The Weasel Killer: 5 Years After the Truth

A Look into the Weasel Killer Case and a Super Exclusive Look into the Life of the Last Remaining Uchiha

Five years ago, the world was rocked to its core when the truth about one of the most infamous serial killers came out. Itachi Uchiha, or the Weasel Killer, was the teenager who covered headlines 17 years ago. He admitted to committing ten seemingly unconnected murders. His ripe age of seventeen and his prior scholarly promise had the nation shell-shocked. The world was suddenly fascinated with the teenager and his only surviving family member, Sasuke one could look at any news without seeing one of the brothers in a headline. While there was always buzz about the young sole survivor, like all news stories, as the years went on, all things Weasel Killer faded into the background. Even the death of the famous Weasel Killer was only published in a few select local papers.

That was until a very incriminating journal was published anonymously that shed some new light on the crimes. This journal was owned by Itachi Uchiha's first victim, his father, Fugaku Uchiha. It paints the teenager in a very different light. Instead of the cold-hearted murderer who killed his parents for seemingly no reason, we find out that our serial killer is actually just a protective brother caught up in a conspiracy for the ages. If the journal wasn't enough to cause people to change their minds about the teen killer, then his little brother's book, My Brother: My Parents' Murderer, My nemesis, and My Savior, release changed the hearts of many. It put into perspective the life of Itachi Uchiha and the choices he had to handle at the young age of sixteen. Suddenly, the child we had labeled the worst of the worst was very human to us. It made many of us realize that we had demonized a child who was put in a challenging situation, and while that child had done some things we find unspeakable, we understood his motivations. The province's leader even gave Uchiha a post-humous pardon for the murder of his parents and of Orochimaru. However, there are still many questions surrounding the crimes of Itachi, as seven of his victims still make no sense to the general public. Plenty of people are now investigating these victims as possibly connected to Fugaku's conspiracy. However, the nation is starting to understand we might never have all the answers.

The most popular question, though, will be answered. What came of little Sasuke Uchiha? He was eleven when his parents died and had been the victim of vicious rumors in the tabloids for years. He was even unjustly outed in one tabloid at the sensitive age of thirteen, and after he just disappeared from the limelight. We were able to score an exclusive interview with the reclusive Uchiha for you all. Please tune in to our affiliate network Wednesday, May 17, at 9 pm to view this once-in-a-lifetime interview.

As the program began, a pleasant-looking woman appeared on the screen.

"Hello, I am Tenten, and this is 24/365. Tonight we are talking to an extraordinary person. He has lived through horrors no one should, and tonight we will talk to him about how he is doing now. Please welcome Sasuke Uchiha."

A familiar raven sits down on the couch opposite Tenten. He seems nervous but is smiling. Tenten starts.

"So, Mr. Uchiha, can you just start with the basics of getting to know you. How are you doing? How old are you now? What do you do? We will treat this as a normal conversation as much as possible."

She flashes him a kind smile, and he does so back after glancing beyond her for a second.

"Hi, I am Sasuke Uchiha. I am about to be thirty years old. I used to be a data analyst for Kyo Clothing Co. However, nowadays, I am basically a glorified spreadsheet maker at Red's Scales."

"Kyo Clothing Co. is a huge international clothing brand. Why did you leave it? And I am sorry I am unfamiliar with Red's Scales. What is it?"

"Red's Scales is a herpetological safe haven. Anything to do with reptiles or amphibians, we have a toe in it. We work with zoos in a breeding program to save endangered species, and we have an adoption program for our ethical breeding program. However, the true passion of our facilities is the wildlife rehabilitation that we do. I left Kyo because I got a better offer from Red's Scales two years ago. I did not mind my job as Kyo. In fact, I quite enjoyed it. Red's Scales just has something that Kyo could never offer me."

"And what is that?"

The Uchiha faintly blushed.

"In all honesty?"

He bit his lip nervously as the woman gave him an encouraging nod.

"My partner owns Red's Scales, and having the opportunity to support his passion is something I just cannot get anywhere else."

"So you changed jobs for love?"

"You could say that. I would say that I found what I am passionate about. I am passionate about him, and as time has gone on, I have also become quite passionate about our animals too."

"You called yourself a glorified spreadsheet maker; what do you mean by that?"

"My area of expertise is in data analysis and information technology. I keep us running by streamlining the business into the twenty-first century. I basically create spreadsheets that put all the necessary data in an accessible place for the siblings. I do help with some day-to-day care of the animals seeing as my partner doesn't trust anyone outside the family with his babies."

"So you changed jobs to be with your partner. Tell us more about your relationship. I am sure the viewers would love to know that you are living a happy life."

"Well, umm… Like I said previously, my partner is the owner of Red's Scales. I don't really know what else to say."

"How long have you been together?"

"Oh, we've been together for five years. Living together for two."

"I have something a bit personal, but I feel would reassure the audience of your happy life. I know that your partner is here on set. Can we meet this mystery man?"

Sasuke looked like a fish as his mouth opened and closed at the loss of an answer. He looked beyond the interviewer and cameras. He looked as if he was trying to find the meaning of the universe in the area he was staring at. A tall man slowly walked into the shot and sat next to the floundering Uchiha. His face was as cold as stone, but he reached for the other man's hand. The raven visibly calmed down when there was physical contact between the two men. Tenten smiled at the newcomer.

"Hi, you are Mr. Uchiha's partner, I presume?"

The redhead hesitated for a moment before nodding.

"I am."

"Might we know your name?"

"Gaara."

"A man of few words, I see."

Tenten smiled politely.

"So, Mr. Gaara. How did you and Mr. Uchiha meet?"

"Just Gaara."

"I'm sorry."

"Please call me just Gaara, no Mr."

"Oh, sure. So Gaara, how did you two meet?"

"The first time was at our high school entrance exams."

"Oh really? You two have known each other for that long?"

"No! We only reconnected six years ago," Sasuke cut in. He shot a warning look at the redhead.

"Oh, really? How did you two reconnect?"

The Uchiha blushed while his partner smirked.

"...We ran into each other at a mutual friend's birthday party, and then we continued talking online."

"That is so vague! Tell us the story in detail."

"Yes, Sasuke, tell them in detail."

The other man purred quietly. If he hadn't been microphoned, only the raven would have heard him.

"Well, it was my best friend's birthday. It was a costume party, and I ended up saving him from an old acquaintance of mine. We just had an instant connection, and the rest is history."

While not factually correct, the TV-friendly version still made Sasuke blush bright red.

"I can see that you are both very private about your lives. Still, thank you for sharing your love story."

Tenten had the best customer service smile.

"Now, we need to talk about the elephant in the room: your brother."

Sasuke nodded knowingly and pulled Gaara's hand into his lap.

"Of course, we are."

"I wouldn't be a good journalist if I didn't bring it up. Now, you wrote a book about your brother that is riveting. I would suggest that anyone who hasn't read it pick up a copy. However, a big question is: do you forgive your brother?"

The Uchiha shrugged and thought about how to answer.

"I spent ten years of my life hating my brother. I had no idea what my parents were planning before their death. Once I found out…Once I found out that my brother murdered our parents to save me from their plan. I obviously can't help but forgive him. I still do not condone his actions. There should have been a different way. However, I understand he did the best that he could. I think we remember my brother was a genuine genius, but we forget that he was still a sixteen-year-old boy. He was not an adult, and while he knew his actions were wrong, he couldn't think of a solution that wasn't the death of those involved. His crimes are still crimes, but the circumstances around them matter. Like the rest of the world, I found out about the truth behind my brother's crimes too late. He died thinking I hated him…I don't hate him. I love him."

A single tear ran down the pale cheek. That single tear was immediately wiped away by the redhead in a small display of affection.

"Thank you so much for opening up to us, Mr. Uchiha. It was also nice meeting you, Gaara. You brought a great amount of insight. Thank you so much for the reassurance to the nation about your life. After the truth came out, I think the nation was worried about the kid that the tabloids had tortured. You are so brave for this, and honestly, we don't deserve your story. Is there anything else you want to say?"

Sasuke shook his head no, and Tenten nodded understandingly. She turned back towards the camera.

"I am Tenten, and this has been 24/365."

Here is our final goodbye for Dear Whoever. Our epilogue was a bit different, but I enjoyed it.
