Story:

Years ago, the Crystal Empire was dealing with attacking hippogriffs, when one was hit and fell onto a mysterious grey foal, with a black mane, pointy wavy hair, and green eyes. When the Crystal guards found him, they thought he was dead, until suddenly he sprung to life with no memory, and limited vocabulary. When asked who he was, where he came from, or who his parents were, he would only say one word, "Sombra." So he was taken to the alicorn princess of love, Princess Amore, and she put him in her orphanage, and since it was the only word he could say when asked, and there was something unique about him only she saw, she decided to call him Sombra Blankflank.

-

Sombra was diagnosed with Neonatal Maladjustment Syndrome, and was not reliant on verbal communication. Unfortunately, not only were most of the foals reliant on verbal communication, and the normal ponies would often bully him for being different, for having a healing factor, and for not being a crystal pony. Thankfully, there was one foal who was not afraid of him, and also did not talk much like him. Her name was Radiant Hope. Soon the two became best friends, and played together so often, that Amore decided to make them roommates.

-

In time, time Sombra's vocabulary improved, and he and Hope became fascinated with the seven Grand Alicorn Princes/Princesses. They looked up to them, the alicorn King and his six students, who banished the body of an evil sorceress, who put her family name of the Majesty Dynasty to shame, into a tree. They looked up to the alicorns and wished that they could someday become two, so if Majesty IV, the killer of the first alicorn monarch Queen Parabola and the Little Dreamer's reincarnation Faustcorn, would ever return, they would be ready to fight back.

-

One day, Sombra and Hope looked into the Crystal Heart, a relic used to shield off demon ponies like the umbrum, and is said to see your destiny if you look into it. While Hope saw herself becoming an alicorn, and felt joy, Sombra saw himself becoming a tyrannical monster, and felt fear. Sombra never told Hope what he saw, only revealing that it was scary.

-

Sombra always wanted to go to the Crystal Fair, but every time the day of the fair commenced, he would become sick and Hope would have to look after him, promising that they would go next year. Unfortunately, every year, on the day of the fair, he would get sick and the mysterious illness would only get worse with every fair. One year Sombra's body began to disperse, and almost exploded, until Hope saved his life. Hope, which was an adult blankflank like Sombra was at the time, finally got her cutiemark as a result of saving his life.

-

While her life thrived after getting her cutiemark, becoming the only misfit to do so, Sombra was still being bullied and was being assumed the worst like the other misfits were. Furthermore, he never forgot what he saw in the Crystal Heart, so when he found out that Hope got expected to Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns, he had a panic attack. This would mean that she hope would no longer be living in the Crystal City, the Crystal Empire's capital. So he walks into the outskirts of the capital to find himself. Soon he runs into a red crystal, where a voice claiming to be his mother revealed that he was a demidevil, half-mortal, and half-demon. While revealing that he was the son of an umbrum, she actives his umbrum blood, turning his horn red, turning his eyes red, making his mane move in a wavy flow, giving him canines, and changing his voice. He then encouraged him to spread fear and take over the Crystal Empire.

-

Soon Sombra learned some dark magic spells, and then got together with several groups of misfits, knowing that they were the only ones who were mistreated, and therefore weren't shown enough of the Crystal Empire's method of love. He then encouraged them to start the Crystal Revolution, promising them a world where misfits, whether an IDD (person with a development disability) or someone who generally can't fit in, would never again be discriminated, judged, or forced to conform again, spreading fear to potential bullies and making anyone who bullies be sentenced to slavery. It took a while, but after a few more promises, Sombra finally had enough followers to start the revolution.

-

The Crystal Revolution began, and guards homes were burned, counselors were captured, and Sombra used his healing factor and new spells to overpower the guards. Sombra even stole the Crystal Heart knowing that one more Crystal Fair involving it could kill him. Princess Amore caught him doing this, forcing himself to turn her into a statue, when Hope came and saw what he was doing. Sombra couldn't bare to kill Amore. So using a spell, he shattered her into pieces and had them scattered them throughout the world. Sombra believed that his destiny was to take over and rule the Crystal Empire as the king of monsters, and seeing he had become, Hope ran off claiming that the bullies were right about him, running off crying and calling him a monster.

-

Hope ran to the Grand Alicorn Princess of Equestria, the princess of the day Princess Celestia, and informed her of what Sombra was happening. Celestia felt that they needed the Elements of Harmony, and informed each of the other representatives, the Grand Alicorn Princes/Princesses, and their king, but by the time they could all finally meet up, the revolution was over and successful. Sombra was now the king of the Crystal Empire, and the misfits thrived, the conformist did okay, but if anyone aged seven or older is caught bullying, it was a lifetime of slavery for them. He made it illegal to use the term "Neonatal Maladjustment Syndrome" and replace it with the word "Autism". It was now forbidden to have the Crystal Fair because fear was now deemed a more powerful force than love, and they wanted to keep outsiders out. Sombra even managed to conquer parts of Equestria and parts of other lands, hoping to add more diversity and multiculturalism. Every time Sombra participated in battles, it was almost a guaranteed win because of his streak. Misfits were beginning to be seen as supreme and gifted, while traditional conformists were seen as weak and nobodies. The Empire of Love became the Empire of fear, and punishments for supporting the traditional Empire of Love would be forced to get sick and then banishment, or they would be thrown in the prison for five years and get tortured on and off while inside.

-

Hope and the alicorns snuck into the capital, shocked at what they were seeing. Unfortunately, King Sombra captured their king, and used one of the spells in Majesty IV's Extended Spellbook, which was in a museum before the revolution, to execute him, causing his element to break. Princess Luna managed to successfully use the elements to banish Sombra into the undergrounds of the earth, but Sombra used his magic to take the entire capital with him. Only a handful of people, including Hope and the alicorns, managed to escape this in time. While the stress of the death of the alicorn king was causing the other grand alicorns to break up the alliance due to political differences, Sombra wrote in his diary: "Though I have become the very thing a feared to be, I now feel that it was necessary. The umbrum requested me to free them, now that I have mastered dark magic, but I refuse since I did not feel that it was best for the misfits. At heart, I want to be less cruel and treat non-misfits better, but my reputation and position leave me no choice. I will find a way for us to escape. I will prepare my people for war, and I will one day rise Crystal City, and I hope to one day end bullying by scaring them into behaving my way, and even expanding the empire and establishing interspecies territories and alliances with those who follow. Fear is what controls people, and fear is what me to become the king of monsters. It's too late to go back. It is too late to find my cutiemark, if I can even get one. All I can do is plan and train in the meantime. I hope all the sacrifice was worth it."
