"I'm telling you, this girl is a real mystery!"

Makarov and Porlyusca were in the Fairy Tail Master's office talking about Juvia.

"I take it you haven't been able to find anything that could at least tell us something more?"

"No! Fainting due to heatstroke wouldn't be strange for anyone else, but with her it's different."

"What does that mean? What are you trying to say?"

"She has lived her whole life in the rain and only since she joined here has she enjoyed the sun, and excluding the seven years spent frozen in Tenrou, this means she's only had a few months under the sun."

"Are you saying that the sun can hurt her?"

"I'm saying that her body is not used to these temperatures, because even though she has experienced summers before, it's been under rain which isn't frozen but it is cold."

"I see."

"Also, her body is made of water, and that is even stranger."

"But she activates it with a spell, it's not like she is actually made of water."

"No, Makarov! Her body is made of water! That spell only activates intangibility permitted with her water body."

"Wait! Are you telling me that she's not human?"

"I didn't say that! I only said that this is the first time that I've seen something like this and it's worrying."

"I understand, but is there anything we can do?"

"For now, we let Gray keep putting ice on her forehead."

"But doesn't that risk freezing her?"

"Fortunately the boy is smart and knows how to make the ice without freezing her completely."

"And then, what do we do? We're in the middle of summer! The days will continue like this and possibly get even hotter.

"I recommend that she stay in the room, too much sun isn't good for her."

"It's not fair that that girl can't live a normal life."

Makarov couldn't accept it, he wanted to find a solution that would finally let Juvia live in the sun and enjoy the summertime.

"No, it's not fair, but life rarely is fair."

"Perhaps there is someone who could help us learn more about Juvia."

"Yes? That would really help us, I'm not saying that they need to fix everything but they could at least give us some answers and we could find more solutions."

"I'm not sure about obtaining information, I'm not even sure if he'll know anything, but I'll try talking with José."

"The old Phantom Lord Master?"

"Yes."

"What makes you think he can help you?"

"Juvia told me that she joined Phantom Lord because José specifically searched for her and invited her to join."

"That's suspicious…"

"And knowing José, even more so…"

"Even if he knew something, do you think he'd tell you?"

"Probably not, but there's no harm in trying, I just have to convince those on duty to let me talk with him."

"He's still in prison, right?"

"Yes, and he'll stay there for many more years."

"Good luck."

Levy, Freed, and Lucy were seated together at a table studying several books.

The three mages were trying to find a solution for Juvia or at least an explanation for the rain or more information about water mages, whichever was more useful.

Cana was also trying to help them with her cards.

"Nothing, none of these books talk about rain that has lasted for years," Levy said.

The solid script mage had read many books, some even in other languages, but she found nothing useful in any of them.

"Crux couldn't even find any information," Lucy said.

The celestial spirit mage had called Crux, the spirit that had the ability to gather information, but old Crux had informed Lucy that he was unable to find anything.

"It says here that water mages are very rare, there are many people who are able to use water magic, but true water mages are very rare," Freed said.

"Well, that's how it is, I use water magic with Halphas," Mira said.

"And I with Mermaid Soul," Lisanna added.

"I do with my Sea Empress armor," Erza said.

"And I use it through my cards," Cana said.

"Well, I use it through Aquarius," Lucy said.

"And I with Solid Script,"Levy said.

"Jellal also uses it…" Erza said.

"Yes, but it says here that there is a great difference, apparently water mages use a form of magic known as True Water Magic, while other mages that use water use it through transformations or special elements… and it's known as simple water magic," Freed said.

"Basically, Juvia-San's magic is pure," Wendy said.

"Exactly."

"Lucy, have you tried calling Aquarius?" Natsu asked.

"No, should I?"

"She isn't a water mage like Juvia but she's the water spirit, it's not the same but maybe she can help," Natsu said while he kept eating.

Everyone looked at him with wide eyes and open mouths.

"Did Natsu say something smart for once?" Macao asked.

"That's a great idea, Natsu! Lucy call Aquarius, now!" Erza said.

"Ok,it's fine."

So Lucy called Aquarius, who hit her for calling her while she was on a romantic date with Scorpio.

The mermaid calmed down after Cana told her about Juvia and explained the situation.

"Mh, I see."

"And? Do you think you can help us?"

"We have the same magic, but not the same source, like the man with green hair said, there are various forms of water magic."

"I always thought it was the same," Lucy said.

"Of course you did! Because you are an ignorant and stupid girl who will never get a boyfriend!"

"What does that have to do with this?"

"Either way, heat isn't a problem in the Celestial Spirit World, so I don't know, but in any case keep investigating if it's hurting her, from what you say it's a serious situation."

After that, Aquarius asked if she could visit Juvia and speak with her, which Erza permitted.

The two talked about many things and Aquarius told her not to despair because surely everything would turn out fine.

Gray was still trying to make Juvia feel better through his ice.

"Gray-Sama."

"Yes?"

"You can stop, really."

"Is it too cold?"

In fact, Porlyusca had given him instructions but had told him not to overdo it.

"No, but Juvia can also use normal ice, it's not necessary that Gray-Sama waste his energy on Juvia."

"I'm not wasting my energy, don't worry."

"But…"

"That's enough, it's better that you rest since it's still very hot."

The girl turned towards the mirror to look at the sun that was high and bright in the sky and her face grew sad.

"Yes, even today it's sunny."

"Hey! Don't take it so bad! It's only for a little bit! You know what? When the temperatures drop down to normal we'll go to the sea, apart from the pool."

"The sea?"

"Yes, there'll be more room there to play and have fun, also the beach, it'll be fun."

In fact, Juvia had told him once that she had never seen the calm sea on a sunny day, she had always seen it dark and stormy with the rain.

"It'll be fun."

Juvia was convinced that Gray wasn't listening to her when she spoke, but she was wrong because he heard every word that she said, even when they were meaningful and embarrassing, he listened to her because she was important to him.

A few hours later, Gray was seated at the guild bar, angry.

Gajeel had kicked him out again!

Why was Gajeel fine but not him? Juvia was in love with Gray Fullbuster, Fairy Tail's ice mage, not Gajeel Redfox, the Iron Dragon Slayer!

The situation infuriated him!

On the other side, Levy was also seated and upset.

She wasn't jealous, no, she wasn't, why, should she be?

After all, she and Gajeel weren't a thing, at best they could possibly be friends.

Juvia was a better match for him, they had known each other for years, they had faced many battles together, she was beautiful, strong, and had a fabulous body.

But Levy? She was just smart! Levy only had brains; everyone would tell her! But she was proud of her brains!

"Either way this morning when I returned and went to see Juvia, I saw Gajeel adjusting her sheets and giving her a cold towel for her forehead, and she smiled at him, they were so sweet!" Mirajane said.

Gray was about to break his glass just like Levy was about to break her pencil.

"Do you think there was ever anything between the two of them? They're really close, too close," Cana asked.

"Juvia and Gajeel?" someone asked.

"Well, after all she was the one who insisted on bringing him here," Evergreen reasoned, "And why him and no one else?"

"Like Romeo's professor! He was also in Phantom and one of her teammates," Wakaba said.

"What about Gajeel? How did they get so close?" Jet thought out loud.

"Well, actually, when we were in the Tower of Heaven she told me that Gajeel-Kun was the one who taught her some things, I was surprised because I never would have believed that they were more than guildmates, Gajeel didn't seem like the type to have friends," Lucy said.

"Or a girl," Droy added.

"You think they were together?" Evergreen asked.

"Perhaps they had a fling and then broke up," Lisanna said.

"Staying friends after a breakup is manly!" Elfman said, earning a smack from Evergreen.

"No, that's crazy!" Macao said.

"I don't think they were together; I think they're just friends," Lucy said.

"And you, Gray, what do you think?" Mira asked, "And you, Levy?"

"I don't care," the Ice-Make mage responded.

"That's none of my business," Levy responded.

But it did matter to both of them, and a lot.

"And you Erza? What do you think?"

"I think that you're all terribly nosy," she said, while calmly eating her strawberry cake.

"So?" Cana asked.

"I think that they're just friends, their relationship is more than romantic, I see it as fraternal, and even if there was something more between them, it's the past, it's their business, it's a private matter, but regardless I doubt that anything happened."

"And you Natsu?"

"They're like me and…" he said while he kept devouring everything, "And Erza and Gray."

"What are you talking about?" said the latter.

"Erza is like an older sister to Gray and me, we're always together and we've been on a thousand adventures, we protect each other and Erza scolds when we mess up, like how Gajeel does with Juvia."

"Exactly," Erza said.

"Juvia and Gajeel are not like us," Gray said.

"No, no they're not, their relationship is stronger, because unlike us they've only had each other, despite the bad past we've always had a kind of light, not them, they only found it here in Fairy Tail, before Juvia only had Gajeel and Gajeel only had Juvia, they didn't even have their ex-guildmates or their own guild because Phantom Lord was different," Erza said.

"That made them closer," Natsu said, still eating.

"You guys seem to know more than you're saying," Cana said.

"When Gajeel and I fought in the Phantom building, he said that he didn't care about any of those jerks, that upset me because they were his guildmates, then he kept making fun of fire mages, and then he told me that I was lucky because if the rain woman had touched me then I would have been screwed, I didn't understand at first, then I understood during the Grand Magic Games,"Natsu said.

"Actually Juvia and I talk a lot, we often drink tea in Fairy Hills in her room, we found out that we have a lot in common, in one of these chats she spoke to me about her relationship with Gajeel,"Erza said.

"Tell us more."

"Honestly, I was curious about something Lucy had told me and I decided to ask Juvia."

"What do I have to do with this?"

"What was it about?"

"Lucy said that Juvia saw her as a love rival because she was close to Gray, but she didn't do the same with me, even though I was also close to Gray."

"Essentially."

"So I asked Juvia why."

"Maybe she was scared like the rest of us?" someone said.

"Not even Juvia's obsessions can go up against Erza," someone else said.

"She told me that she didn't see me as a love rival because she had cautiously observed my behavior with Gray and she only saw a great friend that acted like an older sister."

"What?"

"And that during the Tower of Heaven she saw that I couldn't be a love rival for her."

"Because you're in love with Jellal like she is with Gray," Mira said smiling.

"But me neither! Why is she mad at me?" Lucy said.

"She told me because you have everything a girl needs to drive a man crazy, that any man would go crazy over you, but that's something the two of you need to talk about."

"But?"

"Anyway, in the end she told me that she saw part of her relationship with Gajeel in my relationship with Natsu and Gray, who were completely different but there was immense affection, so I asked her how she became friends with Gajeel."

"And what did she say?"

"That it was a long story, that at the beginning she was afraid of him because everyone in Phantom feared him and no one got near him and that he hated when anyone disturbed him."

"And?"

"That it happened purely by chance, apparently he used to fight Phantom's new recruits and punch them, but with Juvia he couldn't because his punches were useless thanks to her water body, and this made Gajeel angry."

"And?"

"Then she told me that they started training together, that it was José who suggested it to Gajeel, he said it would be good for the both of them."

"And then?"

"Training after training, mission after mission, spending more and more time together, they united, in the end they were like the outcasts of the guild and they were always alone, so they got along well."

"And so?"

"Years went by and their relationship got more and more better, even with distance and their compromises, he would go alone and she had her team, but in the end they always managed to find time to be together, she told me that Gajeel had been her savior in Phantom, that she felt like a fish out of water and Gajeel, in his own way, helped her adapt, and that's why she insisted so much on bringing him here."

"And what part of them did she see in us?"

"The strong bond, she told me that she was moved by the way Fairy Tail protected their own, that she was sure that in Phantom they wouldn't do it for anyone, but she would do it for Gajeel and she knew that he too would do it for her."

"Some things are unexplainable, but they happen," Natsu said.

Author's Corner!

Here's a new chapter!

Oh, yes, Makarov will speak with José in the next chapter.

I've always asked myself about the origin of Juvia's water body, personally I'm still confused about it…

There are millions of theories on the internet, but I still don't understand, I've also read a lot of fanfiction on the theme, each one better than the last.

I need Mashima to tell us something!

I also think the subject of the rain has a lot of potential.

Why did it rain? When did it start? What were the causes? Why did it never stop? How could it stop after only meeting Gray? Why did it return during Avatar? Why did she get sick under her own element? Did it rain in the location, city, or just where she was?

Personally, it would have seemed more logical if she had gotten sick with the sun…

There are so many questions, many holes to fill…

In sum, it rained for 17 years of her life, for what we know!

There are many characters in Fairy Tail that use water magic, but Juvia is the only water mage. It seemed strange to me but great. Like she was special.

True Water Magic comes from Black Clover, I don't know if you follow that manga, it's really great!

I wanted to add Aquarius and her friendship with Juvia.

A while ago on Tumblr I read a theory that Juvia was the daughter of Aquarius and a human… it was a lovely theory but a bit crazy to me, so don't worry, I won't follow that path.

To tell the truth, I have my own theory, but it's even crazier than that one, the canon says different things, so it'd go against the canon a lot and I don't like it.

A Gruvia moment and a moment of jealousy for Levy and Gray directed at Gajeel and Juvia.

I wanted Erza and Natsu to tell the story of Gajeel and Juvia because I liked the idea and because I see Natsu and Gajeel as very similar in certain things and Erza close to Juvia.

I really see Erza much closer to Juvia than Lucy, perhaps it's just my impression, I don't know.

This said, many thanks to those who read and comment and we'll see each other next time.

Thank you to those who follow, read, and comment and those who also found this as an interesting idea.

Many thanks to Botan G as always for translating my fics into English, for taking this precious time and dedicating it to you and me.

Until next time.
