Chapter 9: Return of Thunder - Part 2
Somewhere on a remote island, water splashed against the rocky shore. Tori lifted her head up as she looked around, confused. Standing, she brushed sand off her as she walked over to Dustin.
"Oh, man!" He groaned, whipping his face. "I feel like I just go run over by a whole gate of 250s."
"Me too," She sighed, as they started walking over rock, "Whatever that means." She rubbed her head in confusion, "Hey, where's Shane?"
"Right here!" Shane called, climbing down a rocky hill in front of them.
"I hiked up a hill, to check things out." He explained. "We're on an island."
"An island?"
"Yeah." Shane confirmed. "There's no other land or people around as far as I can see."
Dustin went to check his morpher, but Shane stopped him, "Hey, hey, don't bother. I already tried."
"Last thing I remember, we were playing battling Zords with Blake and Hunter."
"Yeah, don't remind me." Shane frowned, looking at Tori.
"There's an explanation." She swore.
"I think everything's pretty clear." He argued.
"What does that mean?"
"We've known these guys for what, a month?" He demanded, "And how much of that time have they not tried to take us out?"
"You didn't see Blake the other day." Tori recalled. "Something must've happened to he and Hunter when they went onto Lothor's ship."
"When you're ready to get real," He scoffed, "come and talk to me, alright." Tori put her head down as Shane turned around. "I gotta find a way outta here."
"Hey, what about our sisters?" Dustin called, "They weren't in the fight."
Shane sighed, "Let's hope they're back at Ops with Sensei and Cam." He glared one more time at Tori and took off.
"You know, we can always trade him in for a new Ranger." Dustin said, patting her on the arm. "Maybe a green one."
"Wait a minute?" Tori called, as they rushed to catch up. "Alright, I admit this is brutal, but you have to allow for the possibility that there's some logical reason for all of this."
They all stopped as they heard a roaring noise.
"Huh?" Dustin muttered.
They all saw a black streak flash by in near a bush.
"You guys saw that, right?" Dustin asked, pointing forward.
"I did." Tori answered.
He nodded, "Good."
Another figure streaked away near the bush. Shane pointed ahead of them, "Over there!" They took off into the forest, chasing the blurs. "Hold up!" He called as he slowed to a stop, and Tori and Dustin skidded to a halt behind him. "It came this way. I saw it," he told them.
"Good eye, Shane," Blake smirked as he and Hunter suddenly appeared in front of them.
Hunter quirked a brow in challenge, "You ever wonder, if two Thunder Ninjas got into a fight with three Wind Ninjas, who would win?"
"No one." Tori shook her head, "The only way we win is to work together."
"Which I thought we were doing." Dustin added.
"Guess you were wrong." Blake smirked.
"I tell you what, we'll even give you a head start," Hunter goaded, "if you wanna run?"
Shane let out a low laugh, "Sorry, Tor, whatever's up with these guys, we're not gonna fix it by letting them stomp us."
"I have no intention of letting them stomp us." Tori assured him. "Where's your sister? She decide you're being idiots again and abandon you?"
Hunter chuckled darkly, "We're not the only ones missing a sister here, so I suggest you keep your opinions to yourself and leave her out of this."
The Wind Rangers all ripped their clothes off, revealing their Ninja uniforms, then all five Rangers started circling each other.
"We don't wanna fight you!" Dustin called, bracing himself.
Shane nodded in agreement, "But you give us no choice!"
Hunter ignored their words, and he and his brother ran at the them. They fought each other in the trees, until Shane and Hunter Ninja-streaked to the beach, and the others followed suit.
1-2-3-4-5
Both sets of Rangers stared at each other, holding their arms up to fight.
"Are we having fun yet?" Shane asked sarcastically.
"No, but there's always this." Hunter smirked.
"THUNDER STORM! RANGER FORM!"
"Power of Thunder!" The pair morphed into their Crimson and Navy suits. They both got ready to fight, holding both ends of their staffs.
"We knew that was coming." Dustin said.
"Ready?" Shane asked.
"Ready!"
"NINJA STORM! RANGER FORM!"
"Power of Earth!"
"Air!"
"Water!"
They all held both ends of their sword holders.
"Oh, it's on now." Blake smirked, as he and Hunter lowered their arms. "We're through taking it easy on you!"
"You're right, Shane. They're not gonna listen to reason." Tori realized.
"If it's them or us, I choose us." Dustin said.
"Thank you. Finally, someone's listening to me," Shane sighed as he got ready to draw his sword.
"Ninja Swords!" they shouted, bringing out their weapons, and the fighting continued. But, the Thunder Rangers easily overpowered them.
Dustin, after being grabbed by lightning shot out of Blake's antennas, was flung around in a circle and sent flying towards the rocks. However, he was quick to recover and rejoined his friends, only to be knocked to the ground with Hunter's blaster.
"You've got to stop this." Shane groaned, trying to get to his feet.
"Say goodbye, Rangers," Hunter taunted, not listening as he and Blake stood on some rocks in front of the Wind Rangers.
"All right, look, we know that you have some serious emotional issues that you're going through right now," Shane said, getting back to his feet, "You ever consider group therapy?"
"Um…" Hunter murmured, as he looked down in thought.
"This is getting old," Tori murmured as she stood next to Shane.
"Hey, I love dirt as much as the next guy," Dustin started, but Blake interrupted him.
"Too bad it doesn't show in your riding, Dustin."
Looking offended, Dustin lifted his sword, "You did not just bag on my riding!"
Both Dustin and Blake ran at each other, battling with their Sword and Staff.
"Why are we fighting them?" Hunter asked.
Blake pinned Dustin down on the ground with his Navy Antlers. "You want some more?"
"Hey, wait?" Hunter called out, "Isn't Dustin our friend?" He looked over at his brother, "Blake, stop. This is wrong!"
"What are you talking about, Hunter?" Blake asked, confused.
"Ninja Beams!"
Shane and Tori attacked Blake, sending flying into Hunter.
"Storm Striker! Fire!" they blasted Hunter and Blake, who went flying. They staggered to their feet but were taken down by the Wind Ninjas' swords.
"Oh… my head…" Blake groaned, as he tried to stand. His visor was down, and as Hunter lifted his head, they found that his was too.
"Where are we?" the Crimson Ranger wondered as the others were standing cautiously in front of them with their own lowered their visors. "Are you alright?" he asked Blake as they got to their feet.
"Yeah," Blake nodded, before they noticed their audience.
"What are you guys doing here?" Hunter frowned, completely confused.
"You guys ok?" Shane called over, and they nodded.
"What happened?" Hunter asked, looking around, "Where's Lexi?"
"What to you mean? She's not here."
"What?" The brother's traded looks, "She was with us on Lothor's ship. Where is she?"
"Well, they seem themselves," Tori smiled, "Concern for someone is good." She looked at her teammates and nodded. Shane just shrugged.
"Hey!" Choobo's voice echoed down to them, and all of them looked up at the tall cliff, where the green alien was standing looking down at them. "You down there, in the bug suits!" he shouted.
"He better not be talking to us," Hunter growled, his visor coming up to hide his face again.
"Yeah, I'm talking to you!" Choobo yelled down at them. "I worked too hard for you to mess things up now!"
No sooner had he finished speaking, did an explosion send rocks and sand flying everywhere. In the smoke, a familiar monster appeared, laughing. "Super Toxipod!"
"You can't keep a good snail down!" he declared. "Did you miss me?" he taunted.
"Watch out!" Shane yelled, before they were all knocked off their feet by Super Toxipod's blast. They hit the ground hard, and the two Thunder Rangers landed nearby.
"Didn't we already fight this guy?" Shane grumbled as he pushed himself up.
"But he smells even worse!" Tori groaned as they caught a whiff of his powerful stench.
"Everything about me is worse!" Super Toxipod declared.
"Ah, now what does he want?" Dustin whined as the monster laughed loudly.
"Want?" Super Toxipod repeated as he walked towards them. He laughed again. "I want to sink this island with you on it!" he announced. "I want to cause an atmospheric reaction that will drop the temperature to 100 degree below zero! I want payback!"
The snail hit the four Rangers with a beam, knocking them to the ground, just as Kelzaks appeared and attacked.
"How'd they get here?" Tori yelled as they threw her about.
"Maybe they got a group rate?" Dustin gulped as they were knocked about.
"Blake," Hunter pointed at the fight, "we've gotta help them."
"All over it, bro." Blake agreed, "Let's do it!"
"Not so fast!" Choobo yelled, claiming the brother's attention as he jumped down from the cliff, "Listen to me, Crimson Ranger! Your brother has betrayed you! Hear me?"
Hunter scoffed, "That's crazy!" A beam of light shot down, straight at the Thunders, "Blake, watch out!" He shouted, shoving him out of the way, taking the full hit.
"Hunter!" He went and checked on Hunter, who didn't seem to be in pain. "Are you okay, dude?"
"I don't know. I think so." Hunter checked himself over, "I feel kinda weird."
"Here's the real deal; you can't trust your brother anymore." Choobo declared, regaining their attention, "The pretty Blue Ranger's convinced him to join their side."
"What are you babbling about? I'd never betray my own brother!" Blake declared, "You're the one with the evil plan!"
"Tell him the truth! He deserves to know you betrayed him and your poor lost parents!"
Blake turned around, "Hunter, don't listen to him? It's all a bunch of lies!" he said, before turning back to Choobo, "You're trying to destroy us!"
"My own brother?" Hunter clenched his fist in anger and attacked Blake with his staff.
"Ahh!" Blake looked at his brother in shock, "What's the matter with you? Have you lost your Ninja mind?"
"You don't deserve to be called a Thunder Ranger!" Hunter declared, "You traitor!"
He raised his staff up and charged at Blake. A fight ensued with Blake constant trying to block his brother's attacks. "Don't you remember anything that's happened?"
"I remember you sold me out to those Wind Weasels!" Hunter snapped, pulling his staff back and slashing it against Blake's chest with it twice.
"Ah!"
Shane grabbed a Kelzack and pulled it into an armlock; looking over at the Thunders shock, "Whoa! Now they're fighting each other!"
"That's crazy!" Tori exclaimed, struggling with a Kelzack.
"Dude, why'd you have to be so crabby?!" Dustin groaned, who was grappling with Super Toxipod.
Super Toxipod spun around while holding Dustin, then he raised Dustin's arms up, before knocking him away.
"RAH!"
Dustin hit the ground on his back, as his friends ran towards him.
"Dustin!" Tori gasped. "You okay?"
Dustin rolled onto his chest as the other two stared at Super Toxipod.
"Yeah!" he grunted, as Shane helped him up.
Steam started to spray out of the rocks behind the Rangers, freaking them out.
"Ah!"
"Whoa!"
"What's that?" Shane questioned.
"Toxic steam." Super Toxipod smirked, "The island is sinking fast and soon, the Earth will be one giant snow cone. And you can't do a thing about it!"
The Rangers turned back to him, "Wanna bet!" Shane retorted.
"Yeah!" Dustin and Tori called in agreement..
Three Kelzaks all flipped forward, slashing at the Wind Rangers in their chests.
"AH!"
Using a Ninja trick, their suits all hit the ground without them in them, confusing the Kelzaks. One turned as Shane dived down and kicked it, knocking it down onto a rock near the steam. It looked up as the steam covered its face with green bits and turned around to Super Toxipod.
"Whoa! Toxic facial." he noted.
The Kelzack ran forward and started slashing the other Kelzacks with its weapon.
The Wind Rangers all looked shocked by the action.
"Weird." Dustin said.
"Now what?" Shane questioned.
"I get it; he's fighting because of the stream." Tori exclaimed.
Dustin shook his head, "Like I said… weird."
They looked over to see Hunter still attacking Blake.
Super Toxipod punched the Kelzack and knocked it out, just as Choobo looked down at the battle. "Hey, what's taking so long?" Choobo demanded, "Finish off those Rangers so we can take control of the planet! It'll be a cold new world!"
"Ah, yes General!" The snail yelled as he turned back to the Wind Rangers. "It's slime time!" he called, before charging. "AH!"
On the other side, Hunter was over powering Blake. The Navy Ranger hit the ground on his back and Hunter, raising his staff, prepared for a final strike. "Now you'll pay!"
"No!" Blake cried, holding his hands up in surrender.
Super Toxipod slashed the Wind Rangers across the chest with his staff, knocking them all down. They looked over in shock at what was happening with the brothers.
"Hunter, wait!" Shane called.
"STOP!" Dustin yelled.
"Don't do it!" Tori cried.
"You brought this on yourself, Blake." Hunter snarled.
"But you're not thinking straight!" Blake panicked. "You got zapped with that beam, remember?"
"More lies! Don't listen to him!" Choobo yelled at the Crimson Ranger.
"But I..." Hunter's voice trailed off.
"Hunter, look into your heart. You know the truth," Blake insisted, before a cloud of the toxic smoke blew out, straight at them. Blake rolled out of the way, but it hit Hunter full in the face, covering in slime like the Kelzack.
"What's happening to me?" he yelled, shaking his head.
"The steam got him!" Shane exclaimed, staring in shock.
"Right in the face," Tori groaned.
"It's going from bad to worse!" Dustin gulped as Hunter fell to his knees. After a moment, his yelling stopped, and he leapt up.
"This is the end Blake!" he roared as he ran at his brother.
"No!" Tori and Dustin cried as they raced to help. As Shane took on Super Toxipod, the others tackled Hunter back and forced him away from Blake.
"Don't hurt him!" Blake pleaded with them as Hunter struggled in their grip.
"We're not trying to hurt him!" Tori swore as Hunter turned around in their arms as she and Dustin tried to hold onto him.
"We're trying to hold him!" Dustin assured.
Hunter broke free from them both, then turned around and slashed at them with his staff, knocking them down. "No, stop!" Blake cried, getting up.
Blake got behind Hunter, grabbed him by the shoulders and forced him to turn around. "Come on!" Blake begged. "You're stronger than this!" Hunter broke free and attacked him with his staff again. He got up to his knees from the ground and blocked Hunter's staff with his own, locking them together. Hunter raised his staff up, slashing at Blake twice. Hunter pointed his staff forward as Blake struggled to back to his knees.
"Traitor!" Hunter growled.
"Think about everything we've been through!" Blake begged. "This isn't you!" Hunter ignored his pleas and charged at him, knocking back to the ground. Black got his staff up to block just as Hunter went to strike him again. "Hunter, please?" Blake begged. "You have to stop!"
"Get off him!" Shane tackled Hunter. He rolled along the ground as the four other Rangers stood over Blake.
"This has gone far enough! Ninja Smoke Screen!" different colored smoke puffed up around them, and they disappeared.
"What?!" Hunter gasped. "Ah! Come back, I'm not through with you!"
"Ah!" Choobo frowned.
"AH!" Super Toxipod growled. "You blew it!"
"This was not in the plan!" Choobo fumed. "AH!"

Demorphed, they helped the still morphed Navy Ranger into a cave.
"Right here, guys." Shane told them as Blake was laid down.
"Blake, wake up," Tori knelt beside Blake as they lay him down in the damp sand. "Please wake up." She tried to shake him, but navy sparks began to fly from his suit. "What's happening to him?" Tori cried as they all backed away, and Blake demorphed, lying unconscious. "Blake!" When it was safe, Tori was back down, shaking him awake. Blake's eyes flew open and he jumped, struggling as they caught him.
"You're alright," Tori nodded as he looked up at them, disorientated and confused.
1-2-3-4-5
After he had finished recovering, Blake stood on the edge of a cliff, watching the sea as he thought about everything that had happened.
"Hunter and Lexi are the only family I have," Blake admitted as he turned to face the Ninjas standing behind him. "They've always been there for me, and now they need my help. For the first time in our lives, Hunter needs me. I'm not going to let him down," Blake said, with determination. "As for Lexi, I don't know what happened to her. She was on the ship us, but we got separated. It was like waking up from a dream because we didn't even notice she wasn't with us until you brought it up. We need to find her and the others."
"Others?" Shane asked, "Are you talking about our sisters?"
"Yeah, I am. Like I said, whatever spell we were under was hardcore. It was like we had tunnel vision, and you three were our goal." He sighed, "I vaguely remember seeing Dee and Liz on a cliff during the Zord battle."
"Ah, man!" Dustin exclaimed, "We thought they went back to Ninja Ops."
Blake shrugged, "Last thing I saw before the blast that took us here, were those two talking to Lexi and another girl in a Ninja uniform."
Shane frowned, "Then, they had to have gotten caught in the blast and brought here with us." He threw up his hands, "But where are they?"
"We'll look for them together." Tori smiled, "When we find them, then we'll help Hunter.
Blake nodded, "Shane, that wasn't us back there."
"I know," Shane nodded. "I should have known." He smiled, "We're there for you. No matter what."
"Fully." Dustin agreed as he and the others nodded in agreement. Blake managed a small smile before stepping back in shock.
"What was that?"
"Huh?!" They turned to see some lights in the distance.
"You don't think that's the girls, do you?" Dustin asked, grabbing Shane by the collar.
"Let's go find out."
1-2-3-4-5
Crash landing on a deserted beach hurt. Liz sat up, grunting in pain, "Ow!"
"Tell me about it." Dee groaned from her left, "I landed on a rock."
"My head." Lexi crawled to her hands and knees, head touching the sand, "The pain."
"We've never hurt this bad on a relanding before." Kura clutch her newly sprained wrist, "What do you think happened?"
Liz reached into the side pocket of her belt and pulled a portable scanner, "According to this, we're in the middle of the ocean. There shouldn't be an island here."
"Great." Dee groaned, "How long do we have to stay stranded here before we disappear again?" She held up her left wrist and after flipping the top of a metal wrist unit, stared in shock at the readings. "Guys! We're… stabilized."
"What?!" The other three flipped open their own devices and smiled and excitement.
"So, we're cured?" Lexi asked, standing up, "No more disappearing or reappearing?"
"I guess not." Liz looked around, "Which means, we've caught up to our time. Where we're supposed to be."
"And if the initial blast that started all of this ended up bringing the others here," Dee smirked, "then we're exactly where we're supposed to be."
The girls gathered around, energized with a new purpose.
Liz nodded, "Let's go find our family."
To be continued…
