Chapter 62
Charlette and Grace woke up early. They were excited for the girl weekend away. They were grateful they were invited. Jack was so sweet in asking if they would like to join Elizabeth for the weekend away.
"Charlette, are you ready to load up the Tahoe?"
"Grace, we don't have to meet the kids until eight. It's six now."
"Oh…I'm sorry. I'm just really looking forward to this weekend."
"Me too. I already have my bag by the front door." Laughed Charlette.
Both ladies looked around the small apartment of Charlette's looking for something to keep their minds busy.
"It was really sweet Jack calling and asking me to join the group. I hope Elizabeth doesn't mind."
"Oh, Grace. She will love you being there."
"I hope so. I know her sisters and friends are going. I wouldn't think she would want her mother tagging along."
"Or her mother-in-law."
"She loves you, Charlette. I think it's wonderful she calls you mom."
"Me too. Grace, you raised a very special young lady."
"So, tell me about Adam."
Charlette giggled like a teenager when she began telling the story.
…
Jack and Elizabeth laid in bed. Elizabeth had tossed and turned most of the night. She did not get much sleep with her mind running on overdrive. Both were awake but neither knew it. She was on her left side and Jack was behind her with his right hand resting on her side. He did not have her pulled to him like normal.
"Elizabeth" He began but stopped when he noticed she jumped a little. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. I didn't know you were awake."
"That's ok, Jack."
"I just wanted to get you up so you can start to get ready and then pack your bathroom stuff. You can't be late to the café."
"Jack, I don't think I want to go."
"Why not?" He asked.
She didn't respond.
"You will have a great time with everyone. Plus, it's four days with your family and friends. Alice will be there along with Beth. Your sisters are going along with your mom and mother. Abagail is going too."
"How did mother know about this?"
"I called her, and she wanted to go. I thought you would enjoy this time with everyone. You all can plan the trip together on your way."
"I don't want to go."
Jack nodded. He knew she would love the trip, but she wasn't wanting to go because of the disagreement from last night.
"It's ok, Elizabeth. We are good."
"But that's it Jack…I don't want just good."
"Elizabeth, it's ok. We're good. Go and have a great weekend."
"Jack, you're not listening to me!"
Jack sighed. He wasn't up for another disagreement. He didn't have it in him. As much as he wanted Elizabeth to enjoy her time with her friends and family, the truth of the matter was that he was going to miss her. They haven't been apart from each other since they were married. Now, she will be gone for four days.
"Elizabeth, you will be leaving for four days. I am going to miss you. This is the first time we will be apart since we were married. Do we really have to spend the last hour and a half together fighting?"
"Jack, you need to listen to me." She stopped when she saw his defeated posture. His shoulders were slumped, and his head was looking downward. She stood up and walked around the bed to his side. She reached down and took his hands into her hands and pulled him up. He was standing in front of her with only a few inches between them. "Thomas Jack Thorton, I failed you and I am so sorry for taking you for granted. I am not perfect, but I will promise to do better. I have learned my lesson and I will be grateful for everything you do for me because I know it comes from your heart."
Jack looked into his wife's eyes. He saw love and regret. He knew she was upset from last night and he knew she loved him. He heard her words, but he was a little skeptical that things would truly change.
"I know what you are thinking, Jack. This is a lesson that I have learned, and I will never forget."
He smiled at her, not a great smile but a smile. He leaned in and kissed the tip of her nose. "I love you."
She smiled at his gesture. She has always loved that intimate act. It touched her to her soul.
"Now, you really do need to get ready. We need to leave shortly."
"Jack, I don't think I want to go."
"Elizabeth, everyone is expecting you. This is a celebration of your school year. You mother flew in, and everyone is packed. They are excited to spend so much time with you. You will have a great time."
"Jack, I don't want to leave you, especially after last night."
"Elizabeth, that wasn't our first disagreement."
She looked at him confused. "Jack, how can you say that?"
"Did you forget our first meeting? I wasn't happy with you, and you were not happy with me."
She laughed at the memory. "I really wasn't happy with you."
"I know and I wasn't happy with you too. You were so mean to me."
She patted him on his chest, "True, but you won me over rather quickly as I remember."
He laughed. "I think you won me over too."
He kissed her gently on the lips. She pulled him closer. "I've always heard the best part of arguing is making up after."
"Well, that will have to wait. You need to shower and finish packing your bathroom stuff. I'll start some coffee for us."
She pouted but realized the time. She really did have to get ready and finished packing. "Will you stay with me and tell me about Baxton? I have never been there."
For the next thirty minutes, Jack made them coffee and sat on the vanity in the bathroom telling her about Baxton and reading some of the brochures to her. She was beginning to get excited about the trip but wasn't looking forward to being away from Jack. Both could feel the tension was going away slowly. The morning was beginning to feel like a normal morning for them.
"Elizabeth, you don't want your coffee?"
"No. It doesn't smell good to me."
"It smells like normal. I made it like I always do."
"I know, it just doesn't smell good."
As he loaded her two bags into his truck, she asked, "So, Detective Thorton, what are your plans since I will be away for four days?"
"Well, I am calling Emma today to officially offer her the job. Tomorrow Frank, Henry, and I will drive down to watch a baseball game. The Triple A team is playing about forty five minutes away. Frank and Henry will love that. Other than that, I am not sure. I will figure something out."
…
"Come on Julie. You need to get going or you will be late."
"I'm coming."
"No you're not sweetheart. The car is in the other direction. You are walking to the bedroom."
"Shush you. I am getting one more thing, then I will be ready to leave."
"Dear, you said that ten minutes ago. We really do need to leave."
"See, I'm coming." She rolled her eyes at her husband.
Tom just sighed as he finally saw her walking in the correct direction toward the car. He took her two bags and carried them toward the door.
"Oh…just one more thing." Julie stated as she stopped walking.
"No!" Tom took her by her arm. "We are leaving now. You will only be gone for four days; you can live without it for four days." They both huffed as he escorted her to the car.
Once inside the car, he looked over at her and gave her a smile. "I love you, Jules."
"I love you. I can't believe I will not see you for four days. We were just married a couple of weeks ago."
"I thought you would have been excited to get away from me for a few days."
"Never." She smirked.
"I hope you have fun."
"We will."
…
When Jack and Elizabeth arrived at the café, everyone was already sitting in the corner of the café. Tom and Julie, Victor and Alice, Adam and Charlette, Viola and Grace, Henry, Frank and Abagail, and Beth were all lost in discussion and laughing.
Grace stopped talking and stood when she noticed Elizabeth. She stepped away from the table and gave her middle child a hug.
"I have missed you so much."
"Mother, I saw you a couple of weeks ago at Julie's wedding."
"Alright Ms. Sass." Elizabeth laughed at her mother using one of Charlette's phrases.
"You have been hanging around mom too long." Both ladies erupted in laughter.
Alice stood and gave her a hug. "Mrs. Thorton, thank you for inviting me to go along with you all. That means a lot to me."
"Jack was the one who arranged this but thank you for coming with us. We will have a blast."
"That husband of yours is always thinking of ways to love you."
The words stung a little. Her and Jack were back in a good place, but it was a reminder of her actions over the last couple of days.
Beth stood and gave her a hug and a sympathetic look.
Elizabeth leaned in and whispered in her ear. "We're good." And gave her a small smile.
Beth nodded to let Elizabeth know she understood.
Elizabeth made her way around the table hugging everyone, including the men. She was happy she had so many people in her life that was there for her. When she finally made her way to Abagail, she asked if they could walk to her office for a minute. Abagail nodded and raised her arm to invite Elizabeth to go first.
When Abagail turned to face Elizabeth after closing the door, Elizabeth had a tear in her eye. "Thank you" She tried to say but couldn't get the words our very well. Abagail hugged her and drew her into a tight hug.
"It's ok, Elizabeth."
Through tears, "I'm sorry I forgot our plans."
"Elizabeth, it's ok."
"No, Abagail. It isn't ok. I shouldn't have done it. To be honest, I didn't know I was until you called me out on it. Thank you."
Elizabeth released the hug but kept her arms on Abagail's shoulders. She explained the conversation she had with Jack.
"So, you two are good?"
"For the most part, yes."
Abagail looked confused. "For the most part?"
"I don't think I will ever forget his facial expression when he settled in his mind that our marriage was going to be just average. He sat outside in his truck for ten minutes before he came in the house."
"He was trying to get his thoughts together." Abagail offered.
"No, he didn't want to come home. His greatest desire in a marriage was always wanting to come home to his wife. I will…" She broke down crying. Through her sobs, "never forget that. And I will never allow that to happen again."
Abagail laughed at her best friend who turned into a younger sister.
A little frustrated, Elizabeth asked, "What's so funny?"
"You!" She laughed again. "Elizabeth, you are so strong and strong willed. I have no doubts that you will keep that promise. Plus…you are stubborn enough to do it!" After a moment of silence, both ladies busted out laughing.
"It was a mistake, Elizabeth. Use it to learn and improve from, but do not live in that moment."
"Thanks sis. I love you."
While Elizabeth did not like to be called out like Abagail did the previous night, she was thankful she had a best friend and sister who called her out when she needed it. Over the course of their three year friendship, each one has called the other out numerous times. Their relationship was built on love and respect for each other.
"I love you. Now, let's go eat breakfast, we have a great weekend planned for us."
As Abagail reached for the doorknob, Elizabeth spoke. "My butt really isn't boney, is it?"
…
The breakfast was great. The large crowd was boisterous, but not too loud to be obnoxious. The conversations flowed easily within the group. The ladies were excited about the possibilities of the long weekend, and they were talking about things they could do. The large group with several tables pushed together were a family.
Jack glanced over at his wife and noticed Elizabeth smiling. He caught her attention and she smiled. He returned her smile. Without a word, they had an entire conversation. They knew they were going to be ok. Jack tapped his watch, signaling that the group needed to leave soon. She gave him a pouty face. She really was not looking forward to leaving him for a few days.
She stood and took his hand. "Follow me."
Jack smiled and stood without hesitation. With an agreeing smile from Abagail, Elizabeth escorted Jack to Abagail's office. When she closed the door, she walked into Jack's space. She placed her hands behind his head and began to play with the hair on the back of his head.
"Jack, thank you for this weekend with my family and friends. That was very kind of you to think of it and plan it. You went above and beyond what you should have done."
"You're welcome. You deserve it! You are such a great teacher, and you need to be recognized for your efforts. You love those kids with everything in you."
"I'm going to miss you." She pouted. "This is the first time we will be away from each other since we've been married."
"Yeah," He breathed out as he picked her up and sat her on Abagail's desk and moved to stand between her legs. She gasped at his actions. "I don't know what I was thinking planning this long weekend away."
Elizabeth fingered his hair between her fingers. "You can come with us." She seductively stated.
"I wish I could, but this is a weekend for you, your family, and your friends. I hope you have a great time together."
"I will. I will be missing you and thinking of you."
"Me too." With that statement, he leaned in and kissed her with passion. That was the first passionate kiss since yesterday morning. Elizabeth was glad she was sitting. She didn't think her legs would be strong enough to keep her standing.
"Let's go home Jack." She breathed out when he leaned back from the kiss. She wrapped her legs around Jack's waist to pull him closer and crashed her lips to his. She felt him shutter and smiled knowing she had this power over him. The fire he lit yesterday morning was rekindled immediately and it was beginning to blaze out of control. After a few moments, they both gasped for air. They rested their foreheads together and breathed in each other's air.
"Jack…"
"Elizabeth…"
They stated at the same time. They laughed at the predicament they were in. They were both turned on and desiring each other. It had been a few days since they shared an intimate moment. They were in Abagail's office, and Elizabeth was set to leave in a couple of minutes.
"I better get you outside to the group before we get ourselves in a lot of trouble."
"Jack…I don't want to leave you. I want you." With that statement, she gave him another toe tingling kiss. Before the kiss was finished, they heard a knock on the door. "Let's go Lizbe."
Elizabeth let out a long, slow breath. "Vi has always ruined my fun."
"I'll be there in a moment." She stated toward the door.
Elizabeth turned her attention back to Jack and gave him a 'I'm sorry' look.
He kissed the tip of her nose, "Let's go Nani, you have a fun weekend waiting for you."
She smiled at his nickname. That was the first time he called her by a nickname since the argument.
"Me and you." Elizabeth stated.
"Me and you." Jack said.
…
The women were in the Tahoe for about thirty minutes. The talk finally died down from all of the excitement of beginning the adventure. Charlette was driving and following the directions on the GPS.
Alice looked at Elizabeth and gave her a smile. "Thank you for including me in this trip. It is very nice of you."
"Thank you for coming with us. I hope you are having a good time?"
"I am."
Elizabeth nodded. Since her and Jack made up, Elizabeth was becoming her normal self. She hated arguing with Jack as much as he did. She thought she did a good job of covering her emotions, but the problem is that she was with her closest friends and family. They knew her well.
"So, is everything ok?" Asked Grace.
Elizabeth nodded. Grace and Charlette were in the front seats. Abagail, Elizabeth, and Beth were in the middle row. Julie, Vi, and Alice were in the back seats. The Tahoe was quiet for a moment. "Well, it is now." Elizabeth finally offered.
"Ok dear, we are about to enjoy a great four day weekend that your husband planned for us all. Spill so we can all enjoy our time together." Grace stated in a mother's tone filled with sympathy.
Elizabeth took a deep breath and shared everything. She was completely honest with everything and didn't hold anything back. After all, these people were her family, and she knew they loved her and wouldn't judge her.
"Well dear, welcome to the club. We all have been where you are."
"Really, Beth?"
"Oh Elizabeth, of course we have."
Everyone in the Tahoe nodded their heads in agreement.
"You remember when I told you about Victor and I?"
"Yes." Elizabeth softly stated.
"Tom and I had that discussion just before our wedding. I was so wrapped up in planning that I wasn't paying attention to the things he was doing."
"Really?"
"Oh yes. I didn't realize I was doing it and then one night he didn't do something that he always did for me. I exploded on him that he didn't love me anymore." Julie chuckled at the memory.
"Oh dear, we don't have time for me to tell you all the times I took your father for granted or when he took me for granted."
Charlette smiled and agreed. "The same with Tom and me. It's easy to do even if you aren't trying."
Elizabeth was shocked at everyone's statements. She thought she was the only one in the vehicle that made that mistake.
"Sweetheart, we have all taken someone for granted and have been taken for granted. Life happens and sometimes swallows us. They key is to learn from our mistakes and place guards up, so we don't do it again."
"Thanks Beth."
"When I realized I was taking Victor for granted, I apologized and learned what I did to do that. I was too busy receiving all of his affection without giving any love back to him. I made an effort to show him how much I loved him and appreciated him. The funny thing is, the more I showed him how much I was grateful, the more he did for me."
Elizabeth smiled at her friend. "Thank you, Alice."
"You're new into this, you will learn."
"Lizzy, did you and Jack talk this through?"
"We talked about it last night, and again this morning. We didn't work through it fully last night, but we set the foundation to. This morning after talking about it more, I believe we are in a good place again."
"That's great."
"Yeah, but I will never forget the look on his face when he thought I was settling for a mediocre marriage or the fact that he sat in his car for ten minutes because he didn't want to come inside." A new tear formed in her left eye but did not fall.
"Oh, I know that feeling. I was ungrateful toward Tom when he was doing his best. He couldn't control the situation, but I blamed him anyways. He sat in the garage in his truck for fifteen minutes. It broke my heart because I knew he always loved coming home." Charlette's tears started to fall. "I promised myself I would never make him sit in the car like that again."
"Did you?"
"We had our disagreements, but he didn't sit in his truck avoiding our home ever again."
"So…there's hope for me?"
Every lady laughed and nodded their heads with purpose.
"I promise!" Everyone said at the same time.
The conversation made Elizabeth feel normal again. Yes, she made a mistake of taking Jack for granted. However, that blunder was fixable and preventable. It wasn't the terminal mistake she thought it was. The weight of everything lifted and her mood changed.
…
"Charlette, do you know where you are going?" Asked Grace.
"No, I do not, but this thing is supposed to." She stated as she pointed to the onboard GPS in the dash.
"It says we are one minute away from the cabin, but I don't see anything but trees." Mentioned Grace.
"Yes. I think Jack is sending us on a wild goose chase." Laughed Charlette.
"Here…turn here…Charlette. This must be the driveway.
Charlette slammed on the breaks. As she turned her head to back up, she smiled at Grace. "Dear, maybe you should have said something before I got to the turn off." She smirked.
"You sound like William." She laughed along with the other ladies.
After going about one hundred feet on the driveway, the road turned a sharp right and the trees opened to a beautiful log cabin. It was three stories with the most beautiful and immaculate grounds surrounding it. They couldn't see the whole view because of the house, but they could see the tops of the mountains standing above it. All the women gasped at the sight before them. Charlette had stopped driving because of the beauty.
"Is this our cabin?" Asked Julie.
"The paperwork Jack texted me said the cabin's name is The Heavenly View."
"Well, Elizabeth, the plaque by the front doors has The Heavenly View on it. This must be it." Grace said in awe.
"Elizabeth, that husband of yours went above and beyond anything I could have imagined." Beth said while looking at the house in amazement.
"This is absolutely beautiful." Stated Vi. "How did he find this?"
"I'm not sure." Elizabeth said straining to look out of the windshield. "But he is picking everything out for our future vacations." All the ladies laughed at her statement.
Charlette shook her head and began to drive the last two hundred feet to the front of the house. As she parked the Tahoe, the front door opened with a middle aged man and woman walked out.
"Good afternoon, ladies." The older man said as the women started to pile out of the car. "My name is Jack Matthews. This is my wife, Martha. Welcome to our little piece of heaven."
"I believe you are correct sir." Grace stated.
"Now, one of you must be Mrs. Thorton?" Jack asked.
Elizabeth stepped up. "Well, there are two Mrs. Thortons. My husband was the one who made the reservations."
"You're Elizabeth? Jack's Elizabeth?" Martha asked.
"Yes ma'am. I married Jack about a couple of months ago." Answered a confused Elizabeth. It was then that she noticed tears streaming down Martha's face.
Martha hesitated for only a moment before she stepped forward and gave Elizabeth a deep, long hug. Martha wasn't even trying to hide her tears. Jack looked on with a small smile. You will have to forgive my precious wife.
After the hug, Elizabeth looked at Jack and then back to Martha. "Do you know Jack?"
Martha nodded slightly. Jack spoke. "Yes, we have known him for about three years. Elizabeth thought she saw an unshed tear in his eyes.
"How do you know him?"
"Oh…I think this is supposed to be your celebratory weekend. I don't want to bore you with an old story." Jack gave her a soft smile.
Martha had composed herself enough to speak. "Oh dear, your husband is precious and so sweet." Martha stated. "I have spoken with him over the phone a couple of times. He stated that you are a fifth grade teacher and your school year just finished up."
"Yes ma'am."
"He wanted to give you all a great weekend to celebrate." She gave the group a huge smile. "Everything he has asked for is in the house. There is a pamphlet on the island in the kitchen with all the amenities the house has and some local restaurants and grocery stores along with the Wi-Fi password. You are about a fifteen minute drive from Baxton.
"Now, here is the passcode for the front door. That passcode unlocks every door in the house. We will get out of your way so you can enjoy your weekend. If you have any issues, our phone number is in the pamphlet. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any issues or questions." Jack Matthews smiled.
"Have a great stay." Martha added. Before walking to their car, she embraced Elizabeth in the same type of hug as before. "Elizabeth, if you need anything, and I mean anything, please call us. We owe Jack everything!"
"Let's go, Martha. We need to leave Elizabeth and her group to their weekend." He offered everyone a smile and then hugged Elizabeth. He gave Elizabeth a look of gratitude after the hug.
When Jack and Martha walked away, Elizabeth looked around and noticed a few of the ladies looked like they had tears in their eyes. "I wonder how they know Jack?"
"I'm not sure, dear." Grace stated. "I know there must be a story there."
"Yes. I need to ask Jack."
…
The ladies just stood in front of the log cabin and admired it for a few minutes before stepping on the front porch. Everyone had their phones out taking pictures of the house, the grounds, and the views.
Everyone waited for Elizabeth to enter the pass code. As they walked into the cabin, the ladies all gasped as they walked in. The place was breath takingly gorgeous.
The ceilings were all log and ten foot tall. A beautiful chandelier was in front of a large gas fireplace with three couches framing that seating area. The whole first floor was an open concept. The living room flowed into a large dining room to their left that had a beautiful, antique wood planked table that sat twenty people. The den flowed into the largest kitchen any of them have ever seen. The island had a marble top and ran about three quarters of the kitchen. All appliances were stainless steel. There was a six eye stove with a twenty four inch griddle on the left side.
Everyone slowly walked around the first floor admiring the home. Julie opened the French doors just off the kitchen to a huge patio that had a table that sat twelve people. There was a large gas grill in the corner with a sink beside it and prep area. There was a large hot tub on the right side with a perfect view of the mountains they only saw the top of when they drove down the driveway. The back yard was mostly a lake that looked very clear. Again, each lady gasped when they walked out on the patio. The back yard went about one hundred and fifty yards before the tree line began. They could hear running water but couldn't see it.
Elizabeth looked up and noticed that each floor had the same size deck. She could only imagine the beauty those views held.
The second floor had four bedrooms. With two full bathrooms. There was one large room that had all the games. There was a pool table, a foosball table, a Ms. Packman video game, a ping pong table, and a dart board. The game room had two French doors that lead out to the patio. Again, there was a large hot tub in the corner with great views. The house was built to entertain several people.
The third floor consisted of three full bathrooms with four bedrooms. The master bedroom had its own full bathroom with French doors to the balcony. There was a set of French doors at the end of the hallway that also led out to the balcony, The woman decided that Elizabeth needed the master bedroom since it was her gift from Jack. The master bedroom had a king size bed with matching side tables and a matching dresser.
The art that adorned the entire house was a perfect match to the log cabin. The place had a rustic feel but contemporary. Everyone was very impressed and couldn't believe this was their place for the next four days.
Everyone picked out their rooms and placed their suitcases in their beds. After about fifteen minutes, they all congregated to the kitchen. Vi opened the refrigerator door and notice there were drinks and a little food in it. She turned to Elizabeth and asked about the food.
"I have no idea Vi. I didn't even know where we were going. I'm just as shocked as you are."
Julie picked up an envelope that was placed beside the information pamphlet. "Here sister. This has your name on it."
"My name?" Questioned Elizabeth.
She opened the envelope and saw a typed letter.
My Dearest Elizabeth –
I hope the house is everything you could ever want it to be. Congratulations on a great year of school. You make a difference in the kid's lives, more than you could ever know.
The Matthews has placed some food and drinks in the fridge for you all and some groceries are in the pantry beside the fridge. It's not a lot but should last until you can order some groceries for delivery.
Have fun with everyone. Enjoy yourself. Relax. And have a great weekend.
Your loving husband
Thomas Jack Thorton
Along with everyone else, Elizabeth's heart melted at Jack's thoughtfulness.
…
Jack walked into his office at the department. He was a little emotionally tired from the disagreement the night before and this morning. He was also physically tired. He didn't sleep much. He didn't like being at odds with Elizabeth. His world was in chaos, and he didn't like it.
He sipped on his coffee while looking over the salary and benefits for his assistant position. He finally got the final salary package from personnel and wanted to call Emma.
"Good morning, State's Investigator's Office, Emma Walkins speaking, how may I direct your call?"
"Good morning, Emma. It's Jack Thorton."
"Hey Jack!" She said enthusiastically. While Jack wasn't always in the office, he would be every other week or so. They had a good friendship and Steve, her husband, liked him too. "How are you doing?"
"I'm doing well."
"Married life treating you well?"
"Yes. Hey, I was calling about the assistant job. Do you have a few minutes to talk about it?"
"Sure Jack. What do you have for me?"
Jack shared with Emma the salary package and potential homes for rent and for sale. Jack communicated about the town and all of its activities. Other than him, there are two officers, and the department will be hiring a new person within a couple of months. Jack made it clear that she would be working with him directly. She would be his assistant and he shared with her the things he was hoping for in an assistant.
Emma smiled during the whole description. She was excited about the potential move. Steve was happy about a change. He worked from his home office, and he was ready to move out of Oklahoma City. He wanted a smaller town atmosphere. Emma was the same. The receptionist of a whole floor of people was getting old.
She always had a good working relationship with Jack. They worked well together and liked each other as friends. Jack even liked her when she was trying to set him up with one of her friends. She knew she could work with him. She just needed to know the job's details.
After listening to Jack, she smiled. The job's salary was comparable to the one she had now. The benefits were better than what she has now. The job's required skill set was perfect for her. She knew it would be a busy job, but a job with just one person to look after instead of several people.
She texted Steve when Jack was describing the job and he was happy with the money and everything else. When Jack finished his prepared sales speech, he asked. "Well, take a few days and talk all this over with Steve and then let me know. How does that sound?"
"Jack, I'll take the job. When do you want me there?"
