Chapter 3: Bad Landing Strategy

Devil Dragon Stand Knight: Hehehehe, Luca and Cinder did the Sweet Home Alabama

Dragon Emperor0: I don't know if I should be impressed that you got the reference from the last chapter. Unnerved that you find it amusing. Scared that you're familiar with that trope. Or all of the above…

ThermalsniperN7: Also, Cinder and Luca are NOT related by blood, but that doesn't change the fact that there's no romantic chemistry between them. They view each other purely as siblings.

-Beacon Academy, that following morning-

As everyone started to wake up, one of the students—Li Ren—soon found the first thing that greeted him as he woke up to be his childhood friend, Nora Valkyrie.

"Wake up, sleepy head!" She said energetically. "It's morning, it's morning, it's morning~!" She sang.

As the girl continued on her one sided conversation with the rather quiet Ren, the two failed to notice that their talking was slowly starting to get on the nerves of a certain lupine faunus with a cataclysmic bad attitude.

"I swear, I'm going to rip her throat out!" Fenris growled as he ravenously devoured the food in front of him. His teeth were digging into a large beef shank that sat on a bed of lettuce, mashed new potatoes and gray, caramelized onions and au jus sauce. Additionally he had several chains of Sausage and bratwurst links, Sunny side eggs, bacon, and a stack of pancakes that was a foot tall with butter and syrup. Lastly he had three large glasses of Chocolate, plain and strawberry milk.

"You can do that to whatever we have to fight in initiation." Luca said from beside him as he ate a ham and cheese sandwich with some water. He was also startled by the amount of meat the boy was eating.

Ruby and Yang had faces that said 'this is normal' while the others had various expressions on their faces as they looked at Fenris' breakfast.

"How disgusting!" Weiss exclaimed in distaste, appalled at the boy's obvious lack of table manners as he finished all the side food, slurped up with sausage like noodles, and then suddenly started gnawing on the bone of his beef shank to get to the marrow.

"Oh, I think I'm gonna be sick." Jaune groaned in a nauseated tone, his face turning a sickly shade of green as he was forced to watch the morbid display of savagery before him.

"How are you two not fazed by this?!" Neptune questioned in disbelief as he looked at the two sisters.

"You should've seen him when he got his first taste of food after we found him alone in the woods. Poor guy acted like he hadn't had a decent meal in years." Yang noted as Fenris gnawed through the bone and started sucking out the bone marrow.

"Fun fact: it was sausages. It's part of the reason why he loves them so much." Ruby added as she picked up a jalapeño cheese sausage link and tossed it in the air. "Catch!" She called as the faunus caught the tube of meat in his mouth.

"Thanks, Ruby!" The wolf boy smiled after swallowing the link and going back to his food.

"Ya know, I think I'm starting to see your point." Sun commented as he looked at the sisters in the group.

"It's like he's their pet." Neptune commented off handedly, which got him a good few glares, except from Weiss who let out a snort. "Okay, poor choice of words." He admitted.

"Ya think?" Luca questioned with a light hiss.

A short while later, everyone was getting ready for initiation in the locker room. By luck, Fenris and Ruby's lockers were next to each other's.

"Whatever happens today, please, just be careful." The boy told the girl as he hugged her tightly.

"Only if you do the same." The silver eyed girl replied as she hugged him back. This seemed to cause a group of boys on the other side of the room to start making lovey dovey noises as if to mock them.

This made Fenris tense up as he glared at them over his shoulder with a growl.

"Back off, assholes!" Yang barked at them with a glare, forcing them to clam up. "So, you ready to get put on a team and meet some more people?" She asked.

"Why would I need to meet new people when I have you and Fenris?" Ruby asked in a shy tone, hugging the boy's arm.

"Well, we could end up being on different teams is all. That's what I mean." The blonde said.

"My dear sister Yang, are you implying that you don't want to be on the same team as me?!" The Silver Eyed girl snapped indignantly.

"What? No! Never!" Yang tried to defend herself, but failed.

"You're not doing a good job defending yourself, you know." Luca commented as he walked up to them, his gear on his person.

"Hey! Who's side are you even on?!" The brawler questioned.

"... There are sides here?" The snake faunus asked as he tilted his head in confusion, causing Fenris to snort and Ruby to giggle.

"... Okay, now I know you're messing with me." Yang said flatly.

Meanwhile with the others, both Jaune and Neptune were busy flirting with both Weiss and Pyrrha, though their Casanova routine was interrupted when a boy named Cardin Winchester, one of the boys who were making fun of Ruby and Fenris, blew past them, knocking Jaune on the ground.

"Jeez, that guy sure was an asshole." Sun noted as he helped the fellow blondie up to his feet. Allowing him to dust himself off.

"Yeah, I can tell." Jaune nodded before looking at Weiss. "Anyway, there's still an open spot on Tean Jaune." He said in a flirting tone.

"Okay, now you're getting too close." The girl told him before Sun pulled him back.

"Right method, wrong target Funboy." The monkey faunus told him.

"How do you know?" The knight questioned.

"Call it a hunch." Sun replied as everyone got their stuff.

(Later)

After gathering on a cliff the students were approached by Goodwitch and Ozpin. "Alright everyone, today you will be put into teams by going through the Emerald Forest down below." Goodwitch told them.

"You will first join up in pairs with the first person you make eye contact with, then the pair you join up with at the ruins near the opposite end of the Forest will make up the final set of teammates you will work with." Ozpin continued. "Additionally be wary of the wildlife in the area, there should not be any Grimm in this forest so as long as you're able to fend off the local fauna, you should be fine." He added.

"Huh, wasn't expecting that." Fenris muttered since he was kinda expecting Grimm.

"Are there any questions?" The headmaster questioned.

"Uh, I have one." Jaune spoke up.

"Yes?" Ozpin asked.

"How are you keeping the Grimm—YAH HO HO HOOOIII!" The blonde questioned before he was sent flying into the forest by the catapult underneath him.

Ozpin and Glynda watched silently as the initiates flew through the air and into the forest, each landing in different parts of the wooded area below.

Dragon Emperor0:... Did Jaune just scream like Goofy?

ThermalsniperN7: Yeah, I think he did. And Cardin just made himself look like a complete ass from the get-go.

Dragon Emperor0: Hopefully as the story progresses, he'll become a better person. And who knows, if he gets to know the other faunus students, maybe he'll even lose his more racist tendencies?

ThermalsniperN7: One can hope. Anyway, see you guys in the initiation!
