Author's Note: Oh yeah, Lenalee is in this story. So, I decided to focus on her this week. This actually turned out better than I thought. She is going to find out what happened to her brother soon. I wonder what happened to Komui and how she's going to take it. There's only going to be two more weeks until this season is over. I have an idea of what I am doing for the finale but I haven't figured out what I am doing the week before. I will figure it out. For now, enjoy this week's key.

Key Twenty-Three: Calls:

Things came unraveled with a phone call. Lenalee was woken up in the middle of the night by a call.

"Hello?" she asked. At first, there was nothing on the other line. But that didn't stop Lenalee from picking up faint whispers.

"Hello?" she asked again. The call only lasted for twenty seconds before it disconnected. The angel of death looked at her phone. What was that? She couldn't explain but Lenalee had a sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach. When was the last time she talked to her brother?

The secret was getting harder to keep. Lenalee was starting to ask questions. Linda and Max tried to figure out what to do.

"We have to tell her the truth," Max whispered. "She probably has a clue about her brother." Her twin shook her head.

"We can't!" she said.

"But she is going to find out!"

"I know."

Max puffed up her cheeks. "Then what the hell should we do?" Her sister shrugged.

"How should I know?" Linda noticed her sister was about ready to kill her. She put up her hand.

"Look, I'm trying here," she said. "We don't even know what happened to Komui. No one does."

"So?" Max asked. "What should we do?" Linda put up her hand.

"I don't know. I am working on that," she said. "For now, we have to keep quiet." Max opened her mouth but her sister cut her off.

"No," the twin said. "Listen!" Her sister frowned as she closed her mouth. Linda took a breath.

"We will break the news to her when the time is right," she said. "We can't break it to that girl right now. That would devastate her."

"I know, but…" Max said.

"But nothing!" her sister said. "That girl is already worried about Allen. She was just getting better. Do you really want to make things worse?" Her twin frowned. Max hated when her sister was right. She clicked her tongue.

"Fine," she grumbled. Linda took her by the hands.

"We will tell her the truth," she said. Max just wrinkled her nose as she frowned. This still didn't sound like a good idea.

Lenalee got another phone call that next night. She had just started to fall asleep when her phone rang in the room.

"Hello?" she asked. There came the low whispering again. The angel sat up in bed.

"Hello? Hello?" she asked. The whispering grew faster before the line went silent. Lenalee looked at her phone. What was going on? Who was trying to call her? That same sinking feeling in her stomach returned. She had to try and do something.

The next morning, Lenalee made it down to the tech lab. She knocked on the door. A camera zoomed down on her. The angel of death looked up at the sound.

"Oh hi, Ms. Lee," a voice said over the speaker.

"Hello, Will," she said. "I need some help with my phone."

"What seems to be the problem?" Will asked. Lenalee shifted in place.

"I keep getting weird calls in the middle of the night," she said. "I don't know what is going on."

"Come right on in," Will said. The door slid open. Lenalee walked right inside.

There were so many wires on the walls. So many monitors were turned on. The cold didn't faze the angel of death. Beeping sounds faded in the background. Lenalee looked around.

"I'm here," she said.

"Take your boots off," Will said over the speaker. Lenalee slid off her boots. He just had to keep his workshop that clean.

"Give me a minute," Will said. Lenalee slid on the slippers in the cubby hole and waited. She looked up when she heard the door open. A skinny man in a white coat walked down the metal stairs. He straightened his glasses.

"Ms. Lenalee," Will said. "What can I help you with?"

"It's my phone," she said. "I keep hearing weird whispering in the middle of the night."

"How weird are we talking?" he asked.

"More like I can barely understand what they are saying," Lenalee said. "The calls last for twenty seconds before the call ends."

"And you're sure it's not the caller themselves?" Will asked.

"I'm not sure," the angel of death said.

"Okay, I'll take a look at it," the other angel said.

"Thank you," Lenalee said. She bowed her head.

That afternoon, Lenalee got another phone call. This time, she was at her desk.

"Hello?" the angel of death asked. More whispering came through the receiver. Only this time, there was something different. Lenalee tried to listen in closely.

"What did you say?" she asked.

"Help… Help… Help…"

"Hello? Hello?" Lenalee asked. She looked around for someone else to help her. There weren't many people in the office at the time. The voice still kept talking on the phone.

"What?" Lenalee asked.

"Help… Help… me." Then the call got disconnected. The angel of death stared at the receiver in her hand. What was that? If she had known better, Lenalee would say that was Komui trying to reach out to her.

The angel of death turned her head when she heard footsteps walking into the room. Linda and Max stood in the doorway.

"Linda, Max," Lenalee said. There was a long, tense pause hanging in the air. Linda stepped forward.

"Dear, we need to talk," she said.
