The lights from the shops and homes lining the streets of Konoha had long since gone dark when Naruto stepped out of the Hokage's Mansion. Not surprising, as it was a little past three in the morning. Naruto yawned, stretching his arms above his head, turning to pop his neck. A flash of light caught his eye, an unnatural glow from the top of Hokage Rock.

Huh, wonder who's up there Naruto thought, eyebrows raising, turning away from his apartment and towards the path that led to the top of the Rock. The last of the summer heat caused him to remove his jacket, throwing it over his shoulder as he climbed.

You heard Lord Six, you're needed no later than eight tomorrow morning Kurama's deep familiar voice sounded inside his head.

Not like I'm going to sleep at home anyways, after cooking and taking a shower I'll be too awake. Naruto argued back with the fox.

You're going to run yourself into the ground and have to depend on me, brat.

Chuckling in response, Naruto rounded the last curve on the path, reaching the top, the area empty save for one person. Her long hair blew slightly in the breeze, the dark blue color hardly distinguishable even in the moonlight.

"Hey, Hinata." Naruto grinned, she gave a surprised squeak as she turned.

"Oh, Naruto-Kun, I was expecting Kiba. I thought you were him. There's going to be a meteor shower tonight." Hinata looks at her feet as she talks, twisting her fingers in the opposite hand.

"What are you guys doing meeting up here so late?" Naruto asks, just as the other man comes around the corner and into the open area.

"Naruto?" Kiba questions.

"Oh, shit, I'm interrupting a date aren't I, I'll just…" Turning to make his way back to the path, stopping when Kiba begins to howl with laughter.

"Ya hear that Hinata" Kiba makes out between laughs "Naruto here thinks this would be a good idea for a date. Wish I would have thought about that when you told me about the meteor shower. Could have told you to stay away and asked some girl to come with me. Or!" Kiba smirks. "You could have ditched me, well he wasn't back yet," Kiba says the last part slightly under his breath, only directed at Hinata.

"Kiba!" Hinata, her blush visible even in the pale light, as she shoved him in the arm.

"What, I'm just saying, Naruto here had a good idea and someone should take him up on it." Kiba winks at her before sitting on the edge of the rock, legs dangling off the edge.

"You guys are fucking weird." Naruto laughs, looking from the back of Kiba's head to Hinata, her blush growing darker under his gaze. "I saw your device, ya know, the light from it when I was leaving the Hokage's office."

"Oh," Hinata moves to sit on the ground next to where Kiba had laid. "I just, well, I like the stars" her eyes flash up towards the dark sky "and we're supposed to get one of the biggest meteor showers they've seen in the past couple of years."

"Sounds cool, ya know, mind if I stay?" Naruto asks, sitting next to her before she can answer.

"Oh, yeah, no, I mean." Hinata stutters

"Would you two just shut up and look, it's starting." Kiba points at the sky, his sly smile not going unnoticed by the pair.

Naruto looks up, and stars slowly start to streak across the sky, leaving glowing trails in their wake. Time passes, the slight breeze picking up, the stars coming more frequently. Jumping from five to ten to twenty vaulting across the sky at a time. A gust of wind sweeps through, rustling the leaves on the trees lining the path below. Hinata shivers, and without thinking, Naruto moves closer to her. Letting his arm go behind her to allow her arm to press into his side, sharing his body heat. He glances over, noticing Hinata's hair blowing across her face.

"Can't see the stars with your hair across your face." Naruto moves, reaching to tuck the loose strands behind her ear.

"Oh!" Hinata exclaims, the noise getting stuck in her throat, face burning, eyes going wide. "Um, tha-a-aks." She starts to stutter.

"Yo, Hinata, lay down, it's great to not have to crane your neck." The same sly smile covered Kiba's face. He had watched Naruto inch closer and closer to her, watched the way he had moved his arm behind her, his head tilting to the side. If he had lowered it anymore Naruto's head would have rested atop Hinatas.

Naruto pulls the devices from his pocket, noting the time at 4:15am.

"Thanks for letting me stay, but I gotta be back with Kakashi-sensei in almost four hours, ya know. So I'm gonna head home." He smiles at Hinata, and lifts a hand at Kiba "See ya guys."

Kiba's laughter trailed after Naruto down the path, heard Hinata yell his name followed by a smacking sound.

She's always so weird. Naruto thinks, kicking the rocks at his feet.

Blind, naïve, brat. Kurama scoffs

What?!

Think about it. The fox spirit says, before fading into the back of Naruto's mind

Whatever. Shoving his shoulder against his apartment door, toeing off his shoes before falling into bed. Dinner and shower were forgotten. Thinking about Hinata. The way blush had faded from her cheeks while she watched the stars. The streaks of light they left behind reflected in her pale eyes. Remembering how they had started a comfortable distance from one another but somehow by the time he had left, they had been flush against each other. Naruto sighs, rolling to his side, closing his eyes, and falling asleep to flashes of shooting stars and Hinata.
