Extra info: This story has two writers. One of us writes Helena and the other writes Amy. You will notice a difference in how Helena's and Amy's perspectives are portrayed, we wrote them like we ourselves notice/see things. Fair warning: we are insane. Enjoy!
Amy was pacing her room and had been for the last hour. Rumple had come back five days ago after being gone for two long days, and since then, she had still failed to find a way to cuff him. He was too clever for her. "What do I do, Helena?" She asked.
'How am I supposed to know?' Helena answered sitting cross-legged on the bright blue flowery bedspread that Amy had changed to feel more at home, 'It's your head, not mine.'
"Ok, well… fine. But there's got to be some way. Problem is he never sleeps, and he'd notice if I tried to drug him or potion him… I guess. Whatever. Point being." Amy went over everything aloud… again. Helena just sat on the bed fiddling with a knife. "I have to get the dagger."
'Why?' Helena asked, 'He's supposed to have the dagger.'
"But what if he tries to hurt me again? I can't think of any other way to protect myself." Amy explained to her friend. Amy felt her emotions, specifically fear, trying to take over. She hated how much control her emotions had on her. She sometimes wished she was Helena, able to control and have a handle on her emotions. But deep down she knew Helena didn't have control over her emotions, she just didn't deal with them. To Amy, that seemed worse, she had worried about her friend for that reason.
Helena raised her eyebrows at her then just nodded returning to her fidgeting. Amy sat on the bed next to her and laid back, struggling to sort through the overwhelming thoughts and emotions, "I have no idea how to do this."
'You found nothing in any of those books?' Helena asked, getting her to focus on one area.
"Nope. I can't think of any of his weaknesses either other than me, Bae, and Belle… oh and the dagger! Not helpful!" Amy flung her arms out to let out some of her pent-up emotion.
Helena raised her hands up in defense, 'Hey! Don't get mad at me, this is your problem and your father.'
"He's not my father." Amy told her instinctively, her mind transitioning to the task at hand as she turned onto her side. She pulled over her notes and looked over them again.
'Okay, he's not. But he is Rosette's.' Helena pointed out.
Amy pulled out all her notes and organized them in a way that made sense to her. Stories on her right, information on the Dark One above and caddy-cornered to the story pile, magical items in the center of the bottom row next to the story pile, information on any protagonist OUAT character on the left, and information on anything on other worlds, such as neverland, above the protagonist and magical item piles. She stared at her trapezoid of information, not knowing where to start, she scanned her research. How is any of this helpful or relevant? She sat up and placed her head in her hands, then looked up defeated, "Fine. What other weaknesses does he have? Love of power." She read over her notes on the Dark One, specifically the section that had to do with Rumple.
Helena raised her eyebrows and stopped fidgeting, 'Your solution to getting the key to his power, is offering him more?'
Amy looked up from her notes at her, "You don't think it would work?"
'I'm not saying that, but what if it backfires? And what would you offer him?' Helena asked.
"Fairy wand? My heart. I don't know!" Amy said, dramatically and clearly frustrated… again, throwing her notes back on the bed.
Helena facepalmed, 'Your heart? Really? I want out of your brain.'
"Wait… though. Does he have his heart or was it in a box somewhere at this point?" Amy asked, she switched topics once again and picked up the magical item pile.
'I think it's still in him.' Helena answered.
"Dang it. Ugh! Why is this so difficult?" Amy stood up, crumpling her notes a bit. Oh no! Crap. She smoothed out her notes, deciding to stomp her foot instead to release her frustration.
'I don't know! Why are you stomping your foot at me?!' Helena took out her phone and started messaging friends who had been blowing up her screen.
Amy got excited finding something in her notes, "Wait… better idea. What about a sleeping curse?"
Helena looked up from her phone, 'I know where your brain is going with this, and no. You are not going under the sleeping curse.'
"No, I won't, but I can pretend to." Amy responded, clapping. Happy with her seemingly brilliant idea. Yes, this will work.
'And he's going to fall for that?' Helena questioned.
"He doesn't have to fall for it for long. Just long enough to get the cuff on him." She explained, thrilled with her idea. This will work. I know it will.
'Alright, that might work.' Helena agreed then shook her head looking at Amy confused, 'How did we go from giving him power and a heart to putting you under a fake sleeping curse?' Amy rolled her eyes, laughed, and nudged her. Helena glared pointedly at Amy, 'What was that for?'
"I love you!" Amy smiled, feeling happier than she had felt in a while.
'Great. Now how are you going to do this? Spindle or apple?'
"Apple." Amy thought it through, "I think that would be slightly easier to fake."
'And where are you going to do this?'
"In the library. Where else?" Amy looked at her as if it were obvious, still over-excited.
'Great!' Helena said in her sarcastic, dead-tone voice, 'So, magic up an apple and get the dagger already.'
"Yes, Ma'am." Amy saluted before running about the room to gather her things and store them under a loose stone, "It's about time for lessons anyways." She took Pan's cuff and transported herself to the library along with an apple.
Amy quickly analyzed the best setup. Deciding that the loveseat was the best place to position the cuff, she hid the cuff in reach under the love seat. She set her plan into motion. She bit the apple and fell dramatically onto the floor letting the apple roll out of her hand. Now to stay here until he gets here.
Thankfully, it only took a few minutes and he arrived, "Rosette!" He ran to her, "You've used your last spell, Dearie." Rumple said furious.
Amy laid there for a second, confused as to who he was referring to. Then it came to her, Ha! He thinks it's Regina. Amy took grip of the hidden cuff. Rumple picked her up, pulling her hand with the cuff out from under the loveseat. She acted quickly, suddenly 'waking up' and placing it on his wrist. Get the dagger!
Rumple dropped her from the sudden loss of magic and the effect it had on his leg. Amy got up and pulled his dagger out of his coat pocket, "I got it. I can't believe that worked!"
"Rosa, please." Rumple begged, struggling to balance and attempting to kneel to beg for her mercy. He held himself up using the cushion of the loveseat, "I know I haven't been the best father, but I can change! You don't want to do this."
"Do what? And really? That again. Wow, you're pathetic." Amy mocked him then looked at him confused. He was terrified. What do you think I want to do to you? Then it came to her, "No, I'm not going to kill you and be like you. No thanks!"
Rumple stumbled to his feet, "Then why?"
"I need to protect myself from you. This is how." Amy replied, her words flowed from her easier than she thought they would in this moment, "Now, Dark One, I command you to create a forgetting potion to forget everything till the moment you were standing outside that door."
Rumple raised his cuff, "I sort of need this off first, Dearie."
"Oh, right." Amy facepalmed and took off the cuff. Rumple created the potion, clearly feeling betrayed by his daughter. Amy looked away from him so that she wouldn't cave to his pitying look. Only a few more minutes and everything will go back to normal. Just breathe. You are in control. She decided to study the view outside the library window. She enjoyed the depth of the forest and dark green coloring of the trees. The sky looked beautiful past the gloomy boundaries of the castle. It was a beautiful painting of white clouds against a light blue sky. She watched as the clouds changed its shape from what looked like a mountain range to a mitten and then into a heart as it dissipated and pulled apart.
"Finished." Rumple told her fifteen minutes later, pulling her from her fun little distraction.
Amy took a deep breath regaining her focus, "Great job, Dark One. Now, I command you to make all of this potion stuff disappear to where it came from, then go stand outside the door and take the forgetting potion."
Rumple did so and stood outside the door. Amy quickly used her magical abilities to remove the apple and she hid the dagger in between the layers of her dress. I do not want to do that again anytime soon.
Rumple re-entered, memories erased, "Good afternoon, Rosa."
"Good afternoon, Papa. What are we learning today?" Amy turned back into the hyper, energetic child she was.
Rumple gave Amy a stern look, clearly not wanting to deal with her cheery personality today. Amy looked down, suddenly intimidated by him causing her excited nature to vanquish, replaced with a quiet, submissive, and closed-off shield. "You will be learning how to cast a sleeping curse."
Amy snorted at the irony, receiving a glare from Rumple, "What's so funny, Rosette?"
"Nothing, Papa. Sorry." She mumbled, then piped up, "So, a sleeping curse?"
Rumple continued in his instruction of the lesson that day. Amy went through it as smoothly as possible with Rumple snapping at her every five minutes. Just don't do the lesson if you're this frustrated!
Finally, the lesson ended with a "Do better next time, Rosa. I don't need to waste my time." And he left.
"Love you too." Amy replied sarcastically. She breathed deeply, "Books. Take me away. Please." She made one magically appear in her hand at random, "Ooh, great… Wonderland! Good enough for me."
The sun went down, and Amy magically lit a candle. Continuing to read, 'Mad Hatter; A hat that takes a century.'
"Bucky! Also, that's not right. Someone definitely took some writing liberty." Amy commented and read. 'Queen of Hearts: Legendary Spell Book.' She facepalmed, "How did I forget about this? Wait, who has it now?"
Amy thought for a moment, unable to place the timeline of this particular item. 'I think it's with Regina.' Helena said from the loveseat.
"Ah!" Amy squeaked, freaking out and hitting her with a book, "Don't do that!"
'Then be more observant.' Helena told her.
"I'm sorry, I was too busy trying to get back home to you." Amy snapped.
'What if I was the Dark One?'
"Well, then I'd be in a cell right now or killed, based on his mood earlier." She sighed, changing the topic from the irritating one, "Why are you here?"
'To help you. Obviously. Why do you need Cora's book?' Helena snacked on Cheez-its.
"Ooh, can I have one?" Amy gave her puppy eyes. Her stomach growled anticipating the snack. Which sounded amazing, but there were no chips in this land.
'What?!' Helena exclaimed, 'No, these are mine. My precious.'
"Alright." Amy turned dejectedly at the pages in front of her, When did I last eat? She shook off the thought, deciding she would deal with it later, "I need her book because there might be a spell inside it that can get me back."
'And you're going to what? Seek into the Evil Queen's Castle. The one looking to cast a curse on the entire forest right now. That'll end well.'
"I could wait and get it after the curse breaks." Amy reasoned, setting that book open next to her and grabbing another, hoping to find something on the dark curse.
'You mean when Cora gets back?' Helena reminds her.
"Dang it! Why do you have to go and ruin it?" Amy said, closing and tossing the now useless book to the side.
'I'm sorry! I don't want Regina killing you for not thinking it through." Helena replied.
"Thanks." Amy leaned her head back on the loveseat, studying the ceiling and high bookshelves.
'You're welcome.' Helena threw a cheez-it into her mouth.
Resting her worn eyes by looking out into the distance, Amy's eyes adjusted their focus. I wonder if Rosette needs glasses? Amy felt an oncoming headache but chose to ignore it and focused on something else, This is a really pretty room. How did Rumple come up with this? I like how the ceiling spirals into a tower. That's cool!
Knowing Amy had work to do, she came out of her head where she wanted to live at the moment. "Back to scratch. You can rest later." She sat up, summoned another book, got a quill and paper, and got to work.
Sorry, y'all, I know I'm a little late on this one. Busy day. Anyway, hope you enjoyed. Leave a comment!
