"Sssshhhh, Don't wake them." A familiar voice cut through Hinata's sleep-addled brain.
"I wish I had my camera, Hinata would love this." A second voice joined in. Hinata moved her head slightly. While she wasn't in the most comfortable position, something deep in her told her not to move.
She had been training with Ko when Naruto and Sakura had shown up. When she and Ko finished, he headed back to the compound, leaving Hinata to lean against a tree and watch the pair before her spar. She had been envious of how easy it looked between them. How the two had traded jokes between hits. She had spared with Naruto, he hated the feeling of losing his chakra to the gentle fist so he would ask for just that. To work on 'fighting without all my chakra.'
She remembered blinking, sleep lingering behind her eyelids, she and Ko had gotten to the training grounds just as the sun became fully visible in the sky. It had been well over two hours before Naruto and Sakura joined them. Before she knew it she'd fallen asleep, back against the tree, head drooping onto her shoulder.
However, when she woke, she felt the hard tree against her back, the bottom of her spine-tingling from sitting on the ground for far too long. Her neck, which she expected to ache from the sharp angle, didn't. Her head rested against something soft and warm. Her legs draped over whatever she was leaning into. Eyelids fluttering open, Hinata makes out the shapes of people in front of her. Sakura and Tenten.
"We finished and he sat down next to you, he was going to wake you up, but it wasn't more than five minutes before he passed out too" Sakura's voice whispered.
Hinata, sleep still fogging her brain, combed through her memories searching for who Sakura had been sparking with. She leans forward, stopping when she feels resistance, looking down to find a large hand splayed across her inner thigh. She turns, only to be met with Naruto's blond hair and sleeping face.
Hinata lets out a noise that could only be described as a squeak before she all but throws herself to the side, well attempting to. Naruto's hand tightens around her thigh holding her to him.
"Sleep." Naruto mummers, her movement causing him to slump forward his head finding the same soft spot his hand had been moments ago. Hinata looks from the sleeping man in her lap to her friends in front of her. Her eyes conflicted.
"He's always been a heavy sleeper." Sakura jokes
Hinata tries again, untangling her legs from his and leaning to the side. This time he falls forward, jerking himself awake.
"What?!" Startled, Naruto wakes
"Have a good nap?" Sakura asks, tone teasing
"How long was I out?"
"Well you meant to wake Hinata up, but instead fell asleep next to her. And you two just looked so cute, I mean comfortable, so when Tenten got here I decided to do a little weapon work and let you two sleep." It now being Naruto's turn to blush.
"Sorry for falling asleep on you." Naruto turns his head to Hinata who sits next to him, legs folding beneath her.
"Oh, no, it's, um, it's fine." The blush mirrored on her face.
"That's the best nap I've had in a while." Naruto stands, stretching his hands above his head. Shirt raising, the two girls watch as Hinata's gaze flickers from his face to the exposed skin and back again. "Wanna go get some lunch?" The question was meant for the group, though his eyes remind only on Hinata. Standing, he offers her his hand to help her off the ground.
"That'd be great!" Hinata falls into step beside him, the two other girls following. "So, you haven't been sleeping well?"
"Eh, not really, well only sometimes. Kakashi-sensei's been giving me a few more responsibilities lately. Just a lot to think about."
"You think they'd realize if we ditched them?" Tenten asks
Sakura stifles a laugh, jerking her head to the side, the pair ducking behind a tree before heading in the opposite direction.
"600 Ryo says they're dating before the year's over," Sakura says, turning her head to Tenten
"You're on."
