Hey, everybody! I'm back! My family and I came home from four nights ago since I went to Orlando for over ten days! It was awesome! Now that I'm here, it is time to resume my next chapter where Marcy raise Domino II, but things didn't go so well. In the meantime, enjoy reading!
Marcy and the Frogs
Chapter 8: Domino Effect
The next day, out back behind the Plantar house. Sprig was rolling a large watermelon up to a bump in the field, while Marcy held the scythe in her hands, with Polly in her hood. They've been doing some fun activities like baseball.
"Hey, batter, batter, batter, batter!" Polly called out.
Marcy asks why the two wanted to play baseball, and why they wanted her to play it with them. Polly explains that while she was busy gardening with Hop Pop, her and Sprig were looking on her phone for things to do on it when they found a baseball game, and after playing it for a bit, they wanted to try it out for real, and they brought Marcy into it because Polly wouldn't be able to wield the scythe, much less as a bat… or pitch a ball.
"Alright." She lifted the scythe up. "But just so you know, I was always kicked out of my softball team every time my dad signed me up."
"Why?" Polly asked.
Sprig throws the watermelon, and Marcy overswings and misses, losing her grip on the scythe, causing it to barely miss Sprig and slice his hat in half and end up landing in the woods.
"Because that," she told Polly, before turning to Sprig and asking, "Wait. Sprig has hair?"
An unphased Sprig turned to the girls and asked cheerfully, "Wanna go again?"
"Yeah!" Polly cheered excitedly,
Marcy, however, sighed to herself.
"Note to self: Lock my phone behind a passcode."
Marcy, Sprig and Polly go in and find the scythe with its blade implanted into a tree, but when Marcy goes to pull it out, she heard something like a voice.
"Wait, did you hear that?" Marcy whispered.
"Hear what?" Sprig repeatedly.
"Listen."
Sprig and Polly listens carefully as Marcy does, but then she hears a meow for help.
"A cat?"
The three come across three giant wasps attacking a creature stuck in the mud. She was shocked that this poor creature was stuck in the mud while the three giant wasps were trying to attack with their sting.
"Oh, my gosh! She's in trouble! We have to save her!" Marcy cried.
"Right behind ya!" said Sprig.
Marcy handing Polly to Sprig before she pulls out four powder bags and quick toss where the wasps are until four of powders goes bang when releasing some smokescreen. As the wasps were confused, Marcy goes to save the creature by picking up from the mud.
"Don't worry, little fella. I got you." said Marcy with comfort tone.
Without a warning, one of the wasp land it stinger, but made close call when Marcy dodge.
"Whoa! That was close! Time to go!"
Marcy sped off with the creature in her arm while Sprig keeps them at bay by firing his slingshot at the wasps.
"Take that, buzz brains! Go sting someone your own size!
"Come on, Sprig! Let's go!" said Polly before she bounces off of her brother's head.
"Sprig out! Peace!" Sprig hops off as he escape from the wasps.
Having made their way back to where they found the scythe, Marcy stopped to catch her breath for a moment. She lifted the critter in her hands and assured her.
"You're safe now, little fella."
But then, only to yell in adoring awe upon getting a better look at her. Sprig and Polly arrived on the scene, having heard the yell, and immediately checked to see if she was hurt.
"What's wrong? Are you stung?" panicked Sprig.
"Are you about to die?!" Polly cried out.
He pulled the scythe out of the tree. "We'll have to amputate!"
"IT'S TOO LATE! SHE'S GONNA DIE!"
Marcy grabbed the blade, stopping Sprig from performing any amputations, and glanced over at the two.
"No, you two! This caterpillar looks exactly like Anne's cat Domino from back home." Marcy explains when focusing back on the caterpillar while she pulled her phone out to show them the picture of Anne's cat.
The siblings noticed the striking similarities between Domino in the picture and the caterpillar in Marcy's arm. As she pulled her phone to the side, the critter meowed. Polly went, "Aaaaaawww!" as her eyes went big from how cute the critter looked. Sprig, however, was anything but won over.
"Anne loves her cat more than anything in the world. She is irreplaceable. But I think I found a close second for her." The Taiwanese girl continued, then she nuzzled her lovingly as she told the two, "Let's take her home with us!"
"Agreed," replied Polly.
"No. Not agreed," argued Sprig, who looked up at his sister on top of his head. "Polly, you out of all of us should be against this. I mean, that's a wild animal, girls. I'm not sure bringing it home is a good idea."
"Pbpbpbpb!" she rebutted, "That's ridiculous. You're ridiculous. Stop being ridiculous, bro!"
"Yeah, Sprig. Besides, Domino was a stray before Anne adopted her," then she turned to the caterpillar with adoring eyes as she added, "All it takes is love, and patience, and… love. Then when we see Anne, wherever she is, she'll have a new adorably fuzzy, meowing companion to play with."
"You said love twice," Sprig told her.
"That's because it takes twice as much love as it does patience."
"Pretty sure it should be the other way around."
Before he could argue further, Marcy held the critter up to Sprig's face. She looked at the pink frog with big eyes, and they stared at each other for a brief moment. Then she licked his face.
"Sold!" Sprig was finally down for taking in the caterpillar.
"It's settled, then!" Marcy said, as Polly jumped onto her arm and climbed back into her hood.
After placing the caterpillar, the girl grabbed the scythe and used it to knight the critter.
"I hereby dub thee Domino 2!" Then she put it over her shoulder as the three headed back home. "C'mon, girl. Anne's gonna fall in love with you when she meets you."
However, they noticed that the newly christened Domino 2 wasn't following them. She just stood where Marcy had placed her down before going limp and falling onto her side.
"Uuuuuuuuhh… I think she just died," Polly commented.
"Hang on. I got an idea."
Marcy reached into her bag and pulled out a toy mouse Anne had given her in case Domino ran off and ended up in her vicinity.
"This worked on Domino 1 without fail." Then she held it out for Domino 2 to see it. As she expected, Domino 2's pupils grew and she let out a hypnotized meow as she saw the toy mouse being rattled in front of her, and she got up to try and get it.
"That's it, girl. You can do it. C'mon." Then Marcy and Polly led the way, as Domino 2 and Sprig, who was also entranced by the toy, followed close behind.
"I want it," droned a dazed Sprig. "Give it to me!"
Polly let out a chuckle from seeing her brother like that.
Once they arrive back home, Polly tells Marcy she'll handle this, as she goes inside and enters the kitchen while Hop Pop's chopping up a worm and proposes the idea of bringing in a pet.
"Hey, Hop Pop." Polly bounced up to the counter next to him.
"Yes, Polly?" Hop Pop turn his head at his granddaughter.
"I've been thinking. Doesn't this house feel empty to you?"
"Not at the moment, no. Why?"
"Wouldn't it be nice to have a sweet, fuzzy, loving critter around?"
"A PET?!" Hop Pop exclaimed.
"Great idea, Hop Pop!" Polly clapped her hands together.
"Absolutely not, Polly! Do you know how many times we got one and you and Sprig swore you were gonna take care of it? Like that one spider we had, Charlie Bigbottom. I mean, sure, you two were there for all the cuddlin' and the snugglin'. But who got stuck doin' all the work? Good ol' Hop Pop, that's who!" Hop Pop started chopping the worm into pieces furiously, slightly scaring the polliwog as he continued, "I swear to frog, whoever brings a fuzzy critter into this house will be on dung duty for a month!"
Polly left and went out the door, just as Hop Pop went into a massive rant about Charlie Bigbottom, and Marcy closed the door once Polly made it outside.
"Well, that was all I got," said Polly.
"Okay. Plan B: We're gonna have to sneak Domino 2 inside," responded the Taiwanese girl.
"Should we be concerned about this?" Sprig asked when Domino 2 is tasting him, but Marcy sees that she's playing with him.
"That is called "play biting." Isn't it cute?" Marcy cooed.
"Yeah, kinda seems like she's tasting me." Sprig felt unease.
"Trust me, Sprig. I know more about cats than any animals."
"Well, all right, if you say so."
Sprig and Polly peaked inside, and they saw Hop Pop still ranting about Charlie Bigbottom, but now he was pacing as well.
"And how many times did I tell Charlie Bigbottom not to go up the chimney?! And that little spider'd look at me with those big green eyes like he understood me. Two minutes later, where do I find him? Up the chimney!"
They opened the door, giving Marcy the all-clear to come in with Domino 2 in her arms over her shoulder. As she made her way to the basement hatch, Domino 2 sneezed, causing Marcy to gasp.
"What's that?" Hop Pop stopped ranting and turned around, looking for whatever could have made that noise. Just then, Sprig came up holding Polly in his arms.
"Uh, hey, Hop Pop. Heh. What's the worst thing Charlie Bigbottom ever did, since we're talking about Charlie Bigbottom?"
"Ha. How could I even choose?! Jumping out in front of Bessie and overturning the wagon. Getting tarantula hair everywhere." Hop Pop scoffed.
Little did he notice that Sprig and Polly had glanced over to where Marcy and Domino 2 were, behind the couch, with the girl covering the critter's mouth. He looked up at the roof as he added.
"Then there was the time he put a hole in the roof!"
"Where'd that happen again?" Behind the Plantars, Marcy snuck out from behind her spot with Domino 2 and slowly went to the hatch.
"You blind? The big hole right there!" He pointed up to said hole.
"Really? I don't see it," fibbed Polly.
Their grandpa stammered in frustration, "Right there!" while Marcy went down into the basement and let out a mischievous chuckle as she closed the hatch.
The next morning, Sprig and Polly opens the hatch to check up on Marcy and Domino 2.
"Morning, Marcy. You awake? Marcy?"
Then they see the whole room to be in complete shambles like webs all over. Sprig looked a little panicked if anything goes wrong when searching for her.
"Marcy! Marcy! Marcy? Marcy? Marcy. Marcy! Marcy!"
Then suddenly, they were shocked that Marcy to have been covered in claw marks on one side, until tiredly open her eyes at Sprig.
"Huh?"
"What happened? Are you okay?" Sprig asked when worried a bit.
"Hmm? Yeah, I'm okay. Domino 2 just had a little bit rough, first night indoors." Marcy replied before she let out a yawn.
"Eesh. Hop Pop is definitely gonna notice something."
"Don't worry. He's not gonna find out what we've been hiding. We just have to keep an eye on her while she's adjusting. Isn't that right, Domino 2?" Marcy is snuggling with Domino 2 when she meows.
As she played with the toy mouse, however, Domino 2 quickly took notice of Sprig and Polly, but her eyes went completely black, the Plantar children reflecting off of them as she started to salivate. Sprig chuckled nervously, though Polly wasn't as worried, waving to her and casually saying.
"Hi there."
Without warning, Domino 2 fired a web at the two, pinning them to the floor as they struggled to break free from the web with muffled screams.
"That's just how she says 'I love you'," Marcy told them before giving her intended gift to Anne a kiss.
Later on, Marcy has already setup a cat playground for Domino 2, made out of wood. Once she's done hammering the name on the playground, Domino 2 got out from the playground and crawl upstairs when Marcy took noticed and then shocked with a yelp.
During lunchtime, Hop Pop is making his own sandwich with a little grubs on it, but he wasn't paying attention when Domino 2 just took a bite out from a plate.
"Hmm. Oh, forgot the mustard."
While Hop Pop went to pick up the mustard, Sprig noticed and looked shocked that Domino 2 is eating Hop Pop's lunch and quickly snatch her out of the way and jumps onto the plate until Hop Pop turns around and looked startled that Sprig was on the table while he squirt the mustard out.
Marcy came back downstairs to see Domino 2 on her bed much to her relieved, but looked surprised that there's a dead bug on her bed, then looked at Domino 2 that's been meowing at her, and then she cooing that she thinks Domino 2 is eating bug.
Meanwhile in the living room, Polly is reading a book while sitting on the couch. But she didn't took noticed when Domino 2 crawls up in the ceiling, then use her web to slide down just attempt to bite on the pollywog, but Domino 2 was pulled up quickly by Sprig before Polly perks up and looks up the ceiling. She just shrugged and resume reading.
Marcy went to check on the caterpillar, but looked very surprise that Domino 2 has gathered some bugs on her bed before she lets out a meow. This made Marcy very happy that Domino 2 is adapting her environment. She picks her up and playfully spins around as the Taiwanese girl let out her laughter.
After she's done playing, she was laying on her bed while writing down on her journal until Domino 2 crawls onto her chest as the cat like creature spins around and then she lays down on her. Marcy smiles and gently rubbing the cat's head. She's glad that she rescued her from those wasps and one day that she'll have a surprise when she sees Anne again.
After spending a day hiding Domino 2 from Hop Pop, both Marcy and Sprig were relaxing in the basement while the cat like creature is playing with a an insect by it's stubby little feet.
"Whew! Hope there isn't a Domino 3." Sprig commented.
Just then, when Domino 2 spit out its web to devour the insect and swallows it quickly, then she spins around like all regular cats, but then she started to spit some webs out to covered herself and took a little nap. Marcy and Sprig noticed that Domino 2 is wrapping herself, but to her it looks really cute.
"Aw, Domino 2 is taking a little nap." Marcy coos at Domino 2.
"I gotta admit, she's pretty darn cute." Sprig admits it.
"She sure is. Oh, I wish Anne could see this."
Marcy took her phone out just to take a picture of Domino 2 sleeping, but suddenly they heard stomach growling. She looked at Sprig that his stomach was growling.
"Uh oh. Looks like Domino 2 is not the only one that's purring. Come on. Let's go grab some grub." said Marcy.
"Ooh, I love grubs." Sprig sped upstairs to the kitchen.
Marcy took her last look at Domino 2 that's still sleeping on her bed. She wish she has a pet like her best friend, but ended up having her pet frog instead. At least she gets to shared with Anne's pet cat.
"Goodnight, my little munchkin." Marcy whispered with a mother tone.
She walks upstairs and close the hatch door. Unknowingly, Domino 2 begins to cover herself in a cocoon and begins to grow.
Later that evening, Marcy and Sprig are eating their own meal. They haven't eating lunch or dinner because they're trying to keep Domino 2 away from Hop Pop, and speaking of which, he entered the kitchen to see Marcy eating her sandwich while Sprig is hogging all the veggies. He looked quite surprised.
"Whoa, whoa there! Hungry much?" said Hop Pop.
Marcy and Sprig turns their head at him with their mouthful
"We've been running around all day. We're starving." said Sprig with his mouthful.
"Runnin' around"? Doin' what?
They paused as they stop chewing their food. They moved their eyes at each other as they realized that Hop Pop was started to get suspicious. Then they swallowed their food before any of them replies.
"Oh, nothing." Marcy covers up her secret.
"I mean, who can say really?" Sprig added.
Then suddenly, they heard a crash.
"What was that?" Hop Pop asked when suspicious.
"Uuuuhhhhh... there's a snake in a boot." Marcy makes an excuse.
"Don't be ridiculous. There's no way a snake could be in a boot."
He walked over to open the hatch door to check downstairs, making Marcy and Sprig nervous that if he finds out, then things could get ugly. As they followed him downstairs, but then it happened when Hop Pop yelps.
"What the?!"
The whole room was covered with more webs. They looked pretty shocked.
"Whoa! What happened here?" Sprig exclaimed.
Then Marcy started to looked worried if anything happens to Domino 2.
"Domino 2, where are you? Baby girl?"
"Wait, Baby girl? That's a pet name, for a pet! You sneak a pet in here?" Hop Pop laid his eyes on them.
"No." Sprig denies it, but Marcy nudged him that the secret is out. "Okay, we did!"
"What'd I tell you about pets?!"
"I'm sorry, Hop Pop. I had to rescue her from the wasp and it was that the caterpillar that looked just like Anne's pet from back home. I was gonna give to her if we found her-" Marcy apologize, but her words were cut off.
"Wait, did you say caterpillar?" Hop Pop asked.
"Yes?" replied Marcy.
"Does it have black fur with white spot?"
"Yes? Why?"
Then he went wide with his horrified look.
"That's a Coastal Kill-a-pillar! They're dangerous amphibivores, and they only get white spots right before they're about to-"
His words cut off when something is crawling around the ceiling. They looked panicked a bit.
"Coastal Kill-a-pillar? Wasn't the one I read from the book I burrowed?" Marcy asked, but scared a bit.
"Oh, now you mentioned it?! Did you not realize how that thing is?!" replied Hop Pop when whispered.
"I didn't know that she could involved."
When they took unnoticed, a huge figure glows out with red eyes showing its sharp teeth until it lands on foot to the ground as it startling the three of them. They quickly turned and looked shocked that she already having transformed into a deadly cat-like butterfly.
She resembles a cat-moth hybrid and increases in size, with the body and wings similar to that of a monarch butterfly and the head and legs of a white cat. Then she let out a roar at them as they screamed a bit.
"AAAAAHHHH!"
But Marcy realized that the cat like creature was Domino 2 as an adult.
"Domino 2? Is that you?" Marcy shocked.
"Shh. These monsters respond to sound. Let's back away slowly and quietly." Hop Pop whispered.
As they slowly try to sneak out, until Polly slammed the door open and shouted very loudly.
"HEY, MARCY! HOW'S DOMINO 2 DOING?!"
In response, Domino 2 let out an even louder, monstrous roar. Her smile didn't falter upon seeing what had become of the critter.
"I had to ask." And then she let out a horrified "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
"RUN KIDS!" Hop Pop shouted.
"I don't wanna die in a basement!" Sprig cried
As the Plantars ran upstairs to flee from Domino 2 flapping her wings to make a gust, but Marcy stops and turns around at her. She may sees Domino 2 as a threat, but deep down she's still thinking about Anne's pet cat and she made promised that will give it to her when she had a chance.
"Domino 2? It's me, Marcy. Do you remember that we have fun together?"
The cat like butterfly creature stop flapping her wings and purred softly at Marcy as the Taiwanese girl reach her hand to calm her down. When Marcy tried to laid her hand on Domino 2's head, but she let out a roar and then flew above Marcy to reach the first floor.
She was shocked that she wasn't attacking her, but what she did know that Domino 2 is after the Plantars, meaning that she eats frogs.
"No, wait! Come back!"
Marcy ran upstairs until she was fully shocked that Domino 2 as she begins attacking the Plantars with her back laying on the floor while the frogs are screaming for mercy.
"Get outta here!" Hop Pop yells.
"I would like to get off the ride now!" Polly shouted.
"What have I done?! How could I have not realize when I was reading about the book! I have to do something!" Marcy frantic
When Domino 2 was attempt to devour the Plantars with her spikey tongue drooling as they scream and shutting their eyes to meet their fate, but suddenly Marcy let out a huge whistle to get her attention. Domino 2 turns her head at Marcy, but with her hand that's been carrying a mouse toy with a bell jingling on the nose as the cat like creature meow softly.
"You want it, don't you? Well, come and get it!"
Marcy opens the door and ran out from the house. Domino 2 left the Plantars and crawls out through the door, then she flaps her wings to chase after Marcy with a mouse toy she's been carrying. Marcy ran as fast as she could to avoid getting herself hurt until she came to halt by the edge of the cliff. She looks down to the bottom where trees are. She was full in shocked like there's a dead end.
"Aw, phooey."
Then she heard a screech when Domino 2 lands right in front of her. Marcy turns her body at the adult cat like creature when took step closer when growling. She realized that bringing the Kill-a-pillar was a big mistake, but she did the right thing by saving her from the wasp and now she started to think that she messed up.
What would Anne say if told her about this? She has to fix this or she'll never forgive herself by putting them in danger. She let out a saddest sighed before she speaks to her kidnly.
"I know you don't recognize me anymore, but I thought I could change you. I guess I was wrong. It was my fault for not noticing how grown you have been."
Domino 2 stop growling and tilted her head at Marcy. What does she means by that? Then Marcy continues her speech.
"I wanted to surprise my best friend. I know how much she loves cats more than anything. I really wanted to show Anne how much this means to her, but now..."
Marcy paused when she looked at the mouse toy one last time when we jumped into flashback where Marcy used to play with Domino 2 as larva until we return to the future. She let out a single tears. She knew what must be done.
"It's time for you to go."
As the girl turns around, she tosses the mouse toy to the forest as Domino 2 lets out a roar, then she takes off to retrieve the toy until she caught it and flew off into the sky. Marcy was staring at Domino 2 flying away from her as the cat like creature lets out a roar from the distance. The damaged has been repaired.
"Sayonara, Domino 2."
Back at the Plantars house, Hop Pop is cleaning up the basement with Sprig and Polly since they helped Marcy sneak the cat like creature into the basement. He looks extremely crossed with the kids while sweeping the floor.
"And look who's cleaning up after the pet! Hop Pop, that's who!"
Just then, Marcy opens the door and closed the door behind her sadly. They didn't noticed that she looked sad, but they relieved that Marcy is okay.
"Marcy, you're okay!" said Sprig when relieved.
"Tell me that thing is gone!" said Polly.
"Yes, she's gone." Marcy answered quietly.
They now noticed that Marcy looked really sad.
"(sigh) I'm so sorry, you guys. I just wanted to surprise Anne when I found Domino 2, but I realized that I put you all in danger because of me. I hope you understand."
"Understand? Understand!?" Hop Pop looks upset at first when Marcy was expected to get scolded, but then he drops into emotions with tears. "I miss Charlie Big Bottom with all my heart and soul!"
He bawls his eyes out as he confessed that he do missed his pet, but then the big hole on the wall just fell.
"Uh, can we please fix the giant hole in the house?" Polly asked, wanting the house to be fixed.
"Marcy relieved that there isn't gonna be some harsh, but her apologies isn't quite enough. When Sprig escorted Hop Pop upstairs with his handkerchief, Polly took noticed that Marcy getting herself tucked in to get some sleep that she wanted to forget all of this.
Polly felt remorse that she believes that it was all her idea to keep Domino 2 as their new pet. She doesn't want Hop Pop to put a blame on Marcy because she cared about her. Then it gave her an idea before she bounced upstairs.
The next day, Marcy has already woke up and then finished up her chores to sweep off the last web out from the corner until Sprig and Polly came downstairs to check on Marcy, but he's holding something behind his back. He really wanted to make her happy like she used to be. Polly bounced towards her when she comes to apologize.
"Hey, um... how are you feel?" Polly asked softy.
Marcy hasn't replied, but sweeping the floor. This made Polly felt guilty about this. Then she spoke again.
"Marcy, I'm really sorry for putting us in danger."
"No, it was my own fault. You could've died because me. I can't go through all the pain I've been sharing with you." said Marcy with her quiet voice.
Polly could understand what it means. Both siblings knew that she did told them about her tragic story. Sprig took step closer to Marcy with his hand behind his back.
"Hey, um, made you a little something. I know how much Anne means a lot to you, but I used Domino 2's hair balls as the fur. Here ya go."
Sprig shows a handmade plushie, but an ugly stuffed animal version of Domino 2. Marcy grew soft as she picks up the stuffed animal. The way she looks at it, it kinda reminds her that she used to have Domino 2 as a larva, and then she formed her small smile. For Sprig, however must've thought that she didn't like it.
"You hate it, don't ya? It's too ugly, isn't it? You know what, give it back to me-"
"I love it!"
Welp, that's that! I've got it done just in time before I went to bed otherwise I might just paused until morning. At least I did an alternate version how Marcy and Polly attached Domino 2 as pet, but for Sprig he was uneased at first.
For a moment back in season 1, I thought that I wanted to have Domino 2 to stay as larva until when "Fight or Flight" premieres, I predict that Domino 2 has returned and now I did! What really surprise me that she has her own kitten and she recognize Anne after being freed from mind controlled. I never realized how much they like used Domino 2 as adult for her to fly with Anne riding on her and I taken all back. I really loved Domino 2, both larva and adult!
Anyway, in next week where Marcy wanted to share her games with the Plantars. Until I figured out, I'll think of which games she likes to share. Thank you for reading and I'll be seeing ya real soon! Stay tuned for the next chapter!
