DISCLAIMER:
I do NOT own any of the character ideas used in the following fan fiction. It is just an original story idea using the characters of the Manga/Anime.
My OC's are Sinha and Kaya.
Sinha was enjoying the quiet of nature and thinking on her life.
100 years was nothing to a demon, but for Sinha, a half demon, she seemed to notice the passing time more than her mother.
In fact, the only date she was sure her mother remembered, was the day Sinha's father passed away. He was human, and passed from an illness. Which was common with humans.
Such fragile things…
Sinha had not fully understood the life span of humans at the time. In fact, it didn't come until she was older, and she made friends with the seamstress' daughter Akiko.
The two met during that awkward stage of adolescents becoming women. The two taking comfort discussing their fears of the future. Being wives, having children...everything they expected from growing up. It didn't take long for Sinha to begin seeing the differences between her Hanyou life and Akiko's Human one.
Akiko never made her feel any different for being a Hanyou. In fact she often abused the privilege of having her as a friend. She smiled at those mischievous memories. But again, Sinha would see differences as Akiko grew older, and Sinha appeared timeless.
Suitors,
- though not many- would flock to Akiko's confident personality. She was a wonderful person with many skills to make her life an adventure. And before she blinked Akiko was married and expecting her first child.
Meanwhile Sinha began a curiosity about suitors of her own. No one seemed interested in getting to know her, much less presenting themselves to her, human or demon.
So Sinha had discussed it with her mother Kaya.
The day wasn't unlike this one, with the sun shining overhead while her mother was teaching her how to control her fox fire to fix her weapons….
*Flash Back*
"Mother… Akiko is with child. Isn't that great?!"
Kaya nodded, "A little less heat Sinha" she responded concentrating on her daughters work.
Sinha rolled her eyes and released the fire expelling from her palms.
"Why don't I have any suitors?" The question caught her mother off guard.
"I know Akiko is human so technically she is older than I in appearance, however, I still present as the appropriate age." she continued looking at her mother.
Kaya blinked and pursed her lips.
"Is there anyone you are interested in? I didn't think any of the village men or surrounding demons appealed to you?"
A smile crossed her lips.
"Well no… but wouldn't it be flattering if they showed interest anyways?" Sinha giggled.
Her mother closed the distance between them.
"Sinha." her mother began.
Her ears perked up, all distractions voided as she recognized the tone in which her mother spoke.
Kaya folded her hands, her tail wrapping around her upper legs, a habit she had when she had to say something uncomfortable.
Leaning her head in curiosity she watched her mother intently.
"Sinha…" she began again. "My daughter, I must tell you. I wish I could keep you from the reality we live in. But, I think suitors will be few and far between when it comes to ones of the human sorts. Demons too if I am being honest.
Your father and I, had a love that is lost on both Humans and Demons alike; and to many, you will be seen as a disgrace to both my love.
"But there are other Hanyou's like me! Aren't there?" her eager eyes laid upon her mother.
Kaya pursed her lips. "Well yes. I think it's time I started explaining things to you. You are old enough soon to venture on your own if you wish, and I want you to be prepared."
*End Flash Back*
Sinha pondered on the memory. Her mother indeed taught her more about the world she lived in. Deeming her old enough to learn the wonders of relationships, mating, and something she calls "just for fun".
Akiko ended up passing away during child birth, her and the child didn't make it.
Leaving Sinha with another lesson of the world.
The lesson of loss.
Life in the village had been quaint before Akiko, but Sinha had found herself not completely remembering the passing time until they met. Days that previously blended together, suddenly stood still in time. Yet they would also pass extremely fast.
6 years in human time was a lot, but for Sinha, it would just be a blip. She couldn't really remember anything interesting from the first century of her life until her friend became apart of it.
But when she lost Akiko... the days became blurred again.
The sun didn't shine with warmth again for a long time as Sinha filtered through new and harsh emotions.
She had to come to terms with humans having shorter lives than her, which aided in her never wanting to befriend one again. Not that any were lining up. She didn't like the feelings that came with loss but the time that passed helped the kitsune grow into the woman she was today. She eventually dropped the idea of not having any friends at all, but she held an expectation of them as well. She did her best to distance herself as they began their married lives, and she found it much easier the past few times when their lives ended.
She was better at interacting with humans, with her father's personality shining through. He was a unique individual according to her mother.
"He never judged someone for their looks or background. Heck when we met, I was sure he wouldn't even stick around since I was a demon.
But he told me that I had done nothing to warrant the cold shoulder.
After that-he intrigued me.
Your father always looked for the light in the dark, and was adept at taking care of himself and would help others when they were down on their luck."
"He had such a pure heart." Kaya would frequently remind Sinha of this trait since it was hard to find in humans.
"You're just like your father, and sometimes I worry for you." her mothers words filled her head.
She stood and stretched looking at the canopy of the tree above, where Inuyasha sat quietly- napping, or just sitting in thought. She knew that she needed something in her life, a friend, or a companion. So when she chanced upon Inuyasha that morning, she made her move.
His golden eyes opened, meeting hers, as if knowing she was staring.
To her, he was worth it. She was normally very shy when it came to anyone outside her village. She even shied away from festivals around her own home if too many people were there. So for her, Inuyasha was a great fit. He understood her thoughts about crowds, though he was definitely more comfortable in them. Having escorted her through a few in the past.
oo-oooo-oo Memory oo-oooo-oo
Inuyasha's hand held hers as they walked through the crowded market in search of Kaya. Her green and pink kimono a soft contrast to his red fire rat cloth. The pair were easy to spot, so the attention being paid to the young half demon was causing her a lot of anxiety.
As they passed behind the main road Sinha attempted to flee for the fields, looking to escape the festival goers at first chance.
"Sinha!" Inuyasha called after her, reaching for her hand, pulling her back-the momentum causing them both to tumble backwards. The dog demon catching the brunt of the fall.
"You're never gonna get over your fear if you always run woman." His semi-annoyed voice exclaimed.
She looked to her side and saw her friends smirking face.
She squinted her nose at him, and stuck out her tongue. "I don't see what the big deal is, it's not like any of them are important to me, so why do I need to get used to crowds?"
Inuyasha seemed to think pensively, unbeknownst to her, his mind was thinking of the future, the far future, where the possibility of his and hers existence was a very real reality.
"I just think- It could come in handy if there were a lot of humans…" he commented.
She laughed at the remark. "Well I'll just have to find a place just for me." she teased avoiding the topic.
"Only you? What about me!" her golden eyed companion whined.
He untangled himself from her sitting up.
She leaned back on her elbows, enjoying the grass.
"Well…. I GUESS you can be there too." a twinkle filling her eyes.
"Besides, you'll be too busy with your life by the time the earth is soooo populated." her continuous rant filled his ears.
"Well who says I'm ever gonna leave your side?" the haughty dog proclaimed.
"You're stuck with me as far as I'm concerned."
Sinha looked over at her companion. She wondered if there was any truth in his words. Longing for someone to stick around, someone who could travel with her and enjoy life.
She dashed the feeling instantly, knowing her thoughts were out of selfish means.
"Inuyasha...I know one day you will move on from me." her tone regrettably turning serious.
A glazed look filled his eyes as the dog-demon moved towards her. She fell back to the grass, her heart pounding in her chest.
The two of them always had a spark below the surface, that neither would admit to. But often, they could feel the tug, and their instincts would guide them to do things they both swore against. Mostly because he was awaiting for the young priestess to return.
"Inuyasha…. We can't…" her hazel eyes contradicting the words she was speaking.
He paused and released a sigh, moving closer, his lips passing a breath away from her cheek, over her ear, and back to her lips.
Suddenly he gave her a quick kiss on the cheek, and sat up.
"I'm not leaving you." was all he spoke.
She stared at the sky, getting a grip on her heart beat. She finally stood as he rose, and began removing the grass from her kimono.
"Oh no! A stain…." she proclaimed as she glanced down.
Inuyasha rolled his eyes. "Come on, we still need to find Kaya." he nodded back towards the crowd.
Sinha's face fell and she gave him a sour look.
"Can't you go for me?" she whined.
"Not A Chance." he clearly spoke, extending a clawed hand.
Together they began their second attempt into the crowd.
+++End
Sinha had been cautious ever since then, guarding her heart as best she could with the demon above her. But there was a link between the two that they both couldn't understand.
She had been the first to bring it up and since then, it has come up in conversation a few times. She knew how easy it would be for her to be with him.
Having decided long ago that he made her whole. But she also never let herself forget exactly how odd his past relationships had been.
Leaving him a bit of a mess in that department if she was honest.
She smiled to herself.
If he ever proved that he wanted to be with her, would she really tell him no? They were so close… she doubted her answer would be anything but yes.
Her heart fluttered at the idea of having her best friend become more.
He is a handsome dog-demon, and powerful, and his sense of humor matches her own dark humor. Plus her mother loves him….
But Kagome….
She half smirks at the unknown person. Often Sinha has pondered on meeting her. Bringing it up to Inuyasha, who was still confused on what she now meant to him.
The two not having any secrets, no topic off limits.
But what is going on in his head?! Her mind pressing on the current situation.
Inuyasha had left- to be with Kagome. And suddenly he returned. Not only did he show up out of no where, but he had hardly spoken a word to her since. Quite unusual for the pair.
Her mother would just say he just needed time to think, and would say for Sinha to be patient. But it had been over a day now, and the kitsune had run out of patience.
I don't know how my mother would be able to keep waiting... Though she knew it had something to do with how they both perceived time differently.
As she looked around a soft thud came from beside her. Inuyasha had dropped beside her, landing in a soft thump of silver and red.
His aura filled her senses with his nearness. Their eyes locked, and she understood without words being spoken that he had something to say.
His eyes were always so open for her to read for her.
His hand reached for her and she took it in return rising to his side.
"So- are you going to tell me today what is going on?" she began, noting he had not released her hand.
Inuyasha moved closer to Sinha, golden eyes boring into her hazel ones. A free hand brushing her cheek softly, his claws leaving a tingle where it passed.
She could feel a hum of energy filling her down to her toes, as she dove deep into those golden orbs looking for an answer.
He leaned forward, planting a soft kiss to her forehead. As he pulled back he turned pulling her along, intending them to walk and talk.
She wrapped her free hand around the arm holding her hand, in the familiar gesture they had become accustomed to.
Kami how she had missed him.
She was at a loss whenever Inuyasha had left. She was always used to the obnoxious demon visiting his village and human brother Miroku in the past. Sometimes for a few weeks. But when he had left this time, she knew it was to return to Kagome, and truthfully, it had torn her in two.
She knew she did it to herself, the two of them crossing lines that they themselves had set to prevent such heart ache. But it hadn't helped in the least when reality came.
Kaya had been on a trip to check on things for the summer season, so she was unaware of the change between the two Hanyous. Often she was gone for months now that Sinha was older. She often worried for her mother when she was gone, but she was now used to having Inuyasha to occupy her mind while her mother traveled. Until recently that is.
Kaya would have a fit knowing she missed her favorite dog demon leaving.
All of these thoughts filled the background as Sinha pondered on his return.
Still walking quietly, her mind sparked questions.
What of Kagome? Did she leave him? Did she get hurt? Go home?
Is he only here to say good-bye?
A shock split through her heart as the final though made its appearance.
Feeling her hand clench, Inuyasha turned to Sinha and saw the turmoil and questions behind her face.
The urge to still those emotions for her rushed to the surface as he faltered in his steps.
"I really can't take anymore of this Inuyasha." Her voice pleading to his ears.
"You know I have HORRIBLE patience. Can you just tell me what is on your mind? Are you leaving for good?"
Looking down on his companion he could feel the unease running through her as could see her tail wrapping around her legs as her eyes pleaded to him.
He pulled her to him then, crushing her to his chest. He let out a laugh, confusing the fox demon.
"I told you before, that I wasn't leaving you. Get it through your thick head." his curt response met with an honest gaze.
Her heart fluttered.
"Well, you need to speak clearly…." she pushed.
"I thought you were going to be with..Kagome." she side glanced at mention of the miko.
He closed his eyes shaking his head, "I tried, I really did. But you have to understand…"
He grabbed her chin leaning forward, closing the space between them to only a hair.
"I couldn't forget you.
Every time she smiled, I thought of your smile, every embrace, left me feeling like something was missing.
I wanted to give her everything she has given me. What she deserved….
But I realized I was being unfair to her.
I was trying to be something that I could no longer be.
I began falling back into my old self.
All of my doubts coming back, the anger, I no longer enjoyed the same things as I did with you."
He softly kissed her. Pulling away.
"I told her I was in love with someone else. Someone who deserved to be loved fully and not just with half of me. I didn't want to give her only half of me, because all of me... was already yours..."
Sinha blanked at the spoken words from the silver haired demon pressed against her.
"My heart has chosen, and it wasn't Kagome…."
His words hitting her like lightning.
Her inner youkai responding to the spoken words with a warm fire spreading through her. Accepting the confession before her human side could.
She glanced down, unsure if she was willing to open herself up to him, knowing that he could possibly mean it now… but would it hold out in the future?
Turning away from him,
"Inuyasha….we both know that you might mean it now, but you loved Kikyo and Kagome just as fiercely…" she said thinking back on their conversations over the years.
He closed his eyes at her response.
"Sinha, I do love them, I love them each for what they have given me. Kikyo, helped me find peace with humans, and Kagome….has given me so much...she was the reason I became the strong demon I am today, and has given me friends and family. She even continues to give...even though I hurt her…"
I know he still loves her…her voice pulling her back to reality.
"But…" he continued, her ears focusing strongly on the word. Inuyasha kicked the ground, red filling his face.
The half demon was anything but open about his feelings she knew, so for him to actually stand here and be honest with her- did not go without notice.
"But you don't understand, Kagome and Kikyo were two people I couldn't be fully committed to. I never understood why I felt that way with them. But you… There is such a freedom in loving you. It's not shadowed by guilt, or responsibility. You stand here equal to me in what you give. And I want to keep giving my life to you. I know Kagome will be ok without me. But I would never be okay without you."
She grabbed him then, crushing her lips to his in a euphoric haze at his words.
His responding kiss sending shock wave after shock wave through her, down to the tip of her tail.
Her pounding heart filling her ears, surrounded by his proclamation.
The words playing over and over in her head.
Inuyasha felt shock at the sudden embrace and kiss Sinha placed on him, but quickly he felt relief flood his nerves as he bared his heart to the woman he loved.
Sparks of lightning pulsing through him with each push of her lips on his. His inner demon humming at the sensations she was giving him.
Suddenly, their kiss turned, hands beginning to roam over each other, as he gripped the small of her back. He lifted Sinha to him, strengthening their kiss, not able to get enough of the fox demon.
He broke their kiss, panting from the fire building in him, his fangs growing and dripping with want.
How bad he wanted to sink his fangs into her shoulder, and mark her as his right there. His eyes tinted red at the edges as he looked at Sinha, her hazel eyes sparking with gold, deep brown stripes edging her face as her inner demon surfaced with an equal him to feel a rush of lust in his groin.
She pulled him to her again, moving her hips- relaying the heat she feels for him.
His hands dip lower, to her waist, devouring her lips and pressing her core to him, bringing her to her toes.
Years of pent up tension was being relayed in their kiss, their souls wanting more of each other in the revelation.
Sinha pulls as much strength as she could and broke away. Stepping back, panting as she did.
"Inuyasha….." She looked at his red-rimmed eyes, slightly smiling at the lust she sees filling them.
He smirks, licking his lips as his eyes roamed her body as she stood in front of him. Her intoxicating smell filling his senses.
Sinha could feel his youkai in waves against her skin. The reality of their need presenting itself to her.
She touched her lips, still feeling the pressure from their kiss as she gazed at him.
Turning towards her home she nodded towards the path.
"Shall we?" she smiled.
He crossed his arms, and smirked. Stepping to join her.
The pair began to walk, the breeze cooling their heated nerves.
They walked hand in hand back towards her home. The future filling her mind.
What did this mean, would they leave on their own? Start their own adventure?
She didn't much feel like leaving home yet, though…. She wasn't sure what the privacy would be like with her Full Demon mother around.
Would Inuyasha visit his friends still, would he introduce her to them?
She paused as they reached the garden.
"Inuyasha…. When will I meet your friends? When do you think I should… meet Kagome?"
Her tail swished in an anxious manner, finally tucking along her leg. A habit that hadn't been so prevalent until today.
Inuyasha blushed, scratching behind his head. "Uh… yea…. so...I mean…"
He turned then, "We can go whenever you like… but uh… Kagome said she needed some time…" he awkwardly replied, his gaze downcast.
"So….is she okay about all of this?" Sinha persisted.
"Did she really look okay? When you told her about me? I don't want her to hate me…. We've never even met…."
She touched his shoulder, encouraging him to turn back to her. She stepped into him, embracing him from behind when he refused.
His body shivered at the touch.
If I were in her shoes… I think I would be falling apart….what if she needs to see him… Did she get closure on their ending?
Her brain was rampant with thoughts of what the poor miko was going through.
"I think…..you should check on her…." the words caught him off guard, causing him to reel back from her, leaving the warm embrace.
"What!" he exclaimed, a low whimper escaping him.
"You can't be serious! She said she was fine! That she just needed space!" he rushed to explain.
Sinha stood tall, looking on the man before her, crossing her arms.
Gold flecks filled her gaze as her youkai dripped from her voice as she spoke. Obvious irritation laced in her tail flicks.
"Inuyasha. You and I have spent a lot of time talking. If I know anything about Kagome, from what you have told me, she is too kind to tell you how she really feels if it was going to hurt you or your decisions."
"She may be a strong woman, but there are things that even she will have a hard time with. You need to go see her."
The finality of her words emphasized with a hard gaze and flick of her tail.
Inuyasha knew he didn't have a choice once Sinha had made up her mind. She always held him accountable….
He looked at her, his own internal flame wilting at what expectations lay before him.
He knew Kagome, when she said to leave her alone… she meant it… But….
Normally she means it when she storms off…. But this time….maybe Sinha is right….
He thought back on the painful memory of their parting. He knew he had torn her heart in two. He saw it in her eyes. And like a fool… he had run away as soon as she gave him the option. Ready to let her face the decision alone.
He was a horrible friend… a horrible person….
Sinha could feel Inuyashas' aura shrink as his shoulders slumped forward.
His silver hair falling forward shrouding his ivory face.
The irritation in her blood vanished at the sight of him, knowing the dog-demon was more sensitive than he let on. She could feel the emotions rolling off him.
"Inuyasha…" she spoke softly. "You know I am right… and I know you would eventually want to check on her...I'm just horrible at waiting, and I think my instincts are right on this one. You need to talk to her. Before we can move on together, you need to clear the air with her.
After all, she is a part of your life, she isn't going anywhere…and I want to meet her."
Her words hit another nerve with him.
Kagome really isn't going anywhere…. She can't go home…. She's going to live..and possibly…. He cut his thoughts short at the painful thought.
She was right. He had to clear the air. He didn't want to miss out on anymore time with Kagome. But he also didn't want to leave Sinha's side….
Besides, he knew if they could meet, that the two women would become friends. Noting the traits he found similar between the women who filled his life.
UGHH! Why do I do this to myself! He whined internally.
He looked up at the tan skinned beauty before him. Knowing he would do anything for her.
"I'll go. I'll leave tonight if that's ok…" his voice questioning.
Sinha smiled tenderly at him and moved back to embrace him, planting a kiss on his lips. The pair quickly fighting to devour the other as their heated embrace fueled inner temptations.
"That works. Cause I can't wait to meet your friends. I'm tired of just stories…" she smiled coyly at him.
He nodded, looking to the sky.
"Well… looks like I still have some time before I need to leave…. And Kaya isn't around…." he inhaled her scent at the base of her neck as he spoke.
"No way mister. Not until this is cleared up." she said while pressing against him. Fueling the flames intentionally.
"But you best believe I am just as anxious as you." her remark making his jaw drop at the open confession. A blush filling his cheeks.
"Until then, why don't we eat. I'm starving…."
You're telling me! He thought to himself.
She laughed at the look on his face. He looked as if a day of fun became a day of work.
He growled low.. "Fine."
The two moving towards the doorway to her home.
