"The recon planes are back. No changes to the defenses."

"Is everyone in position?"

"Awaiting your order, Commander"

"Let's not keep the Sirens waiting. Commence Phase One."

"You think you can get away from ME? You will PAY!"

"Ah, Shikikan-sama! Allow me to clear a path for you!"

"You Sirens will not escape justice!"

"Allow me to show you the elegance of the Royal Maid Corps!"

"We're in. Find the control room."

"Yes, Commander!"

"The rest of you, commence Phase Two. Don't get caught."

"Pranks are our specialty!"

"Something's not right"

"Whatever do you mean, Master?"

"I mean, since when did you stop calling me 'lover' when we're alone?"

"Tch!"

Bang! Bang! Bang! "I lied. Sheffield wouldn't ever stoop so low to act like a maiden. Your decoys are getting better, Observer, but not good enough."

"Oh my, what a cruel Commander to not even hesitate to pull the trigger. You have exceeded our expectations."

"Your efforts are admirable, but ultimately futile. But I must thank you, for we wouldn't have collected such fascinating data without you. Any last words, Commander?"

"F-five."

"Five?"

"Three… one…"

Rumble Rumble Rumble

"!"

"Reactors failing! Power levels unstable! Multiple Siren devices activating! You fool! You don't know what you've done!"

"No, but it sounds like bad news for you. Give my regards to Davy Jones when you see him."

"Sir, we need to leave before the facility falls upon us."

"Get us out of here."

"We won't make it, sir."

"We'll make it.

"We are still within the blast radius, sir."

"… We will make it. We're going to go home, throw a huge party, get drunk, and make so many bad decisions. I promise."

"I'll hold you to that, Commander."

"Commander? Commander?! Please respond! All ships, sound off and look for survivors!"

"Enterprise…"

"He's alive. I know it."

Overview of Events

The Combined Joint Task Fleet of Azur Lane and Crimson Axis forces laid siege on the last Siren Stronghold at 0500. Initial reports from scouts proved in our favor and morning fog allowed our ships to advance close to Siren lines. The first shots came from the submarine fleet, their torpedoes disrupting patrol lines and creating multiple holes in the surrounding minefield. The advanced groups of Destroyers and Cruisers occupied the incoming reinforcements while Friendly Battleships targeted Enemy AA and Carriers, and Friendly Carriers built up air superiority.

By 1500, combined artillery and air strikes from Research Ships made a hole in the Siren Fortress. A small force including Commander William Arc inserted themselves in an effort to disable the Siren defenses and defeat the Siren leaders. The remaining forces would hold the line and keep an exfiltration path open. Due to Siren tactics, communication was jammed shortly after infiltration.

At 1900, explosions were set off from inside the facility. Recon suggested this was per the plan to disrupt Siren devices using timed explosives. There was still no communication from friendly forces inside. Less than one hour later, a bright explosion consumed the facility and surrounding waters. When the light faded, the facility remained but no life was to be found, human or KANSEN.

Detailed log of events in Attachment A

External Notes

-Commander William Arc's body was not recovered. Presumed KIA by upper Admiralty. Honors to be bestowed upon him at Arlington National Cemetery. Awarded Medal of Honor by POTUS.

-Siren Leadership presumed dead from lack of activity of Mass-produced Siren ships.

-To all Nations: Mercantile routes will be provided escort until all Siren vestiges are removed.

-Press Release: A Nuclear Warhead was used in the final battle. The Fortress will be quarantined and cleaned to prevent massive radiation poisoning to the ecosystem

Internal Notes

-A joint scientific task force has studied the fortress and surrounding area to find no traces of radiological activity. Maintain quarantine to keep civilians away.

-Expert knowledge of Siren technology from Crimson axis allowed for recovery of multiple Siren devices (see Appendix C)

-No KANSEN bodies were recovered either. Eyewitness reports state that the blast "pulled the others in" (see Appendix A).

-All factions have agreed to a ceasefire to mourn fallen comrades and Commander Arc

-Multiple parties requesting to change Commander Arc's status to MIA

A/N: What's this? A new chapter so soon? Yes and no. This interlude is an important piece of exposition and is part of a set that sets up some important things down the road. I can't really shove it into a block of dialogue like last chapter or we'd be here for months as I write it out. So this was the best way to tell it, and man have I been wanting to tell this. The other interludes will come on their own time and I might write them up soon so I can have them ready.

Also, some of you may be confused by the number being much much bigger than the amount of girls in game. Well, that's because the game implies that every ship is turned into a shipgirl and there are THOUSANDS of them. Hell, the D-Day invasion used almost 7k of ships! Plus, this gives me a little leeway in case there's a shipgirl that comes out that I really want to put in (stares at certain Union cruisers).

But the other side of the coin is that this is the reason why you may not see every shipgirl you want, at least not immediately. For example, why hasn't best maid Belfast shown up and kicked ass? Simple, she's not on Remnant. Neither is Enterprise, nor Queen Elizabeth, nor a few other big name ships. Will it stay that way? Spoilers.
