The Creatures of Grimm, or better known simply as Grimm, are a truly destructive force in Remnant. Ravenous, destructive, and unrelenting, they are mankind's greatest foes.

In the simplest of terms: they are monsters attracted to negative emotions, but this only applies if they are in close proximity. For an example from the animal kingdom would be whales, dolphins or even bats. Meaning this to be a way of targeting prey more than anything else.

The range of detection increases with the Grimm's age, often resulting in them avoiding humans and faunus altogether until they need or wish to attack them.

While the flesh of a Grimm often dissipates in smoke upon death, they do leave bones behind. Though this is only in the cases of older Grimm with bone carapice plating. This has allowed scientists to study Grimm anatomy, determine the appropriate reward for the Hunters who killed them and even claim the bones as trophies.

Freshly spawned Grimm or "Fledglings", however, simply dissipate and are by far the easiest to kill. Additionally Grimm are known to be able to heal and even grow spikes or plates in old wounds. And also tend to grow larger as well. The oldest of these being the Primeval Grimm, having lived since the beginning of humanity.

The Grimm are also known to evolve into newer forms to suit their needs. Should a Grimm have a history of violence, that will show in their adaptations. Beowulfs, Ursai, Death Stalkers and Nevermore being among the most common.

Additionally, the Grimm's primary source of prey are usually humans and their creations, however conflicts with normal fauna are not uncommon. Though this is usually as a result of a dispute over territory than anything else.

The origins of the Grimm are shrouded in mystery. Some religious beliefs say that a malevolent god had created them to fight an enemy of theirs. Scientifically, it is believed they subsist on the negativity they bring or on negative emotions in general, though how this is the case remains largely unexplained.

But whatever the case, it would seem that the Grimm will always be a present threat to humanity from now until the end of time… no matter how hard they try to stop it.
