Dust…
It's quite remarkable how such a simple word can grow and change into something that would one day both shape and shake the very fabric of the reality it had called itself into.
Though this begs the question: What is Dust?
To put it in the simplest of terms, it is a form of power, crystallized and given form by its own sheer force of raw existing power. Sometimes regarded as magic… Though this explanation was provided by an early man and was wrought with ignorance. So, when Dust was better studied, a new explanation emerged.
It was two things: a fuel source now used in nearly everything, and a means to fight. It has properties that are elemental in nature and come in five basic types: Fire, Water, Earth, Lightning and Air (or Wind). These five can also be combined either naturally (such as the Wood Dust type found deep in forests that are a natural occurring fusion of Water and Earth in a lush environment) or artificially (such as combining earth and lighting to create Explosion Dust) to form stronger subtypes.
It can also be manipulated by a person's Aura and can even be fused with one's own body. The latter is very ill advised due to the high risk that comes with the act and can lead to death. Should someone survive Dust infusion, they will have great power at their fingertips depending on the element they've chosen.
Additionally it can be used in its raw form, or as refined ammunition, or infused into weapons or even woven into clothing. Simply put, it's versatility is neigh inexhaustible.
But despite this, humanity has yet to figure out how Dust came to be as a natural resource or how it's naturally formed, there are theories of course, but nothing concrete has been found or stated. Which makes one wonder, how does one find the answer to a question that doesn't want to be answered?
Perhaps the origin of Dust just can't be answered.
