Chapter one
Although she didn't know it, the sun had risen an hour or so ago, as Amy rolled over and hugged a very scratchy pillow in her stubborn refusal to get out of bed. This had become a routine over the years, but as usual, there was a reason to get up, she just had to get there. Sleep! Wait… what time is it?... Why hasn't Dad woken me up? We have to get to church! She jumped up and found herself in a very dark area. "Is it still night? I thought…" Her brain woke up, "Great… Well, I'm up now." She threw her head back onto the pillow. She stared at the ceiling for a few minutes while her eyes adjusted out of the morning fog, "Hold up… that's not my ceiling. Where am I?"
Amy noticed the curtains surrounding her bed. "Dad?" She asked hopelessly, I've been kidnapped. Why am I such a deep sleeper? "Breathe." Amy took a deep breath to control the oncoming anxiety and opened the curtain. The light shone on her face, blinding her. Once she could see again, she found herself in a… CASTLE!
"I'm in a castle! I'm a princess!" Amy jumped out of bed excitedly, forgetting all of her previous worries, "I've got to be dreaming right?" She pinched herself, "Nope."
Amy ran to the window to get a view of her surroundings. "Ok, so forest… What has a forest? Lord of the Rings. No… not there… this is not Rivendell or Mirkwood… at all." She looked at the castle walls, "Black castle… this isn't Isengard. What other castle is black?" The light bulb went on, "Oh…crap. I'm Maria! I'm going to die." She recalled her childhood imaginary world, "But I'd get to meet Neal! I wonder what he actually looks like. Wait… then I have powers! So many powers…" She calmed down enough to succumb to the confusion caused by a much younger her, "What was wrong with fourteen-year-old me?"
Amy looking down realized what she was wearing, "Great, a nightgown. This is the only time I agree with Helena on pants vs. dresses." She looked around the room, her brain working at such a high-functioning speed that it was going to go into overdrive and crash, "I need food and coff… There's no coffee! That's it! If this is 'Once upon a time' the curse better be here tomorrow. I guess I should get changed though…" Changing directions, she went to the wardrobe and opened it, "Nevermind… I could live here."
The wardrobe she was met with was filled with beautiful ballgowns and normal regular dresses, "I'm a princess!" Amy clapped, then thought aloud to herself, "I guess I should wear a normal dress. Ooh… I like this one! It looks like Belle's!" Amy started putting it on, then remembered, "Dang it. I need a corset."
Amy found a trunk at the end of her bed and opened it. She found the item she was searching for. She pulled two out. One was a full ball-gown corset and the other was just the bodice. She took the bodice corset and put it on her. "So… how do I tie you?"
Amy spun it around and after a long struggle managed to tie it from the front and then rotated it back into the correct position, "Gosh, that's tight. I understand Elizabeth Swann's reaction now. Ok, now for the dress." She put the dress on, then spun around in it, "Yay! Now for hair." She saw ribbons on her dresser and a few make-up items. She pulled her hair into a ponytail. "What did they use in their make-up supplies back then? I'll leave it and use it later, after thoroughly researching it."
Amy put on some slippers and left the room. "Time for food… and to meet Rumple. Great… wait… do I have to call him 'Papa'? That sounds so weird. Alright, food. Where is the dining hall?" Amy wandered the passages for a while with no success. "Lumiere? Cogsworth? Mrs. Potts? Does anyone know where I can eat or just find someone?" Amy asked literally no one, "Ugh!"
"You have to do something! She can not live, not on my throne!" A female voice yelled angrily. Amy had to cover her ear from the pitch. Ouch.
An annoyed but calmer voice replied, "That sounds like a 'you' problem, dearie."
"Found them," Amy said under her breath, walking in slowly.
"It was your apple that failed the first time. Surely there must be something in all your magical expertise that could help me." The evil queen paused probably to study her current nemesis, "You know of something. Don't you?"
Rumpelstiltskin smirked, enjoying the Queen's dependence on him, "If there was dearie, are you sure you could pay the price?"
"Of course, I'll pay it! Just give it to me." Regina was already losing patience with the Dark One. Amy froze somewhat away from the bookshelf and cabinet, remembering a similar scene from the show, although this wasn't that scene. This is so cool. And I'm probably going to die. How haven't they seen me yet?
"I don't have it. But there is a friend of ours who possesses this key to your revenge." Rumple answered in riddles, only irritating Regina all the more. Rumple glanced toward Anna then returned to Regina. Amy began to slowly retreat, but Regina noticed.
Suddenly, Amy couldn't breathe, and she was being choked in the air by magic. "Enough of your riddles. Tell me who or your maid dies!"
Amy wanted to and tried to scream but could not. She watched helplessly, gasping for air as she looked at the scaly man, Please… help. Please be a dream. Wake up! Wake up! Rumple… please!
"Let her go, Dearie!" Rumple threw a fireball at Regina who dodged it magically with her free hand, "Or you'll never get the revenge you seek."
"This maid too, Rumple? She seems a little young for you, but if it suits you." Regina teased, EW! Gross! I'd prefer Bae or Hook. Just no. "Now give me the name and she lives." She gave him her evil smile knowing she won.
"She's the one who gave you the sleeping curse, Dearie." He growled, "Maleficent. Now drop her or you'll have greater problems than some princess to deal with."
Regina dropped her. Amy lay on the ground gasping for air and rubbing her throat. She glared at Regina then spared a glance towards Rumple.
"Well, I'll leave you to your maid, Rumple. I have another reptile to deal with." Regina apparated.
Rumple ran to Amy and magically made a cup of water appear, "Rosette, are you okay? Why did you come in here? You heard us in the hallway."
Rosette? "Yeah, I-I'm okay. Alive." Amy accepted the water, "I-I don't kn-now. I just meant to get food. I'm sorry."
"I don't know?" Rumple's jaw set, not at all pleased with her answer. Well, I don't. I'm in shock! I had no control of my body! Maybe a little… but come on! Amy internally complained. Her apparent father continued, "I expect a better answer than that. What were you thinking?"
"I'm hungry. What do you want me to say? I was choked! Give me some grace!" Amy raised her voice as much as her near-death experience would allow. Oh wait… do I realize who I'm talking to?
"Rosette Belle!" So, I'm Belle's daughter. Good to know. Is he taller in real life? "You wouldn't be in that situation if you would listen to me and follow the rules in this house. I have been teaching you magic for a reason, use it. Do you realize she could have figured out who you are? Do you know how much danger you could be in?"
Amy raised her eyebrow at his logic, "You do realize who you are right?" Wait, I said that out loud? I have a death wish. Amy, SHUT UP!
Rumple stood up, "Yes, but I don't think you do, Dearie."
I'm doomed. Amy felt her body leave the floor. Everything before her vanished and was replaced by a cell and a wooden cell door. "That felt weird. Great, I'm in his dungeon. He could have at least left me some food." Amy said then shrugged, "It's not like I eat normally anyways."
A plate of sausage and pancakes appeared in front of her, "Ooh! Sausage! Thank you!"
Two hours later, Amy had finished eating her pancakes a while ago and the plate had disappeared. She was pacing the cell trying to work out the timeline. "Ok, so Regina is going to Maleficient's. Snow has the castle back… I'll ask Rumple about their wedding. That should give me an idea of how much time I have. What else?" Amy thought aloud to herself then sighed, "How am I supposed to do this? I wish Helena were here. She'd know what to do. Or at least a better idea than me. Or Elizabeth. Huh… Oh, it'd be great to see Helena against Rumple. I've got to get home." Amy lay on the wooden bed. You'd think there could at least be some bedding. I know I'm grounded but, come on!
Suddenly, there was bedding underneath her. "WHAT! Since when could Rumple read thoughts? Okay then… well, thanks Dad… or Papa." Amy shook her head, "Nope. Still sounds weird… this whole day is weird." At least I don't have to see Dylan. "I don't have to see Dylan! Ahhh!" Anna jumped up full of energy, "Yes! Yes! Yes! Ha! Take that! I'm free! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" She clapped, "I don't have to deal with you and your stupid hurtful comments today! Or your annoying 'Dad' stare or Cameron and Cara pestering me about you! And telling me we have to 'have a talk' like I'm a bloody child. Yay! I'm FREE! You know what, I might just take my time going back… Being Rumple's daughter can't be all that bad. Yay! I'm happy!"
Rumple appeared in front of her cell door, "Dearie, are you ready to apologize for your… why are you so happy?"
"Because I'm free! And I love you! You're amazing, you know that! You saved me! Thank you! I will never be so foolish again." Amy smiled, glowing at him.
Rumple raised an eyebrow at her completely confused, "I'll always protect you, Rosette. However, I…"
"I know." Amy cut him off, "I'm sorry, Papa. I shouldn't have been so foolish or spoken to you like that, even if I was scared, I'm sorry. Please forgive me." Amy pulled off the sad puppy eyes, which was easier than expected because Rumple looked somewhat heartbroken. Which was more emotion than the Dark One ever shows. I guess being his daughter gives me some perks. Like not getting on his bad side forever. That's a plus.
Rumple removed the cell door by magic and offered a hug. Amy played along and ran into his embrace. This will be easy. "I will always forgive you, my flower."
"I love you, Papa." Amy started to cry from all the stress of the past few hours. I miss you, Daddy.
Rumple pulled out of the hug and cupped Amy's face. This is so weird. "You remind me so much of your mother."
Amy just gave a sad smile not knowing what to say. Apparently, that was too sweet for Rumple because he immediately became serious, "Now, go. You have chores to do. And I expect to see you after lunch for your lesson." He waved her off.
"Yes, sir." Amy replied, leaving him as he transported elsewhere. Where do I need to be? And what am I doing?
