AN: Yo, a final chap to settle questions about my version of HP's power scaling, how the world works, and a few miscellaneous questions. Rest assured, I created this scale with my beta reader for the sake of giving readers a base to work with. **[There is no need to worry about numbers or energy bars being thrown around in fights and stuff.]** To the one reader who made a wuxia joke, good call lol.

5.11: Jin's Research Notes.

The sun shined down through the glass of the cabin's windows, illuminating the space within as Jin relaxed on his couch. Fleur had wanted more natural light one day and simply transfigured the walls to make windows until she was satisfied.

Jin didn't mind one way or another, so he let her do her thing. Before the natural light came in, he just kept a light charm going whenever he didn't use a lantern. Prolonged use had given him enough time to figure out how to combine it with the bubble head charm to create balls of light that could float gently around the room.

Fleur thought it was romantic, but as a creature of fire and passion, she craved her sunlight. Scotland was a cold and dark place compared to France, and she took out her annoyance by burning things or seeking attention from him. He found it cute and sexy at first, but it eventually became a pain in the ass.

Like now, when he was just minding his business with his feet up, writing away in his journal in peace, and the front door slammed open to bring in his grumpy lover. "Why would anyone put a school in a god awful place like this!?"

Jin didn't even bother looking up as he responded. "Believe it or not, some people enjoy the cold Sparkles."

"Yeah, well they need to get there heads checked!" Fleur tossed her school bag aside and kicked off her boots as she made her way to the couch.

Jin expertly moved the tray of steaming drinks from his side out of the way as she dove onto the couch and shoved her face into his stomach. "You're warm."

His arm came down around her without much thought. "Oi, don't just shove your frozen hands up my shirt."

"Why not?"

"Maybe cuz it's cold?"

"It's ok, you can handle it." She clung to his waist like a happy cat while he rolled his eyes.

"I was kind of doing something."

She hummed and nuzzled against him happily. "Then keep doing it, I'm busy."

"Am I just a stuffed pillow to you or something?"

"Of course not, a pillow isn't heated. You're better."

"Gee, I feel so honored."

Fleur laughed and looked up into his semi-amused face. "How are you feeling, Jin?"

His gaze softened as he bent down to kiss her. "I'm better. Thanks for checking up on Alfred and his gang for me."

She laughed and leaned into him. "Don't worry about it. He's such a sweetheart."

"To you, sure."

"Some of us have skills others don't."

"Some of us are drop dead gorgeous."

"Flattery will get you everywhere~."

The two laughed in unison as she warmed up using his body heat, idly enjoying the unblemished smooth skin covering his steel-like muscles underneath. "Really, how are you feeling? It's only been three days since the ritual."

He sighed and sank back into the couch as he recalled waking up barely able to walk in Magnie's tent a few days before. "For more than one reason, I was exhausted, but whatever that herbal mix they fed me was did wonders for getting my engine going."

Fleur giggled at the memory of Jin being….stimulated…. and the fun that followed. "And your appetite?"

"Still crazy. I feel like I just started puberty again, I think I'm increasing in size as well. Magnie said it should calm down in a few days."

Fleur felt up his body unashamedly. "I've got no complaints."

"I'm sure you don't, but if you don't mind, I was working on something Sparkles."

She turned onto her side to look at what he was doing. "Are you still working on this thing?"

He huffed and flicked her ear for her cheek. "Yes, yes I am. I'm just about done to."

"Jin, I told you it wasn't worth quantifying a magicals ability on a scale. There is just too much variation from different branches for it to be practical."

"You're right, that's why I singled out combat potential for my scaling. Considering I can't use anything besides charms, there isn't a point for me to make a scale for other branches."

Fleur raised a brow. "Is that why you did that silly competition the other month?"

"Yup, and I had a good cover for it."

Flashback:

Jin stood side by side with Professor Flitwick and McGonagall inside the newly re-opened dueling hall as students of all ages poured in.

"Mr. Fluff, I hope you know I did not make this little game of yours mandatory for the school. I'm only accepting it all because it's the weekend."

Jin nodded to the older woman with a smile. "Of course ma'am. This is just a little social experiment for Charms theory professor Flitwick and I were curious about. It won't last more than a few hours; you have my word."

The diminutive professor at his side nodded. "Indeed Minerva, don't be a stick in the mud. Isn't scholarly pursuits in the name of our branches something we should strive for? I find it encouraging to see the students practice their spell work outside of class in a friendly competitive manner."

McGonagall sniffed. "Hmph. Perhaps if it was for a worthier branch, I would be more invested."

"Minerva! We've been over this, charms has just as much, if not more potential than Transfiguration."

"You only say such a thing because you have never truly delved into true art."

Jin sweatdropped as the two older professors bickered. 'Whats with the high horses? I bribed you with liquor you old bat. And Flitwick, it took me weeks to actually get you to act.' His internal thoughts aside, Jin watched as a good two hundred students, some from the visiting schools, showed up in the large hall with a smile. 'Fleur was right, offering a reward of a custom acromantula silk robe to the winner attracted a lot of attention.'

He coughed into his hand. "Professors, perhaps we should begin? I do not wish to hold up your time."

McGonagall broke off her argument and nodded. "Carry on Mr. Fluff."

Flitwick shot him a thumbs up. "The floors yours."

"Think I could get a boost for my voice?"

"Oh yes, here you are." Flitwick shot him with a charm, only for it to splash harmlessly against Jin's skin. The professor eyed his blank expression in slight embarrassment. "Right, easy to forget about that."

McGonagall smiled haughtily and waved her wand as a podium formed from the ground. "Perhaps, enchanting the item would be more fitting here."

Flitwick shot her a glare but did so.

Jin chose to ignore them and address the room. Many familiar faces waved to him from the crowd and got a smile from him in return. "Hey everyone, thanks for coming. To those who don't know me, my names Jin. As you saw in the fliers spread around the school, we are having a little contest slash experiment here for anyone who knows the stunning charm to participate in." He waved a hand to the far side of the room, where a row of training dummies was lined up. "The contest is to cast the stunning charm, as many times as possible, in the time frame of one minute. You get extra points if you manage to push the dummies back with the power of your charm as well. Everyone gets three tries, and the winner will be the proud owner of a voucher for a free custom Acromantula silk robe."

There was a round of excited cheers at the prize, and Jin once more thanked his lover, who was currently off with Saya studying ritual runes without much interest in his little contest. Some of the wealthier students scoffed at the prize, but their pride in being the best kept them around anyway.

Jin waved an arm to the side. "Alright, no need to stall any longer. If everyone could line up in single file lines, we can be under way. The scores will be marked by myself and overseen by none other than the esteemed Professor's McGonagall and Flitwick, so no one can call me out on foul play."

McGonagall stepped up then. "Thank you Mr. Fluff. Students, if you choose to participate, I will have no chaos in this room. Any such nonsense will see you disqualified immediately. Understood?" Her stern glare made even the foreign students respond in acceptance before she nodded with satisfaction. She turned away while eyeing Jin. "The rest is yours Mr. Fluff. I expect my payment on my desk by no later than monday morning."

"Of course Ma'am." He internally rolled his eyes as she walked away to the judging platform. 'Bloody alcoholic.'

The next few hours flew by as students from the fifth year and up, with the occasional fourth year, came up to try their luck. Most didn't do more than shake the dummies, but occasionally a student would knock them back a step, and in the case of a rare few who took their time to charge up before shooting their spell, the dummies went flying back against the wall. The stunning charm was spammed as many times as they could in a minute before they dropped into exhaustion.

Flitwick was over the moon as he called out pointers and constantly acted like a backseat driver, trying to argue his case about how a student should be graded. The two went into full nerd mode, debating their points, and McGonagall had to act as the tiebreaker in many cases.

Many students shined in the contest for their casting speed, others shined for how powerful their charms were, and many were humbled by their lack of ability in the face of their peers. But by the time the last entry finished, the winner came in.

Jin stood back on the podium to address the crowd again. "I thank everyone for participating, we had a close match in the case of a few students, but with only a single tri-wizard champion competing, I think we all knew who the crowd favorite was." The Hogwarts students cheered loudly as Jin waved his hand. "Cedric Diggory, come on up here man and claim your prize."

The Hufflepuffs cheered loudest as Cedric was pushed up by his friends. The young man bashfully rubbed his neck and walked up to shake Jin's hand. "Sorry about stealing the prize, it seemed like fun to join in."

Jin laughed and slapped the guy's shoulder. "Don't worry about it. Everyone was welcome to compete; you just proved you're the best charms caster among the gathered crowd." He pulled out a voucher from his pocket and handed it over. "Head to that address and give it to Jamie; she'll hook you up. Fair warning, she can get…..excited…about custom jobs."

Cedric raised a questioning brow, but Jin waved it away. 'Jamies a better fit for this guy than Cho; that girl is trouble.' Jin had caught the girl making advances at him now and then despite dating Cedric, but he wouldn't cause drama because of it. Cedric earned his prize; the rest was up to fate.

He faced the crowd a final time. "Another round of applause for our winner!" Cedric chuckled and waved the voucher in the air as everyone cheered, but Jin wasn't done. "Now that everyone has had a chance to see where they stand in practical ability, how about we get a rare opportunity to see a master at work?" He waved his hand at the suddenly on-the-spot professors. "What do you say, everybody? Who wants to see the fabled professors of Hogwarts show us how it's done?!"

His enthusiasm got the crowd roaring, and the professors took it in good humor.

"What do you say Minerva? Think you can best a former dueling champion?"

McGonagall smirked at the challenge. "Filius, you're hay days are long behind you. Winner takes detentions for the next month?"

"You're on."

The two stepped off to go to the starting positions, but McGonagall left him with a parting comment as she passed. "Mr. Fluff, I applaud your scholarly pursuits, but do not make an attempt to manipulate me to gather data a second time; I will not take kindly to it. I expect my payment to be doubled."

Jin internally winced as the woman walked away. 'Yeah, my bad to think the woman who worked under Dumbles to not recognize that. Meh, it's just another few bottles of Firewhiskey, I'll deal with it. I might need to get Gorluff to give back some of my investment though. Still worth it.'

Flashback end.

Fleur read over his notes in rising interest. "Did you really gather that much data from it?"

"I did. I admit I'm using a lot of knowledge I'm privy to, but I had to actually understand the numbers by gathering data. It took months but I think I have a good scale to work with."

Fleur pushed herself up to talk more seriously. "Whats the point of it though?"

"I want to be able to scale my strength appropriately, see where I can improve."

She raised a brow at him. "And you can't do that without such a scale?"

"No, I really can't. I read thousands of theory books, Fleur. Since the day I got to Hogwarts, I have been reading every single theory book on charms I could find in the Room of Requirement. The school was cleaned out of every damn book that had the formula for charms outside the curriculum. I didn't bother checking anything outside of Charms or Arithmancy, as I didn't have the time to waste on something I couldn't use, but these books were basically all philosophy and theory." He rubbed the bridge of his nose, remembering all the crap he slugged through. "Hundreds of people, all with their own views and philosophies to magic. Do you know how confusing it was? I swore if I didn't find anything useful in all their 'wisdom,' I would just make my own scale. So I did."

Fleur studied his expression for a moment and nodded at how much effort he actually put into it. "Show me then. I'll help you where I can."

He smiled at her and turned a page. "Thanks Sparkles, I appreciate the support."

She leaned in and rested her head on his shoulder. "You always have it Jin, never be afraid to ask."

He chuckled and rested his own head on hers. "I know. And its less fear and more of that I didn't want to say anything until it made sense."

"Hm, show me."

"Fine, fine, don't blame me if it's a bit rough." He turned the page and pointed at a few key words. "In order to make a scale, I had to divide the pieces that go into casting a spell; I divided it into six areas."

Fleur read them over. "Intent, Power, Casting Speed, Focus, Mana Pool, and Recovery Rate?"

"Yeah, what do you do when you cast a charm?" She shot him a look, and he chuckled. "Just humor me."

She rolled her eyes but answered seriously. "Well, first you need to imagine what you want to do."

"Right, that's the Intent. When you cast a fire making charm, are you intending to make a small flame, a snake sized flame, or a pillar of flame?"

She nodded at the logic. "True. You need to imagine what you want prior to casting, or the spell could fail altogether. The clearer the image, the better the cast."

"Exactly. Spell words and chants are shortcuts for intent, but imagination is a strong part of intent because you have to actually be familiar with what you are intending to do. If you wanted to create a flame at the temperature of the sun, how hot is that? Are you familiar with that heat? Can you picture it clearly? All that is part of intent. It's easy to imagine you want to split a rock in half with a severing charm, but depending on how familiar you are with the blade you are using will determine what kind of cutting edge your charm has. The more familiar you are with the image, the stronger the intent, and the stronger the final result."

Fleur raised her hand and summoned a small flame. "Hm, then why would I be so at ease with creating flames?"

"I believe that's due to the nature of your bloodline. Magical Bloodlines contain memories and experiences in them that take shape as natural abilities and instincts to magical creatures. That's why magical species seem to have an innate sense of how to use their abilities."

Her lip twitched in humor. "I didn't take you for a blood supremist Jin."

He scoffed and waved a hand. "I couldn't care less what people do, but I'm not a supremist. Inbreeding will destroy a bloodline, not strengthen it. There are plenty of examples of magicals from ancient families born to a muggleborn mix and resulting in special abilities being unearthed."

Fleur hummed at that. "Sadly, inbreeding isn't unique to Britain, but it's not as intense in other places as it is here. We've gone off topic however, intent is important, what about 'Power'?"

Jin turned to his page for it. "Power is the aspect of how much mana per second a witch or wizard can move from their mana core to their wand."

"How much?"

Jin nodded seriously. "I decided to numerize mana in units, and the barest minimum to cast a spell is 1 unit of mana. I used a stunning charm as a base, and found that it takes 10 units of mana to make a stunning charm strong enough to knock out a wizard or witch, anything less will just make them woozy.

So the second category on the scale is 'Power,' how much mana they can draw out per second. Although, wands make things annoying."

"Why do you say so?"

Jin sighed and idly tapped his finger on the page. "Wands are a powerful tool but a crutch for magicals. I tried discussing this in length with Flitwick, and we both agreed on a simple fact. Magicals cripple their ability to feel their mana core and draw out mana without a wand since they start using them as soon as they begin casting magic at eleven years old."

Fleur blinked at that and looked at her own wand. "But I can feel my core just fine?"

He chuckled and poked her forehead. "Thank your heritage for that again. A Veela's allure and ability to create fire naturally draw from your mana core, so you never grew up without becoming familiar with it. For others who relied on a wand their whole lives, you take it away from them and they will never be able to cast anything. They rely on a medium to draw out their mana, and are blind to how to do it manually."

"But there are schools that teach wandless magic, like the one in Africa."

"Right, I assume some teachers out there recognized the damage of a wand and changed their teaching styles. A wand isn't a bad thing inherently, but they shouldn't be used until someone is very familiar with casting without one first."

"Is that why you never got one?"

Jin chuckled and scratched his cheek. "I was never a fan of the concept of waving around a stick to be honest." He held up his hand at her mock offended look. "I know, I know, it's an intimate thing for a magical to bond with their magical focus, but the concept always seemed silly to me. And then, once I really started to learn how things work, I decided not to use one at all. My fighting style is not conducive to occupying a hand with a wand."

"A magical focus doesn't need to be held you know. I believe the Japanese wear bracelets for their focuses."

He nodded at her point. "True, I don't know what to tell you. Call it instinct if you want, but I don't think it's time for me to get a magical focus just yet. I still have a lot of room to grow without one. Plus, my new hand bones are a good boost on their own." He wiggled his fingers, and she chuckled.

"I can't argue with that. Goblin Silver is highly mana conductive."

"Yup, but it's not stifling my potential which is nice. You should make sure to practice more without your wand. Build on that connection to your core and try to mimic that for the rest of your spell casting."

"Hm, I'll consider it. What comes after Power again?"

He chuckled and turned the page. "Casting Speed. Power was for how many units of mana could be drawn out per second. Casting Speed is how fast it takes to channel the mana from the core into your wand.

Since most wizards have no manual control over their power scale, they just use concepts like 'use more mana' and 'use less mana' by practicing casting with a wand. They get to the point where it's second nature to cast a 'standard' spell without being able to adjust what they're doing. A sort of mental conditioning where they would have to add a prefix to their spell to power it up. 'Maxima' is a wizard or witch telling their brain to channel more power unconsciously into a spell."

"But how would you scale Power and Casting Speed? They seem like they are intertwined."

Jin smirked at that. "They are and they aren't. I'll come back to that. The last area of casting is 'Focus'. A caster needs to keep a clear and focused mind to cast magic. They intend what they want to do, in most cases by using a spell word accompanied by their mental image, then they channel mana into their focus based on their Power and Casting Speed, and then they use mental Focus to actualize the spell into reality and shoot it. In cases where a spell has a prolonged effect, they need to keep their Focus up to control their magic."

Fleur considered that point. "I see. Just like how a panicking wizard often fails to cast their spells."

"Exactly. Panic, pain, hysteria, there are dozens of reasons why a caster can lose their Focus, and their spells fail or explode in their face."

"Intent, Power, Casting Speed, and Focus. It makes sense in theory. The other two are Mana Pool and Mana Recovery Rate, correct?"

"Yeah. It's actually well documented that magicals have an upper limit to how much mana they can contain in their cores at any given time. Witches and wizards go through the most magical growth in their puberty years, and their mana pools continue to grow throughout their lives, but active use of your magic will increase the growth speed."

Jin turned the page and pointed to a scale of numbers. "By my estimation through subjective tests, data from students, teachers, and a few questionable folks I met in Diagon, plus dozens of theory books I came across in my research, if it takes 10 units of mana to make a stunning charm capable of stunning a magical, then an average adult wizard has around 200 units of mana. In my tests, an average adult could only cast an effective stunning charm twenty times in a row before exhaustion, while students from fifth to seventh year averaged around seven to fifteen before they started petering out. I got the average of a couple retired Aurors, and the professors, which averaged out at thirty to thirty-five stunning charms at the max.

So a student from the fifth to seventh year should have around 70 – 120 units of mana in their pools. A grown average adult is about 200. And an Auror, teacher, or someone who heavily practices magic reaches around 300 – 350 units."

Fleur followed his scale and considered it. "According to your scale, whats the upper limit?"

"Funny enough, I actually read a journal by a witch from the 1700's in the Room of Requirement where she conducted a similar research project and used her own measuring scale. But when I did the math, it checks out that 400 units was the upper limit she found, unless artificial means were taken."

Fleur raised a brow. "Artificial how?"

Jin shrugged. "Bloodlines, familiars, rituals, unique magical items. Voldemort and his Horcruxes. Hell, I'm pretty sure Dumbledore is over the limit thanks to his bond with a phoenix and the Elder Wand."

"I can't say much about the wand, but Phoenix's are creatures of magic and very rarely become a familiar. Although when they do, its always to a partner who becomes well renown. It would make sense it gave a benefit."

"Those were my thoughts as well. And the Elder Wand in the lore made its holder unmatched in a duel. Which to my mind justifies a boost to Power and Casting Speed."

"You think the wand improves the amount of mana can be drawn at once, and the speed its drawn at?"

"That's my predominant theory, but it's not like I have any interest in testing that theory out any time soon."

Fleur laughed. "Understandable. Wait, what about Mana recovery?"

Jin turned to the last page. "No matter what I tried to change, the result was the same. It seems like everyone has the same recovery rate of 1% of their total mana pool per second."

"Everyone?"

He sighed. "Yeah, me, you, the teachers, the students, my other test subjects, even the theory books. Everyone recovers at the same rate, well, everyone I could study at least. I doubt Dumbledore and Voldemort have the same limitation as everyone else."

"What makes you say that?"

Jin thought of the future battle between Dumbledore and Voldemort. "Because Dumbledore stands above everyone else in power, and Voldemort could match him in a duel, despite the fact that each had plenty of power ups. How they did it is up in the air, but I would imagine its due to Dumbledors bond to the bird and his wand, while Voldemort's Horcruxes played a part for him."

"In mana recovery?"

"Recovery and pool size."

"So how would someone break those limits without shattering their soul, or using an ancient artifact and a highly magical familiar?"

Jin's head dropped back against the couch. "I don't know. It's bugging the crap out of me. Nothing I read gave a hint toward it, and the amount of redacted knowledge in the school is stifling. Why do people hoard knowledge?!"

Fleur chuckled and ran a hand through his hair. "Because knowledge is power Jin. And everyone ambitious enough wants to be powerful for various reasons. Fame, fortune, freedom, lust, greed, wrath, vengeance, the list goes on. Magicals have been hoarding knowledge for generations. Hogwarts was the first school in history to offer a standard education of freely given knowledge, and many other schools adopted its style over the years while changing things to their own cultures and beliefs. But the standard knowledge given freely is the same across the board." Fleur sighed herself as she thought of her future job prospects. "That's why it's frustrating having to choose a career path. Every option requires me to join an organization or apprentice to a master to gain access to more knowledge."

Jin turned his head to look at her. "It's not like every master is bad. You could apprentice to Flitwick."

Fleur scoffed. "As if I would spend another year in this cold and dreary place. Plus, Flitwick specializes in the dueling branch of charms. I'm more interesting in spell creation, or enchanting."

Jin winced at the first option. "I'm sick and tired of creation, screw that area."

Fleur gave him an amused look. "Just because your bad at it doesn't mean I will be. Besides, when it comes to combing existing charms, you're a damn near savant."

He smirked at that. "Guilty as charged. When I made the choice for Arithmancy, I thought it would make me super talented at everything it can do, but it really just gave me a high talent for what I'm naturally more skilled with. Combining charms just comes naturally to me, even if its challenging sometimes. But just reverse engineering the softening charm to get the hardening charm was maddening. I'm so done with that aspect."

"See, and I enjoy the challenge of creation, although, I haven't actually created anything yet."

"You could always just steal the formula's for the combination of charms I create and publish them."

She looked offended at the idea. "Non! I will not take credit for your efforts. The only time I take credit for something is when I do it myself."

He chuckled and held up his hands. "Whatever you want Sparkles. But I say just take the enchanting path, it seems more practical. Unless you still want to be a tomb raider, then curse and ward breaking are a great way to go."

Her eyes lit up at that. "Indeed. And just like your tales of that Laura Croft woman, perhaps I can find all the knowledge I need in a tomb if everyone is so eager to hoard what they know."

"Heh, follow your heart Fleur, I'll always support you."

She smiled at him and gave him a kiss. "I know. Now, are you going to finish your power scaling explanation."

He blinked and sat back up. "Right. I told you how Intent, Power, Casting Speed, and Focus work. Then I mentioned how large a mana pool can become, and how fast they can recover mana.

The last aspect comes back to Power and Casting Speed and how to scale them. From the minimum of a fifth-year student up to an Auror or professor, with some wiggle room for what could be possible beyond that, I put together a scale with grades with E at the lowest, and S at the highest. Here's my chart."

He turned to the page and showed her his sketch.

[Casting Speed: How fast the mana you pull from your core can travel to your magical focus per second.

S = .2 seconds

A = .9 - .3 seconds.

B = 1 second.

C = 3 seconds.

D = 5 seconds.

E = 7 seconds. ]

[Power: How much mana you can pull out per second.

S = 100 mana per second.

A = 50 mana per second.

B = 20 mana per second.

C = 10 mana per second.

D = 5 mana per second.

E = 2 mana per second.]

Fleur read over the scales and considered them. "How would you rate people according to this?"

Jin shrugged. "It's subjective really. A 1st year will of course be E on both scales, but moving up isn't about knowledge but practical skill. Dumbledore could still be an E on both scales and school an Auror. Although, I made the A and S grades to contain people like him, Voldemort, and Grindelwald."

Fleur nodded at that and pointed a finger at the Power scale. "That's understandable, but I thought you said most magicals had no control over the Power?"

"I did. But they consider a 'standard' spell to be cast with a certain amount of mana. For example, their brain registers 10 units of mana for the stunning charm unconsciously, so they draw on their wand until they feel they have enough mana gathered to cast the spell. More complex spells require higher mana costs to cast just once, which makes it hard to train to the point you unconsciously know when its enough. All the theory books are far too vague for my tastes about trusting your gut, feeling the magic, or having the right teacher. I believe it's all a bunch of people just relying on a wand to answer their problems."

Jin raised his hand and began channeling mana to it. "I am fully capable of channeling as much mana as I want to cast a charm." He pointed his hand at the cabin wall. "I can channel 1 unit of mana to a coloring charm." He launched a ball of light to smash against the wall, where a tiny circle of wood became blue. "Or I can channel fifty units of mana." He held up his hand again as it lit up, but this time he held it for a few seconds more before launching it as it hit the wall and turned the entire thing blue. "It's all in your head. Once you can control it yourself without a crutch, its all you."

He lowered his hand with a chuckle. "Of course, you still have to train to improve your power and casting speed."

Fleur looked over his notes. "Where would you place yourself on this scale?"

He hummed and scratched his cheek. "Honestly, when you include the goblin silver in my hands that improved my casting speed by a grade, I'm sitting at B for Casting, and C for Power. Plus my mana pool is only around 120 right now."

Fleur looked at him in confusion. "That's it? But you can fight all those spiders."

He smirked at that. "I can. But that's more due to my Animagus form than anything else. The Centaurs helped me incorporate an axe into my style, but I mainly fight with my hands and blue flames. I do my best to conserve my mana and use it in combos to keep the unit cost down while keeping the speed high. Combination charms with blue flames are costly, so I try to keep them to a minimum when I can. Plus, the banishing charm and summoning charm are very cost efficient if I keep the weight down, and the seize and pull charm returns my mana to me if I don't detach it. I learned how to fight a lasting battle, not blast everything in a minute and exhaust myself. You should know the last part."

He ended with a meaningful look that had her blushing and slapping his chest playfully. "Don't distract me. I can understand all that, but I was really pointing at your mana pool. Shouldn't it be larger?"

"Oh, that part. Well, do you remember how I told you I entered the world?"

"Didn't you say you just woke up in the Leaky Cauldron?"

"Yup. Turns out, despite giving me a full background story, my entry into the world didn't give me a power boost to my mana. I started with something around 20 units and managed to increase it by 100 in the last 9 months."

Fleur studied him for a second. "Are you saying your mana pool went from a child who never casted magic before to the equivalent of a seventh years mana accumulated mana pool from seven years of education in less than a year?"

He gave her a wild smile. "Combat is a wonderful thing, isn't it? Put your life on the line, struggle, push yourself to your limits, and break them. And you can advance at a….magical….pace." He wiggled his eyebrows at the word 'magical' and got a laugh out of Fleur for it.

"Is combat truly so useful to growth?"

Jin's humor faded a bit as he nodded. "It is. It walks hand in hand with losing your life at any second if you're not prepared, but it's the fasted way to progress. I'm already fighting creatures aurors would struggle against in groups, and that's with only a third of their mana pool. Imagine what I could do in a year or two? The larger my mana pool, the less restricted I'll be."

"Would you be able to overcome your magic resistance?"

He winced at that point. "Yes and no. My resistance will always be a passive effect at 5x my base. And since the larger your mana pool, the more your base resistance is, the more my pool grows, the stronger my resistance grows. The answer to overcoming it lies in 'Power'. If I can pull out enough mana fast enough, I can overwhelm it, but it's not worth the cost."

Fleur sat back and considered his points for a long moment before raising a finger. "Is that why you never learned Apparation?"

Jin waved a hand. " I can't learn anything besides charms, remember?"

Fleur gave him a weird look. "Jin, Apparation falls under charms."

He turned his head to match her look. "No, it's not. Apparation is Apparation."

"Jin, think about it. What does Apparation do?"

Jin decided to humor her and go over his thoughts. "Well, its magical transportation in which the user travels instantly from one location to another. This was accomplished by having the user focus on a desired location in their mind and then purposely disappearing from where they were, to reappear at the desired location. Its fast but can end very badly is screwed up. Hell, most average adults don't even bother with it, either from a lack of ability, or a desire to choose a safer method of travel."

Fleur slowly clapped. "Thank you for the textbook answer. How about something more you."

Jin rolled his eyes. "It's a bunch of math and mental Focus to teleport without losing limbs or organs."

"Thank you, now its clearly not Transfiguration, it's also not Potions, Runes, or Defense. There are no mediums involved. If you remove everything it can't be, what are you left with?"

Jin's eyes shrunk as he started seeing her point. "But…wait…no, it's its own category. It has to be."

"Who said that Jin?"

His eyes darted to her patient yet amused expression and repeatedly returned to his table as his brain worked over things. "Did I….did I just assume I couldn't do it because I couldn't use the other subjects?"

Fleur giggled at the shocked expression on his face. "Oui, you're adorable when you miss something so obvious Mon Tigre."

Jin didn't respond to her words, and Fleur's laughter petered out as she looked at him. "Mon Tigre?"

She leaned forward and poked him when he didn't respond. "Jin?"

The second her finger touched him, he shot up out of his seat and startled the poor girl into falling off the couch. Jin didn't even look at her as he made for the door like a zombie. "I need to go to the Room of Requirement."

Fleur snapped up from the floor as he rushed out the door. "Wait! Jin! You're not supposed to strain yourself for another two days!" She ran out the door behind him, and hidden in the shadows of a beam, Shadow the growing Kneazle huffed in annoyance as she shut the door behind the loud hoomans.

Rubeus Hagrid was going about his day like any other. His large feet trudged through the snow with little issue as he dragged a sled full of food for one of his beast friends by a thick rope.

'Hm?' Hagrid paused in his march as he eyed a growing snow cloud in the distance. 'Is that Jin? Huh, haven't seen him in a few days, maybe he's a bit under the weather?'

Jin's form rapidly grew as he came closer, and Hagrid raised a hand in greeting. "Ey Jin! How you bee-." His sentence cut off as Jin didn't even seem to register he was there, running by on all four limbs like his ass was on fire toward the castle.

Hagrid scratched his cheek. 'Whats all the rush about?' He turned his head toward where Jin came from and blinked at the rapidly approaching form of the French lass Jin got together with. "Ey Fleur! I just saw Ji-." Again his voice cut off as the young woman flew by him, ejecting flames of all things from the soles of her boots.

"Sorry Hagrid! Gotta go!"

Hagrid hummed and cupped his eyes as he saw Fleur increase the size of her flames and flying tackle Jin to the ground. "Huh, feisty one. No wonder he was runnin." Fleur wrapped Jin in layers of chains and began dragging him back the way they came while loudly berating him.

"What is wrong with you?! Are you trying to kill yourself?! Die and I'll bring you back to kill you myself!"

"Since when can you eject flames from your feet?!"

"Since now! I'm just that amazing!"

"That's such bullshit! Teach me!"

Hagrid stood on the side and watched the show as Fleur dragged the struggling Jin away with a large smile. "Hahaha, ah, yung love." He thought about his own improving relationship. "Maybe I can find a bundle of winter jasmine to surprise Maxine with. She loved those flowers." He considered it and nodded. "Yeah, lets do that. I'll feed Fluffy and go searching." He whistled and dragged off his sled, completely throwing Jin's plight to the back of his mind, along with the fact the Jin was running on all four limbs like a large cat.

End.

AN: Thoughts? ** [I repeat, there will be NO numbers and energy bars and stuff in fights. It's sole purpose is to give the readers a scale for future growth, and other stuff I add in. ] **

Remember everyone, Jin cannot use other branches of magic. The only reason Jin can leave the world of HP while retaining what he got, is because of his homunculus body. And with the limited time he has in HP, he's going to focus on what he actually can use, not what he can't.

In the future, when Fleur leaves the world of HP, as a homeborn soul, she will not lose any of her capabilities. But if she went to One Piece, she would never be able to acquire Haki.

The purpose of such a thing is for the same exact reason as the MC. To give them their own unique and progressive growth paths. The very LAST thing I ever plan to do is drown my characters in powers they will NEVER use. It's my biggest pet peeve in fanfiction.

Fleur, just like Jin, will have to find her own way to break the limit of her mana pool, improve her mana recovery rate, increase her casting speed and power, and evolve.

She will 100% be able to make use of other worlds resources to empower her core abilities, but her abilities will always remain from what she had in the world of HP.

Every love interest will be unique, and Jin won't be able to spoon feed them the answers. What works for him could help them, but it's not their answer.

Response to Reviews:

/: Guest, 4fundaore, Sakra95, shinigami101505 – thanks! I appreciate the story love.

/: kasicair – Thanks for sticking in and giving it a try! I'm glad you had fun. I try to write relatively drama free style characters if I can help it, and I see many of the Fleur types out there being very….dramatic lol. Hope you stick around for the future.

/: Isharioth666 – lol.

/: Noahbadoah – Kek. Is it a death flag? Or is it something else? A flag has been risen, but what is it?

/: Brown Optometrist – thanks as always my friend.

/: hearo27 – earthbender? With charms you can be the damn avatar lol.

/: qjhaynes – Yo, if you decided to stick around, thanks for the reminder. I had changed Jin's age from fifteen to seventeen three chaps in, but this website is a pain in the ass about 'swapping out' chapters. I thought the edit went through, but it didn't. This website is slowly dying a very painful death without any mods/admins running it. I can't use parts of the system I should be able to often times.

/: HughJasz – I'm keeping the suspense going. The final answer will come at the end. But I'm not pulling time shenanigans. From the point in time that Jin enters a world, all timelines are at a 1 to 1 ratio. The charms vote is almost over, I got a little more time before I reach the point it matters.

/: Deathunterz123 – stay tuned to find out.
