Chapter 30 ~ Discreet

(Meeting with Elijah continued)

"So everything Katherine said about the curse is true?" Damon ask with a bit of surprise in his voice.

"Yes. I understand completely your reservation in trusting Katherine. I also understand you are not familiar with me, however, if you allow me to prove you can trust me, I strongly believe we can be of great service to one another." Elijah speaks with such confidence and sincerity in his eyes that Stefan and Damon immediately feel at ease. They quickly pass questioning looks at each other and both nod slightly.

"So I take it, trusting you means following you to some location in the woods not known to Klaus?"

Damon can't help the agitation in his voice while repeating what Katherine had told Stefan earlier and he watches Elijah intently as he answers.

"Yes. I mean you no harm. It's just a place I played as a boy here many years ago, was sort of a refuge from my siblings. Klaus has no idea of this place and so we can speak freely and discuss plans and …

Damon interrupts Elijah quickly..."Who is the woman with the hateful stare?" Stefan relaxes some, hearing Damon ask in his usual snarky tone, he knows that means Damon is more relaxed and Stefan sighs as he exhales feeling relieved.

Elijah, without turning around, seeming more at ease also, answers with a knowing expression... "That is Sheila, an acquaintance I met through Katherine. She is a Witch and very important to our plans, she only seems hateful because Katherine has Sheila under-her-thumb, so to speak." Elijah adds with disdain in his voice and a look of disgust that tells them he is not very fond of Katherine's tactics either.

Damon rolls his eyes, even more agitated now.."Well that doesn't sound very reassuring!"

Elijah smirks..."Don't worry Damon, Sheila will be very willing to help when she learns her place and purpose."

Elijah sounds so confident, Damon almost holds back on his next question... "So she doesn't know the plan or about the sacrifice to break the curse on Klaus?"

"Not yet. We just picked her up before we arrived here. Trust me Damon, she is very important to the sacrifice and demise of Klaus. Now, we have wasted enough time, will you follow or not?" Elijah sounds more stern now and Damon and Stefan briefly look at each other and then to the others...

"Give us a minute." Damon states just as sternly. With Stefan following, they both walk over t Bonnie's Car, knowing Caroline already heard everything, they fill in Bonnie and Elena.

Elena is first to ask... "Can we trust him?" Her innocent doe eyes seem to pull heavy at both Stefan and Damon's hearts, as they realize Elena is putting all her trust in them and their judgment.

Stefan looks to Damon again and nods his approval, Damon shakes his head a bit, wondering how he became the leader all of a sudden when he thought Bonnie was running the show, so he looks to Bonnie and she seems to nod with confidence and says...

"I can't explain it but I feel a connection to their Witch, a peace when I look at her."

Stefan and Damon both look at her with raised eyebrows, surprised she knew the other woman was a Witch. That also seems to encourage Elena as she clears her throat and speaks confidently... "Let's do it! Let's trust him."

They all give each other one last look, then Stefan and Damon move quickly aside and they turn and all look at Caroline, who with a small smile, nods in agreement. Damon walks back toward Elijah, who already knows the answer and grins as he speaks...

"Follow us and please tell the two gentlemen Vampires in the car on the side access road, they can follow along to if they would like." Elijah then turns and nods toward the S.U.V. for the women to get in. Katherine tuns on her heel and quickly gets in, while Sheila, no longer having a hateful stare but a stare non the less, does not move until Elijah is starting to get in and she finally follows.

As Damon and Stefan get in his Camaro, they notice Caroline already on her cell, they assume to John, letting them know they have been seen. Within just a few minutes, they all started following the Black S.U.V. back out the same way it had drove in earlier.

Damon and Stefan following first, in silence, neither wanting to interrupt the others thoughts, knowing each other well enough, they knew they were both contemplating what to do if anything goes wrong. Damon felt very confident in knowing they were strong in numbers and protection spells. Damon also felt the Witch Sheilas lack of knowledge, meant she probably hadn't chosen any sides yet. Damon's only uneasiness was Katherine of course, which to him could never be trusted and Elijah, he felt was being really sincere and not exactly a threat at this time.

Stefan was not feeling so confident as he was just minutes ago. He kept thinking of his deep mistrust for Katherine, not wanting to trust anyone associated with her either.

Caroline, feeling lonely, wished she had jumped in the car with Stefan and Damon, feeling very uneasy with her own thoughts and feeling that this may still be a trap. She decided on turning on the radio, keeping it low, just for the noise and distraction.

Bonnie was feeling anxious and not fearful, just curious about the other Witch there.

Elena however, was biting her nails and trying hard to keep her mind from going to thoughts of a trap, and the fact that she was the only one without special powers. Elena pushed the thoughts away and tried to dwell on what brought her comfort, besides five Vampires and a Witch on her side, that being the Barrier Spell. Like Bonnie, Elena was also quiet with just her thoughts.

John and Demetri were also quiet, not feeling very confident at the fact Elijah is really old and probably very strong. They both were the most at ease, being the least emotionally involved in this drama and therefore the least affected by it's outcome. They were however still sincere in helping Elena in any way they could.

After ten minutes or so heading out of town, the black S.U.V. turned off onto a small dirt road, looking as if it was more grass than dirt and like it had not been used in some time. They passed an old, closed down Ranger station on the right and Damon was surprised to see the Black S.U.V. turn left into woods not far passed the station. They all followed, dodging trees for several minutes until the forest became to dense. Elijah stopped and got out and walked over to Damon's side of the car...

"We will have to walk from here, we stopped here because of the natural clearing on either side, which will allow for easy turn around later. Elijah then stepped back some as the other cars came to a stop.

Everyone got out and instinctively stood behind Damon and Stefan. Bonnie and Elena directly behind them but at a safe distance, however, like a small army, they all seem to settle in a circle around Elena eventually.

Elijah just stood there smiling at them and finding it almost humorous at how much they seem to fear he would hurt Elena. Elijah decided to speak and reassure them again, especially since he had not met the others yet.. "We need to walk from here, it will be a short walk and I appreciate that all of you are being so protective over Elena. I want to ensure you all, I have no intention to Harm her, or any of you for that matter. I only wish to discuss a plan that will benefit everyone. Please follow us."

The group all seem to Relax some, even more so when they saw Elijah walk faster, a good distance to get ahead of them and stay close to Katherine and Shelia.

The forest may not have been easy to drive in at this point but walking was easy. Many tall trees and the ground mostly leaves and very little underbrush. As they came up on a much larger tree, they all stared confused as Elijah stepped very close to the tree and stood still waiting for Katherine and Sheila to stand near him.

After they all caught up they cautiously kept some distance and all gathered around, side by side, all accept Elena and Bonnie, who stood farthest from them all to the left side of Damon and Stefan.

John and Demetri, now getting a better look at Katherine, were shocked at how much she looked like Elena. Caroline and Stefan had already filled them in on "Doppelgangers" but to see her up close, they were amazed at just how Identical! Earlier Katherine's curly hair and distance kept them from truly getting a good look at her.

Elijah waited until everyone was settled, and all focus on him before he spoke... "Near this tree is an underground cavern I played in as a boy. I, of course do not expect everyone to follow me down there."

Elijah was amused seeing the strange look on everyone's faces but he quickly continued... "I brought you here because Klaus new noting of this particular cavern when we were young, so I believe it to be a safe place." Pausing to engage everyone's reaction and to see they were listening intently... "Klaus has many connections and loyal followers, which allows him to stay one step ahead at all times, which is why I chose here instead of in town." turning to look at Sheila briefly he went on... "That is why we picked up Miss Sheila on our way and didn't pick a time or place until this morning. We can never know the full extent of Klaus connections and ability to obtain information. Due to that, some of you here today not deemed useful, will be compelled to forget this meeting and everything you have heard here today."

They all noticed Elijah looked over to John and Demetri while he said this. Although they understood, it still made everyone feel uneasy. Noticing this, Elijah reassured them... "It will be for their own protection and ours! The Less people that know, is extremely important to this plans success. Now that's out of the way, let's get to the main matter at hand. As you already know, most of you from Katherine, Miss Sheila was filled in on the drive here by me... Klaus wants too break the curse, put on him by witches, to keep his werewolf dormant. Breaking the curse requires a Sacrifice and the Sacrifice requires a Human Doppelganger, Vampire, Werewolf, Witch, and a Moonstone. You also know that I need to draw him out with word of the doppelganger. The doppelganger. is sacrificed last but Klaus will already be in the first phase of transition to werewolf, which will then make him very vulnerable and that is when I want to kill him!"

Elijah paused briefly before adding... "Now let's move on to what you may not know."

(A/N) Well hello, it has been over three months since my last update on August 8th 2016 and I got really busy but I'm excited to be back:) I must admit this chapter and the next one is not my favorite to write but again a necessary evil lol. I apologize if this chapter seems … I dunno...off...or maybe it's just me;) Anyways …. Hope you all are ready for the Holidays, I myself am very looking forward to them and I'm planning on Christmas shopping early so I can chillax the rest of the season and hopefully really work on this story...a lot:) I also have been reading many fan-fiction stories (too many to mention):) I found an oldie but goodie "19th Century Twins" and I think I would give my left arm to see them finish that story...;) Anyways, as always I hope everyone is enjoying this story and please review:):):) …...until next time...
