Chapter Three
Although Amy didn't know where she was going, her body clearly did. As she found herself in a closet outside the kitchen with cleaning supplies. She looked but couldn't find a list, so she just did everything. She dusted the shelves with a rag and tried to clean the windows, which turned out more smudged than when she started. She finally gave up on the windows and started on the floors. She got a basin. "Water… great. I have to use a well or river… probably a well. That will be sanitary. How did they clean floors back then?" Amy asked herself. "Specifically, what did they use for soap?"
"Okay… well first, then soap." Amy mumbled to herself, she picked up the heavy basin and walked slowly to the door, "Papa! I'm going to the well! I'll be back!" Just in case Regina decides to show up. All else fails I can summon him. "Oh!" Amy's eyes widened as she whispered to herself, "I need to find his dagger." She moved the extremely heavy door; I'm definitely going to gain some muscle here. Just to lose it when I get home. WHY?
Amy got the door wide enough to push the basin through. "There's got to be a servant's door somewhere." Like by the kitchen. Amy facepalmed. "Wow, Amy." Her heart quickened and she looked around for her new father. After a moment, she brought her breathing to normal and went outside. I'm going to get myself killed. Seriously, whoever brought me here… why couldn't you let Helena come? 'Like I could have stopped you?' Fair point. She walked into the burning sun, "Ugh, it's hot!"
The well stood on a grassy mound on the edge of the courtyard. Amy walked over to it carrying the basin. She dropped it at the foot of the well. Amy looked into the well, "Ah! No. I hate heights." She stepped away and analyzed the pulley system, then untied the rope. "Here we go…" She lowered the bucket and felt it hit the water. She lowered the bucket further and allowed it to fill. "Dang it! That's heavy." Amy felt her hands become sweaty and clutched the rope tighter. She began to pull the bucket up, "Heigh Ho! Heigh Ho! It's off to work we go." She sang the lyric forcibly, "Technically, that's the wrong song. What's the one at the well when she first meets Charming?" She asked herself, trying to remember, "Nevermind. I haven't seen that movie since I was… what eight?"
The bucket emerged from the well. "Finally!" Amy walked toward the well and the bucket began to fall. "Great." She backed up and held the rope at a higher point, "How in the world was this tied? I could call Rumple." Amy sighed, "Yes… because the great Dark One's daughter can't tie a knot." What choice do I have? This is so stupid… "Papa?" Amy winced at herself, "Really?" She deep breathed knowing what she'd have to do. "Dark One I summon thee." I'm so helpless… also I'm going to die, assuming I should already know how to do this.
Rumple magically appeared beside her, "Rosette, what are you doing out here?"
"Getting water to scrub the floors. Stupid question: Can you tie this knot for me?" Amy answered blankly. Don't kill me.
Rumple magicked the knot. Suddenly, the basin was filled with soapy water. "I thought that was tomorrow's job. Today, you were supposed to clean the library. Your favorite cleaning day."
"Oh, I must have mixed the days up." Amy fumbled, "I did the dining room today."
"And by doing so, you were late to your lesson."
Oops. Amy put her face in her hands in shame, "I'm so sorry! Honest, I lost track of time. Please, don't be mad."
"Time doesn't wait, dearie." Rumple replied going full-on riddles, "Tick… Tock… Won't stop." He giggled evilly. Remind me to tell you that after we're stuck in time for 28 years.
Amy ran carrying the basin, which she miraculously, found and entered through the servant's door. She dropped the basin on the floor. Never losing pace she skipped steps, ran down the hall, and into the library panting. She placed her hands above her head, "I'm here!" No response, "Papa, I'm here!"
"Glad you could make it." Rumple said from his seat.
"What are we learning today?"
"Protection spells."
"Like forcefields or the chalk-circle thing?" Amy asked remembering from Season Two.
"No, not blood magic. That's for another lesson. You are going to learn to stop me from doing this…" Rumple threw a fireball at her.
Amy dropped onto the floor, "Not in here! Are you insane?! This is Mom's library!" Don't touch my books.
"Then stop me, Rosette." Rumple responded and threw another fireball at her.
Amy rolled out of the way. Great… How do I do this? I mean I'm attached but not that attached. She moved to avoid another fireball.
"Stop dodging, Rosette! Shield yourself."
How? Wait… magic is run on emotion. In order to protect myself, I need fear, right? Um… Imagine what? Parker? Really, you're scared of him. Actually… it's not him specifically but… She remembered John… 'I have no romantic interest in you.' And Parker, 'Amy, we're platonic.'… 'Do you think either of us actually wanted you?' … 'I couldn't even bother to set up a date'… 'Well, I don't hate you anymore.' … 'Amy, we need to talk'… Why couldn't you just talk to me yourself! Coward!... 'You need to stop harassing, Parker'… 'Amy, I'm just trying to do what's best for Helena.'… By telling me I shouldn't talk to her!... 'Haven't you figured this out yet? I just want you under my control.' … NO! Get away from me!
"Rosette. Open your eyes." Rumple ordered.
Amy opened her eyes. Her hands were shaking in front of her but forming a small shield. She felt an energy pulse coming from her body, although weak. "I-I'm doing it." She breathed shakily.
"How does it feel?" Rumple asked.
"Terrifying." Amy answered, how does he live like this? "Can we end today?"
"Yes, Dearie. I have someone waiting for me. Tomorrow, I expect you to be on time or you'll be spending the night in the cell. Remember to finish scrubbing the dining hall." Rumple flicked his wrist and vanished.
"When will you…" Amy asked quickly, then realize she missed her opening but, continue exasperatedly, "Be back? Thanks…" She watched her hands shake and felt her breathing rate increase. "My label said to never waste a crisis and honestly I didn't want to write this." She sang, "But here I am guitar in my hand in the middle of one. I don't know if I can, still holding on, still want to run. But if you get to tell your truth then so do I. And it's cool if you want me to play the bad guy. But don't you dare act like I didn't love you! Don't go thinking I didn't hurt too! Don't you ever wonder if I'm okay after all you put me through? Half the shit you're saying's only half true. Messing with my life as a career move. I can't help but wonder why you won't make this end? But you would never dare, you would never dare to waste a crisis… Weren't the one who left in the first place? Weren't you the one who called things off? Was it an act to love me or an act to hate me?" Amy breathed deeply calming herself, she spoke, "You're in my past now. You can't hurt me here. You shouldn't have been able to hurt me there."
"Ok, one never doing magic again. Two, I'm going to do my best to make those floors shine like the top of the Chrysler building, then I'm going to find that dagger. I'm the daughter of the Dark One. Try to hurt me now." She smirked at the last remark feeling more powerful than ever.
Amy got up noticing a spark of fire coming from her hand which vanished, "I'm the torch! Haha!" She put her arms up in victory. "Yay! Now to go play Cinderella so I can be Belle later. I'll be back beautiful books with all your knowledge." Amy ran to the kitchen where she left the basin. "Oh… I should probably sweep first. Uh… broom. Wait… the mattress and food… was that Rumple or…" I need a broom. It appeared in her hand. "AH! This is awesome! Maybe?" I need Rumpelstiltskin's dagger. Nothing happened. "Dang it. Worth a shot."
Amy swept the dining hall and scrubbed the floors while singing an assortment of Disney songs. It was dusk by the time she finished. She made the cleaning supplies vanish and went to the kitchen to boil some water for tea and get some food. I need a teacup, sugar, mint, and a spoon. She thought and the items appeared in front of her. "This makes my life so much easier." The water boiled and she prepared and poured the tea. "Hot! Hot! Hot!" Amy said, s she forgot to use an oven mitt. She put it back on the hook over the dying fire. "Ow! Gosh! This hurts!" Amy waved it in the air and blew on it trying to cool the sting, "How do I heal my hand? Ice and a clean wrap, then hopefully, Rumple will be back soon, and he can use a spell on it or something."
The items appeared in front of Amy, and she tended to her wound. "Great. Ooh! We have pears! Yummy! I'll conjure you to the library once I get there!"
Amy walked to the library enjoying the architecture of the building. "This place is beautiful. Even though it is the Dark Castle. Wow…" She passed a beautiful looking mirror and admired it, "Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all… Oh, wait! Forget what I said. I was being playful…" And stupid. What was I thinking? The mirror didn't respond to the spell for which she was grateful. However, her focus soon landed on the person in the mirror or more accurately her age. "I'm… I'm a kid or more likely early teen. Is this what I looked like? Wow! Girl, you look young." Like ten…
Amy moved from the mirror and made it to the library. "I'll never get used to walking in here. I'll just move in here, thank you. Ooh! I need a quill and paper at some point." The objects appeared in front of her. Amy laughed and facepalmed, then immediately reacted when her burnt hand stung. "Ok… so, I need my teacup and pear from the kitchen. The items appeared on a table beside a loveseat.
Amy sat down. I need books on the history of the Enchanted Forest and some on Magical Items. A stack of ten volumes of history appeared in front of her along with three extremely large books on magical items. "I guess I have some reading to do." Amy took a sip of tea and began her research.
Hours later, at some ungodly hour in the morning, her eyes gave out on her and she fell asleep. Her subconscious granted her a pillow.
The next morning, she woke up and she was covered by a blanket. Rumple was sitting at his spindle spinning gold, "Good morning, Rosette. Sleep well?"
"Good morning." Amy yawned as her eyes adjusted, "Yes, I slept well." Am I in trouble? Why is he just sitting there? "Um… Is…" The words sat in her throat begging to be set free. Nope. Don't ask.
"Yes, Rosette?"
"Uh… is there a reason why you're sitting there watching me sleep?" Amy asked, sitting up. She noticed her hand was no longer bandaged and healed.
"I'm spinning my spindle, Dearie. Is there a reason why I found my daughter down here with books on magic and her hand badly burnt?"
"I was looking for healing magic. I didn't want to bother you." Please, buy that. Amy lifted her hand slightly and hesitated, "But, thank you for healing my hand, Papa."
"If you were really looking for healing magic, why were you reading 'Magical Items from the Dark Ages?'" Rumple said not looking up from his spindle.
"I got side-tracked. I was reading something on healing magic that talked about a fairy wand from the Ogre Wars and got curious." Amy immediately answered. Where did that come from?
Rumple stopped spinning, stood up, and magically placed a book open in front of her with the pages on the Dark One's dagger, "So, explain this, Dearie."
Amy's body reacted and gave him an 'Are you serious?' face, "I'm your daughter. Can you blame me if I came across it and got interested in the power that controls you, Papa? The dagger was so powerful that it drove my mother and Baelfire away. Excuse me, if, like them, I hate seeing you surrounded by darkness. I want to see you happy again. I want us to be a family again! Papa. If we can defeat this if we can find some way to get rid of this dark magic, would you do it? For me? Please, Papa!"
Rumple got up angrily having a very déjà vu moment, "No, Rosette! I never want to find you reading this again! Do you hear me?" He pulled the dagger out of his jacket and grabbed Amy by the arm. He thrust the dagger at her face, "This dagger will always be a part of me and there is nothing, you, your mother, or brother will be able to do to destroy the darkness! I lost them both because they attempted to do exactly what you are doing! I am not losing you! Do you understand me, dearie?"
"Y-yes, Papa." Amy was crying from fear. He threw her back on the loveseat and walked out slamming the door. "You really are a beast." She whispered to herself. She placed her head in her hands. Why, of all characters, did I have to be his daughter? She cried for a moment, then took a deep breath, "Well, at least I know where the dagger is. Now, how to get it. Helena… I wish you were here right now. I could use someone to talk to. I miss you." She clutched a pillow and sobbed.
Well, this Chapter is clearly Amy's. The only part I had in this was editing. Hope yall like it. Let us know what you think.
