Chapter Seven
"A love lost on wings eternal"
"If you have any sense of what is best for you at this point I would strongly advise you to step away from the headmaster's daughter. This instant, Kiryu!"
Kaname growled possessively as he stalked into the bedroom. He was at the bed in a flash as he gently pried the unconscious Yuuki from his rival's arms and took a good 10 steps back. His anger was flaring terribly, the ground was shaking steadily, the window glass trembled increasingly under the pressure of the king. He didn't trust himself not to really kill the boy in the heat of the moment. It was not often his emotions betrayed him, but anything is fair game with the king. As much as Zero wanted to put up a fight, he bit his tongue. Zero watched him cautiously from his spot on the bed. What they just did was wrong. What he had initiated was manipulative and entirely selfish. And it didn't help that they were caught red handed.
The beast in him screamed to rip the young boy apart. It was one thing to hear of their sinful acts, but it was entirely different to witness it.
"Ichijo, please assist Headmaster Kaien back to his suite." He ordered calmly as he held Yuuki gracefully in his arms. The beautiful blonde-haired vampire silently emerged into the room from the darkest shadows of the hallway behind them and took the eccentric man away.
As Kaname turned to leave Zero's room he darkly issued one more order.
"Sieren, detain that filth," He spat as he calmly walked away, not even bothering to acknowledge Zero's shock or his anger.
As Sieren effortlessly tackled the lesser vampire to the ground, Zero yelled out from below her,
"Where the fuck are you taking her? Who the fuck do you think you are?"
But his questions were left unanswered as he helplessly watched Yuuki being taken away. In his struggle to get out from under the woman's tight grip he kicked his night stand and watched in horror as Yuuki's beautiful tiara fell and shattered on the tiled floor. The iridescent gems flew off their pristine gold bang and burst into a million tiny pieces. His heart clenched at its significance as he gaped at it's sickening irony. The jewels of her tiara shattered before his eyes just as effortlessly as his dreams of being with her.
Surely it would be absurd to believe that the princess could really love the frog.
Two Moon Days Later
Zero felt jaded when he finally regained his senses. He couldn't remember exactly when he passed out but he suspected that the woman had drugged him.
"Where am I?" He slurred to whoever's presence he sensed was watching him in the room.
"We are in the Moon Dorm" A deep male voice remarked back, hesitantly.
Zero couldn't quite place the man's voice, but he knew he was not deceiving him by the unnerving glow of the figure's glistening red eyes.
"Why am I tied up?"
"Simply put Kiryu, you seem to have a hard time keeping your hands to yourself" Kaname interrupted as he opened a random door, flooding the room with blinding light before the closed door swallowed it all back up again. The uncomfortable sting behind his eyes was instantly replaced by the uncomfortable grip of Kaname's slender fingers around his throat.
"Can't stand the thought of Yuuki choosing me over you, can you?" Zero spat through gritted teeth. His whole body was lifted in the air by Kaname's hold on his sore throat.
Kaname scoffed at his remark before he threw him back into the chair he never registered he woke up in. It took him a moment to register the startling number of glowing eyes watching the scene of his pathetic predicament.
"Where is Headmaster Kaien? Does he know what you're doing in here Kuran?" Zero spat at him as he struggled to stay upright in the chair. His body felt unnaturally heavy. He doubted that if he wasn't tied up, that he would be able to fight his oppressor. He could feel the familiar weight of the Bloody Rose in his pocket and thanked the Kamis that he'd at least done one thing right within the past twenty four hours.
"You seem to have forgotten who I am, Kiryu. I take orders from no one." He warned darkly.
Zero watched Kaname's shiny black shoes cross the room through hazed eyes, each step resonated within him like the strength of his own heart's beat.
"You are being held on trial for the adulterous actions committed to the person of the Queen."
"What in Kami's name are you blabbering about?" Zero growled as he started to find himself more and more frustrated.
"Please untie him," Kaname ordered from a seat parallel from his.
When his sight cleared, he scanned the room until his eyes landed on the man he was looking for.
"Headmaster Kaien, what is going on?" He questioned as a long-haired busty blonde untied his hands.
"I'm so sorry son, there is nothing I can do."
"UGH! Someone explain to me what's going on." Zero barked through an aggravated sign as he ran his fingers aggressively through his disheveled hair.
"You, Zero Kiryu, are being presented here in the Moon Dorm before the entirety of the Night class for your wrongdoings against former Day Class Student, Yuuki Cross. You, Zero Kiryu, have disobeyed the official orders of our great pureblood king, Kaname Kuran. You, Zero Kiryu, have been stripped of your title as Day Class Student and will now be recognized as a fully mature Night Class student. You, Zero Kiryu, must now accept and obey the official orders of your king Kaname Kuran or face punishment to the fullest extent of vampirical law."
The vampire judge shifted his attention from Zero and redirected the jury's attentions to the headmaster.
"You, Kaien Cross, Headmaster of Cross Academy, are being accused of going against protocol by your continuous allowance of a certain person's stay as a resident and student of the Day Class. It has recently been brought to light the matter of your adoptive son, Zero Kiryu's, nightly ministrations with your adoptive daughter, Yuuki Cross, and the immoral act of piecing her virgin skin with his matured fangs.
"Is it or is it not true that you are the formal guardian of Zero Kiryu?"
"Yes, Your Honor, that is true."
"Is it or is it not true that you are the formal guardian of Yuuki Cross?"
"Yes, Your Honor, that is true."
"Is it or is it not true that you have had adequate knowledge of Zero Kiryu's matured vampire status?"
With his head shamefully bowed, he remarked,
"Yes, your Honor, that is true."
"Is it or is it not true that you had prior knowledge of Zero Kiryu's nightly ministrations with the human female Day Class student, Yuuki Cross?"
"No, Your Honor, that is not true; not until I witnessed it myself, Your Honor!"
Headmaster Kaien cried, as he eyed Zero with strong feelings of disappointment and betrayal.
"It is or is it not true that any vampire and or student (who holds an active status as a Night Class student) is not permitted within the compounds of the Sun Dorm within perspective hours of the day?
"Yes, Your Honor, that is true."
"Is it or is it not true that Zero Kiryu's formal status as a Day Class student and a resident of the Sun Dorm were rendered void when he was deemed unfit to control his vampirical temptations as is written in this formal, written agreement between you and the Pureblood Kaname Kuran?"
"Yes, Your Honor, that is true" He whispered, utterly defeated, with his gaze glued to the floor.
God Dammit man! I'm beyond screwed. Not only have I gotten Yuuki and I both in trouble, but now so is the headmaster…
"Is it or is it not true that members of the Night Class are expected to prohibit from the consumption of human blood, and are to be especially weary of the residents of the Sun Dorm?"
"Yes, Your Honor, that is true."
"Is it or is it not true that you had knowledge of the esteemed title granted to Yuuki Cross upon the occurrence of her 18th birthday, as Pureblood Queen, whether or not she accepted the Pureblood King, Kaname Kuran's, hand in marriage?"
"Yes, your Honor, that is true."
"Is it or is it not true that you had knowledge of the esteemed title granted to Yuuki Cross upon her consummation with Pureblood King, Kaname Kuran, as the Heiress of the Kuran Family?
"Yes, Your Honor, that is true."
"I have no further questions. The punishment for your crimes will be left to the discretion of Kaname Kuran, as advised in this written document signed in unison by the both of you. Do you accept these conditions, Kaien Cross?
"Yes, Your Honor, I do."
"Then you are formally dismissed from this court of law to redeem your duties as the headmaster of Cross Academy.
"Please bring Yuuki Cross to the stand."
Zero watched as those same doors were opened and the whole room was once again bathed in white light. Yuuki looked stunning. She had a glow to her that he was not exactly accustomed to. She was dressing in a long red gown that shimmered in the moonlight with each passing step she took. She walked confidently to the stand, and didn't seem to have that affinity of timidness she normally possessed. It was as if she had been revived. He briefly wondered if they had simply gotten another woman mistaken for the sweet girl he knew, but rendered that thought impossible as she stole his breathe away when her warm brown eyes meet his briefly.
"Here I am, Your Honor.'"
Her voice sounded like freshly spun silk and it left tremors down his arms. He felt as if he had been touched in the most intimate of ways, as far away from him as she way.
"Yuuki…" he whispered solely to himself. His hand unconsciously reached out as if to catch her. But she was not falling and he was being dragged away from her body by the arms of a few strong vampires. He didn't realize that when his body screamed out to touch her, that he had actually put his thoughts to action.
"Get off me, you fucking bloodsuckers," He yelled as he shoved them away and sat back down.
"Zero Kiryu, if you would please refrain yourself from disruptive conduct in this court of law that would be much appreciated." The judge stated as he rolled his glowing red eyes. Is that even appropriate behavior for a judge?
"Is it or is it not true that you have reclaimed your title as the Heiress of the Kuran Family?"
"Yes, Your Honor, that is true."
"Is it or is it not true that you have now officially stripped your status as a Day Class student and are now an active Night Class student?"
"Yes, Your Honor, that is true."
"Is it or is it not true that the crimes brought before Zero Kiryu and yourself, are of the utmost and absolute truth regarding his nightly ministrations with your person?
"Yes, Your Honor, that is true."
"Is it or is it not true that Zero Kiryu was the first to claim your person with matured fangs?"
"Yes, Your Honor that is true."
"Lastly, is it or is it not true that you have formally accepted the title as Pureblood Queen to rule alongside Pureblood King, Kaname Kuran?"
She glanced behind her to eye Zero, her plump pink lip trapped beneath her impossibly white teeth, nervously, before she continued,
"Yes, Your Honor, that is true."
Zero jumped out of his seat in an uproar as he pointed accusingly at Kaname as he yelled,
"This is Bullshit! What the fuck did you do to Yuuki? I cannot believe these lies!"
"Sit down immediately, Zero—"
But before the judge finished his sentence, shots were heard as Zero shot the judge and various other vampires within his range before aiming the gun at Kaname. Kaname was immediately at Yuuki's side, but it was not he who tamed Zero's beast.
Zero could hear their screams piercing his sensitive ears and the panicked rustle of people existing the room. The last thing he saw was Yuuki's outreached hand as she used her powers to subdue him and her saddened countenance.
Every single bittersweet memory he had of her flashed before his eyes…and then suddenly he was swallowed up by darkness…
