Hello friends! It's been some time, but I'm back with another chapter. I'll be honest, my writing hasn't been great lately. I think I'm losing inspiration, but I really want to finish this story! Please leave a review to give me some ideas! I'm thinking of having one last chapter before the end starring Peatrice, the girl who works at the cafeteria at lunch.

(BTW: This chapter takes place on day 2 and it's Link's last class of the day, which we didn't see during the day 1 chapters...don't ask me why...)

Enjoy!

Chapter Eight: Paya

I took a deep breath as I opened the door to my Honors Hylian classroom.

Last class of the day. Come on, Paya, you got this!

My hands shook and I started sweating as soon as I walked over to my seat at the front of the classroom, the feeling of dread slowly washing over me.

Suffice it to say, this was my least favorite class. Mr. Robbie made Hylian excessively harder than it needed to be. Granted, it was an honors class, but the other Honors Hylian teacher, Ms. Farore, was so much better! She even gave class parties every time they finished a novel!

Mr. Robbie was sort of a family friend. He worked with my great aunt, Purah, back when they were young adults, and then decided to pursue teaching later in life because of his love of Hylian literature and old texts (and torturing children). I'd known him since I was a young girl, he was basically my grandpa, and here he was, as my Honors Hylian teacher.

I sighed deeply, pulling out my books and glancing up at the clock. Ten minutes till class started.

My desk partner came in a moment later: a mean, cocky jock named Revali. He was extremely egocentric and made this class ten times worse. My only friend in the class was….well, no one. I was pretty much a loner, in class and out.

My only friend was my diary. I would write in it constantly, documenting every part of every day. My feelings, my doubts, worries—everything was written in there with delicate lettering and beautiful (if I do say so myself) titles. I was planning on becoming a writer one day, believe it or not, and I loved decorating my words.

Revali had his earbuds in, so I had a few moments of peace and quiet before he would start blabbering about something inconsequential.

I started to write the date in my diary with a golden gel pen, curling the letters ever so slightly. As I began to write about my day, I suddenly felt eyes peering over my shoulder, and my heart just about stopped.

"Whatcha writing in there, nerd?" Revali's annoying voice asked.

I slammed my diary shut and blushed wildly. "N-n-nothing!"

He rolled his eyes, clearly enjoying the power. "Probably writing about how amazing and handsome I am."

"Hardly," I muttered.

"What was that?" he asked menacingly.

I gulped, realizing that I'd probably started something I shouldn't have.

"Sorry, Revali, I was just-"

"Excuse me!" a voice called behind us. "I was told to sit here. Is that okay?"

When I turned around, I wasn't sure what to expect. What I got, however, was an absolute angel: golden locks, bright blue eyes and a face that looked like it belonged in history books, the ones that talked about a handsome hero in green that would save Hyrule during countless time periods.

I was more speechless than usual.

The beautiful boy smiled sheepishly. "I can go sit in the back if there's no room..."

"Yeah, you go do that," Revali snapped. "It's already cramped up in this classroom. We don't need another person sitting here."

I felt my face heating up with anger. How dare he be so rude to someone he'd just met?! On top of that, he was invading my privacy by trying to read my diary!

"Um!" I suddenly exclaimed. "Y-you can sit here! We have an extra seat!" I gestured to the empty chair next to me.

"Great, thanks!" the boy said, taking a seat next to me.

I felt myself blushing.

As he sat down, he offered his hand to me.

"I'm Link," he smiled, practically glowing.

"I-I-I'm Paya," I said softly, shaking his hand. It was warm and soft.

"Nice to meet you, Paya!"

He turned to his backpack and started pulling out binders and textbooks, clearly prepared for class.

For some reason, I felt myself becoming more self-conscious than normal. And something about Link was starting to feel…familiar.

"H-have we met before?"

He turned to me, tilting his head slightly. "I don't believe so…"

Panicking, I tried to hide my red face with my diary, stammering, "I-I-I'm sorry! I must be confusing you for someone else!"

That's what I get for trying to converse with someone.

Link was silent for a few moments, but then said, "Wait a second! Are you related to anyone named Impa Umbra?"

"Y-yeah! She's my grandmother."

Link's eyes brightened suddenly. "She was my babysitter! She watched me and my siblings when we were younger."

"That's where I know you from! She used to take me to her babysitting jobs sometimes!"

Link smiled. "Well then I guess it's nice to re-meet you!"

I smiled, feeling my face warm up. Could this mean…I'll finally have a friend in this class after all?

"So, how's life been for the past 10 years? We have a lot to catch up on, don't we?" he asked.

I fiddled with my pen. What had life been like for the past 10 years? It was definitely not that exciting…

"Well…Not much has changed, to be honest. I'm still boring and quiet and like to read and write," I said sheepishly.

Much to my surprise, Link patted my shoulder. "You're not boring! From what I remember, we had a lot of fun together."

"Really?"

"Yeah! You were so good at telling stories. I remember really wanting you to write a story about me. I was kind of self-centered l back then."

I laughed, a little too loudly. "Well, I do plan on becoming a writer one day, so who knows! Maybe your wish will come true."

Link stared at me, not talking, and I suddenly realized that was the first time I had ever told anyone I wanted to be a writer.

I blushed wildly, stuttering, "N-not that that's the most practical career option, but I might do it as a side project or something, I don't know!"

Link simply patted my shoulder once again. "I think that's amazing, Paya! You should become a writer. I'm sure you'd be a bestselling author. I would buy like, a hundred copies of your book, especially if it's about me!"

I stared at him in disbelief. I'd always imagined how someone would react to me telling them my dream.

A writer, huh? You sure you want to starve?

That won't get you anywhere!

That's too risky.

You don't even have any talent!

"Paya? You okay?"

I exhaled, trying to pull myself together. "Y-yes! It's just that, I've never told anyone I want to be a writer…I just wasn't sure how you would react."

"Who cares how I react! I'm just an egocentric idiot who can't even write a 1-page book review that makes coherent sense," he joked, his eyes still glowing.

"W-what? No! You're not an idiot…or egocentric…and I'm sure you could write a wonderful book review!" I mumbled.

He laughed. "Well then, I hope I can write one about your book someday."

I smiled and muttered something barely coherent in response, feeling my face heat up even more.

With that, Mr. Robbie walked in and class started. I could barely pay attention. All that was on my mind was one thing.

When I got home that afternoon, I walked straight up to my bedroom, opening up my laptop and creating a new document.

Our story begins with a boy named Link.

That's all for now! Please leave a review letting me know what you'd like to see!
