'Oh my goodness Hazel what do i wear?'

Hazel laughed as she shook her head at her friend, eyes scanning over her figure.

'You look gorgeous in that!'

Annabeth sighed and turned to face the mirror, analysing herself. She was dressed in a pretty red dress, that clung to her curves and trailed across the floor slightly.

'You've said that about every one!'

Hazel straightened her own dress and shoved her friends shoulder gently.

'Thats because all of them looked great! Besides, you know Percy would think you looked good no matter what.'

Annabeth frowned defeatedly and collapsed onto the bench placed in the fitting room.

'But thats the problem! I don't want him to think i look good, i want him to think i look amazing!'

Hazel smiled softly and perched next to her friend, placing a reassuring arm over her shoulder.

'You will look amazing. Cmon, you're Annabeth Chase for gods sake. We're gonna find your perfect dress, okay?'

The pair were currently hidden out in a small boutique style dress shop on the outskirts of town. The lovely owner had agreed to let the girls in after hours to avoid the fans and Annabeth could not be more grateful. The last thing she needs right now is to have a bunch of fans watching her have a breakdown over some stupid dress.

'Do you mind if i chime in?'

Annabeth's eyes shot over towards where the owner was watching on fondly, small smile on her face.

'Oh my god please!'

The owner, Silena, pushed herself off the counter and sauntered over towards the girls, tapping her chin in thought.

'Personally, my favourite so far is the one you are wearing, but i have one in the back which i think would be perfect for you! I can grab it if you'd like?'

Annabeth smiled at the girl.

'You're a star. Yes please.'

Hazel laughed as Silena nodded and headed further into the shop.

'I figured you would be good at this stuff, i see pictures of you all the time in dresses for red carpets.'

Annabeth groaned and shook her head.

'I rarely ever get to chose though, i just wear whatever my mom chooses for me. Remind me to tell her i love her when i see her for never making me do it myself before!'

Hazel laughed and patted her friend sympathetically.

'There there.'

Annabeth made muffled sounds of pain into her lap until Silena returned.

'Okay my beauties, what do you think?'

Annabeth heard Hazel gasp slightly and as she rose her head to see what had shocked her, she found her own breath catching in awe.

A floor length blue dress hung delicately in-front of her, the bottom draping ever so slightly on the floor. It sparkled under the light of the shop, and she could see Silena's proud smirk out the corner of her eye.

Annabeth turned to face the older girl with a look of admiration plastered on her face.

'You are a miracle worker. Can i try it on?'

She hummed to herself as she glanced at the horses, who were currently observing the girl above them. Her legs dangled down into their stables from where she was perched above, and they nudged her affectionally as she cooed at them. She tapped a small tune on her knee and grinned to herself, eagerly writing down on her notepad as the ideas flooded in.

The idea of going to her first ever dance had inspired Annabeth and she was eager to write at least one more song to add to her album.

Not to mention, she was going with Percy.

Percy Jackson, who was probably the most attractive man she had ever met and honestly so much fun to be around. It seemed to go to be true, and her mind fluttered back to her past relationship.

'Stop it.' She told herself. 'Forget about him.'

Despite her external words, she couldn't help but think about how bad her last relationship went. She was so excited about Percy, but she worried that getting her hopes up would only leave her damaged again in the end. And she wasn't sure if she could go through it again.

'Stop it!' She told herself more harshly. 'He hurt you. Don't waste time being sad about someone who clearly didn't care. Get mad!'

She sighed, and began to write.

heres the thing, we started out friends,

It was cool but it was all pretend,

Yeah yeah, since you been gone,

She screamed as something touched her foot.

A laugh erupted from below her as she quickly composed herself and glanced down to see the boy currently tormenting her thoughts.

Percy was bent over with laughter and she could help the smile that escaped as she looked down at him.

'What was that for!' She demanded, tone giving away that she wasn't actually mad.

He grinned up at her, hands raised in surrender.

'I didn't realise you were so jumpy!' He replied, 'Dinner is ready, i was sent to come get you.'

She rolled her eyes at him and hopped down, landing not so gracefully next to him.

'You're lucky I'm hungry or I would've beaten you up.'

He grinned back at her and let out a sarcastic sigh, 'Phew! Wouldn't want that would we?'

She ignored his laughter as she pushed past him, shaking her head in pretend annoyance as she stomped to the house.

'The song sounded good by the way!' He yelled after her, to which she spun round and stuck her tongue out at him, causing him to laugh once more.

This boy.
