Under Wing

It rains in Hell. In the fiery pits of Hell, it still rains. Not to question how the realms of the dead worked, Stolas had long since become used to the weather of the damned. Here now, he stood outside of his home. Having returned from the Full Moon Harvest in Wrath, he was ready to call the day over, yet... yet it was not.

Sleeping soundly, there was a child. A human child. Stolas looked down curiously at the human child lying on the cobblestone of the demon realm. Wrath was no place for such a creature, and yet… he found himself oddly drawn to her. She lay unconscious outside of the steps of his home. Naturally, he should kill it, or at the absolute least, open a hole to the human realm and toss it back. He should. He knew he should. Oh, but she was so small, no older than his precious little Via...how could he possibly turn her away. He wondered if a family was out there looking for their precious little daughter. If it were his Via, he'd turn the universe inside out to find her... but this one, she was in Hell. No mortal could cross the threshold of Hell. Not alive, at least. So then... how was this one here?

Stolas's shadow reached out and across the pavement. It covered her like that of a blanket, yet she still shivered in the rain. Right, it was raining still. Still raining. Stolas turned his eyes up at the darkened sky, clouds were heavy above him, and they promised days worth of rain. Stepping up to the small creature, the little human, he took in her complexion. Was that a normal shade for a human? She looked as white as a ghost. Not able to look away, not willing to turn the other cheek, he knelt and lifted her into his feathered arms.

"...lets...get you inside, little one."

Lying in front of the fireplace, there was only silence in the comfort of the fires surrounding warmth. A towel in his hands was being used to dry the sleeping girl's hair. Another towel was wrapped around her small body in hopes of warming her up some.

"Master Stolas, should I prepare something for her to eat?" The impish servant across from him eyed the child-creature in his arms curiously.

"She is sleeping, though, Xol. I wouldn't wish to wake her from her dreams yet."

"I understand, Master, but she appears unwell."

Stolas glanced up at the Imp. "You can tell she's not doing well?" He looked back down at the little one. She really was pale. Was it not normal for humans?

Xol looked up at his Master, his eyes wide in surprise from the amount of worry he saw in the Demon Prince. "If I were to wager a guess, Master, I'd say she's sick."

"Sick!? Goodness... and what shall I do?"

"...take her to Lucifer?" Xol cowered at the reddening eyes of his Master. "I say this only out of concern for your new pet, Master!"

'Pet?' He looked back and forth between his servant and the child. Is that what it looked like to this Imp?

Standing, he moved across the living room, looking around at his home, turning back to his servant. A lot was going on in his head, and all he could key in on was... there was a small child that needed help. He could help. "Gather my coat. I'm going out."

The Imp ran out of the living room to grab the long trench coat hanging by the door. It was still wet from earlier. Running back from the entry, he held the coat out, and Stolas waved his hand, slipping his hands into the sleeves as he made his way from his home. It was going to be a sudden visit on his part, but at least he could trust Lucifer would see him.

In the late hours of the night, Lilith was lying in bed with their daughter curled up in her arms. Lucifer stared outside as he watched the rainfall. The idea of a quiet family life in the demon world; what a fucking...laugh. Tilting his head, he gave his attention to an ominous figure stepping out of a portal outside of his gates. "Lilith, love."

"Hm?"

"We have a guest."

She turned her head to face him, though she didn't make any move to get up. "Who?"

"...Stolas."

She chuckled under her breath and curled in closer to her daughters' small form. "That's all you, darling."

Rolling his eyes, he left their bedroom and made his way to his office. He would take this meeting as he'd done all the others, with a grain of salt and some of Baphomet's strongest Inferno Liqure known to the damned. Tossing his robe to the couch, he barely glanced up as Stolas walked in after one of the little demons, was it Razzle or Dazzle, led the Owl Demon inside.

"Paying me a trip at this time of night, Stolas? Praytell, my friend, to what does Pride ring owe the honor?" Pouring two small glasses of the warm liquid, he paused when Stolas didn't reply. That was strange for his talkative friend. He almost always had a glib comment or joke on hand to toss around on command. Giving Stolas his undivided attention, his eyes widened when the feathered demon pulled his arm away to reveal a young girl in his other arm. Not just any girl... "...a human." Lucifer moved in closer to examine the child. "She's dying... why is she not dead yet? How did she get into Hell?!"

Stolas shook his head, "I'm not sure. I found her unconscious outside of my home,"

Lucifer began pacing. If there was a rift in the human world leading to Hell... that wasn't good. Heh, but neither was that his problem. Except, it was. Humans could still harm his demons. "Put her down; I'll have her taken care of. Though, why you couldn't have dealt with one measly little— Stolas?" His voice dropped at the look on his friend's face. Moving to his door, he closed it and locked it. Making sure no one would accidentally walk in on them, he stepped in front of Stolas. "Stolas, she's not a pet. You can't just feed her and comb her hair."

"I came here to ask for your help, Lulu."

Blushing at the absurd nickname, Lucifer dropped his head for a moment as he considered his next step. He wasn't going to disappoint one of the only demons in Hell he considered a friend and a bearable one at that. Teetering back and forth on what exactly his choices were, he finally moved across his office to his desk. Sitting down, he pulled open a drawer and a key. "You know if she stays here...if she dies here... she'll never be welcomed up in heaven. The only ways I can help her survive Hell are ways that would tarnish her soul. Do you still intend on keeping her?"

"Acting the part of an Angel now, Lulu?"

Shaking his head, he smirked, "of course not, just making sure you were prepared for the blowback you are sure to receive when Stella finds out." He unlocked another drawer of his desk, pulling from it a small vial. "I'm sure it'll taste disgusting to a little girl, but make sure she drinks it all."

"What is it?" Eyeing the crimson red liquid that glowed ominously in the small glass vile.

"It's the blood of a Fallen Angel," Lucifer retorted irritably. The fact that he was handing something so valuable over to a human had his stomach twisting in knots. He thought he was going to be sick. "This will help her adapt. It's slow-acting, but the initial drink will at least give her a boost right now to keep her from keeling over. Sounds great, right?" Lucifer tossed the vile to Stolas, who caught it with ease, "gets even better. You will need to feed her."

"Well, of course, Lulu. I'm not a complete fool."

"I'm glad that you at least acknowledge the fact that you are a fool. Not a complete one, but a partial fool. I'm not talking about the stuff we eat. That's fine too, if she can stomach it. Not my problem. I meant "feed her" by giving her small doses of your energy to keep her acclimating to her environment. Listen to me, Stolas. There is a reason humans are not walking among us willy-nilly. Hell is a place for the dead. Even demons born from Hell are considered dead. They are evil dead. Nothing alive survives down here for long. This place will try to devour her...eat away at her energy in a way that goes unnoticeable to you at first. It won't be until she's lying in a coma on the ground, fading from your fingertips, that you realize you're too late. You know, worst-case scenario." He added at the look of terror on Stolas's face. "You must take care of her living body, Stolas. You understand, right?"

Stolas gave a small nod, popping the cap of the vile off; he carefully adjusted the girl in his arms.

Stepping over to both him and the child, Lucifer lifted his hands to pry the tiny girl's mouth open. She was cold to the touch, but his eyes could see the soul burning within her. The life still thriving in Hell. Watching as the glowing red essence was poured into her mouth, she moved a bit, but he locked her in place. Tilting her head a bit to help her swallow all of the liquid. A whimper sounded in the room, her body shimmered red for a brief moment, and then...it faded. Yet, with the fading of the red energy he'd bestowed on her, a warm, healthy glow returned to her cheeks as he could see that boost of energy acting fast. "Stolas?"

Stolas looked down at Lucifer.

"If you need help, you know you can come to me. I'm...involved in this now too."

"Thank you, Lulu." Clearing his throat of the emotions he was feeling, Stolas pulled the girl in closer to his chest as his wings wrapped protectively around her. "I will let you return to your night then, friend."

Unlike before, he didn't walk the hall to leave. He stepped through the rift he'd made and returned home without a worry for the rain. Lucifer watched the rift close up behind the Owl Demon. Taking a step to his desk, he lifted the two glasses and eyed the golden amber liquid. "Bottoms up," he tossed back the first glass, moving to the window, he raised the second to the sky, "and to you, you bastard." Pouring it out slowly as the Inferno brew watered the carnivorous plants below.

Me: Here is chapter one. A new start to a new Kagome! I've got a couple of HH-HB/IY fics coming out, but I'm doing them in-between the constant updates of my other fics that are taking priority. So while I'm focusing on my Encanto/InuYasha fic "Reasons" and my HH-HB/IY fic "Love, Lust & Blood," every couple of updates, I will be posting a new HH-HB/IY fic while continuing to update the two I'm focusing on. Only five plots need to be posted, and after that, I'll rotate between the new fics with updates while prioritizing the two aforementioned fics. I really want to get these fics out, and this way, my mind is solely on Hazbin and Encanto. Please bear with me. Much love, everyone, and I sincerely hope you enjoyed this chapter.
