Hello everyone! I'll put the notes at the end of this chapter!

DISCLAIMER:I do NOT own any of the character ideas used in the following fan fiction. It is just an original story idea using the characters of the Manga/Anime.

My OC's are Sinha and Kaya.

Stars sprinkled the dark sky, Inuyasha and Kagome still slept- leaning against one another; in an attempt to avoid the wet ground.

Inuyasha stirred first, turning to watch her sleep. He looked at her face, pale skin over soft cheeks, long eyelashes brushing against them- with her nose outlined by the fresh moonlight.

She was beautiful.

Kagome…

When did he forget? When had he quit seeing Kikyo?

He never admitted it to Kagome, but often he would see pieces of Kikyo in her appearance or actions.

But at some point, his longing for Kikyo had left him and Kagome had remained.

Could it be because Kikyo still walked the Earth for so long?

He thought back to the torture he endured when Kagome had returned to her time, leaving him to the reality of Kikyo AND Kagome lost to him.

He had thought he would wait for her for a millennia or more.

Where had the longing gone? Was it because of their time apart?

Was it really that easy for him to give her up?

He pondered on the thought as he brushed his hand along her cheek.

Kagome nuzzled into his shoulder as she stretched her arms in front of her, waking her body from its slumber.

She arched and wiggled, sending blood flowing through her legs which had grown stiff from their upright position.

"How long were we asleep?" she asked groggily.

"I'm not sure, but it doesn't feel like it was too long, the ground is still pretty wet." he responded, a hand grazing the ground.

Kagome stood and stretched some more.

Inuyasha watched as she shook herself, adjusting her robes and taking a seat on the edge of the well.

She crossed her ankles, her legs next to his head as he stayed seated.

The space she previously occupied against him, noticeably cooler.

They both sat in silence as sleep left and reality crept back in. Kagome shifted away, gazing at the forest nearby.

She focused on their surroundings and her heart ached. It was time…

Suddenly she asked- still looking towards the trees.

"When did you quit waiting for me?"

Startled, Inuyasha's ears twitched at the question.

"I never stopped!" he proclaimed as he scrambled from the ground. "I just…"

His voice faltered as he tried to think about what she asked.

How could she know what he was thinking about?!

Silence fell between them again. The familiar lack of sound prompted Inuyasha's head to race.

Kagome couldn't focus on anything but his breathing as she waited. She wanted the truth, and she would give him as much time as he needed to say it.

I just need to know…. She turned her attention back to the dark hole she sat next to.

How long did I lament for him after he'd moved on?

"-Inuyasha basically left the village until you came back." Sango's voice filled her head.

Inuyasha had run as soon as she was gone!

She spent so much of her days worrying about her friends here, about if he was waiting for her.

Yes they had never screamed out "Wait for me!" or whatever crap you see in movies but… she had always thought their bond was stronger than that.

That each time she sat in the shrine, or near the tree of ages, that maybe he was there too, thinking of her.

Hadn't they proven their love to each other time and time again? Hadn't she saved him from his demonic side time and again with her love? Hadn't he saved her from countless situations by choosing her first? Hadn't he cried for her when he thought he'd lost her? Hadn't their final battle with Naraku and the Shikon Jewel proven their love would span ANYTHING!

So much… so much in their past and yet…. Here they were. After a few short….. Or…I guess long years…

She began to think about it…

I guess the years could have been long for him too…. waiting… not knowing if she was going to ever appear again…

How much longer would I have waited? Is he really at fault for moving on?

Her heart raced.

Don't fool yourself! Look how long he held onto Kikyo! He couldn't wait for you even half as long!

She clenched her hands into fists. Tension building as her thoughts dangerously shifted.

Emotions laced through her, shifting thoughts into the physical limbs of her body, stiffening as the silence between them bore on.

"I didn't stop waiting for you- I just… I finally let go of Kikyo, and I think that meant letting go of…..you"

Kagome maintained focus on the darkness beside her, focusing on his words.

"Kagome, I never quit loving you. But- I was tired of… being sad, of feeling guilty, of feeling like I had to follow this path we had… when I worked through what I was feeling with Kaya, she helped me understand so much…"

Kaya? She pondered on that name and decided to ask when she had a moment.

"I'm not good at this. I'm not good with words, but she is and I know if you decide to meet her, maybe you would understand."

"It was the end of a chapter in my life, a big chapter, once we defeated Naraku, and when you returned home, I didn't know what to do next. But Sinha found me and…helped everything make sense."

Shaking her head she finally turned to him.

"You never quit loving me, yet you're with another woman. You have BEEN with another woman this whole time. Do you know how many men I was with while the time passed?" she felt her voice shake and steadied herself.

"I never thought of anyone but you. I only want you."

A cold bolt raced down her spine.

"Well- at least… until now…" she muttered, unable to keep eye contact with him.

Inuyasha clung to the last statement she uttered, his blood boiling at the idea of whom she meant.

"You can't be mad at me when the moment I leave- you run to that damn wolf!" he bit back, unable to ease his emotions.

Their eyes locked, combined anger igniting the space between them.

"I didn't RUN to anyone! Kouga came and helped me when you left to be with another girl! He- unlike SOMEONE has always been here, and has always told us how he felt. How can you be so surprised that he was around when you LEFT!"

"I'm not surprised at him sniffing around like the scoundrel he is, I was surprised at how easy it was for you to give in!"

Kagome burst-

"YOU DO NOT GET TO SAY THAT! I DON'T HAVE TO FEEL GUILTY FOR ACCEPTING HIS FEELINGS! You have NO idea what we have talked about or the realizations I've had!"

Inuyasha sneered and turned away.

"Keh!"

"It's not easy giving in to something warm and safe when you're utterly broken!" she hissed, turning away as well.

That one hurt. His shoulders clenched as the words struck him in the chest.

"Kagome."

She cut him off.

"No- Inuyasha, no matter how you try to say it, Kouga is NOT the same as Sinha. Kouga is GOOD. He loves me, and he has always loved ME! He's never seen anyone but me. I don't need to justify my decision."

"Can you stop talking about that damn wolf for a second! And where do you get off saying Sinha isn't good!? She is one of the few people in the world who understands! If you would just give her a chance!"

The pair were again glaring at each other, Kagome prepared to speak when Inuyasha reached over swiftly and covered her mouth with his hand.

He wrapped her in his arm and held her to him so she couldn't step away.

"Kagome Stop. I'm trying to tell you that I get it!"

He looked into her angry eyes and continued to speak as she pushed against him.

"Please understand, I let go of my feelings so that you would have a chance!" His eyes softened and his voice lowered.

"I love you, I do, but I don't know how to love you fully, without baggage. You didn't deserve that. Everything I did, when it comes to Kikyo, you didn't deserve that."

Her attempts to free herself halted as she heard his words.

He released her then, stepping back.

"I'm sorry, I just didn't want us to keep fighting without getting a chance to tell you what I needed to say. It wasn't easy, and I don't know exactly when it happened. I don't have that answer for you."

His head dropped.

"I don't know when it happened, I just know that I love her."

"Believe me when I say I never meant -or wanted- to hurt you."

"But I always do in the end… I just didn't want to do that again. I didn't want to do that to Sinha.. I don't want to ruin what I have with you, or with her. It's selfish I know! But I don't want to lose you."

The pair stood close together as the words escaped his mouth.

Kagome couldn't respond. She knew all too well the feeling of wanting both. Of being selfish. Hell it had crossed her mind more than once since this whole thing had started. She didn't want to hurt Kouga, but at the same time, she was having trouble giving up everything that she had with Inuyasha.

His golden eyes looked down at her and she could merely gaze back. Losing herself for a moment.

They could both feel something at the back of their minds drawing them to each other. The need to forgive each other screaming in their minds.

I could forgive him. We could be friends again. Kagome's thoughts began to haze..

I could forgive- and be…friends…have him…but- he wants her!

A flash of light filled Kagome's vision and she felt control of her limbs slipping. Her spiritual powers filled her fingertips as they reached up for Inuyasha's face- pulling him down to her lips in a kiss.

Inuyasha was stunned as he felt Kagome pull him to her. She snaked her arms around his waist as she kissed him, causing a bell of familiarity to ring out.

Inuyasha pulled away and looked deeper at Kagome. He could see a shift, as if her eyes were made of water, changing from Kagome to Kikyo.

"Kikyo!" he exclaimed, as he pulled back from the embrace.

"Inuyasha…." Kagome's voice spoke. Well… sort of. The odd canter of Kikyo's voice covered the spoken words, something that could only be picked up if you knew what to listen for.

Kikyo….Kagome… folded her hands together as he stepped further back, a look of sadness filling her face.

"You let go- of me?" The words came out choppy and broken. Kikyo took the moment to repeat his earlier words.

Was she still a part of Kagome? Hadn't her soul fully left this world?

"I gave up my life protecting the jewel, and after being brought back, enduring a second life I had not wanted, enduring your constant adoration….. all that time you could not let me go."

Guilt flared up within Inuyasha as she spoke.

"My soul rested easy knowing the Kami intended for our souls to be entwined through time. My soul- forever tied to yours through Kagome. Yet, now it is not as it was. Do you really intend to move on from our bond?"

Kagome's shifting eyes bore into his own. Demanding an answer.

"I-Kikyo- I…I just."

A flare in reiki caused the silver haired hanyou to flinch.

"You may decide to move on….however, this part of my soul was attached out of the need to love you." She stepped back.

Inuyasha could feel his body respond to her as she stepped away, causing him to step forward.

"You may think you have let me go- but as you can see" she took another step back.

"Your soul responds just the same as mine." she finished as Inuyasha stepped forward following her.

Inuyasha blushed at the realization that his body moved on it's own, a need to be near her consuming him.

"Our bond was meant to be entwined through time." she repeated her earlier statement.

"Moving on…. Might just be the hardest thing we do."

Kikyo closed her eyes and Inuyasha knew then that she was gone again.

Kagome stood- eyes closed, not moving in front of him.

She could be a statue for how little she moved.

"Kagome?" he asked timidly, her breathing shallow as he watched for a response.

She finally opened her eyes, and they were lined with water.

"All of this because I am her reincarnation…"

Kagome closed her eyes again, shaking her head.

"I couldn't understand why she was still here. I didn't understand just how much she…." letting her voice trail off she wiped her eyes, preventing tears from falling.

"I just want to go home. I feel as though I'm trapped in a horrible movie."

Inuyasha thought back to the television in her time, something he hadn't thought of in a long time.

Recalling the video games he played with Souta.

He lost himself in thought for a moment until he shook them away, returning to the now.

He felt exposed. The conversation with Kikyo's remaining attachment skinned him open, revealing just how much trouble he had caused Kagome.

This is what I meant by baggage… he thought to himself.

"I miss Kouga." Kagome flatly stated. Causing irritation to rise within the dog demon.

He bit his tongue before he spoke out of turn, reminding himself he needed to be sure it was his real emotions and not some crazy attachment to Kikyo that had him reacting this way.

He thought back to Sinha, she was waiting for him. His heart raced at the thought of keeping her waiting much longer. Yearning for her presence.

"Looks like we need to figure this out, Kagome."

"But we won't get anything done tonight. Let me take you back, and I'll look into this for us."

Irritated at the turn out, Kagome nodded. What else can we do?

She climbed onto her ex-love and tried to block out the warm feelings that came with it. Her heart was thumping in her chest, annoying her with its reaction.

Inuyasha gripped her thighs, securing her to him. He felt a warm buzz pass under his skin at the touch. A flash of her, from before, beneath him, her kimono drawn open, her breasts free from the cloth restraints.

He clenched his eyes shut trying to block the imagery. Failing to do so he shifted her higher up, so her chest wouldn't touch his back.

He growled in irritation as it didn't help.

Kagome felt heat permeating the cloth of her legs. Heat from his body sending lightning shocks through her. Each bolt caused her legs to clench.

"Something wrong?" he asked in a husky breath.

"Just hurry." she responded breathily.

Inuyasha took to a run, doing his best to ignore the pain in his groin as his body demanded to be closer to her. The imagery of her submission playing repeatedly in his head.

It didn't help that Kagome's grip seemed to be digging deeper into his shoulders as he ran, her rigid body attached to him, jostling roughly as they went.

In a rush of breath, she cried out for him to stop.

"Inuyasha stop! I need to get down!"

She needed to get away from his grip, needed to put space between them before these feelings won over and she did something she would regret.

He stopped and she made a move to slide down but realized he hadn't released her.

"Inuyasha please, we need to put space between us."

He ran his hands down her legs as he released her a dark rumble releasing from his chest as she slid off.

He stood stiff facing away from her. Kagome took a step back catching her breath.

Clenching her legs together she tried to ward off the need she was having.

I can't do this to Kouga! Her brain screamed at her, recalling his words as they joined just hours before this.

I belong to Kouga, and he belongs to me. Kikyo needs to just understand that! She tried to shake her head and clear the feelings welling up inside her.

A moment passed and she began to walk.

"I think it's best if I walk." She stood beside the silver haired man and put a smile on her face.

She stood in front of him intending to reassure him with a look, but she blanched at the sight in front of her.

Inuyasha's eyes were tinged red, and purple streaks were forming along his cheeks.

"Inuyasha! What's wrong!" She reached for him and with a quickness his hand shot up to catch hers, pulling it to his face as he inhaled her scent, licking and nipping her wrist in the process.

Kagome attempted to pull away as the sharp nips crippled her legs. "No! Inuyasha we can't! Snap out of it!"

He still didn't release her, instead pulling her closer to him, wrapping his free arm securely around her waist. He switched to inhaling her hair.

A deep growl filled her ear as he pressed her against him. She could feel his enlarged sex against her stomach. To her dismay she let out a soft moan.

She felt herself shift, a haze filling her head as he ran a hand over her.

She began to press against him, giving over to the heated feelings filling her up.

Inuyasha was screaming at himself to stop, having taken a back seat to his demonic blood who demanded she was to be his.

Lust for Kagome that hadn't peaked out in years was showing itself. Angrily pushing any reasonable thoughts away.

No, his inner demon had waited too long for his chosen mate to appear again. He wouldn't lose her again.

Anger at another laying claim to her still fresh in his mind from before and still sour about his loss to the wolf demon- he brushed his lips along the nape of the trembling Miko in his arms.

He could smell him on her…wait, just how far had they gone!

His blood boiled at the thought. Running his tongue over her neck he worked to erase the smell.

He would lay claim to her, re-sealing the bond he had lost too many years ago to Naraku. Blazing red eyes filled his gaze as he locked away all other thoughts but this one.

Kagome felt so odd. She was numb, yet she was feeling everything. Wait- not numb, just unable to control anything through this haze….

She felt Inuyasha claiming her neck, and she struggled against the mist for clarity. She HAD to push him away. For Kouga!

Screams of anger pulsed in the back of Inuyasha's brain as he watched himself begin to mark Kagome. He was messing up! He wanted to do this to Sinha, not Kagome.

Finally, the lust came to a pause as a familiar gaze filled Kagome's face.

Both of them released from the haze simultaneously, each stepping away quickly to gather themselves. Both of them looking at one another with a shocked embarrassment.

Kikyo's final warning blaring in their heads.

"Moving on…. Might just be the hardest thing we do."
