Chapter 32: Island Ghouls
Hey everyone I'm back with a new chapter. I'm glad all of you enjoyed my latest movie. Sorry about the wait but I think you'll like what I have in store for you lots of new twists and surprises starting with one of my favorite characters in the Ben 10 franchise. It had been a week since Clawdeen's salon opened and the whole Zomboy incident. Fortunately, with Moanica behind bars the Zomboys were much easier to deal with.
At the Plumber's Base, Drake was walking with Cleo and Rook down the hall to see Moanica in her cell with a bored expression on her face.
"You know Moanica prison is a good look for you." Cleo said.
"You humans are disgusting. You say you're all about monster equality and yet you through me in here." Moanica hisses.
"Actually, when humans and or aliens break these laws, we throw them in here too so we are treating with the same equality as every other criminal out there." Rook said.
"Look Drake, you're all for monsters coming out of the dark. Why not give me a chance to reform myself? Let me go back to class." Moanica asks pretending to be nice.
"Ha. Nice try. You think I was born yesterday? We're keeping you here because we're a million times safer with you locked up in here than in the school spouting all your craziness." Drake said.
"How dare you deny me my monster uprising! I am your worst nightmare human!" Moanica snaps.
"Actually right now you're more like the world's most expensive goldfish." Drake chuckles tapping the glass for emphasis.
"The world is changing Moanica and your world has no place in it." Rook said as they walked away.
"So we really gonna have the Zomboys hang around?" Cleo asks.
"They only did all that stuff because Moanica told them to. Put the right people in charge of them and they can be very helpful." Rook said.
Groaning a Zomboy slowly approaches Rook with a binder and bottle of water.
"Oh thank you. Good work." Rook smiles.
Making a giddy noise, the Zomboy walks away with a smile.
Looking at Rook the teenagers couldn't help but chuckle.
"He's like an intern." Rook brushes off.
"If you say so." Drake chuckles.
Making their way back up to Monster High, Drake and Cleo walked around looking for their friends.
"Be honest you think Moanica is gonna try and break out?" Cleo asks.
"I can see her trying but she's got no backup and is locked in a high-tech secret alien prison. I think we can take her." Drake smirks making her giggle.
"Touché." Cleo said.
"There they are." Drake points spotting Draculaura, Frankie, Clawdeen and Lagoona sitting at a table looking at their iCoffins.
"Hey Omni-Trackers." Cleo calls out but none of the answered. "What are we doing?" But still none of them answered. "Hmm I can't seem to snap them out of it." Cleo said.
"Let me try something." Walking over to Draculaura, Drake leans in and pecks her on the cheek making her yelp and making the other ghouls lookup.
"Oh Drake." Draculaura said.
"Lucky." Cleo mumbles as the others had a similar thoughts.
'How come she got the kiss?' They thought.
"What are you ghouls doing?" Drake asks as he and Cleo sat down.
"Sorry but we were poking around online for monsters in hiding." Draculaura explains.
"You know Monster Sightings, rumors, legends." Frankie lists.
"Anything to get the Omni-Trackers back out there and bring another lost monster to Monster High." Clawdeen adds.
"Hmm I see. You know ghouls I would love to bring another lost monster back to our school but we just cleaned up that whole mess from Moanica. Don't you think we deserve a little break?" Cleo asks.
"Aw beauty. Here's one mates. Says here there have sightings of a strange monster living on a Tropical Island." Lagoona said getting Cleo's attention.
"Tropical Island? Like beaches and palm trees tropical island?" Cleo asks before dashing inside and coming back out wearing a tropical hat and sunglasses.
Giggling the others couldn't help but love Cleo's enthusiasm.
"Well what are we waiting for let's go go go Omni-Trackers." Cleo said eagerly.
Making their way to the library, as Jinafire was climbing a ladder looking for a book Dracula had something under a tarp when the team walked in.
"Ah Drake, Ghouls come quick I have something to show you." Dracula gestures to the tarp. "Since I'm gonna be helping you find monsters I thought to myself Dracula you have been reading the same dusty books for over a millennia, isn't it about time for an upgrade?"
"I told you that." Drake deadpans. "And Kevin, and Hope and literally everyone else."
"Well, I listened and now tada!" Pulling back the cover we see a huge station with multiple computer screens. "With these bad boys I can track your location, look up tons of monster history and even go on the internet." Dracula declares.
"Uh you know you can do all that with just an iCoffin?" Clawdeen asks.
"Take it Clawdeen. At least he's using technology." Drake rolls his eyes.
"So how can I help?" Dracula asks as Lagoona walked up.
"Look Mr. Dracula. The Omni-Trackers have found their next missions." Lagoona informs showing him the image.
"Ah the Island of Gunam Burape." Dracula recognized.
"Can you tell us anything about it, Mr. Dracula?" Frankie asks.
"Like where are the best beaches? Are there private cabanas?" Cleo asks.
"Let's see." Dracula goes over to the screen but keeps getting errors. "Hold on."
"Oh boy." Frankie cringed seeing this.
"It's like teaching a grandparent how to use one." Drake rolls his eyes.
"You know what. Here." Grabbing a book, Dracula flipped through the pages. "Volcanic Island. The Volcano is inactive so it's not dangerous. Also stay away from any wildlife you may encounter." Dracula warns.
"Okay let's go find our monster." Draculaura said taking out the mapalogue.
"Yes please." Cleo said but Dracula stops her.
"Hold it right there Cleo. You will be sitting this one out." Dracula said.
"What? But sand and…sand." Cleo said in disbelief.
"Mrs. Rogers informed me about your failure to turn in your Humanology paper. And the rules are no homework no missions." Dracula scolds.
"But…sand." Cleo pouts.
"Sorry Cleo, we all agreed to that rule when we started it." Dracualura apologized.
"I really wish we had a full team." Drake said.
"Excuse me." Looking up they saw Jinafire slide down the ladder. "I couldn't help but overhear you're down a member. Perhaps I can offer my services to the team as a substitute."
"Are you sure Jinafire? Sometimes these Monster Rescues can get a little dangerous." Clawdeen warns.
"Especially when I'm involved." Drake mutters.
"I am aware but I believe I am up to the task of being an Omni-Tracker. Assuming you all would be willing to give me a chance." Jinafire asks.
"Hmm what do you think ghouls? Should we let her be a new member?" Draculaura asks.
"Jinafire has been a big help in most school and Plumber problems." Frankie said.
"And she does know what we do pretty well." Clawdeen said.
"I think Jinafire has more than enough skills to help us. I've seen them in action and she is pretty amazing." Drake smiles making her blush softly.
"Y-Your compliments are much appreciated." Jinafire smiles.
"Alright I guess Jinafire is our new Omni-Tracker replacement." Clawdeen said as she walked over.
"You're lucky we don't need helmets anymore. Or you would hate this part." Drake warns.
"I'll take your word for it." Jinafire said as they all put their hands on the skullette.
"Gunam Burape Exto Monstrum!" Draculaura said as they disappeared.
Frowning Cleo wanted to go more than anything but homework awaited.
Smirking Dracula went back to his screen but when it made a loud beeping noise it jumped back startled.
On the island, the 5 of them arrived on the lush tropical beach.
"Crikey look at those waves. Once we find our monster we should totally go surfing." Lagoona said.
"I must say it is quite breathtaking." Jinafire agrees.
"Well I think you might be able to go sooner than you think Lagoona." Drake calls out.
Pointing towards the forest they saw a line of footprints in the sand.
"Footprints." Clawdeen smiles.
"No doubt towards our monster." Frankie smiles as they followed the tracks.
Little did they know on another part of the island a figure in a purple winter coat, pink hair and a visor covering the upper part of their face was approaching the sand.
Taking out a device they checked it to see a hologram message.
A few seconds later, a high-tech drone flew in and delivered a heavily sealed canister.
"Jackpot." The figure said revealing it to be female.
Strapping the canister to her back, she turned and ran in the direction of the volcano.
Entering the forest, the Omni-Trackers were on the lookout for their monster.
"Hey Jinafire if you don't mind me asking what made you want to join our little team?" Lagoona asks.
"Well after the incident with Moanica and the Salon I thought since you had so much trouble being spread thin that maybe it would help if this group had some backup." Jinafire explains.
"Well certainly not gonna turn down extra help." Clawdeen said.
"Especially if more school-related issues keep popping up for us." Drake said when Drauclaura let out a loud gasp.
"Oh my ghoul." Draculaura smiles.
"Did you find our monster?" Jinafire asks.
"No but I did find this cutie." Draculaura said pointing to what appeared to be a monkey with 6 arms. "It's a Spider Monkey."
"Hmm a little different from the Normie Spider Monkey. Wonder if there's an alien version?" Drake asks.
"I'm gonna call him Dr. Monkenstein." Draculara smiles.
"Careful Draculaura, your dad said we should stay away from the wildlife on this island." Frankie recalls.
"Agreed, what if its cute appearance hides something evil?" Jinafire asks.
"Aw this isn't wildlife this is Dr. Monkenstein." Draculaura said petting it but the little monster monkey leaped out and grabbed the Mapalogue.
"The Mapalogue!" Clawdeen gasps.
"We need that to get back to Monster High!" Lagoona gasps as it ran off.
"That is a bad Dr. Monkenstein!" Draculaura scolds.
"You guys go looking for the monster, Draculaura and I will get the Mapalogue back." Frankie said as they split up.
"Oh I should be mad right now if that monkey wasn't so frustratingly adorable." Draculaura said.
"Stop falling for its cute act!" Drake scolds.
Back at the Library, Gwen was trying to help Gigi catch up on all things human-related.
"So how long were you in that lamp for?" Gwen asks.
"Hmm hard to tell. You lose track after a few hundred years." Gigi said trying to recall.
"Well even so, it never hurts to stay caught up on events." Gwen said putting a stack near Cleo's table.
"Mind if we sit here?" Gwen asks.
"Oh Gwen perfect timing. I need you to help me finish this." Cleo said.
"Hmm isn't getting a human's help for that class kinda cheating?" Gigi asks.
"Not if no one knows." Cleo said when they heard a loud beep followed by Dracula's groans.
"Not again." Dracula whines.
"Ugh he's trying to figure out how to use a computer for an hour." Cleo groans.
"Why do you think Kevin ditched him?" Gwen shrugs.
"I think I finally figured this thing out. It's possessed by some kind of vampire curse." Dracula said as the girls walked over.
"It's not cursed. It's technology." Gwen said.
"It's just a touch screen. Drake showed me all this stuff." Gigi said.
"Just touch here, swipe here and you're good." Cleo instructs.
"Touch, swipe. I can do that." Dracula said as the girls walked back to the table.
However the second they sat down the noises and groaning began.
"Wow he is really bad at this." Gwen ringed.
"Gigi I don't suppose you can use your magic to make him better with technology?" Cleo suggests.
"Some things even magic can't fix." Gigi said putting her hand on her shoulder.
"Maybe it is a curse." Cleo groans banging her head on the table.
Back at the island, we see Lagoona and Clawdeen in one group searching the area.
In her wolf form, Clawdeen sniffs the ground before finding a scale next to some webbed footprints and turning back to normal.
"Look at that. I found a couple of scales." Clawdeen points out.
"Hmm combine that with the webbed footprints and I'd say we're looking for a water monster like me." Lagoona smiles.
"You think we should go back to the beach? Start checking the ocean?" Clawdeen asks.
"Only a saltwater monster would be able to live in that ocean. These are freshwater scales. Meaning our monster is somewhere on this island." Lagoona said examining the scales.
"Well where would you go if you lived here?" Clawdeen asks.
"Somewhere I can see the ocean." Lagoona said turning towards the volcano. "Bet the view from up there is closer."
Suddenly they heard a loud rumbling coming from the volcano and smoke emerging from the top.
"I thought Mr. Dracula said the volcano was inactive." Lagoona gulps.
"Wow. Who would have thought his bazillion-year-old books might be out of date." Clawdeen said sarcastically.
"I hope the others are having better luck than us." Lagoona said as they ran as fast as they could.
With Drake and Jinafire, the two of them were on one side of the volcano and see the smoke coming.
"Ugh this is why you need to check weather updates." Drake groans.
"We have to find our monster fast. Time is of the essence." Jinafire said.
Looking around, they noticed something running through the forest.
"Hey what's—" Before Drake could finish the figure in the purple winter coat leaped over them and ran to the mountain.
"Was that our monster?" Jinafire gasps.
"Possibly. Hey you!" Drake calls out but she kept running. "I got to catch up with them and fast." Drake said activating the watch.
"No creature can survive the heat if that volcano erupts." Jinafire said.
"Then we better catch up to them and fast. Going Blitzwolfer." Drake said slamming down on it and turning into the wolf alien.
Running to the rocky mountains, Blitzwolfer uses his claws to scale the rocks and chase after the mysterious creature.
"Right behind you." Jinafire said doing a series of flips up the rocks.
Running ahead, the mysterious creature was nearing the volcano when Blitzwolfer leaped out and landed in front of her.
"I would not go that way if I were you." Blitzwolfer said.
"I go where I choose. And you sure can't stop me." She said.
"Why? What's so important? And what's in that?" Blitzwolfer asks pointing to the canister.
Seeing her move defensively towards it Blitzwolfer's eyes widen.
"You stole it." He realized.
"Sorry I'd love to stick around but I got places to be." She said stretching her arm to a high rock and swings over Blitzwolfer.
Growling Blitzwolfer chased after her with Jinafire running from a lower ledge.
"Jinafire we got a bad one! We gotta cut her off!" Blitzwolfer calls out.
Nodding Jinafire and Blitzwolfer split up hoping to catch who they thought was the monster.
With Frankie and Draculaura, the two of them were slowly approaching Dr. Monkenstein who was fiddling with the Mapalogue.
"That's it little guy. Stay nice and still." Draculaura said softly when they noticed the Mapalogue begin to glow.
"No! No No!" Frankie said as both girls lunged at it but the Spider Monkey teleported nearby making the two ghouls bang into each other.
Trying multiple times, whenever either ghoul thought they were close Dr. Monkenstein used the Mapalouge to avoid them.
"Why are you so cute?" Draculaura whines.
"That monkey is really testing my patience." Frankie groans.
"I know…but do you think my dad will let me keep him?" Draculaura asks making Frankie bang her head on the ground in annoyance.
Back at Monster High, Gwen, Cleo and Gigi were doing their reading when Dracula walks by and dumps all the computer stuff in the trash.
"You are not seriously throwing all of that away?" Cleo gasps getting up.
"Sure I am. In fact, I'll even do it again." Dracula said dropping a screen in the trash for emphasis.
"Mr. Dracula that is a really bad idea." Gigi said.
"Do you have any idea how much all that stuff costs? Even if you don't want it you can resell it." Gwen points out.
"Mr. Dracula we won't always have the Plumbers to be the tech experts. Once you get with the times you'll be able to do so much more for the Omni-Trackers." Cleo explains.
"Cleo I have been getting along for thousands of years with the books in this library. What can those screens do that these books can't?" Dracula asks.
"Give you current information." Gwen said.
"You can see all the cool things going on in the world." Gigi adds but he didn't seem fazed.
"Uh you can watch werekitten videos on them." Cleo said.
"Ooh." Dracula said interested.
Soon enough the screens were set up and Dracula was watching the videos.
"I can't believe this is what it took to get Dracula interested in technology." Gwen said.
"Let's just be grateful something worked." Gigi said.
"This is how you kids say "Fangtastic" right?" Dracula asks making Cleo groan. "Ooh you have to come see this one."
"But my report." Cleo gestures.
"Forget the report. This werekitten thinks he can the big jump off of the couch." Dracula said.
Cleo was about to get up when Gwen uses her powers to yank her back into the chair.
"No distractions. Finish your homework." Gwen said.
"But the video." Cleo gestures.
"And it's not going anywhere anytime soon. Homework now." Gwen scolds.
Groaning Cleo looks to see Gigi walk over.
"How come Gigi gets to watch it?" Cleo whines.
"I did my homework." Gigi smirks.
Back at the island, Clawdeen and Lagoona were scaling the volcano.
"Oh man just look at the view. I can't believe Drake and the Ghouls are missing this." Lagoona said while Clawdeen was struggling to climb up.
"Yeah great." Clawdeen said nervously. "Ugh I wish Drake was here to go Big Chill or Snare-Oh right about now."
"Remember mate, don't look down and hold on tight. This volcano can start shaking at any second." Lagoona said as the volcano shook almost as if on cue making Clawdeen nervous.
Losing her grip, Clawdeen slips.
"Got ya mate!" Lagoona said grabbing one arm but was losing her grip.
Suddenly a second hand came in and grabbed Clawdeen.
"Give me your claw." Turning to the left Lagoona saw a male freshwater monster with blue skin, hair hanging off one side and a black jacket. This was Gil Webber.
"Clawdeen we did it! We found the lost monster!" Lagoona cheers.
"I'm just as excited as you are ghoul but can you please pull me up first." Clawdeen begs as they got her to safety.
Showing them up some stone steps, Gil led them to his home. A beautiful hut overlooking the island.
"Whoa you were right Lagoona this is the perfect place to live." Clawdeen said amazed.
"Yeah but believe it or not I think now might be a good time for a move." Gil said as more rumbling went off.
"Then you're in luck uh…" Lagoona asks.
"Gil." He answers.
"Gil. I'm Lagoona and this is Clawdeen. We want to tell you about Monster High. A place where all monsters are welcome." Lagoona said making him smile.
Down below, Frankie and Draculaura were in a tug of war with Dr. Monkenstien for the mapalogue.
"Hand it over!" Draculaura growls.
"Use the Mapalogue…to teleport." Frankie said in between pulls.
"Good idea. Clawdeen Exto Monstrum!" Draculaura said as they teleported up the mountain.
"Oh great they brought the monkey." Clawdeen said annoyed.
"Ghouls, Gil. Gil, Ghouls." Lagoona introduced.
"Hello." They both said as rocks started to come down.
"Now that we got that out of the way think we can get Drake and Jinafire to Mapalogue off this place?" Clawdeen suggests.
"Alright. Jinafire Exto Monstrum." Draculaura said but nothing happened.
"It must be out of battery because someone used it over and over again." Frankie said glaring at Dr. Monkenstein making the little monkey feel ashamed.
"Can't Frankie just zap it and charge it up?" Clawdeen panics.
"It doesn't run on electricity. It runs on monster energy. It'll charge on its own we just need a few minutes." Frankie said as a large rock fell nearby.
"We don't have a few minutes! We have to get away from this volcano and fast!" Clawdeen said.
"Hey you ghouls know how to use those?" Gil asks gesturing to some of his boards.
"Yeah we do." They grinned.
On a lower level of the mountain, Blitzwolfer was chasing the mysterious creature to the edge.
Thinking she was home free she didn't notice the green flames shoot out in front of her blocking her escape.
"What the?" She gasps as Jinafire leaps in and lands across from her.
"Surprise!" Jinafire said deliver a kick making her skid back.
"End of the line." Blitzwolfer said as they both approached her.
Looking down she saw a large lake right under the ledge.
"Not ever." She smirks giving the come get me gesture.
Charging in both attempt to grab her but the girl leaps off the edge making her visor fall off.
As Blitzwolfer fell he was able to see the creature's face revealing it to be a pretty girl with light pink skin, purple eyes, purple markings on her cheeks and a purple tiara on her head. This was Ester.
Usng her powers, Ester stretched all the way back up to safety while Bliztwolfer and Jinafire landed in the water below.
"You might have the powers but I have the reach." Ester grins when the canister opens revealing a glowing red sphere.
Hitting the stones near them Blitzwolfer was about to grab it.
"Drake don't touch it!" Jinafire gasps stopping him.
Looking at it Blitzwolfer sees the sphere melt the stones before Ester grabbed it and put it back in the case.
"Who are you?" Drake calls out.
"Name's Ester. It's been a pleasure Drake, was it? But I can't really say I'm a fan of that form of yours. Bye-Bye." Ester said making her escape.
Growling Blitzwolfer was about to go after her when the Hourglass icon beeped turning him back into Drake.
"Man, she had us fooled." Drake groans as they both climbed out of the water.
"She was a truly clever opponent. But why did she bring such advanced technology to an island like this?" Jinafire asks wringing out her hair.
"I don't know. And what do you think she meant by not a fan of that form? Has she seen my other transformations?" Drake asks helping her out.
As Jinafire took his hand Drake ended up getting a view of her soaked clothes making him blush softly.
"Man what are we gonna tell the ghouls when they learn we lost the monster?" Drake asks trying to change the subject.
"Incoming!" Looking up they saw their friends and Gil drop in nearby on their boards.
"Well that was fun." Lagoona said as everyone looked at her with weird expressions. "What? If you're gonna flee an erupting volcano you might as well do it on a surfboard."
"Drake, Jinafire we found our monster." Clawdeen said.
"Hi you must be the normie they told me about. I'm Gil." Gil waves.
"Wait, you're the monster? Then who did we…" Drake starts when the Mapalogue glowed.
"Clawsome timing Mapalouge. Everyone grab it." Clawdeen said.
"Wait what about—" Jinafire starts.
"No time, we need to go now." Frankie said.
"Cleo Exto Monstrum!" Draculaura said as all but Dr. Monkenstein teleported back to Monster High.
Arriving back at Monster High, they see Cleo was very eager to see them.
"You ghouls are just in time. I just finished my assignment and I am ready to hit that sandy beach." Cleo said.
"The beach?" Gwen and Gigi said interested.
"Yeah…that island is kinda sorta about to be destroyed by an erupting volcano." Clawdeen cringed.
"I just wrote a 13 page essay. I am going volcano or not." Cleo said trying to grab the mapalogue.
"Cleo no!" Draculaura said not wanting to do this again.
"Is this school always like this?" Gil asks.
"Yep, welcome to Monster High." Drake said as Dracula came over.
"Have you kids seen a werekitten sneeze? Because I have." Dracula laughs leading them to the screens.
Smiling all the ghouls decided to go check it out but Drake was still lost in thought.
'If Gil was the lost monster then who or what was that Ester girl doing there?' Drake thought.
None of them knew that on the island things were about to get a lot crazier than a volcano.
Approaching the top of the volcano, Ester looks down inside.
"Finally." Ester grins before jumping inside it.
