Hi everyone! It's been a while, but I really do want to finish up this story! I know I said I would write a Paya chapter next, but as I was writing it, I wasn't really feeling inspired. So, I wrote this one instead.

This chapter takes place the next day, Link's second day at school. I know it's short, but I enjoyed writing it! Mipha's story in BOTW breaks my goshdarn heart. I love her character so much.

I hope you all enjoy this chapter! I will be back with more soon, but please leave some suggestions! Thank you! :)

Chapter Nine: Mipha

It was bright an early when I walked over to Link's house. The sun was barely there, painting the sky around it with deep oranges, reds and yellows. I smiled, feeling quite serene as the breeze fluttered the trees and birds chirped around me.

Link was already outside, and he waved to me excitedly as I approached.

"Morning, Mipha!" he called, swinging his backpack over his shoulder.

"Hey, Link," I replied. "How was your first day?"

He sighed as we started walking towards the school. "Honestly, it was pretty overwhelming. But I did meet a lot of new people!"

I smiled. "That's great! Who did you meet?"

He bit his lip as he thought about it for a few moments. I laughed internally. Link was a people person, for sure. No one could resist his charm.

"Let's see...Malon, Hilda, Shad, Saria, Mido, Medli, Ruto, Ashei, Midna, Ilia, Lana...there are probably more that I'm forgetting."

I wasn't too surprised that most of the people on the list were girls.

We were childhood friends. I'd always seen him as my little brother, since he was a grade below me. When I got an actual little brother, however, Link had grown to tower over me, and his cute, childish face had become unbelievably handsome. His arms were strong and muscular, and his eyes were soft, yet serious.

Needless to say, I didn't see him as my little brother anymore.

"Anyway, how's Sidon liking preschool?" Link asked.

"Oh, he loves it." I replied, "Although, I think he prefers his swimming lessons."

Link laughed. "Yeah, he's gonna join the Olympics or something someday."

"Yes he is! I'm going to make him the best swimmer on the team."

"Honestly, they would give him the gold medal just for that smile."

I laughed. Sidon, my baby brother, was an absolute delight and I loved him more than life itself.

Link and I talked more about life. How his family was doing, what he ate for dinner last night. All the homework he had to do. My job as a lifeguard at the pool. My stress about taking college entrance exams soon.

We'd been walking to school together for a long time. Normally, he would stop halfway to wait for the bus to his school in Ordon, but since he had transferred, he would just walk with me all the way.

I was happy that he was transferring to my school...but I knew that my feelings for him would have to be kept a secret. He would never feel the same way about someone like me. I was so shy, so quiet. He was confident and charismatic. I had always admired that about him.

As we approached the school, Link stopped. "Mipha," he said.

"Yes?"

Suddenly, he came closer and wrapped his arms around me, squeezing me tightly. My heart pounded, and I prayed he couldn't hear it.

"Thanks for helping me with everything...It's been pretty hard to transfer to a whole new school. I couldn't have done it without your help." he said.

"Oh, of course," I said.

I knew I shouldn't have been feeling this happy wrapped in his embrace. I knew I shouldn't have been wishing that he could stay with me forever, that he belonged to me. But I allowed myself to think, just for a second, that he felt the same way.

Then he let go of me and smiled, his typical dorky Link smile, and started walking again.

I watched him for a few seconds before catching up to him.

That's what friends are for...

Yes, the chapter is very short. I'm so sorry about the lack of updates. I just have writer's block a lot, so it's difficult to find inspiration a lot of the time! However, I went back and read some reviews, and realized that I really should finish what I started.

I'm thinking I will still have a Paya chapter, and possibly a Peatrice one, but honestly, it depends on what people want. Please let me know: a) should I keep adding more character chapters or b) make the next chapter the last one?

And if you do want more character chapters, please leave some suggestions on what you want to see!

Thank you all so, so much for reviewing and reading. It means a lot to me. Until next time!
