The song of the mellow larks could be heard traveling along the calm, cool morning breeze as the sun started to ascend into the sky. Although the sound was pleasant for most of the people of East Liverpool, it was however nerve wrecking for Prim and Alicia's dragon, Flame and Smoke. The Zippleback trudged up, their claws thumping against the ground and they had their ears covered.

They grunted as they looked down to see the birds happily chirping away, perched on the branches of a tree in front of the apartment. They soon grabbed a stone and threw it with all their might, but it barely reached down to the branch. The birds chirped with laughter at the dragons pitiful attempt and Flame and Smoke just grunted with frustration.

Flame and Smoke waved a fist in the air at the birds, growling at them angrily before storming off toward the apartment for something to eat. They tried to shake away their frustration as they felt their tummy grumble, so they started to walk. Once they approached the apartment room, they froze in their tracks as they saw the basket in front of the door. They could hear faint groaning emanating from it and cautiously took a step toward it.

As they peeked into the basket they see what was the source of the noise, they noticed a warm, wool blanket wrapped around a small object. Flame reached a paw into it to touch the blanket, but they jumped back a bit as it moved at their touch, and the dragon made a small squeak. Their brows furrowed with curiosity as they took another step toward the basket and this time they leaned their heads into it to sniff at the object.

A yawn escaped from the lips of the child, causing Smoke to twitch his nose and ears. They peered in a little more into the basket until they could see the boy's face and gasped at seeing that they spotted a human child. The dragon quietly stepped around the basked to enter the apartment, but knew that they had to wake their caretaker and let her know that there was a child outside.

Inside Prim was tending to all of Sunny's plants by giving them their morning water. "Well, I've finished the roses. Now for the daisies." said Prim.

Then she began to grow the daisies and poured the into the pot with just the right amount of water. "There are beautiful." she smiled.

Flame and Smoke slipped through the living room when they saw their caretaker watering the plants. They grunted in frustration, because she's so nice. Prim turned around with a warm smile when she spotted the dragon. "Oh, hi Flame hi Smoke!" she smiled and walked over to her dragon.

She reached a hand to pat on Smoke's head, but he avoided her hand. "Now Smoke, what is wrong?" she looked at the dragon and gasped. "Oh, you think I forgot about your breakfast, don't you?" Flame and Smoke nodded their heads and Prim giggled. "Now you should no better than that, I could never forget about my precious fire breathers!" she nuzzled her cheeks against theirs.

Suddenly they remembered the child in the basket outside and wiggled free from Prim's embrace. They began to growl frantically. "What's the matter?" she looked a bit confused at their behavior until they pointed towards the door with a claw. "Oh, is there something out there?" Flame and Smoke nodded.

Prim gazed at the door and back at Flame and Smoke. "Well you go into the kitchen to get your fish. I made your special salmon this morning, but don't get used to it, because I'll only make it once in a while." she game them a kiss between their horns they beamed and headed into the kitchen, Prim gave a small giggle as she walked toward the door and opened it. "Now I wonder was it is... Oh my!" she squeaked as she saw the basket on the floor and could see a glimpse of the boy wrapped in the blanket.

She walked closer to it and looked down to see the child's face. 'Oh, poor dear, it looks like a boy, but where did he come from?'

She bit her lower lip and looked around in search of a note or anything. 'Well there isn't a note, but who could have left such a small one here on the floor?' She reached down with a hand to gently touch at the boy and immediately pulled back when he moved a little. 'Oh my, I better get him inside.' Quietly and carefully, she grasped the handle of the basket, and picked up to carry it inside.

She walked through the living room with the dragon looking curiously while they ate. She walked to her room and placed the basket down beside the bed. She looked down at the sleeping child with a warm smile. 'I don't know who you are little one, but I promise I will take good care of you until I can find out where you came from and find a way to get you back home.' She leaned her head down to give the boy a small kiss on the forehead before turning around to walk back to the living room.

'I wonder who he is, but most importantly I wonder who would leave such a young one alone like that?'
