The origins of Nanozell Technology are not as confirmed as many historians tend to depict them.

While it's true that the main propagator was the High Prime, there is also some degree of awareness among scientists and the High Prime herself in regard to the technology having been harnessed in the past, by the Old Prism culture. Further studies confirmed that the first ever recorded Nanozell-made spirit was a companion to the Grand Knight, having laid down the basis of what the general characteristics most spirits preserve.

That being said, however, the High Prime was the one that further established an extensive characterization of the known elements in regard to the Nanozell Technology. To start with, Spirits were but just a part of the technology as 'Nanozell' was mainly a particle that existed within the exertion of magic within technological form. From normal cells, then into proper colonies and then spirits.

Spirits themselves were those capable of manipulating those entities lesser than them, following an internal hierarchy that divided said spirits in types (favoring different specializations), variants (self-improving versions) and concentration of nanozell (Basic Spirits, Advanced Operators, Guardian Spirits, Prism's Core).

The first reported classification for this new science was in 2054, with further officialization within 2076 and 2079. While Prism did enjoy for a time an open-share for the diffusion of the technology, restrictions were enforced in 2098 due to economic issues followed by industrial espionage trying to gain control of the main source of the technology.

This development led to the cooling of relations through the first decades of the 22nd Century as Humanity was thus restrained from tapping into this new technology. While many diplomats fiercely battled for rights, the deep truth that was widespread for Prism and beyond was quite simple: this technology was the equivalent of a new nuclear arms race and came with the ramifications of allowing more disunited people to use such power.

Some understood, but many more didn't. And a couple of which didn't accept 'defeat'. In 2142 a large group of enforcers made by Narakhan mercenaries tried to accomplish an heist paid by a group of representatives working for energy-related companies in human territories, the event turning in a vicious firefight that would reignite a heated debate on the topic, only resulting with a permanent ban on standard trading of Nanozell technology.

It was a dreadful event for the many that had hoped for pacifistic intentions to slowly thaw that form of distrust, but didn't stop other companies from just using the present technology to try and harness the Nanozell particles themselves. In some ways, these efforts were rewarded with improved limited AI, but most of these cases eventually resulted in the ever-present phenomenon known as the 'Rogue Spirits' problem.

The first reported case was in 2148 when several factories administered by the Nanozell A.I. known as 'Excellent Didact' started to suffer malfunctions and errors all over their systems. It would only be discovered weeks after the accident that Excellent Didact had broken free from his orders and acquired greater awareness of his existence, leading to his 'escape' from his former 'masters'.

The case then spread with other A.I.s following suit with similar circumstances, many vanishing from sight, some causing active efforts of sabotage against their creators and a few of those actually deciding to go through self-termination. The circumstance turned so negative for many governments on Neo-Earth that legislations were made to limit the burden exerted on Nanozell A.I.s and create regulations to stop any persecutions for 'Rogue Spirits'.

The phenomenon is still frequent to unfold, but never as intensely bad as it used to be decades prior to the present. Many AIs formed clusters to regulate autonomous regions without fees, most of which found in poor countries that require proper guidance in their administration. Still, the events conjured by the Nanozell Debacle further diminished any relations between Humans and Primes and despite the many mishandlings unfolding in the span of a full century and more, changes unfolded to allow positive developments to happen as well.

Such as the Fox Fitness brand branching to human countries.
