Zombie Army 4: Ultimate Dead War
Chapter 3: Reporting In-Part 3 (Part three of Dead Ahead)
OST: Sniper Elite: Zombie Army Trilogy OST: Main Theme
As the sixteen zombie hunters walked through what used to be the station's plaza, they were greeted by resistance members who were guarding the hastily constructed wall and gate.
"Welcome back!" one of them spoke, "It's good to see that you're still in one piece."
"Why are we locked down?" Junko was confused as she spoke, "What's happening?"
"The brass issued an evacuation order," another resistance member spoke, "We're getting out of this dump! Go talk to Bruno, he's been waiting for all sixteen of you."
"Can you tell us where we can meet him?" Yasuhiro spoke, "All sixteen of us need to know more about what's happening right now."
"You can meet him at the former ticket booth," one of the resistance fighters spoke, "He'll tell you all about what's happening."
Taking the advice of the resistance fighter, the zombie hunters made their way inside the former station. There was another, but bigger barricade dividing the former train station's interior in half. It, like the wall surrounding the Station's plaza, had been hastily constructed out of scrap wood, sheet metal, and various pieces of building material lying around. The Barricade looked like it was built on what used to be the ticket booth for the train station, which was also armored. When the steel blinds were pulled up, Bruno was there, waiting for the squad.
"Ah!" Bruno sighed with relief, "Grazie Dio! (Thank God!) You're alive!"
"What took you all so long, eh?" he continued, "I thought that we'd had to leave without you!"
"Sorry for that, Bruno," Celeste responded with suspicion, "What's happening right now?"
"Orders came in this morning," Bruno spoke, "Milan's not safe anymore, so we're pulling out. Or we were going to until the damned radios went down! Think you sixteen can help? Go upstairs and take over for Jacques, then we'll think about getting you to your train."
"We're on it, Bruno," Leon spoke. The door next to the sixteen former soldiers opened, which led into a planning room with stairs. After climbing the stairs, they took a left, then walked onto a catwalk, took a right, then entered a bombed-out room overlooking the radio mast mounted on one of the gatehouses, which was covered from base to the top with zombies.
"Ah you, hello there." a voice spoke. The sixteen zombie hunters turned to see Jacques, the resistance fighter assigned to the radio mast. He was armed with a Gewehr 43 semi-automatic rifle and looked overworked from all the time he was checking the radio mast for zombies.
"You see the radio mast?" Jacques continued, "The damn husks are all over it, and they just won't stay still. Maybe you could clear them out, yes?"
"It seems you called the right people for the job, soldier," Mondo spoke. "Just tell us what to do, and we'll get right to it."
"Ah, merci! (Thank you!)" Jacques responded, "Whenever you're ready, just aim and squeeze, mon amis. (my friends.)"
"Hey, guys!" yelled Chihiro in response, "Y'all wanna play a game?"
"What is it, Chihiro?" Sayaka responded, "What game are we playing?"
"It's simple, everybody." Chihiro spoke, "All sixteen of us each fire a single shot at the horde. The person that gets the most kills with a single bullet wins twenty bucks."
"Okay then, Chihiro," Makoto spoke, "If we're going to play a game, we need somebody to keep score of the kills."
"I'll keep score," Yasuhiro volunteered, "and I know that if it's my turn, then I know that I have to participate. So, Chihiro, you wanna keep score when I go take my shot?"
"I'll do it," Chihiro spoke, "I used to do this when I was not on duty."
"All right," Mukuro spoke, "So, who's going first?"
"I'll go first," Celeste spoke. She took out and adjusted her rifle, then scanned the area for a target to start a chain reaction kill. She then spotted it, a zombie wandering under a suspended crate filled with artillery shells. Seizing the moment, she took a breath out, then fired her gun.
*BANG*
The bullet sailed through the night like a red-hot knife cutting through butter and hit the zombie straight in the head, killing it instantly. It then ricocheted off the steel rail car and hit another zombie in the heart, killing it instantly as well. The bullet then exited the zombie then hit another zombie close to it, killing it also instantly and ricocheting off the zombie's helmet, where it destroyed the only thing holding the explosive crate above, causing the crate's contents to fall out on a large group of zombies, killing them.
"How many kills did I get, Hagakure?!" Celeste yelled. "What's my score?"
"You got sixteen kills on that shot," Hagakure responded, "So we're setting the tone early, huh?"
"Let me go next!" Chihiro eagerly yelled. "I'm going to push the envelope even further! Watch this!"
Chihiro then took out his rifle, a modified Mosin Nagant M1891/30, and started to scan the area for his target to start a chain reaction kill. He saw it in the form of a large group of zombies wandering very close to a large pile of ammunition and high explosives stacked on a rail car. Just like Celeste, Chihiro took a breath out, then fired.
*BANG*
*KA-BOOM*
The ammunition pile exploded, killing a lot of the zombies that were surrounding it.
"You got eighteen kills on your shot, Chihiro," Hagakure yelled, "It seems that you're setting the bar high!"
"Bitch, please!" yelled Mondo angrily, "Feast your eyes on this absolute beauty of a multi-kill!"
(Fourteen gunshots later...)
The zombie hunters were having fun along with killing the hordes of the undead outside the base. In Chihiro's game, Sayaka scored seventeen kills, Junko also scored seventeen kills, Sakura scored eighteen kills, Mondo scored nineteen kills with his modified M2 Carbine, Celeste scored sixteen kills, Mukuro scored seventeen kills, Kiyotaka scored twenty kills with his modified M1 Garand rifle, Chihiro himself scored eighteen kills, Yasuhiro scored nineteen kills with his modified Lee-Enfield number four rifle, Kyoko scored nineteen kills, Leon scored eighteen kills with his M2 carbine, Aoi scored eighteen kills, Toko scored nineteen kills, Hifumi scored fifteen kills with his modified Lee-Enfield number four rifle, Byakuya scored twenty-one kills with his modified M1 Garand rifle, and Makoto won the shooting game and the twenty bucks with twenty-five.
"Well that was fun," Toko spoke, "Now, we have to deal with the zombies on the radio mast. We can't leave without a functioning radio."
"Yep," Byakuya spoke, "I agree with you, Toko. We'd had our fun, but survival is more important."
"Besides," Aoi spoke, "That radio mast ain't unjamming itself."
The sixteen zombie hunters focused their attention on the radio mast, which was still covered with zombies. As they shot the zombies off the tower, the resistance fighter who was watching marveled at their skills with a rifle.
"Tre Bien! (Very good!)" Jacques spoke, "Look out, husks! Captain headshot is here!"
As the kill squad got rid of the zombies at the base of the radio mast, Jacques could only look on in awe as the undead were dealt with quickly.
"Such marksmanship!" Jacques continued, "C'est mangnifique! (It's magnificent!)"
As they continued to mow down the zombies, Jacques kept marveling at their inhuman accuracy and the power of their guns.
"Ah, amazing!" Jacques continued to marvel, "You all have the eyes of a hawk!"
After the last zombies were shot, Jacques took the opportunity to thank the zombie hunters for doing their job, as he saw when the radio mast's status lights turned green.
"Mon amis (My friends)," Jacques spoke, "you all true heroes! Lifesavers, I thank you."
As soon as he said that, Chihiro's radio came to life.
"Testing? Testing?" Bruno's voice emanated from the radio, "Ah, thank the heavens, it works!"
"Now that's done," Bruno continued, "report to medical for a quick checkup, then we'll see about getting you all to your train, eh?"
The sixteen soldiers then made their way into the small, but stocked medical wing, where a resistance scientist was waiting for them with a pile of medkits.
"Ah," the resistance scientist spoke, "if it isn't one of the best kill squads in all of Italy! I trust that you're being careful out there, yes? Here, grab a medkit. You never know when you might need fixing up!"
"Thanks for the advice, doctor," Toko spoke, "I appreciate it."
After all sixteen of them each grabbed a medkit from the pile, they entered the door to the doctor's left, took another left down a flight of stairs, and took another left before they made it into the main base camp. When they got to the door, it opened when the gatekeeper saw that there were sixteen living humans instead of mindless zombies. The sixteen entered the door into the main camp, then it closed behind them.
And that, everybody, is a wrap for the first chapter of Dead Ahead. Now that our group of ultimate zombie hunters are in the base, it's time for them to make their way to their train.
