Goofy and Pete stopped near Lake Michigan because Pete's RV had broken down. It broke down all the tires got burst due to broken glass on the road. The broken glass was all over the place that there was no way Goofy or Pete could avoid it, no matter how hard they tried. Pete couldn't even break in time (well, he could have if Goofy's panicking about the broken glass didn't distract him.)

The good news was that Pete had all the spare tires in the RV to replace, but the bad news was that when he told Goofy to go and get them out, Goofy accidentally let them all loose and they all landed in the enormous lake.

"It could have been much worse, Pete," was all Goofy could say when his friend snarled at him.

"Oh, yeah? How much worse could it have been, Goof?" Pete asked warningly.

"Well, it's still nice, dry and warm," Goofy said. "It could have been worse if it was cold and raining."

All that did was just made Pete growl and yell, "JUST GET THOSE TIRES BACK HERE!"

Goofy made his way down to the nearest beach to get the tires back (how he got down was by tripping over a rock, falling down on the steps and finally landed on the beach near the lake.

"Excuse me, sir."

Goofy looked up and turned to see an African American dog lady wearing a sleeveless black swimsuit with white and purple stripes on it. She had a scuba diving tank on her back and a diver's mask hanging on her neck. He immediately recognised her as one of Max's ex-girlfriends. "Lola?"

"Mr. Goof?"

"That's me."

"And are those your tires?"

Goofy looked at the tires in the lake. "Yep, they sure are. Well, they actually belong to a friend of mine and I let them loose and I've come to collect them."

Lola took her scuba diving tank and mask off. "Well, join me in my boat and I'll help you pick them up and bring them back to your friend."

"Gosh, thanks."

After helping Lola push her big wooden rowboat out to the enormous lake, Goofy got in with her and they got to work. Lola rowed the boat while Goofy picked up the tires and put them in it. Luckily, it was big and strong enough to take the weight of every tire.

"So, have you found Max yet, Mr. Goof?" Lola asked.

Goofy was surprised. "How did you know Max was missing?"

"I saw it on the news."

Goofy had forgotten that. "No. And I've been searching with my best pal Pete. You haven't seen him here at all? He ain't hiding in an underwater cave or anything like that?"

"I check the health of the marine life in this lake every day, Mr. Goof," Lola explained. "If I spotted him, I would look after him and let you know immediately. Besides, I've been trying to call him and check on him on social media, but I got nothing from him at all. But if I do spot him, I will let you know. I do hope he's all right, wherever he is."

"Gosh, nice to know you still care about him," Goofy said.

"Of course I do. I may not be Max's girlfriend anymore but he's still one of my very best friends. I have dated a few more guys since I had to move to the University of Michigan, but none of them were like Max. He was very special and amazing. And even though we still call and keep in touch on social media, I do miss seeing him in person."

Goofy was touched by those very kind words that Lola said about his son. "Gwarsh, that's very swell of you to say, Lola."

"Thanks, Mr. Goof," Lola said.

"So, this is where you work, is it?"

"It sure is, Mr. Goof. I've been working here since I had to move from Spoonerville College and to the University of Michigan. I've been working on this lake ever since I first started to do work experience for my marine biology degree. Then, after I graduated, I became an intern here and worked my way to becoming in charge of protecting, promoting and improving the marine life that live in this lake."

"Gwarsh, you've done well."

Lola smiled. "Thanks, Mr. Goof. And how have you been?"

Goofy told her that he had been jobless recently, that his girlfriend Sylvia Marpole had been leave him to tend to her very poorly mother and he had now lost his son Max and has been searching for him ever since he went missing.

"Cheer up, Mr, Goof," Lola said. "I'm sure Max will be found soon. And if it's me who finds him, I will let you know at once. I promise."

"I can't thank you enough."

After they grabbed the last tire, Lola rowed the boat back to the beach. Then she got out of the boat and then took off her wetsuit revealing a bright orange bikini.

As Goofy got the tires out of the boat, he found an angry Pete standing close to him and giving him an angry look.

"Gosh, Petey," Goofy said. "Lola and I just finished rescuing all your tires. See?"

"Yeah, I see, Goof! I see I can't use them!"

"Why not? Because they're full of water?"

"Not anymore! They have no more air than they do of water."

"What do you mean, Pete?" Goofy asked. Then he had a look and saw what Pete meant.

All the tires had ripped a hole in them and water was pouring out.

"Oh, gosh, Petey," Goofy said. "I'm really sorry."

"Sorry is not going to get my RV going again!" Pete snapped.

"Maybe these spare RV tires will," said Lola, who was now wearing white sandals, green shorts and a green tank top. They were very similar to the clothes she wore at Spoonerville College.

"What do you mean?" Goofy and Pete asked together.

"Follow me."

So they followed her.

Half an hour later, Lola helped Goofy and Pete put spare tires on the RV. As they fitted them on (and luckily they were the perfect size for it), she explained that tires kept on being dumped into the lake from time to time. As it was her job to look after the lake, she picked them up and stored them safely in a nearby giant wooden shed as they were in fine condition and could be used again.

"How much do we owe you, Lola?" Goofy asked.

"We, Goof?" Pete asked, hovering above him.

"It's free, Mr. Goof," Lola said. "Just think of it as doing my part for helping you find Max. Well, I must go and report to this to the office now. Bye and good luck." Then she waved to Goofy and Pete as she walked away.

"Bye, Lola." Goofy waved back. Then he got dragged back into the RV by Pete.

"Come on, Goof. We're way more behind schedule than ever."

Then the RV zoomed off in a flash.
