All Might, however, doesn't notice Izuku grabbing on to him, and he proceeds to leap off the ground with a staggering jump that propelled him hundreds of meters up the air.
"What the-! Hey, now! Let go! I love my fans and all, but don't you think this is a bit much?!"
Exclaimed All Might as he tries to get the young man off his leg.
"Are you kidding me?!" Replied Izuku as he struggles to hold on for dear life.
"If I let go now, I'll die! Besides! There's something I still have to ask you! And I don't know if I will ever get the chance to meet you again!"
"Okay, fine. Just hold on until we can land on a building" Relented All Might seeing as the kid did have a point. But his time is still running out, so he's gonna have to make this quick.
[meanwhile in some random alley]
The sludge villain wakes up in the bottle that All Might trapped him in.
"Where- where am I?" He asked to no one in particular.
"How did I-? "
'Oh right' He thought, as he remembers his encounter with All Might.
'Damn him! If it wasn't for that bastard I could've-!' Before he could finish mentally complaining about his situation however, he got kicked by someone so hard into the wall, that his plastic bottle of a prison actually popped open, and he was free to roam around and search for a new body once more.
"OW! that hurt! But I can't really complain now, can I? after all, that asshole that kicked me ended up freeing me from that damn bottle." Grumbled the sludge villain.
"Now where was I? Oh right! Time to get myself a new body! And I know just the guy" he says as he proceeds to look for the one who freed him.
[a few seconds later]
"Ahh, there he is!" Exclaimed the sludge villain, quietly enough so that no one could actually hear him.
As he gets closer to his blonde liberator, he notices him blow up a metal can on his hand, and with that revelation the villain simply couldn't help himself as he proceeds to sneak up behind the boy, blind sighting him, and attempting to take over his body whiles exclaiming "A young body and a good quirk! You really ARE my hero! Thanks kid! I'll make sure to put it to good use."
[somewhere on a building rooftop]
"So young man, what did you want to ask me?" Questioned All Might, trying to make the conversation as quick as possible.
Izuku getting, the cue, quickly regains his breath along with his composure and asks without hesitation and getting straight to the point, "Can I, a Quirkless person, become a hero like you?!"
The question shocked All Might, to the point where he forgot about his time limit, and he froze in the spot.
Seeing his Idol's silence as a sign to continue, Izuku proceeds to give context to his rather unusual question.
"I've always been rather gifted, where it is physically or mentally, I can do things that takes other people, even athletes, years of training and conditioning to accomplish, but despite that, people still doubt me because of my lack of a quirk." States Izuku, too caught up in the moment to notice his idol start to shrink and deflate right in front of him.
"That's why I want to become a hero. I want to save and support people in need, because no one ever came to me when I needed it, so I want to be there for others, I want to be there for their darkest hours and give them hope with a fearless smile and tell them everything's gonna be ok because 'I am here'. But most of all I want to prove them wrong, those people who doubted me, I want to show them that despite not having something that everyone else has, I can still be useful, that I can still be someone, and that I can still accomplish grate things if I work hard enough!"
"So please tell me, All Might! Can I ever hope to become a great hero, just like yo-!?"
Izuku, stopped his monologue as he processes the sight in front of him. All Might the number 1 hero and the symbol of peace, shrivelled up?!
"What the-?!"
"What happened to All Might?!
"Who are you?!"
"An impostor?!"
Asked Izuku, in a panic, trying to understand what the hell is going on.
"I am All Might" Replied the skinny man Infront of him, which put the cyan haired boy into further shock and disbelief.
"You know, how people hold their gut to look buffer in the pool? It's like that!" continued All Might.
"NO WAY!!!" screamed Izuku after his brain finally caught up.
"A fearless smile huh?" Says All Might as he tries to come up with a response to Izuku's question.
After coming up with a somewhat 'gentle' way to answer the boy's question, All Might raises his shirt, showing his scar to the young man, who, to his surprise, barely even flinches at the sight.
Given the boy's silent stare, All Might proceeds with his answer.
"Five years ago, I got into a fight with a powerful villain who left me with this" states All Might while indicating his scar. "My respiratory system was nearly destroyed, and part of my stomach got removed. I've wasted away because of the aftereffects of those surgeries. I've lost around 60% of my original power output and now I can only do hero work for around 3 hours a day."
"Five years ago? Was that the fight with toxic chainsaw?" asked Izuku.
"Nice guess, you know your stuff kid!" Replied All Might.
"But that's not it, that lowlife could never do this to me."
"It was someone else, someone much more powerful. But it was never made public."
"That is, I asked for it not to be made public. The 'Symbol of peace' that saves everyone with a smile must never be daunted by evil. THAT is the reason I smile, to stave off the overwhelming pressure and fear that I feel. After all, a pro must always be ready to risk his life in dire situations. So, to answer your question. No, I don't think someone without a quirk can become a hero"
Once again Izuku got shut down, and this time, it was by the man he looked up to the most. But he won't listen, he's already been rebuked so many times that he got used to it, so instead of bowing his head in disappointment, which he can't fully deny, he instead looked All Might in the eyes and said "Then…I'll prove you wrong too"
All Might who was taken aback by the boy's response, tries to hide it by continuing his speech and saying "If you truly desire to help people then becoming a police officer is always an option. Those villain custody officers are often mocked for having villains delivered to their doorstep by the heroes, but it's still a fine profession."
"HELL NO!" screamed Izuku, not being able to keep his composure and interrupting All Might once more.
"What the hell?! I already get mocked every day for being less than everybody else, and you want me to get into a profession that'll get me mocked even further?!"
Surprised once again by the kid who has been keeping calm the whole time despite having his dreams crushed, All Might proceeds with his speech.
"It's never bad to dream big kid, just make sure that your dreams are realistic"
All Might says while walking away to the staircase.
Whiles going down however, he notices that the bottle in which he had trapped the sludge villain from earlier is gone, and as if on cue, he hears an explosion not too far from the building he's currently in.
"Shiiiiit!" lamented All Might as he proceeds to rush down the staircase as fast as he can.
As soon as he gets out the building's front door however, a cyan streak quickly blurred past him, before immediately turning back and grabbing him.
"What the-?!" Toshinori asked as got lifted of his feet and carried like a potato sack.
"Calm down All Might" Said the cyan haired boy carrying Toshinori, "It's me the kid from earlier, I'm carrying you to the explosion's location, since I'm probably faster than your deflated form, just try to regain some strength while we get there"
Still surprised, Toshinori asked the young man "Young Midoriya, right? I saw your name on your notebook earlier."
Izuku simply nodded as a response.
"How did you get down so quickly?" asked All Might
"Rainwater pipe" replied Izuku.
"And you're helping me, why?" Asked All Might once more, this time however, unlike the other question, it was asked with a hint of suspicion towards the boy, after all he did just crush his dreams a few minutes back. So why would he be helping him?
"I told you I'd prove you wrong, so I was going towards the explosion to help in any way I can, but whiles going there, I saw you, and I thought: what better help can I bring there than the symbol of peace himself. So, I grabbed you and continued my sprint towards the site. I may hate you for crushing my dreams, but I will not allow my grudge towards you to stop me from helping others with your help" calmy replied Izuku.
'A truly heroic heart. Combined with his quick thinking of carrying me to the site to save me some strength and get me, who could provide more help than him, there sooner rather than later; and his already impressive above regular speed and strength to carry me while on a sprint, I mean we just outran a scooter for crying out loud! Maybe, just maybe, if he had-'
"we're here!" Said Izuku, unknowingly interrupting All Might's train of thoughts
He quickly drops him amongst the crowd while he proceeds to go towards the heroes, telling them to give him the rescued citizens so that they can concentrate their efforts into saving more people and reducing further collateral damage.
"Thanks kid, we'll leave the evacuation of recued people to you then" said one of the heroes, Kamui woods as he immediately went back into action and saving more people.
"We're leaving the evacuation to you and the police kid, we do need all the help we can get, but be careful not to get too close. The sludge villain has already taken someone hostage, that's why it's so difficult to capture him, since the kid he's taken has quite the powerful Quirk" said another hero, who gave Izuku another couple of people to guide out of the chaos.
"Thanks for the warning" replied Izuku.
All Might however, despite having rested for that past couple minutes, still can't use his powers and is left standing in the crowd.
"All Might! What are you doing?! They need your help!" whispered Izuku after handing the evacuated people over to the paramedics.
"Kid, I can't! I thought I'd be able to transform after the little rest you let me have, but my time limit is already up, I can't seem to transform anymore, I'm sorry!" whispered back All Might.
"So, all we can do now is watch in the side-lines?" asked Izuku.
"I'm afraid so" replied All Might.
"You see kid? This is the reality of being a pro, you can't save everyone"
Izuku wasn't listening however, as he looked in horror, finally recognising the kid that the sludge villain has supposedly taken hostage, it was his former best friend turned bully Katsuki Bakugo.
Izuku's face paled 'What the hell is he doing int there?!' he thought, panicked by the revelation.
'It's all my fault! If only I didn't grab into All Might! If only I did make him waste his time limit if only I'
Izuku's thoughts suddenly halted, as he saw his classmate look at him with what seems to be a cry for help. And with that, another memory came back to Izuku, but unlike his dreams earlier however, this memory was merely a voice, his voice 'This time I'm here, this time I can do something!'
Before he knew it, Izuku was running into the centre of the chaos, fear completely absent from his eyes, as the sludge villain tries to attack him.
"Hey Kid, what are you doing?! Get back here! Do you have a death wish?!" Screamed the pro heroes.
But Izuku didn't listen, he continues running towards the villain while dodging all of its attacks with his natural speed and agility, but despite that, Izuku knows it'll only be a matter of time until he gets hit by one of the villain's attacks.
Thinking quickly, Izuku throws his bag pack at the villain who, in response, pierced it causing all the notebooks and school utensils to come flying out, obstructing his vision and getting hit in the eye.
Taking advantage of the villain's cry of agony, its hostage, Bakugo manages to remove the sludge from his face and gives himself room to breathe. "What...what the fuck are you doing here, Deku!?" asked Bakugo after recognizing the person attempting to rescue him.
"I- I don't know either, Kacchan. My legs just started moving! Besides. You looked like you needed saving!" replied Izuku with a wide grin and a fierce look in his eyes, as he struggled to grab the slime off of his classmate.
"You again, brat! How many times are you going to ruin my day?! Stop getting in the way Goddamn it!" Yelled the villain as he tries to smack Izuku with a giant sludge hand.
"Get him out of there! He'll die for nothing!" screamed the heroes while they try to rush in and save Izuku.
All Might on the other hand was mentally cursing himself for not being able to do anything in the side-lines. 'Pathetic, pathetic! PATHETIC! I'm supposed to be the number 1 hero, Goddamn it! Come on All Might, get out there and do something!' he thought, as he slowly starts to buff up and jump in to save the boy.
Before anyone could intervene however, Izuku suddenly remembers that dream he had after getting attacked by the sludge villain earlier. 'The boy, the spiky brown-haired boy did something. I wonder, can I...do that too?' Izuku thought as he grabs Bakugo with an iron grip and unknowingly starts to mimic the movement of the boy from his dream, as if he had already performed the move hundreds of times before.
As the slime villain's hand got closer and closer, Izuku felt something, something buried deep within him, something old, something forgotten.
Instinctively, Izuku ended up abridging the technique from his dream, and he ended up performing a different technique, one more familiar to him than the one he's attempting and also, one far more powerful.
"Kick of the blue Dragon!" calmly uttered Izuku, as he released his chambered leg for a devastating kick that sent a powerful air current which blew away the sludge villain from Bakugo, along with blowing away every single piece of debris in the street, breaking all the windows of every building in the vicinity, and also leaving long grooves on the street and buildings in its path.
Everyone was shocked. One hit, one hit from a kid was all it took to beat the villain and save the hostage. Cheers could be heard from the crowd as they celebrate the heroic efforts of the young man before them.
"Did you see that?!"
"That was one powerful Quirk!"
"Did you see? It looked like a dragon!"
"That kid's gonna be one hell of a hero"
Were some of the words uttered among the crowd as they continued to celebrate the villain's defeat.
Meanwhile, Izuku, who had just defeated said villain, just stood there, shook and zoned out with an empty look in his eyes, as the heroes gathered around him to check if he or the hostage was unharmed. "Are you ok?" asked one of the heroes, but Izuku couldn't hear him. He was back, back on the dream scape, watching the brown-haired boy he saw before in his other dream, training, performing different moves as if they were dances. One after the other repeatedly as if he was preparing for something, a fight? A war? Izuku didn't know, because he couldn't hear a word and he couldn't see a thing other than the boy training in front of him.
He was in a dark place with little dots of light all around him, they looked like the stars in the night sky. 'Wait a second? Night sky? Are we…IN SPACE?!' thought Izuku as he mentally panicked before remembering that this was just another one of his dreams, although at this point it's probably more accurate to call them visions.
As he watched the boy in front of him once more, words start to come to him, and as the figure in front of him performs a move, Izuku begins to name them. 'Renewal Arang' utters Izuku as the figure performs an elbow smash on thin air that sends a shockwave strong enough for Izuku, who is standing about 10 or so meters from him to feel it. 'Renewal Axe' uttered Izuku once more as the figure Infront of him performs another technique, this time doing a front flip and bringing the heel of their kicking leg down to the ground, as a huge upward wave of air is created.
This cycle of naming and witnessing techniques continued until Izuku has memorised every move, every muscle movement and every name, ' the word Renewal seems to be repeated a lot' thought Izuku 'is that the fighting style's name?' he finished as finally the figure performed his last technique, and everything starts to fade.
[Meanwhile in the real word]
"Kid are you ok?" asked one of the heroes.
"I'm fine!" gruffly responds Bakugo as the heroes try to get him to the paramedics. But Izuku on the other hand, didn't respond.
"What the heck?! Did he?...Pass out on his feet?!" asked another one of the heroes as Izuku continues to be unresponsive.
"What the hell is this kid?" They all wondered.
"Well, whatever, let's get him to the ambulances, since we can't confirm if he had any life threatening injury whiles performing that stunt of his."
"I gotta say though, that kid has one hell of a Quirk" says Kamui woods as he looks at the outcome of Izuku's rescue attempt. "But now what? No matter how successful his recue was. That's still illegal Quirk usage" he adds, worried about the future of the kid.
"I mean, not only did he save the kid, but even before that he was already helping with the evacuation of the rescued citizens. That alone shows his heroic heart, him being willing to help in any way he can…it makes me want to let him off easy, but a broken rule is still a broken rule" says Mt. lady, entering the conversation.
"Yeah, especially since there are so many witnesses and recordings. Its gonna be impossible to let him off" adds the other heroes.
"Luckily for the boy, he didn't necessarily break any rules" comes in All Might in his deflated form.
"Excuse me sir, but that was clearly an illegal quirk usage" replies Kamui.
"Oh, but aren't there exceptions for Quirk awakening?" says All Might with a smug face.
Surprised the heroes immediately bombard the skeletal man in front of them with questions.
"What?!"
"Are you saying that that was his first time using his quirk?!"
"How do you know this? Are you the boy's father or something?"
"Sir, are you capable of proving your statement?"
Toshinori sighs, as he proceeds to respond to the heroes' questions. "I'm saying that yes, this is his first time manifesting his Quirk, I know this because the kid told me in an earlier conversation, no I'm not related to him in any way, we just happened to have a conversation while watching you heroes in action, and if you don't believe me, then can't you just check his hospital records or something?"
The heroes lay off the skinny man who then proceeds to leave after answering the heroes' question, and proceed to go to the ambulance that the kid is currently being treated in.
After asking the paramedics to check if the kid is actually Quirkless in their computer records, the heroes remained shocked. The kid, Izuku Midoriya, age 14, is actually Quirkless. The heroes are relieved, the kid's future will not be ruined with a criminal record, but some heroes got goosebumps after realising: If that's the kid's first usage of his Quirk, then what the hell kind of powerhouse will he turn into when he grows up?
Izuku wakes up to the faces of the heroes he met earlier, some had their mouth agape, while some looked relieved.
"What happened?" Izuku asks as he slowly gets up from the ambulance bed.
"You don't remember? You beat that sludge villain and awakened your Quirk kid." States on of the heroes in front of him, one he recognises to be death arms.
"Oh…" Izuku said, still half asleep. As he fully becomes aware once more however, he immediately asks the heroes "Where is Kacchan?! Is he alright?!"
The heroes all look at him in confusion. "Kacchan?"
"That kid that was held hostage" adds Izuku.
"Oh, that kid. He was all right, he Immediately went home after he was cleared by the paramedics" Replied Kamui woods.
"I gotta say though, that kid had a powerful Quirk too not to mention he's a cutie" adds Mt. Lady.
Before the heroes could continue checking up on the young man, he had already started running and was already on his way home.
"What the-?" says the hero who saw Izuku start to run away
"He's fast" comments Kamui woods
"Kids these days" Adds Death arms
"He's lucky he did get himself hurt" said the other heroes as they proceed to get back to their work.
[On Izuku's way home]
Izuku was turning a corner to get to the station, when he met a blonde and skinny figure "All Might" he said with a low voice, as the man before him walks towards him and says, "Can we talk?"
As much as Izuku wanted to go home and practice the techniques in his vision, he couldn't just deny the number 1 hero's request so he goes along, mostly because he was curious as to what the man had to as, but also because he wanted to ask him another question.
"How'd you find me?" asked Izuku whiles walking towards an empty street.
"It was a guess, that station you were going to is the biggest one around here, that and the fact that it's the nearest station to where the sludge incident occurred" replied All Might
"So, what did you want to talk about?" asked Izuku with his back still turned on the blonde man "If you're worried about me divulging your secret, then don't worry about it, my lips are seald"
"Wait, what?" All Migth babbled out. He had completely forgotten about that. The kid had the knowledge on how to defeat the number 1 hero in his current state and therefore he had the capacity to tear down society, but he completely forgot about it. The kid just seemed completely trustworthy that he forgot to even warn the kid about anything.
"That's not it, kid...I- I'm...I'm sorry" Said All Might "I'm sorry for telling you that you can't become a hero"
"Why? Is it because I have a Quirk now? Because if so, then you have nothing to be sorry about, you were right, I couldn't become a hero without a power...But now I have one so there's no longer any need for you to be sorry, I'm not useless anymore." asked back, Izuku with a sombre tone.
"NO!" Replied All Might with a blaring voice, shocking the young man in front of him.
"Listen kid, remember what I told you? About heroes having to risk their lives all the time?"
Izuku, now facing All Might nodded with his head down, still not wanting to look at the man in front of him, due to his denial of his dream and also partly, due to shame, shame of causing the sludge to escape.
"Today, I have failed to live up to that statement. I was just there watching without doing anything to help. I was nothing but a fake"
"But the incident itself was my fault" Interjected Izuku "If I hadn't grabbed on to you, the bottle wouldn't have fallen off your pocket, and if I hadn't wasted your time, you would've been able to do something about it. I just made everything worse, and despite having been Quirkless I still dared to waste your time asking for unrealistic-"
"That's exactly the point!" Proclaimed All Might, interrupting Izuku from further bringing himself down.
"Of all the people in the scene, it was YOU , a Quirkless young man, who acted, YOU spurred into action, and in the end, it was YOU who saved the day! Most of the top heroes throughout history has shown signs of greatness even as children, and many of them claimed that 'Their bodies simply moved before they even had the chance to think!', unlike them however, even your first thoughts were about helping, the moment we arrived, I saw you, you were already helping the heroes in saving people, it's as if it was instinctual for you to help others, and when the moment called for it, the same thing that happened to the top heroes throughout history happened to you as well, has it not?!"
Izuku, who is now on his knees and about to hear the one thing he has always wanted to hear someone tell him without a shadow of a doubt in his entire life, begins to shed a tear, a tear or joy and pride, as his idol, the greatest hero of them all tells him.
"You young man, CAN become a hero! Or rather, you Already ARE one."
"And now, for the second reason why I wanted to talk to you. Young man, I deem you worthy of inheriting my power!!!"
This immediately stopped the cyan haired boy's cries of joy, as he looks at his idol with a puzzled look, first he receives weird visions of other people with powers that easily trumps that of All Might, then he discovers he is capable of utilizing those people's techniques, and now his idol who had deemed him worthy to become a hero is offering him his WHAT?!
"Um…sorry All Might, but could you repeat that?" asks Izuku with a confused look despite his tear-filled eyes and runny nose.
"What's that face, kid?!" aske All Might with a loud laugh.
"It's a proposal! The real work begins now! Listen here my boy, I'm asking YOU if you want to accept my power and become the next number 1 hero!"
"I'm talking about my quirk, kid. People like to guess that its 'super strength' or some kind of 'power booster', but I always avoid the question in interviews. That is because 'All Might, the symbol of peace' has to come off as a natural born hero. But in reality, my quirk is one that is passed down throughout generations like a torch!"
"A power that can be lent to others…" murmurs Izuku with a low voice, finding the concept rather familiar.
"Yes. And now it's your turn. Are you willing to inherit the power that has been passed down through generations?! The power called ' ONE FOR ALL! '. The first person cultivates the power and then passes it to another, the next refines it and then passes it on again. In this way those crying out to be saved and those with brave a heroic hearts link to A CRYSTALLINE NETWORK OF POWER!! I've been looking for a successor for a while now, and I believe that you, young man, are worthy."
"You may have been Quirkless, a mere hero admirer up until a few minutes ago, but back there, despite being unaware of possessing great power, YOU were more heroic than ANYONE! "
"But of course, it still depends on what you have to say about it. So what do you think, kid?"
Izuku wiping his tears off his face, looks All Might with fiery eyes and says "No, I refuse"
This shook, All Might as the child in front of him had absolutely no reason to refuse his offer.
"Today I found out that I already have a power" Izuku continues "Not only that, but it also turned out to be quite the powerful one. That's why…If I'm going to become the number 1 hero as you said, then I'm going to do it with my own strength, quirk or not, I'm going to become number 1 without using power that is not mine"
Disappointed he might be from the boy's answer. Toshinori can't help but to grin to the young man who refused his offer. 'This kid…'
"Very well, one for all aside however, I would like to train you young man" Requested Toshinori, still hoping to convince the kid to become his successor.
"Train me?" Izuku inquired
"Yes, listen kid, you may already be stronger and faster than even some pros without a physical enhancement quirk, but all of that talent will be put to waste if you don't fully develop it. So, for the next 10 months, I'm going to put you through physical training comparable to hell. As for your Quirk we're only going to work on that in the first half of these 10 months since just knowing to use it for an attack is more than enough for you to bring down any foe you'll face in the entrance exam. Of course, you can still improve on it on your own if you want, its just that your body is the one that is in more need of improvement for you to be able to utilise you Quirk more efficiently."
"I see, so you think improving my physical abilities will consequently improve my Quirk and Quirk usage as a by-product, not a bad plan. Ok then All Might, I'm in! please train me well!" says Izuku unable to contain his grin and excitement with the prospect of training with the number 1 hero.
"Don't worry kid, from what I've already seen of your abilities, after this 10 months of hell, you won't even have to use your quirk to get into U.A" Replied All Might with a grin of his own.
[10 months later]
The U.A staff of pro heroes are currently losing their mind after a cyan haired boy just blew their gigantic 0 pointer robot out of their city replica.
A/N: Hello Reih here, yeah….F*ck ofa! I'm gonna make Izuku so op he won't even need it.
I'm not gonna nerf his Monkey King powers, because as the title suggests, I'm gonna turn him back into a god at some point. Although in my version, I'm going to make his progression a bit slower than what they did in the webtoon, like seriously, they made him so op so quickly in the webtoon to the point where they had to introduce Mori hui. So yes, I'm not nerfing him, but he's still currently in his nerfed state after Mubong's betrayal. So I'm just gonna gradually remove his nerfs throughout the fanfic. And too keep things balanced, instead of trying to fit the absolute WHALE that is Mori into the tiny little pond that is MHA, I was thinking, why not just enlarge the pond that is MHA to accommodate the whale that is Mori jin? So…Anyone up for teaching how to use borrowed powers(Charyeok) to certain characters?
Also if anyone is wondering the dream this time is a memory of Mori Jin training whiles he was stuck in the Heavenly realm.
