
"Did something bad happen yesterday?" asked Aion that until now he seemed to be keeping himself out of the discussion.
"Well not really, I watched the news from yesterday this morning, sure there were a few crimes news but nothing that impactful." said Hop.
"Then… why did it rain in the Darkest Den?" you thought, trying to remember something from yesterday.
"Yesterday, yesterday, yesterday…" Hop kept mumbling to himself.
Everybody individually kept thinking for an answer for himself, after a while thinking, Gloria recalled everybody's attention.
"Guys, wasn't yesterday… the day of the commemoration of the Wyndon Earthquake?"
Suddenly, you and Hop's eyes lit up.
"Wait… you are right!" Hop almost shouts.
"Now that I think about it, the document specified that the event that led to raining in the Darkest Den was actually Remembrance Day…" you speculated after hearing Gloria's affirmation.
"That's unbelievable…" Gloria whispered surprised,
"Hey, Aion is there a way for us to use this situation to our advantage?" Hop asked the silvery-haired alien.
"… yes, yes actually there is."
"Seriously dude? Tell us how!" Hop said impatiently.
"Well you see, depending on the weather, one's elemental attack gets more powerful, you see in my case and Victor, our Pokesoul attacks will get stronger if the weather was stormy."
"For real! That's sweet!" Hop said enthusiastically.
"This information will get in handy the next time we will confront those Shadows." you said, already thinking of some strategies.
"The next time we will return to the Den… we definitely have to find more clues on Auntie Veronica's involvement in this project…" Hop heatedly declared.
Veronica Tyr, she was the cause you and the others ventured in the Darkest Den.
The mother of Gloria attempted suicide, luckily she was saved in time, but she ended up in a comatose state and the doctors seemed to not know the cause of her fatal health issue.
Through some words that she exchanged with the doctor, Gloria discovered the involvement of her mother with the Darkest Den dimension.
"If we could only find the people that were involved in these researches we might get a hit but…" Hop completely shifted the argument.
"Who were they? How did they discover this place? And what was the reason behind their research?" such questions without yet an answer were filling your head.
"A-actually, I have some ideas in regard to that issue…" said Gloria.
Suspicion
"What do you mean?" you asked her perplexed,
"...My mother and my father used to work for the famous Macro Cosmos Conglomerate,"
Upon saying this, Aion reacts in surprise without you noticing him, and the boy concentrates all his attention on the girl's word.
"... My parent never ever talked about the project they were working for as it was extremely secret they used to repeat..."
"...No way..." you thought already understanding where the conversation might be going.
"My parent never said anything regarding that work, which in itself was quite strange, my parents were people who loved to talk and brag about their work, as a matter of fact, the only thing they said was that their work was important and that it was going to change everybody's life,"
"Hop, you will surely remember that one occasion when they brought that up." said Gloria, while the boy nodded in agreement to confirm.
"Yes, I do remember something like that."
"Well, living that apart aside, the other thing that I remember was the names of the people that worked with my parents, seven of them, in particular, were pretty important..." Gloria paused a moment before continuing.
"Because all of that seven are now dead..." Gloria said with a serious expression
A chill rushed down your spine, the girl continued her discourse.
"This people minus one man started dying only until recently, one after another, and one thing they had in common was that they all used to work for the Macro Cosmos..."
"*Gulp*" Hop swallowed the saliva in his mouth, as Gloria continued.
"... those people's names were Alfred Adler, Marcel Malus, Bruno Laburnum, Talcott Pearsons, Franz Buxus, Elizabeth Lotus and... " Gloria seemed hesitant as she was about to say the last name.
"Siegmund Tyr... my father..."
The three of you (even the unshakable Aion) reacted to the word of the girl with astonishment.
"Wa-wait Gloria... are you saying that Macro Cosmos is behind the death of your father and the recent researchers?" you doubtfully stopped her.
"How did you get to this conclusion, to begin with?" asked Hop.
"Well... I think I started noticing this pattern only after the death of the third person involved, the sociologist Buxus..." declared Gloria.
"Of course I have no tangible proof for my statement, but let's say that after the sixth time or so, one might start getting suspicions."
"...Well it seems that we might have a lead after all...", you muttered loudly enough to be heard.
"Wh-what's on your mind?" Hop asked out of nowhere.
"Well...since we are talking about a huge conglomerate... realistically there's nothing much we can do...", you admittedly told your companion.
"Still though, we have evidence that somebody has been in that world and that should be enough, I think that showing them this document will suffice, first thought, we have to be 100% sure that it is the Macro Cosmos the one behind these researches."
"Right now our main goal is to find a way to save Gloria's mother." added Hop, to with whom you all agreed.
"Oh right!" Hop looked Aion
"Of course we're gonna help you with your search as well, Aion."
"Thanks, of course in exchange for your cooperation I will be leading you my help."
"Ok then is all settled, this day marks the beginning of our Research Team!" Hop bashfully said.
"Research Team?" Gloria asked him, raising her eyebrow.
"You now like in those "end of the world" pandemics scenarios, in with humanity is decimated by some mysterious disease,"
"Since the police and really nobody else can help in this particular situation, we are just like the only people able to find the "cure" to this illness," Hop specified.
"What do you guys, think?" Hop asked enthusiastically.
"A research team huh? It doesn't sound that bad..." you said.
"Well... I'm not against it either." Gloria commented.
"Me neither." added Aion.
"Perfect, from now on we are the Research Team"
"Aion?" Hop reached the alien.
"Yes?"
"Mind to guide us as our leader?" he asked him.
Upon hearing these words request the alien gives Hop a quizzical look.
"Yeah, why not your knowledge of the Darkest Den, makes you the most suited between us for this role." you added.
After some seconds of reflection, Aion decided to give his answer.
"Sure why not."
"Then that settles it then... from now on the Research Team is gonna be, led by Aion."
You can sense the bond between you and your friends growing, you feel like you have grown a bit.
The Spirit
Your mind gets filled with the mental image of an orange card for an instant.
THE TRAINER ARCANA. RANK 02
"... what happened... did- did my Confident just... leveled up?" you thought confused.
After this too loose up the built tension Hop started talking about a different argument.
Afternoon/ Cloudy
Heartbeat, Heartbreak
Later that afternoon.
After this morning's events, everybody went his separate way for the afternoon.
Gloria went out with some friends of hers, Hop went in his room to chat with his grandparents on his PC, Aion said he had some urgent matters to take care of, and you spend the time by walking in the borough of Scorenwell to get familiarity with the place.
Scorenwell is the quietest out of the boroughs of Wyndon, apart from three castles of the ancient galarian monarchy and the famous Theater of Latermore, there arent many other well known attractions, and since the three castles and the Theater are at least an hour walk away from the Skybus station, many prefer taking the bus heading toward them to spare time.
Apart from that Scorenwell is a quiet residential area, with most many little discount markets instead of the big department stores you can find in Central Wyndon.
"This area is... kinda like Anville Town..." you thought as you were returning back to the dorm, after your walk.
With that thought of course sudden memories of home returned back in your head contributing to making you feel moody.
"... Hop said that he promised his family to call every weekend..."
"... I wonder if mom and father, are alrig-NO!" realizing what kind of thought you were having you tried your hardest to think of something completely different.
In the search for something to distract you from the thought of your family, you notice a commercial sign of the Macro Cosmos.
Seeing the sign brings back your mind to the chairman of the conglomerate, Rose Pendragon, and how his surname mimics the one of Aion.
"... Today Aion was acting kinda weird, while Gloria was talking about the Macro Cosmos...", you suspiciously thought.
"... His he really connected to that conglomerate's chairman? And if... What is their relationship?" similar thoughts overflowed your mind as you returned to the dorm.
Later toward sunset
Step
"Oh hey!" Gloria approached you as soon as you made eye contact,
The girl was carrying a notebook, the mathematic textbook, and a pen with her.
"Evening to you too." you replied to the greeting of the lass.
Differently from her, you decided to just take your school bag with all the things you needed inside.
"You were heading toward the dorm library right?" the girl asked you confidently.
"Yes."
"Then let's head there together shall we?"
"Sure!".
With Gloria by your side, you headed toward the elevator to reach the third floor, where the dorm library was.
As soon as the elevator closed, Gloria started complaining.
"I swear... what kind of school does give homeworks already on the first week of the semester."
"*Sigh*... you are right, effectively they could have waited a bit before to starting overflowing us with Homeworks..." you laughed it off.
"Right?! This is just so cruel!" Gloria said passionately.
"Well the bright side is that at least they are just some easy math exercise, we will probably finish them in half an hour.", you told her trying to cheer her up.
The elevator reaches the designed floor, the gates open and the two of you get out to head to the library where you will meet the rest of the group.
Butterfly Kiss
"Heyyyyy, listen..." Gloria's voice changed into a more timid tone.
"What is it?" you asked her.
"Well I wanted to thank you for saving us back then during the fight against Shadow Veronica... thinking about it that was not the only time you saved me, huh?! Really though, thank you..."
You can feel Gloria's sincere gratitude, you sense a tie of friendship binding you and Gloria...
The Spirit
I am thou... And thou art I...
Thou has formed a brand new bond...
It shall become the evidence of the unselfishness of the many, overcoming the egoism of one...
Thou shalt be blessed when forging Pokesoul of the Conqueror Arcana...
THE CONQUEROR ARCANA RANK 01
"Again?!", you thought as soon as the voice left your head.
Butterfly Kiss
"Just thinking about how I snapped back at you that time is enough to make me feel so much shameful, I'm so sorry I did that back then, I hope you can forgive me." Gloria told you covering a face with her hand as to not make you see her embarrassment.
"Don't worry about it, really, don't hate you for it, you apologized after all." you reassure her with a smile.
"That's a relief," the girl sighed.
"Well now that I took this boulder out of my stomach, I would like to invite you to take an ice cream with me tomorrow, you know as a way to apologize..." said the girl.
"OF COUR-ehmmm, yea-yeah sure why not!" you replied rate quickly and enthusiastically, realizing that you tried to act cooler about it, making this even more embarrassing and pathetic.
"Perfect, then let's go tomorrow after school alright!" Gloria seemed to ignore your just now poor displayed attempt of acting cool.
"She is so beautiful when she smiles!" you thought.
"A-anyway Hop and Aion are waiting, right? Come on let's go do our homeworks." you said trying to move on from the situation just now.
The girl nodded, as you walked toward the library.
After completing your homeworks you spent your entire evening with your friend.
Monday 14 September, Morning/Clear Sky
Tranquillity
As you were getting ready to get down for school your phone suddenly started ringing, perplexed and wondering who might be calling you this early in the morning you picked up the phone.
"Hello who is this?"
"Good Morning, Client, it's me Klara." replied the feminine voice over the other side of the phone.
"How did you get my number?, wait- how are you calling me to begin with? You guys have a phone?" you begin tempesting her with questions.
"Geez will you shut up a moment?!" she said with a wicked tone, that immediately startled you, shutting your self up.
"..."
"Eugh much better, *sigh* anyway do you remember our conversation regarding your Arcana, the Trainer?"
"... Yes..." you make an effort to keep the answer short.
"Well I hope you didn't forget about the entire deal about building yourself some confidence, wisdom and sensibility."
"Sure, by the way do you have any suggesting how to do so?" you asked her.
"Huh? Aren't you a human? Shouldn't you know the places where these virtues, are enchanted?" asked the assistant with an annoyed voice.
"Well..." you tried to think about a come back but the situation was so surreal that you didn't know what to say.
"You are surely lost case huh?" she insulted you.
"I'm- im really sorry..."
"WHAT AM I EVEN APOLOGIZING FOR?" ,you internally screamed.
"Well you can for starters try to build confidence in a gym, the place people go to train."
"Oh she meant those kinds of places."
"Um yes sure I will check out for a local gym after school."
"Perfect, and don't forget, this together with your Confidents is another way of getting stronger," Klara continued.
"Depending too much on a Pokesoul would not be much of a wise choice you know." Kalra warned.
"Well then I shall leave you resume the course of your day, have a nice day then, bye." Klara ended the conversation with a cheerful goodbye, with a completely different tone from the one she answered the call with.
Standing the for few seconds you kept watching your screenphone.
"... What a strange woman..."
Hours Later.
Monday 13 September, Afternoon/Sunny
Corn Dog
After class you directly headed toward the Faculty Office to ask Sonia about afterschool activities.
You quickly spotted her as she was outside of the office, she appeared to not be alone thought, in front of her seemed to be an elderly lady that seemed to be holding a cane.
Upon getting closer the features of the woman became clearer, she wore glasses and a yellow dress with long sleeves.
"Ehm... Ms. Kleio..." you called out to Sonia.
"Yes!" both the women answered at the same time.
"?" the unexpected double reply managed to astonish you so much that you didn't know how to react.
"Oh it's you Victor, anything I can do for you." Sonia said once she realized who called out for her.
Waking from your state of stupor, you tried to give a coherent answer.
"Ehm- yes, yo- see I...", realizing how much you were panicking you stopped to take a deep breath and restart once again, only this time you were stopped by the elderly woman.
"Oh my, who is this young man, Sonia?" she asked.
"He is one of my students, and 'dorm-mate' hehehe" Sonia said laughing to herself.
"Dorm- what?" you think making a disappointed expression.
"So your are one of my granddaughters' students, nice to meet you, im Magnolia Kleio.", she greeted you by giving you the hand.
"N-nice to meet you too." you shake the hand of the second Ms. Kleio.
"Well it seemed that you were about to ask something to Sonia, weren't you, by any means go on," encouraged the woman.
"Sonia I will be returning to my office so if there's anything else, you know where to find me, which that said, have a nice afternoon you all." after saying so she turned around, and walked away rather slowly.
"Office? Does your grandmother work in this school too?" you asked Sonia once Ms. Magnolia was away.
"She..., Nana is actually the headmaster of this school." Sonia revealed.
"For real?!" you exclaimed surprised once again.
"Well, leaving my grandmother aside... what did you come her for 'young trainer.' "
"Trainer?" you thought perplexed.
"Anyway, I wanted to know about some possible courses that I could join.", you explained her.
"Is that so, follow me in the office then."
"Sure"
You followed Sonia inside the office.
Once inside you sat to a nearby by chair while Sonia was listing your afterschool activity that you could have done, she mentioned activities such as: Soccer, Basket, Tennis and others that you didn't really kinda find interesting.
Through all that you had just one question in your mind,
"Is that really gonna help me build confidence?" all the while Sonia continued.
"Aaaaand the last is Aikido." Sonia concluded the list.
"Aikido? Isn't that the hoennian martial art?"
"Your heard about it too? Last year this school has started a friendly cultural relationship with the Old Red Sandstone High School of Rustoboro City in the Hoeen region,"
"And as a sign of respect toward each other each of the schools decided to add in his school programs a cultural activity of the other one region, and our school ended up choosing Aikido."
"Plus the Old Red Sandstone High is property of the Devon Spa, so this twining was a way for the the Devon and the Macro Cosmos to in a way cooperate socially and economically for the commonwealth of both regions."
Not really paying attention to what Sonia was chatting about, you asked the young lady about the Aikido club
"... in which building should I go to apply for the club?"
"You what to apply for this club?" Sonia asked you,
"Yes."
"With this, i should definitely be able to build some confidence, right?", you thought.
An half hour later,
After leaving the faculty office you head straight toward the designed building.
The building was supposed to be in the eastern yard of the school, in a complex with rooms that belong to other after school activities.
There number of the class was 187, so bearíng that in mind you found it pretty quickly.
As you were about to enter the room you heard a familiar voice calling you.
"Hey, Victor!" you turned around to discover that Hop and Gloria were all coming toward you, it seemed that there were together with somebody, somebody you didn't recognized.
It was a girl, she had a funny and messy hairstyle, her black hair were tied with red ribbons, and beneath the school jacket she wored a black and pink mini dress (they were also allowed by the school dress rules.) she also had black boots with spike on them, a black choker from with hanged a silverly symbol.
But her most alluring characterization was her acquamarine eye.
"Those eyes... have i already meet this girl?" you asked youself,
"No i don't recall meeting someone like her before, but then..."
"What are you doing here?" asked Hop out of curiosity as they finally reached you, interupting you thought.
"Are you perphaps planning on taking Aikido classes too?" asked Gloria.
"Ehm, yes i-i just came here after i talked with Sonia about it." you explained to your friends, while looking at the girl near them, Gloria noticiong you stare she quickly introduced the girl to you.
"Right, we were on our way coming here we meet her, apparently she was searching for the same place has me and Hop, and this is why we had her joining us," Gloria explained, while the pale girl intervened with just a softly spoken yes.
"Right, we didn't present ourself and we dont know your name either," Gloria realized.
"Well starting from us then," Gloria tooked the initiative.
"Im Gloria Tyr nice to meet you, he his Hop and the guy we called right now is Victor."
"Nice to meet you." you and Hop said simultaeously.
"Im Marnie, nice to meet you too, thanks for your help." the girl said with her soft spoke voice.
"Don't worry, since we wanted to go to the same damn place it was just natural that we would have helped you." said Hop chuckling.
"..." you kept staring the girl for a few second before deciding to stop.
"I presume you guys are here for the same thing right?"
"Of course, the second i read about it on the school billboard, i contacted Gloria tell her about it." Hop admitted.
"Let's go in already."
The room's inside looked like your standart school gym, but drastically resized, the were gym mats lying all over around:
The was a man sweeping in one of the angles of the room, the man was probably in is 50's and he had grey hair and a dignified expression on him.
He was wearing what you assumed to be a red and black Aikido getup.
Finally the man notices you and stopping what he was doing to greet you,
"Good Afternoon, what can i do for you kids?" the man asked with a stentorian tone.
Astonished by the man severe expression and voice, Gloria stutters a little while talking
"Ehm H-hi, ehm ye-yeah w-we want-wanted to ask a-about the possibility to join the Aikido classes." Gloria ends with hardship.
"Uhmm I see..." the man seemed tobe analysing you and your friends.
"Im Kabu Izanagi, master of this dojo, nice to have you here."
"Dojo? This room?" you thought looking around perplexed.
He greeted you by bowing down and the four of you bow as well.
"Well let's begin by showing you around the 'dojo' shall we"
"Did he just called it once again 'dojo'?" you thought again.

Upon learning the terrible news, Cinderace embarks on a journey with his human friends to the capital of the kingdom, Motostoke.
After a long and exhausting journey, the group of friends arrives in the capital and meets the king.
At first the king refused the group's pleas, but Cinderace was able to change the monarch's mind after showing him the pêl-droed, and persuading him to challenge the enemy king to a match of this game rather than go to war.
The enemy king was also curious and decided to participate, as long as Cinderace taught also his soldiers how to play.
On the day of the match, the kingdom team was made up of Cinderace group minus Cinderace, while that of the enemy kingdom was made up of the strongest soldiers of the rival kingdom.

During the course of the game, the rivalry experienced by both sides was gradually breaking down and the supporters of both kingdoms joined together to cheer for the good game.
The game ended with the victory of the home team, the Cinderace group that outed their strong adversaries thanks to their technics alone, but this did not spoil the newborn friendship between the citizens of both kingdoms, the two monarchs happy with how things turned out, decide to not go to war and instead start to organize tournaments and matches of pêl-droed instead.
