Okay, I have a really important announcement. A nerve-wracking one. A lot of people have asked me about doing writing tips and I've never really been receptive to it because this is fanfiction and I know that this is someone else's work. However, I do have original works and so, I went for it. I launched my own under mylovelylions which will feature character sketches, updates, original works and fanfiction side stories/updates etc. If you guys want to you can support me over there. I do spend a massive amount of time writing and editing and also plotting these stories and I just thought... why not if I have the original work to back it up?
Thank you and I love you guys,
Lovely
Chapter 27: School Bullies Never Win
"Education," Mr. Tulodeski was stating, his brown plaid tie oddly askew around his neck. "Is the most important weapon that you can use to change the world."
Mr. Tulodeski was always saying things like this - things that made sense in short, inspirational clips but not entirely in the middle of a discussion on restriction endonuclease. He would throw out these pithy remarks in a frumpy manner, pausing in the middle of something that Tina would consider to be actually interesting and stumbling across a line or two in muddled confusion.
There was a moment of awkward silence in which Tina's seatmate shifted, sending his shoulder into hers in a way that made her want to reach over and close his book on his fingers. His hazel eyes snapped over to her, his letterman jacket crinkling loudly as she sent him a glare. These small movements had become a ritual of sorts these last weeks. First, it would be a shoulder graze and then his thigh would touch hers and then… Well, Bobby Millstrong had some of the stickiest fingers that Tina had ever had the misfortune of feeling.
Upfront, Mr. Tulodeski clenched a hand around his tie, somehow twisting it farther out of place. "As I was saying, restriction endonuclease is an enzyme that...just snip-snips DNA into fragments at or near specific recognition sites within molecules. Which are known as restriction sites. Can anyone tell me what constitutes a recognition site?"
"If you bump into me one more time, Bobby-" Tina gritted out, keeping her voice low so that Mr. Tulodeski would keep on track instead of veering away from the actual lesson like usual.
Bobby's eyes narrowed, his lips tightening in a smug challenge. "What? You'll get your druggie boyfriend to come and beat me up?"
Tina's blood boiled. Bobby Millstron was the type of boy that woke up at 5 am to go for a run. He was the type of boy that would talk about how much he got laid when, in fact, the last 3 girls he had gone out with had denied him after he had fumbled around with the metal clasp of their bras for too long. He was the type of guy who was so desperate for female attention that he tried to grope his seatmates.
To put it mildly, Bobby Millstron was a loser.
That knowledge didn't make Tina's overwhelming urge to shove her foot up his ass any less pressing.
"No," she started slowly, sweetly and Bobby's eyes widened at the feral light that had entered her suddenly frigid gaze. She looked more akin to the ocean now - more element than human as she smirked up at him. "I think you'll find that I can take care of myself, Bobby."
Bobby Millstron didn't see her fingers curl around the cup of water that was filling one of the beakers on their table. He didn't see her smoothly slide it to the edge of the desk. And he definitely didn't see her delicately move her books to the side.
No, Bobby Millstron was too caught up in her gaze - the way her irises thawed and iced over, contracting from white to a baby blue to an almost grayish hue.
Bobby Millstron thought he might just be in love.
It was a good thing that he often found himself tripping into that same state of mind because this experience alone would have catapulted him into abstinence.
Tina's wrist flicked, her smile venomous as she casually spilled the contents of the pitcher into the football player's lap, deftly throwing up a hand as Bobby yelped, jerking back from the table.
"Sir," Tina called, her face twisted in concern as she slid the empty glass back onto the table with a calmness that made it completely unnoticable. Mr. Tulodeski paused, his fingers tap, tap, tapping at the forlorn scrap of a tie as all of the students turned at the sudden outburst. Bobby floundered, gaping at his drenched lap. "I think Bobby had a little bit of an accident."
A low hiss escaped the boy, his face reddening as a squeal of laughter burst from a girl across the room. A cluster of boys at the back of the class gave a howl. "DUDE, YOU PISSED YOUR PANTS?!"
If it were possible, Bobby's face got even more scarlet, the area around his ears going an alarming shade of purple. "That's not-"
"EW! It's dripping from his chair!" A girl shrieked.
Tina whirled, her face twisting with mock sympathy. "He's already so embarrassed, don't make it any worse." She turned a pleading glance to the teacher. "Can Bobby go to the nurses? Please?"
"You-" she heard the boy seethe, his teeth flashing in what she assumed was meant to be a threatening expression. But his eyes were slightly panicked, his shoulders up as if trying desperately to combat the shiver of laughter that was bouncing from one corner to the next. "You bitch."
Tina's smile was a slim, cold thing, her eyes glimmering from beneath her lashes as she turned so that Bobby would be the only one able to make out her expression and her words. "Remember that the next time you decide to touch me without my consent."
"Yes," Mr. Tulodeski yipped, his fingers twisting at that tie until it came a bit undone. His face was almost as red as poor Bobby's. "Please, Mr. Millstron, go take care of yourself."
Fuming, Bobby got up, his movements awkward, shuffling little things as the excess water pooling in the crevice of his lap splashed to the floor making a few of the students let out whoops of disgust. Low murmurs followed him, Tina's insides eyes cool as he finally slipped from the room and made a mad dash for the nearest restroom. She could feel the two students behind her, their eyes little pinpricks along her back and she casually tipped her head to the side, catching their gazes.
Like her, they had gotten into this class based on their grade point averages. Unlike her, they had had to deal with Bobby's incessant need to turn around and wave his dick around. Her eyes darted between the two, both with frizzy matts of hair and thick, wire glasses. In a year or two they would grow out of this phase and be running businesses with a million Bobby Milbanks getting fired by a million different people. They gave her tight, relieved smiles.
Tina didn't do much besides tip her chin up slightly and turn back to the front. Tomorrow they would ignore her and she would ignore them. Burnouts and nerds didn't associate with each other and even though she could easily slip into the latter category, the fact that she was dating Hyde made her an automatic red zone. She all but refused to talk to her, avoiding the trouble of someone like Steven Hyde like the plague.
This left Tina in an odd predicament since she didn't have any classes in common with any of the gang. The jocks teased her with the restrained flirtation of a lover scorned. The cheerleaders were generally too concerned with passing their next test to do much more than ignore her existence. The nerds avoided any social travesties that might bring down their chances of getting out of this bum-fuck down.
Which made slacking off in class a real hassle.
Tina sighed, playing with the edges of her notebook. Classes usually went a bit slow for her. Long ago, she had found a general rhythm with teachers. Usually, they ran very quickly through the basics of their lessons and then went back over them with the class in deeper detail with tests and experiments. Today was the review phase and Tina was honestly bored out of her mind.
Although no one ever talked about it, the auburn-haired girl was closer to genius level than any of the gang. Kitty and Red swore by the fact that Tina had inherited some long lost "smart gene" from Kitty's mother. Tina suspected it had far more to do with the lack of brain cells that both her sister and brother had been born with. They had to go somewhere, didn't they?
Her stomach started to give an uncomfortable twist of hunger, drawing her eyes to the clock sitting teasingly above the door. Tina had always wondered… She blinked. Instead of going to the time, her eyes immediately zeroed in on the familiar blue of Steven Hyde's eyes. Her heart twisted, her stomach loosening in an altogether drugging sort of high. He still had this effect on her. After all the near misses, all the midnight kisses and whispered conversations, all the hours spent staring into those very same eyes, it still caught her by surprise how much… How much.
Those eyes crinkled, Steven's fingers pushing them roughly up to rest in the wild mess of his curls. Casually, she saw him turn to the side, pressing up against the edge of the door and then pointedly crooking his finger. Her heart shimmied, shivering as she felt her body lean forward mindlessly like a dog that had been called home. His head tipped to the side, the side of his lips crooking slyly.
Tina's hand shot up, barely thinking through her next words before she was already going along with him. He had that effect, didn't he?
Mr. Tulodeski's eyes widened owlishly, diverted for a moment from the weedy tangent on school spirit that he had diverted along five minutes ago. "Miss Forman?"
"I need to drop his stuff off," Tina rushed out and then paused, frowning. Heat crawled up her throat as she caught the darkening look in Hyde's eyes, the way his eyes roamed over her as she spoke. Like he wanted to devour her. Or maybe lead her into doing some very bad things more often. "His books. Bobby's books. He left them and he probably wont be back before lunch so I was wondering if you would let me take them to him?"
"You can do it on your way to your next class…" Mr. Tulodeski stopped at the emphatic shake of Tina's head, a few curls bouncing free from her braid.
"I'll be late for lunch," Tina hurried to say, forcing her eyes to widen. Her heart raced. This wasn't the first time that she had ditched out on class but it was one of the few times where her fingers twisted with the urge to get up and run out the door. Mr. Tulodeski stared at her, her eyes never wavering, for a moment longer before he gave a sigh.
"It's only 15 minutes until lunch so I suppose you could bring his things to him." Tina was up, cramming her things into her tote quickly and grabbing Bobby's ratty bag with distaste before he could even finish the sentence. Giving him a grateful smile, she jogged to the other side, both bags with their combination of books banging against her hip. "TELL MR. MILLSTRON THAT THERE'S A TEST TOMORROW ON-"
Tina didn't hear the rest, the door shutting with a thunk behind her as she darted into the hallway… and right into Steven Hyde.
His hand immediately comes out, steadying her as she rocks back, both of the bags throwing her off just enough to make her feet trip a bit. A strong arm curls around her waist, hauling her flush with Steven's densely corded chest. Steven always had a wily sort of strength, the kind that would do well in jumping fences in the dead of night or side-stepping brute force attacks in a bar fight. Tina's mouth went dry as she tipped her head back to meet his gaze, one brow going up as he eyed the extra bag that she was carrying, a few endearing curls slipping over his brow.
"I don't think I invited anyone else on this road trip, doll," he drawled and her stomach tightened at the low, gravelly aspect of his voice, the gentle teasing that always seemed to curl his syllables.
Everything about him intoxicated her. Suddenly parched, she wet her lips, her stomach flipping as his eyes darkened, his head tipping to the side as he leaned a bit closer to her. "I had to tell my teacher that I was taking Bobby his bag to get out of class."
Sly mischief tugged at his lips, drawing his smile up crookedly. Slowly, his free hand curled around the strap of the bag, taking the weight from her. "That's cute."
He tossed it off to the side of the hallway before both of his arms were wrapped around her waist, hauling her even closer until her skin melded to his. Her fingers uncurled, sliding beneath the thick wool of his coat. His eyes crinkled as he grinned down at her. "I like it when you're bad for me."
Tina felt a flutter in her abdomen, her whole body heating at the words. His lips grazed hers, rubbing lightly enough to make her half-mad, her platforms teetering slightly as she tried to go up on her tiptoes to get closer. She felt his smirk as he teased her, tipping back a bit farther every time she got within kissing distance. His eyes glittered, crystal clear without the shade of his glasses.
Words like honey dripped from his lips to hers, his breath warm against her parched tongue. "It makes me wonder what other bad things I can make you do."
Anything, she thought, a soft growl working from her lips as she reached up, her fingers curling into the downy hairs at his nape as she yanked him down for a punishing kiss. Tina sunk into Hyde like a diver into the ocean, her breasts pressing into his chest, loving the feel of his solid muscles against her softness. Her breath caught and then sighed out as his teeth nipping at her bottom lip before his tongue was tangling with hers. Possessiveness tightened his muscles, his fingers digging into her ass as he hauled her a bit closer. God, he loved it when she pulled his hair like that, made those little mewling sounds in the back of her throat when he was sliding his tongue along hers. It made him-
He pulled away, breathing hard. Tina caught the small whine before it spilled from her mouth, glowering up at Hyde as he stared down at her, his eyes heavy with arousal. His voice was a thing of rocks when he spoke, his eyes heavy on her lips. "You're going to make me forget why I came to get you."
"That's not so bad if I can just do this instead," Tina whispered, wiggling in her grip as she tried to go up on her tiptoes and capture his lips once more. He deftly dodged, his fingers biting into her ass in reprimand as he gave her a stern stare.
For a moment, they had a silent tug of war, Tina's eyes narrowing further and further as Hyde's gaze held steady. It was useless. Whenever Hyde wanted something he usually got it. He grinned, his arm tightening around the auburn-haired girl's waist. That was how he got Tina after all.
Finally, she sighed, sinking back onto the soles of her feet. "Fine. What do you have planned?"
"Just a little school ditching," he drawled, his fingers smoothing down the curve of her butt in slow, mind-numbing circles. Tina's insides warmed, something low in her belly aching, her thighs pressing together. "Forman gave me his car."
Tina's brows rose. Her brother giving away the Vista Cruiser. That was nearly unheard of. Her lips pursed, considering. "How did that happen?"
The curly-haired bows lips curled slyly. "I'm good at negotiation."
In other words, he probably wrestled him to the ground and took them by force. Tina sighed, unable to chastise him when she knew that her brother would have done the same. "So where are we going?"
The flash of teeth was nearly predatory, his lips grazing hers. The cerulean blue of his eyes swirled, catching hers with piercing intensity. "We're going on a date, doll."
