Victoria refused to talk to Ron after that, and those around her could tell that she was miserable. The twins were trying to get the two to talk to each other, but neither one would do it unless the other apologized.
Finally, the twins got together with Harry, Hermione, and even Blaise to try and see if they could get the two to make amends.
"Victoria is stubborn," Blaise said as the group sat at a table in the library. "And Ron hurt her when he said that she had changed."
"Well, you can't exactly blame her," Hermione added. "I mean, no matter what house you're sorted into, it doesn't change who you are as a person."
Harry nodded in agreement. "I mean, I haven't really known her for that long, but it seems like she's a decent person."
"She hasn't changed." Fred agreed. "Despite what Percy and Mum might think. Percy won't even speak to her, and Mum barely writes her, it's ridiculous."
"I think that Mum secretly always thought Victoria would end up in Slytherin," George said. "I heard her and dad talking about it at night sometimes when they thought that everyone was asleep. Dad didn't care what house Victoria would wind up in, but mum thought that she would wind up going down the same path as her parents if she got sorted into Slytherin."
"Why is everyone so worried about that?" Harry asked. "I mean, I get that her parents were bad and all, but come on."
"Just look at Malfoy," Fred said. "He turned out just like Lucius, maybe even worse. I think that was one of the things that Mum was wanting to avoid."
"So what? Malfoy is a prick, he proved that five minutes within meeting him. Victoria has never proven to me that she's anything like him. I mean, Malfoy bullies her almost as much as he does me."
"We need to get Ron to see things the way that we do," Hermione said. "The only question is, how do we do that?"
"Give George and I some time and I'm sure that we can come up with something," Fred said. "Maybe if we can get her to help us with one of our pranks then he can see that she hasn't changed in the least bit."
"It would probably convince him even more if the prank was directed towards Draco." Blaise piped up. "With how much you guys don't like Draco, that might be just the thing to convince him."
"I'm not usually one to condone things like pranking, but I think that it might be worth a try," Hermione said. "Just don't do anything that could wind up getting her expelled, Snape dislikes her enough as it is."
"Don't worry Granger, it will be a harmless prank," George said, and Fred nodded in agreement. "Cross our hearts and hope to die."
"You better hope that it's harmless." Hermione wagged her finger at the two of them. "I may only be a first-year, but I've read all sorts of hexes, and if you do anything to get her into trouble, I'll find a hex to use on you."
"Hermione, we're her brothers, what kind of trouble could we possibly get into?"
As it turned out, quite a lot. It had started out harmless enough, the twins had asked Victoria to sneak some hair dye into Ron's shampoo, which would turn his hair a Malfoy blonde, something that Victoria had readily accepted, wanting to get back at Ron for the things that he had said to her. It was after that that everything went haywire. Victoria had managed to slip the dye into Ron's shampoo bottle, but he must have been allergic to whatever was in it, because when he came down to the Great Hall for breakfast, he was completely bald.
Victoria gasped, covering her mouth when she saw Ron's condition. "Oh my god..." She muttered as Blaise started to laugh.
When Ron confronted the twins, Fred pointed in Victoria's direction, causing her to widen her eyes. "Bloody hell, I can't believe that those rats outed me."
"You!" Ron stormed over to her, his face (and bald head) going completely red with anger. "You made me like this!"
"It wasn't like it was intentional! It was only supposed to make your hair blonde!"
"Blonde?! I don't know if you've noticed, but I've gone bloody bald!"
"Yeah, well maybe it would be a good idea for you to be knocked down a peg!" Victoria slammed her hands down on the table before she stood up, glaring at Ron. "The only reason why I was so glad to do it was because you bloody deserved it!"
"I-"
"No, you shut up and listen to me! I've always been there for you Ron, always, and the one bloody time that I don't agree with one of your theories, you go bonkers, saying that I'm changing, that I've become different. Nothing about me has changed Ron, besides the fact that my older brother and mother both hate me, and you wouldn't have anything to do with me!" Victoria blinked back tears. "Do you have any idea how much that hurt me?! The only thing that I did to deserve it was to get sorted into the wrong house! Percy won't talk to me, Mum barely writes me, you believed that I was some kind of traitor, my only siblings here that would have anything to do with me are Fred and George, so if they ask me to partake in one of their pranks, then yes, I will gladly go along with it, because at least they talk to me!"
Victoria pushed past Ron, running out of the Great Hall, unable to hold her tears back any longer, and it was in that moment that Ron realized how much he had truly screwed things up.
