Prologue

Fright.

Being frightened.

Close to whatever Noriko Mochizuki is currently feeling with her male friend Hiroki sharing the same fear. They have no solid comprehensions of where the Japanese pair are now; ever since they were abruptly grabbed in the Ginza District of Tokyo, Japan by men in archaic clothing and transported into a large horse-drawn cart (a real one to boot) covered in a leather-like canvas — along with other captured strangers from their modern city.

"We got to find a way out here, Noriko." Hiroki said in his country's language.

"H-how? Our hands and feet are bind together and I cannot see something around to cut these ropes."

"I will... think of something, dear. We have to stay strong for us to take an opportunity to escape."

"You truly think so... Hiroki? But that still leave us with this foreign language unknown to all of us here. It is not going to be as easy as learning English and French back in our high school years."

"Still, I got to believe that somebody from our country or even here will come for... us?" The male Japanese unexpectedly hears the buzzing sounds of... insects?

"Oh no... did they disturbed a hornet nest nearby?!"

Outside, the medieval slavers are on alert of those concerning noises that are getting closer to their caravan. The fact that those ominous sounds are detected at night further makes virtually everyone uncomfortable. Therefore... a large swarm of insect-like 'creatures' flies into the surprised group. Panic sets in as the human kidnappers try to swipe away those countless 'bugs' (and yet not being bitten by them). Frankly though, this dense crowd of small 'pests' is more concentrated on the living cargoes taken from the mystical Gate on Alnus Hill. It is there that the 'otherworldly' captives in their fright are experiencing multitudes of tiny stings upon their precious, yet bruised bodies. Several seconds of epidermal violations later, the uninvited swarm surprisingly make haste outward from their human targets — and vanish under the dark cover of night. The now confused slavers soon check around their surroundings for anything all right or damaged. Gradually, they assess the captives brought from the mystical portal... and see these otherworlders being all quiet and rather stiff; but all of them sound out slow breathes of life. With the sapient 'goods' allegedly intact, the Falmartian traders resume their movement for the Imperial Capital of Sadera.

A rather peaceful while later at the same place where that swarming incident happened, a cloaked individual turns off his electromagnetic invisibility and walk across the dirt road that would eventually leads to a major stone-paved highway. Once at the other side, another individual deactivates the same kind of cloaking ability in front of said person with his enclosed helmet on — who soon depolarize the visor for his human face to be revealed. "Did those tracking nano-machine implants working alright?"

The recon soldier with evident features of hyper-advanced robotics then checks out the holographic display on 'his' wrist-oriented tactical device; where it shows the digital signals emitted by those nanobots inside the captured humans on the projected map. "The detected impulses from those captives clearly indicate that the swarm's anatomical injections are successful, Second Lieutenant. Then again, you could've done your own personal examination on the unfortunate hostages without actually coming up here."

The helmeted man smirks behind his visor. "Oh sure, I could totally check up the poor fellas' medical welfare for like... every two to five minutes. But, sometimes I would appreciate a nice change of pace from the mundane boredom of clandestine observation: such as chatting a sapient being like you in person."

The more robotic humanoid expresses an annoyance at 'his' human counterpart. "Kaydin, I do recommend yourself in being careful with compromising our hidden positions here. We cannot ignore our current field assignments of monitoring the activities relating to that inter-dimensional portal appearing on the denizens' so-called sacred hill of Alnus four days ago."

"No worries right there. I clearly understood the necessity to witness all potential miracles — and catastrophes — as consequences of that supernatural gateway to exist for all the people of this... uh, rather stagnant continent of societal and scientific progress to see. Yeah." The male's eyebrows soon furrow. "Although I'm not quite convinced with allowing the kidnapped folks from a different Earth to endure the painful aspects of slavery practiced by Saderan arseholes."

"Your moral opinion on this extra-dimensional abduction is acknowledged, 2nd Lieutenant Buck. Nevertheless, we do not have any significant force ready to be properly deployed around the phenomenal landmark of interest over there; alongside the directives from High Command given to us that should not be ignored."

"Uh... yeah, I don't think my brain could stay oblivious to the hundreds of millions of drones, battle tanks, bipedal mechas, attack VTOLs, orbital bombardment vessels, and other military equipment combined at our disposal. Still, there is the question of where exactly are they currently stationed in this solar system."

"Honestly sir, that type of information is likely classified from even to my knowledge. At this point, we're all going to wait and see on how our higher ups' grand plan will unfold for the following events."

"Hmm... you know, perhaps we should've situated a few divisions of asymmetric warfare professionals across this somewhat brain-dead continent some years ago. Like around a couple months after the human empire of Sadera subjugated those wild rabbit ladies of the Volgia grasslands."

"It's debatable, second lieutenant. The Imperial desperation being monitored for the last three years didn't appeared to warrant such overblown deployment. Additionally, the Trojan Mares living in multiple cities as 'pleasure' slaves at present are all that's needed to record the Empire's distress for continual... advancement."

"Right... I have a feeling my damsel apprentice has something else to say about that hedonistic profession forced upon her covert sisterhood, by the way. Also, I got one last question to ask until we go back to observation mode."

"...Proceed."

"Can you relay my request to change my armored outfit for ranger disguises?"

The metallic scout leader displays the equivalent of annoyed expressions. "Apologies, Kaydin. I'm definitely not the soldier to do your bidding; and your demand has to be your personal responsibility."

"Is... that a joke? A referral from you could help since I've been recently denied for costume changes many times in the last two days."

"First of all, I'm not joking. For that second part, the top brasses would most likely ignore my referral for your vigilante hobbies that you've been pestering about lately. In any case, let's head back to our surveillance assignments — without making any unwise move that can warrant your potent transfer to Bad Company."

Author's Note/s:

Not a rewrite for my other multi-crossover project where it opened up to an Earth having similar global crises to our current reality; but this fanfic story could still provoke uneasy questions when I proceed with the upcoming interactions between the Japan Self Defense Force (more or less the canonical depiction from manga and anime), medieval people of Falmart, and the 'extraterrestrials' not of that fantasy world. Hopefully though, this separate plot would not be inundated with debatable issues about human nature and more about enjoying the... um, adventure.

Anywho, this narrative combination will include GATE: Jieitai Kano Chi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri; Halo; Starcraft; Destiny; Borderlands; Warhammer 40K; Call of Duty; Gears of War; X-Com; and potentially more. Copyrights infringement not intended.
