A/N omg I'm so sorry this took so long! Hope you enjoy!

...

Kavar jumped back avoiding the swipe of Stain's sword. Years of fighting low level criminals and villain had given him good reflexes. Good reflexes would not save him from Stain. Stain was hellbent on killing not only him but Hitoshi and Kage too. Only he stood in the way of their deaths.

Mentally he hoped Mei and Izuku called for backup. Even if he and Hitoshi were caught it would be worth it to bring Stain to justice. Likely they would get off with a fairly light sentence for their ages. Maybe they would even be allowed to become official heroes.

Metal going right by his face and barely missing his ear brought him back to the present. No time to daydream. He had to focus. Or he would die here.

Kavar had pulled off his gloves as soon as the fight began. He constantly tried to duck in close aiming for skin on skin contact. The quirk he possessed was Calm it would drain the emotions and energy from anyone he came into physical contact with. This was why he was the shield of their group.

Stain was fast and far smarter than Kavar gave him credit for. He knew that the young vigilante was trying to do something. Something that needed close contact. Unlike what the man's quirk needed.

Kavar was too close to the man. The sword came close to his face causing him to stumble back. If he had been a moment slower the sword would have cut into his face. Likely he would have been blinded by it.

He fell onto his ass stunned for half a second. Only to throw himself to the side as the sword came back around. From there he had to keep moving or risk being maimed or killed. There was no chance for him to regain his feet or fight back. No he was barely keeping himself free of the quirk.

In his ear he heard, "Kavar keeping moving. Izuku is on his way."

Kavar grunted, "I'm trying but I don't know how long I can keep this up. Sword and I are supposed to work together. Shit!"

The sword slammed into the wall beside his head. Again a gut reaction had kept him from dying. How? How was he supposed to survive this?

Kavar was not able to avoid the next attack however. A sharp stinging sensation cut across his cheek. Shit! He jumped to his feet fully intending on tackling Stain when the villain locked the knife he had used to cut the vigilante with. Clenching his jaw he waited for the quirk to affect him. Only nothing happened.

What? His body still allowed him to move and he used his advantage to put plenty of space between them. Turning his head to the side he looked back towards the others.

"Shield," came a familiar shout.

Eraserhead thank the Kazoo God. Shinsou was still stuck where Stain had left him but Eraserhead stood next to him. In his distraction however he did not see Stain preparing to attack him again. Nor did he see Stain pulling the sword free. A flash of steel to his left and a seering pain went across his gut.

Looking down he saw that his jacket had been cut straight through. Across his stomach was a deep cut. This time when he caught the flash he moved. From the follow through using the knife another deep jagged cut went across his cheek barely missing his eye.

Suddenly Eraser was in front of him blocking another attack. The hero snapped, "Get out of here, Shield! You aren't ready for this."

"I won't leave you. And I won't leave Sword!"

"Stubborn," growled Eraser, "Stay back then. You're hurt and you will only get in the way."

Like hell!

With his arm pressed into the gut wound Kavar stood. He would never back down while others were in danger. Even if it meant the risk of bleeding out. With his free hand he drew one of his knives.

Eraserhead growled at seeing it but he didn't get the chance to comment. Stain pushed him away and went into a frenzy. Kavar jumped in to protect the man's side from the sword. For his part the hero blocked the knife with his own.

Once they were free both vigilante and hero were able to get back. They couldn't retreat much further without leaving Shinsou vulnerable. Kavar didn't actively engage Stain instead choosing to protect Eraser when the other would get too close.

In his ear he could hear Mei crying and swearing. She was frustrated that she couldn't be out here with him. Unfortunately for her, their soulbond was strong. She could feel the cut across his abdomen. While adrenaline protected him from the pain she wasn't so lucky.

Unfortunately Stain wasn't stupid. As soon as Eraserhead's quirk deactivated he slammed his boot into the hero's chest. This sent Eraserhead flying back with the crunch of bone. No doubt there were broken ribs. He was not able to focus on this however. He had to keep moving otherwise he would be dead.

As much as he tried to ignore it he was affected by the wound to his gut. It was deep and bleeding a lot. The more time that passed the more lightheaded he became. If Stain didn't kill him in the fight he would die by bloodloss. Kavar almost wished he would die in the fight.

He winced. No he shouldn't die at all. If he died it would bring Mei untold amounts of pain. Broken soulbonds were said to create pain that could not be put on a scale. Many who lost their soulmates died by suicide soon after. He had to live. For Mei. For Izuku. For Shinsou.

Again Stain tried to remove Kavar's head from his shoulders. A quick duck and a hand reaching up to clasp the other's wrist saved him. Only for rage and hatred to enter him like a tidal wave. Stain's face went slack briefly as calm overtook him.

The wave of strength from the emotions came too late. Stain was able to catch some of his blood and once more Kavar's body would no longer obey him. He collapsed onto the hard concrete.

Eyes that were once angry were now cold and dead as they stared down at him. A wash of cold fear ran down his spine. Angry Stain was easier to deal with one who calm and collected. What was he going to do to Kavar?

Eraser tried to intervene but was unsuccessful. Even the activating of his quirk did nothing to improve Kavar's situation. He was still stuck on the ground unable to save himself.

Stain mused aloud, "If you had not interfered you would have been a true hero. However you enable the false heroes little vigilante and thus must be taught a lesson. At first I intended to kill you but that wouldn't be a lesson. No that would have been too quick. No I will give you a lesson that you will carry with you forever."

Eraser was back on his feet but he wasn't fast enough to stop Stain. A scream ripped itself from his throat as he felt the knife cut into his leg just below the knee. It tore through muscle and tendon causing him to scream louder.
