Zombie Army 4: Ultimate Dead War
Chapter 8: Off The Rails-Part 1 (Part eight of Dead Ahead)
OST: Zombie Army 4: Dead War OST: Il Mondo Vecchio
Kill Squad 78 stood on top of the crashed train's coal carriage, shooting zombies with modified rifles. Three bullet-activated electric traps were set up on the platform, making the whole process easier by electrocuting those caught in it during its activation. The boys now had their rifles in hand, with Makoto, Mondo, and Leon using their modified Winchester M2 Automatic Carbine Rifles, Byakuya and Taka both using modified Springfield Armory M1 Garand Semi-Automatic Rifles, Chihiro using his modified Tula Arsenal Mosin Nagant M1891/30 Bolt Action Rifle, Hifumi using a modified Auto-Ordnance Thompson Autorifle Semi-Automatic Rifle, and Yasuhiro using his modified Winchester Model 1894 Lever Action Hunting Rifle. Like what they did at the radio tower, they quickly cleared the zombies out of the platform. As they made their way into the shantytown built inside the base, they saw even more zombies eating the mutilated corpses of those cut off by the wrecked train.
"Jesus Christ," Sayaka was shocked as she exclaimed, "What unholy monsters could've done this?!"
"I don't know, Sayaka," Leon spoke with worry, "But whatever did this, it ain't human or used to be human."
As they cleared out the zombies with their secondary weapons, they saw something horrific in front of their eyes. In a corner of the now-abandoned shantytown, a resistance member was firing his rifle at an armless zombie that had its back turned against him. When it turned to face him, there were two Stielhandgranate Grenades in its mouth and attached with what looked like barbed wire. Also, there were dynamite sticks attached to its chest and legs, and upon seeing the resistance member in front of it, it uttered a loud, piercing scream and charged toward the cornered resistance member at breakneck speed with its now lit explosive payload. The resistance member tried shooting it, but it shrugged off or dodged every shot. When he realized that every shot had missed, he tried to run for it, but the zombie got too close to him and exploded, killing him instantly and causing part of the abandoned station's walls to collapse on his mauled and maimed corpse.
"Oh, shit!" Leon yelled in shock, horror, and anger, "That's a Suicider!"
"Suiciders?!" Bruno exclaimed in a shocked voice, "Oh, no!"
"Aw, crap!" Yasuhiro exclaimed as he saw that more zombies were coming toward them, "Here comes more of them!"
"Everybody!" Makoto commanded, "Aim for the Suiciders when they get in the middle of the horde! That'll help y'all save some lead for the other zombies!"
As they fired at the advancing horde, the Suiciders were closing in on them. Seeing one of the explosive undead abominations amid some zombies, Junko aimed her gun at the Suicider's chest and fired at it. The Suicider then exploded, killing a bunch of the zombies that were in the blast radius.
"Hell yeah!" Junko exclaimed in excitement as she reloaded, "Try blowing up now in front of my face, you undead asshole!"
"Good work, Junko," Byakuya spoke, "Everybody, light those Suiciders the fuck up!"
As everybody mowed down both regular zombies and explosive Suiciders, Aoi thought that this was wasting their ammo and their time. She then took a grenade from her utility belt, pulled the fuse, then threw it at the zombies in front of them, where it rolled on the station's floor for a couple of seconds before exploding, shredding the zombies in its blast radius like pulled pork, also causing the Suiciders caught in the explosion to explode, maximizing the number of zombies killed.
"Woah!" Aoi yelled in shock, "I didn't expect that many dead zombies, but eh...I'll get a flak jacket next time!"
(Yet another half an hour of shooting, spent bullet casings/shotgun shells, gallons of spilled zombie blood, lots of cursing, big explosions, and severed limbs later...)
OST: Zombie Army Trilogy OST: Capolinea Terminal
As the last of the shattered zombies were being put down by Taka, Hifumi, and Mondo, Makoto, Chihiro, Leon, and Byakuya were inspecting the mutilated and shattered bodies of the zombies that they shot and blew up. As the others tended to each other's wounds, the four former US Army Airborne members were busy talking to each other about what happened and what to do after this.
"Seeing those things again is a bad sign," Makoto spoke, "This war isn't over."
"It's a REALLY bad sign, Makoto," Byakuya corrected him, "You know that you and I both saw similar suicide grunts in Germany before this all happened. But seeing these nightmarish beasts again and even in more disturbing detail, it's like a recurring bad dream that became reality."
"Whatever's the cause of all of this," Chihiro spoke next, "we have to stop it together."
"Uh guys," Leon spoke in a worried tone, "You better take a look at their chests! There's something tattooed on there!"
When everybody looked down at the chests of one of the zombies, they were shocked at what was put on it. There was a tattooed Nazi Eagle that covered the entire chest area. But instead of a Swastika, the eagle's claws were sitting on a Pentagram.
"W-What the fuck?!" Chihiro was shocked. "What is that thing?!"
"Is that..." Makoto was bewildered, "A P-P-PENTAGRAM?!"
"What the hell type of mark is that?!" Mondo yelled in shock and anger, "Why the hell is that symbol on a zombie?!"
"That's an eagle tattoo..." Kyoko spoke weakly and in shock, "with a pentagram on it. What in the world?"
"D-Does that mean we'll get cursed by the devil himself?!" Yasuhiro shrieked in terror, "I don't want to be condemned to eternal damnation!"
"Calm down, you idiot!" Toko snapped at Yasuhiro, "It's gonna be fine!"
"Is that worrying?!" Aoi yelled in shock, "Are we supposed to do something about that?!"
"That mark..." Byakuya spoke in horror, "it can't be..."
"AAHHHHH!" Hifumi screamed in shock and terror, "IT'S THE NAZIS AGAIN!"
"N-Nazis?!" Mukuro exclaimed in shock, "How the hell is that even possible?!"
"That's impossible!" Junko roared in disbelief, "Those bastards are all supposed to be dead! Byakuya and Makoto threw their leader into what could be called hell itself!"
"What could have done this?" yelled Taka in shock and disbelief, "Why the hell are the other ones marked with the same symbol?!"
"I-I'm scared, everyone..." Sayaka whimpered, then she cried out in anguish, "Please Lord, please let this unholy nightmare end!"
Everybody was too paralyzed with fear to even scream or do anything because what they saw in front of them traumatized, shocked, and terrified them to their very core.
"Everyone! Calm down..." Sakura barked as she was the first to regain her composure, "We can't just jump to conclusions yet..."
"Sakura's right guys," Aoi spoke as she regained her composure as well, "We'll have to get to the train before we could start asking questions about what we're seeing."
"Ok then, Aoi," Makoto spoke, "Everyone, listen close. There's a safe room right next to the shantytown. We can answer some of our questions once we get inside."
The thirteen other members of the kill squad nodded their heads and made their way to the safe room, which was located in one of the waiting areas in the train station. As Makoto and Mondo opened the safe room's door, surprisingly and fortunately, there were no zombies inside. After all sixteen of them made their way inside, Taka and Byakuya closed the door.
Inside the saferoom, there was a workbench, munitions crates filled with hand grenades, a box filled with medkits, and an ammo box filled with whatever ammunition the Resistance's guns used. As the soldiers loaded their guns, Chihiro's radio started beeping.
"What is it, Bruno?" Chihiro spoke, "What is happening?"
"I just got through to HQ," Bruno responded through the radio, "Almost all fortified positions are reporting surprise attacks. This isn't an isolated incident, it's a coordinated assault."
"It's just as I thought, everybody! I knew it!" Celeste exclaimed, "The attack was intentionally sent at us!"
"W-What?!" Makoto was stumped and confused as he looked at Celeste with a confused expression, "What are you talking about?!"
"Intentional?!" Kyoko was just as puzzled as Makoto as she spoke, "What do you mean by intentional, Celeste?"
"Hm...that does make sense, Celeste," Byakuya spoke in a serious tone, "Given the circumstances of what happened."
"What do you mean, Byakuya?!" Aoi exclaimed, "What are you talking about?!"
"Are you for real, Togami?" Leon questioned, "Or are you just kidding?"
"What circumstances, dude?" Yasuhiro questioned, "What do you mean?"
"The attack, you brainless, stoned idiot." Byakuya responded, "Think for a second; why would a different type of zombie attack us in a specific place that nobody else knows of?"
"Y-You're right, master!" Toko quivered as she spoke, "It's not a coincidence at all!"
"Don't call me that again, Toko," Byakuya shot back at Toko, "After all, formalities aren't a thing in a situation like this."
"Damn, Togami," Junko spoke, "You make a good point!"
"The thing is," Mukuro chirped in, "who or what could've done this and unleashed these monsters?"
"That's up for us to find out, you two." Byakuya looked at both Junko and Mukuro, "We don't know what it even is."
"He's right, everybody!" Hifumi spoke, "We have to know what's attacking us."
"Sh-Should we head to the train?" Sayaka questioned as she shivered, "I don't like to be here in the open in a zombie-infested train station."
"Yes, let's do that." Sakura responded to her, "We might find more information on these zombies..."
As the kill squad got ready to move out of the safe room, Chihiro's radio started beeping again.
"What is it, Bruno?" Chihiro spoke, "Did you hear us talking about the zombies that attacked us?"
"Yes, I did," Bruno's voice blared through the radio, "And I don't know what's attacking you. All surviving units are being ordered to fall back and regroup. Once we're safe, then we could start asking questions."
After a short pause, Bruno then said, "Get to that train, kill squad. HQ needs you ready for action."
"On it, Bruno," Makoto spoke, "Everybody, you heard the man! Let's move out!"
Just like what they did at the main base, the entire kill squad had their secondary weapons on them and made their way to the door of the safe room, which Makoto opened. After all of them made their way out of the safe room, the door closed behind them and they were ready to fight their way out of the infested station.
And that's part one of Off The Rails complete. In the next chapter, Makoto and the gang must fight their way out of the infested station to escape. Please Favorite, Follow, and send a review for this story! I hope you guys enjoy it!
